A little over a month ago, Dan Horn had a debate with Pastor Rich Lusk about Paedobaptism and the place of children in the church. After the debate was posted on YouTube (see link below), there were a number of comments that seemed worth responding to. A couple of the comments are from credobaptists, but most are from paedobaptists whose viewpoints seem to diverge from orthodox Presbyterian views and lean more toward Federal Vision.Dan Horn vs. Rich Lusk on Children in the Church:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4rcocRXATE Listen to the audio version here: https://theconqueringtruth.com/2025/05/pedobaptism-debate-response-ep-218-audio/Timecodes00:00:00 The Debate00:00:45 The Position is Cold?00:11:44 Israel Drank of Christ?00:25:55 Children Praying?00:33:11 Christ's Baptism?00:40:57 Born Again?01:00:27 Baptism and Priesthood?01:16:31 Covenant Community?Production of Reformation Baptist Church of Youngsville, NCPermanent Hosts - Dan Horn, Charles Churchill and Joshua HornTechnical Director - Timothy KaiserTheme Music - Gabriel Hudelson

In this episode of Daily Detroit, I talk with Dan Horn, Vice President of Mobility for Franco Integrated Communications, about the impact of conferences and events in Detroit and Metro Detroit. We explore the importance of these gatherings beyond just trade shows, highlighting their crucial role in economic development, connecting businesses, and advancing key industries like mobility. We get into the variety of conferences held in the region, from the Detroit Auto Show to industry-specific events, and how they serve as a platform for collaboration, sharing expertise, and building partnerships. We talk about the economic boost these conferences provide to the region through hotel bookings, dining, and other local spending, while simultaneously attracting investment and talent. It is stressed how these events encourage in-person interactions to strengthen relationships and create opportunities that cannot be achieved through virtual communication alone. Daily Detroit shares what to know and where to go in Detroit every day. Nashville's own guitar virtuoso Sean Thompson shares his eclectic musical odyssey with us as he transcends genres and geographies to become the first non-Californian talent signed to Curation Records. From thrash metal beginnings to his current blend of sounds inspired by the likes of Beachwoods and the California vibe, Sean reveals how the isolation of 2020 catalyzed his journey into songwriting. This episode uncovers his creative process and the serendipitous companionship of his furry friends that kept his spirits high during lockdown's quieter days. With a nod to authenticity and personal storytelling in music, Sean takes us through his roots and the pivotal moments that shaped his artistry. We reminisce about family influences, his early fascination with a gifted guitar, and his teenage years spent in thrall to Metallica. As Sean's musical style evolved, so did his appreciation for diverse genres, thanks to a high school crush who introduced him to Bob Dylan and the world of jazz guitar. These experiences paved the way for an organic fusion of Americana and jazz that defines his unique sound today. Navigating the ever-vibrant Nashville music scene, Sean reflects on the joys and challenges of performing live, from intimate art gallery shows to joint tours with bands like Dan Horn. We explore the strategic intricacies of releasing his upcoming album "Head in the Sand" and the excitement surrounding its singles. Album set to release February of 2025. Following this story from Erin Couch and Dan Horn - https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/mlb/reds/2024/09/30/pete-rose-dies-henderson-county-nevada-cause-of-death/75460666007/ Cincinnati Reds legend Pete Rose was found dead at his home Monday in Clark County, Nevada, according to officials there. The Clark County coroner's office could not immediately be reached and the county spokeswoman who confirmed Rose's death provided no other details, including the cause of death. ABC News reported that a family member found Rose and said the county medical examiner indicated there were no signs of foul play. The ABC News report also said Rose, 83, had not been in the care of a doctor at the time of his death. Rose's home is being examined and the cause of death remains under investigation. Although there was no indication Rose had been seriously ill at the time of his death, Rose said in 2018 court filings connected to his divorce that he was "in poor health and disabled." In that same divorce case, Rose's lawyers said he struggled to walk, was on blood thinners and had undergone three heart procedures in five years. Pete Rose, who died Monday at his home in Nevada, at a press conference in 2015 at the Pete Rose Sports Bar and Grill in Las Vegas. Despite those health problems, Rose maintained a busy schedule and continued to travel all over the country, often to sports memorabilia shows. A Facebook post Monday from the Music City Sports Collectibles and Autograph Show in Tennessee featured a photograph taken Sunday of Rose sitting in a wheelchair, surrounded by several of his teammates from his days in Cincinnati with the Big Red Machine. He died the next day. "Amazing that they all got to see each other one last time," the post said. Earlier this year, in April, Rose canceled an appearance at former UC basketball coach Bob Huggins' annual fish fry charitable fundraiser in West Virginia "due to health reasons," according to a post on the event's Facebook account. "We're sending Pete our warmest wishes for a full & speedy recovery," the post said. The Cincinnati Reds also confirmed Rose's death in a statement late Monday. “Our hearts are deeply saddened by the news of Pete's passing,” said Reds' owner Bob Castellini. “He was one of the fiercest competitors the game has ever seen, and every team he played for was better because of him. Pete was a Red through and through. No one loved the game more than Pete and no one loved Pete more than Reds Country.” Though the all-time hits leader began his record-breaking career in Cincinnati and won two World Series titles here, he had lived in Nevada for years, near Las Vegas, where he owned a now-closed bar and frequently made paid public appearances and signed baseball memorabilia.

