Health secretary Wes Streeting has set out three big shifts the NHS must deliver – including moving from analogue to digital. National strategy on health technology and digital is developing at pace, with a 10-Year Plan for the NHS expected to set out new priorities in the spring. We've seen no shortage of initiatives, roadmaps and plans for tech and innovation in recent years – yet delivery has often lagged behind. Today, acute pressures on health and care services, demographic headwinds and trends in disease burden mean there's an imperative to deliver at pace. Much recent attention has focused on AI and its revolutionary potential, but leveraging this depends on a range of other digital capabilities that not all NHS trusts and services have.  So, where is the NHS on its journey to digitisation? And, given all of this, what will it take for the NHS to become a truly digital health system?    To discuss, our Chief Executive Jennifer Dixon is joined by: Holly Krelle, Assistant Director at the Center for Healthcare Innovation & Delivery Science at New York University's Langone Medical Center. Erik Mayer, Consultant Surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare and the Royal Marsden NHS trusts, and Director of Imperial's clinical analytics unit.  Show notes Darzi et al (2024). In this episode of the IJGC podcast, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Pedro Ramirez is joined by Professor María Kyrgiou to discuss Cervical Conization Dimensions: 2022 Consensus Recommendations. Professor Mara Kyrgiou is a Professor at Imperial College London and a Consultant Surgeon in Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology at the West London Gynaecological Cancer Centre, Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. She is the Head of Section of Gynaecological Oncology at Imperial College London. Her main clinical interest is minimal access and complex gynaecological cancer surgery. Highlights: - Local treatment techniques for cervical pre-invasive and early invasive disease were previously thought to be interchangeable with regards to treatment failure rates and associated with minor and infrequent complications. - The findings of a network metaanalysis (Athanasiou Lancet Oncology 2022) suggest that more aggressive treatments (i.e., CKC, laser conisation) are associated with lower recurrence rates but higher risk for subsequent preterm birth. - The risk of reproductive morbidity is directly associated with the length of the cone. - This paper by ESGO/EFC/IFCPC describes a consensus terminology of the cone dimensions to make studies addressing effectiveness and safety of SIL/CIN treatment comparable and facilitate their use to tailor surveillance and antenatal management. - The 2022 terminology should replace all previous terminologies, which will facilitate communication between clinicians and foster tailored treatment guidelines that balance obstetrical harm against therapeutic effectiveness. - Universal agreed reporting will further facilitate communications among clinicians and pathologists, promote audit of practice and future research, and improve the quality of future meta-analyses.

Resources: https://www.drorlena.com/I want to take a moment to set the scene: A picture-perfect family of healthy, successful parents, raising happy, young children is a goal most of us would love to achieve. But for many of us that goal may seem too far out of reach to even consider it. Work, laundry, cleaning, parenting, and cooking for kids, who probably won't eat anything anyway, can leave you with no time for yourself, causing frustration, fatigue, and stress. This results in overeating, poor nutrition, emotional upheaval, and sickness. But that doesn't have to be the case. Dr. Orlena Kerek, MBChB is a pediatric doctor from Great Britain who lives in Spain with her husband and 4 young children. She was feeling trapped in that sort of crazy life full of turmoil causing low self-esteem and anger”. She wasn't the person she wanted to be. Through extensive research she began to understand and work on her own emotional wellbeing. She started prioritizing her own self-care and discovered that being a working mom, eating healthy, nutritious foods and looking after yourself is possible. She became a health, weight and life coach to help people say goodbye to frustration and have an amazing, healthy life. She helps families create healthy habits they love, so they can all feel fit and fabulous without having to think about it. Dr. Kerek bases her weight loss coaching on 4 pillars: - Healthy eating you love - Exercise that lights you up- Delicious healthy sleep which is an integral part of health and weight loss.- Emotional wellness- creating systems, habits, and routines. To achieve success in those areas it must become a habit. You must be able to do it without thinking so when life happens, it is your go to. Dr. Kerek's goal now is to provide other people with the tools they need to lose weight by eating healthily. Some points from today's talk:The habit of happySeedling habitsRecognize your winsFinding joy in your fitness The power of sleepLifestyle diseases The power of using a coach Parents have control over the health of their children and as a pediatrician Dr Kerek recognized that children learn their habits from their mom. By helping moms she is helping their children.“The best thing you can give your kids is your own happiness and the second-best thing is vegetables. Look after yourself, enjoy it, enjoy your kids as well and they will become healthy” https://www.drorlena.com/ Dr Kerek is the host of a parenting blog, a podcast, and an author of several books about feeding children.Feeding Toddlers.
