‘Aether' is the much-anticipated debut album of Forlorn, the ‘folk horror' band who blend expressionist art, crushing soundscapes and paganism to carve out their own brand of innovative alternative music. Throughout ‘Aether', Forlorn pay their respects to the major 'elements', acting as part of a progressing metal pagan ritual. The juxtaposition of ethereal vocals, with chaotic drums and crushing low-level guitars, paired with vocalist Megan Jenkin's brutal screams, bring together Forlorn's unique sound and visual identity. Their haunting live presence has also graced stages across the UK, alongside artists like Dying Wish, DESTRAGE, CRYPTA, Ithica, Devil Sold His Soul and URNE as well as festivals like at Radar Festival, Tech Fest and Collision Festival. Anyone who has seen Forlorn live can attest to the immersive experience it is, with us describing our first time seeing them in 2022 as: A 30-minute showcase of dreamy post-metal with the sharpness of hardcore, explosivity of metalcore and a touch of Midsommar-esqe eeriness. 2025 is looking to be the year they truly break out, and ‘Aether' will be released on March 28th, 2025, via Church Road Records. We spoke to vocalist Megan and guitarist Edd about the new album, and the journey that Forlorn has been on over the past few years. We also learn how Forlorn has slowly found its identity, taking that creativity to another level, expanding on it in both record and live form, and so much more. Welcome to Trve. Cvlt. Pop! a brand new podcast about music from the mind of Stephen Hill and Sam Sleight. It's about all and any music, and that's reflected pretty well in our first episode where we look at the best in recent pop music by discussing new albums from Rina Sawayama, No Devotion, Lizzo, Blackpink, Demi Lovato and Noah Cyrus. Plus we discuss Ozzy Osbourne's first ever US Billboard number one album, tell you what songs have been stuck in our heads this week, with Sam obsessing over Italian progressive math metal weirdos Destrage and Steve unable to shake an underrated Nine Inch Nails banger from his mind, and end of a pretty gross chat about one of us happy and willing to suck the Norovirus from a member of Godflesh.

We also chat about the band's Stone Temple Pilots cover on the new album, the story behind Devin Townsend's guest spot, a analogy that he was told about the difference between cultures in America and Italy, and why he questions the phrase cultural appropriation. This week's episode also features a discussion between Petar, Jozalyn, and Sylvia about some of the week's big headlines, including the tragic passing of Soilwork guitarist David Andersson, our thoughts on The Black Dahlia Murder continuing on without Trevor Strnad, and Tommy Lee overcharging his fans to join his Only Fans page. Steve and Remfry cast their critical eye upon it, as well as new albums by Rammstein, Morrissey, Destrage and Petrol Girls There's also sad new to impart from the Slipknot camp and Steve has an unsolicited theory as to the identity of their new member, plus trade-off goes from the sublime to the utterly turgid with The Hold Steady's Boys and Girls in America and Collapsed Lung's Cooler both being discussed.