Mark and Dan Horn, Martin Heaney, Julie Wedge, Dorinda Hulton, Pen to Print and Grace and Phoebe Pluckrose-Oliver I started writing Notes From Dad's Room in 2017, a few months following my dad, Edgar's death in November 2016. As a writer and theatre maker it was the natural place to go. In 2015 Edgar had been given 3/4 weeks to live following a heart condition which he had managed for over 30 years. With an imminent terminal diagnosis when no more could be done to improve his health he came back from hospital to die at home. Despite all the predictions however he lived for a further 15 months. In large part this was to do with an attitude of mind and a full engagement still in the world, family and thought despite being bedridden and confined to his bedroom. Somehow he managed to live this period largely with grace and positivity by looking outside himself into the world, and stubbornly refusing to reduce his rich imagination and sheer love of life. He travelled through this time and space in much the way he had told me stories when I was a child. During this time I began a Facebook group, firstly for updates about Edgar's progress, but soon it turned into an open, tender and insightful conversation about death and dying. It was full of rich reflections and the resounding message was that it was a much welcome space to open up the often taboo discussion about mortality, our own and those we love. It was also a space to share stories of parent/child relationships, about the things we lay down in our children's lives that have a lifetime of significance. The play is a result of these conversations and it has been through many iterations in the intervening years, with a rehearsed reading at UEL with Ria Butler, a Zoom reading during the pandemic. It's been scrutinised by critical friends, supported by writers and writing mentors Claire Steele, Tony Humphreys, Nick Crean, Carl Blackburn. Through making this piece we want to share the story of a journey of love and caring and the liminal space inhabited in the time of impending loss. We know that so many of us live lives of caring behind closed doors and the toll emotionally and economically can be enormous. We want to share this story as an act of commonality and solidarity with those travelling this path right now. I am also a celebrant and have learnt so much from my work with families in grief when supporting them in writing and officiating funeral ceremonies. https://www.linkedin.com/in/carolepluckrose/ Carole Pluckrose instagram Tickets and further details of our writing workshop day on 1st July https://tinyurl.com/354ut7s3Support The Dex Legacy Season 2 fundraiser https://tinyurl.com/9ryhppyzSupport the show

Talking ice cream and food is a lot of fun, but this week it's back to what That's So Cincinnati does best: Politics. Hamilton County GOP Chairman Alex Triantafilou joins the podcast to talk about: The Trump 'juggling act' in a blue-trending county Targeting suburban women voters in 2020 Joe Deters' $500,000 statement And will Steve Chabot have a primary opponent? Plus, Enquirer Pulitzer Prize winner Dan Horn stops by to chat about "The Road" poverty project. And of course, hosts Sharon Coolidge and Jason Williams have a little fun and talk kayaking in Greater Cincinnati, country music (ugh) and rain (double ugh.)
Enquirer reporters Carol Motsinger and Dan Horn join That's So Cincinnati to talk about Cincinnati.com's four-part series on the long hard road poverty project. They go behind the scenes of their exhaustive reporting process to tell real people's stories from Middletown to Cincinnati to Falmouth, Kentucky. Also this week, a local lawmaker gets arrested, the landslide solution and two very memorable That's So Cincinnati moments of the week.
A group of reporters at The Cincinnati Enquirer worked together to create a multimedia series that would tell the real story of one week of the heroin epidemic in the Cincinnati metropolitan area from many different aspects. To tackle this voluminous task, it would take the commitment of the whole newsroom, says Dan Horn the leader of this reporting and photographic entourage. Once the group got approval from editors for this project, they launched into a massive effort to look at the heroin epidemic from many different angels. They used data as well as personal stories of addiction, overdose, rehabilitation and death. They also examined the impacts of the newborns and babies of addicts, according to Anne Saker, who covers the science of health and the business of medicine for the Enquirer. The result was that this series won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting. Horn says they were not looking for an award while assembling the story. Instead, they were seeking ways of bringing the scourge of the heroin epidemic into the minds and hearts of readers and viewers. They wanted to put faces on the statistics and show the problem of addiction at multiple levels. For example, Saker followed one young mother who had an 8 month old child. The young woman was working her way through a rehab program and was about to emerge back into society. Saker then learned that after 10 days, the mother died from an overdose and the baby is now with relatives. Horn and Saker say this type of story is not atypical. Yet, sometimes rehab does work and recovering addicts go on to lead productive and drug-free lives. Horn and Saker also talked with the Spectrum Podcast about the emotional attachment they felt as reporters to the series and how many of the people in the newsroom felt real pain and anguish after the story had been published. Dan Horn, Infocom Dan Horn stated as a programmer at Scott Adams’ Adventure International, where he programmed the Atari version of Treasure Quest. Then he moved to Infocom where he was technical director, then became head of the microcomputing group. This interview took place on May 21, 2015. Teaser quotes: “The feelies were really the copy protection. If you had a feelie, you were compelled — not really for copy protection purposes — but you were compelled to have it because it was cool.” “With the Atari we had thousands of colors. We had the rippling, shimmering effect, and we had all this other stuff. Now, most of it never got to an Infocom game. But it was cool!”
