It's time for another episode of The Valleycast, in which we discuss all this FURIOSA DRAMA, as well as the ROCK'S PEE, and we mourn the palpable absence of this podcast's backbone, Elliott Morgan, who was unable to attend today's event due to being in a lazy river in Mexico. Yes, indeed, we have a brand-new episode. One wonders why the boys are talking about The Rock's pee, which is a phenomenon only one of us has experienced. I recall the day I thought "this person in the stall next to me apparently has a fire hose for a phallus," only to discover it was The Rock. Does this imply that the Rock was perhaps juicing or consuming performance-enhancing drugs, a known side effect being urinary abundance? I cannot say, nor can they. All I can say is that The Rock seems like he's very well hydrated. Thanks for your time, everyone, and may God help us all.

On May 20, 1967 in Canada's Whiteshell Provincial Park, a Polish man named Stefan Michalak encounters a UFO while prospecting for quartz. Stefan's body is burned from the UFO's noxious gasses and the entire UFO landing site remains radioactive to this day. Almost immediately, the the United States Air Force and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police get involved "investigating" the case, making this specific encounter the most well-documented UFO case of all time. Joining us to provide some much needed psychological insight on this haunted alien adventure is Elliott Morgan of The Fundamentalist Podcast! What do you think happened to Stefan on May 20, 1967? Why? Because I was in the jungles of Costa Rica hanging with sloths at the time of this recording? That's no excuse. I had wifi sporadically. I could have texted my thoughts, but no one asked, and that is NOT cool-- that is NOT fulfilling--that is NOT dope, dawg. And to what end? What now am I to do with a missed opportunity to scratch my chin and look up and mutter something about Zizek? How can my incredibly fragile ego keep itself together without the glue of baseless conjecture and self-aggrandizing philosophy talk? What am I to do with this Valleycast-shaped hole, and moreover, what about you? What about, I don't know, our podcast LISTENERS who must now walk through life without my often-convoluted and factually fuzzy make-em-ups? Anyway, great question, Kevin, but don't think this kind of behavior will result in anything other than a firm talking-to... not in any disciplinary way, I just figured I'd recommend James Hillman's "The Soul's Code," as I think it might really resonate with your inherent genius and also you're fired.
In this final episode of Season 01, Jonathan and Jeff wrap things up by establishing their definitive positions on all of the topics discussed over the previous 14 episodes. Just kidding! Instead, they reflect on what they discussed, what were the questions raised, and what contributed to the conversational paths they meandered along. They touch on the value of paying kids to do huge, non-utilitarian projects that they express interest in. They discuss the challenge of coming up with definitions and why a good definition can be so satisfying -- and how definitions can still carry the weight of our implicit biases. They talk about how exciting and interesting "big idea" books can be, and how they are probably also only 6% right (that number was of course mathematically deduced and can be wholly relied upon). They ask whether the words "saliva" and "salience" have a common root. (Postscript: They don't!). Jonathan introduces the important concept of "hard pants" -- a term which Jeff has used in work meetings since the recording of this episode. During the second half of the show, they talk about the sorts of topics that they might be interested in discussing during Season 02. Some of the topics mentioned include: technology, myth and symbolism, sci-fi and fantasy, culture-making, and The Two Popes. Prior to reviewing these, Jon raises a few remaining questions he has about capitalism. This leads to a discussion about the centrality of "trust" to so many topics. Jeff and Jon talk about the subject of "culture" and what topics might come up under that category -- including sub-culture, media and entertainment, workplace culture, etc. Jeff goes on a slight rant about the impact of the winds of reality upon the boundaries of Christendom and how this is a good thing that has led to new possibilities. And they finish with some exploration of whether they have received any emails over the course of the season. (The jury is still out on this question.) GWNTT’ers!!! This week, Aleta tried to pick a light movie. Epic fail. Though set in the Spring/Summer in the beautiful Athens, Georgia, The Spectacular Now dives into the deep topics of alcoholism, addictive personalities, facing the very human side of your parents, and coming of age. Aleta and Krystle dish about their love of Miles Teller. They discuss Athens, and how both want to visit. And even talk about how The Spectacular Now was Roger Ebert’s last awarded 4-star film and his moving review of the film. As always, the girls go off on tangents. This week’s include: KW talking about the dramatic performance of football, her 6 degrees of separation from John Green and Miles Teller, and even being on stage with and kissing Elliott Morgan. Aleta tells of her first visit to Athens and seeing the oh-so-steamy Theo James! Give it a listen, won't you?! Elliott Morgan, comedian and PhD candidate in depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute, joins us to explore humor and psyche. Elliott grew up a fundamentalist Christian in central Florida, and has gone from practicing holy laughter to creating HOLY SH*T, his comedy special on Amazon (also featuring Jung’s debut on the comedic stage). Elliott’s college major, zoology, prepared him to play Goofy at Disney World and Big Bird on Hollywood Blvd. A recovering Nice Person, Elliott draws on life experiences, relentlessly engages shadow, and uses laughter to turn suffering into soul making. Hitting rock bottom led to the choice not to fall back into old patterns but to fall forward; Elliott’s new life features avocado toast and other radical practices. Jung, quoting Schopenhauer, said, “A sense of humor is the only divine quality of man,” and Elliott’s storytelling and self-disclosure define the alchemy of fellowship, insight, and human spirit. Elliott’s podcasts, The Valleycast and The Fundamentalists, are additional paths to laughter and transcendence (see YouTube.com/ElliottMorgan). Elliott will perform live in Washington State at the Spokane Comedy Club on June 23 and at the Tacoma Comedy Club on June 24. Dream I am taking a ballet class in a room in a famous building in NYC. The room is shaped like my old apartment in Brooklyn. The building is by the water and there are windows but no good views. It’s dark, rainy and storming outside. The class becomes full and crowded, too crowded to really dance. I feel content, I feel like I’m home. The room is dark. I can’t make out anyone’s faces, including my ballet teacher’s face. Soon the rain starts to seep into the room. The floors are getting wet. It seems like the room is caving in and I am scared that the old building is falling over from the rain. I worry that the floors are getting ruined with the rain but my ballet teacher doesn’t seem worried. We all leave the room. I am worried we are running out of time and the building will collapse. No one else seems scared. There are two exits: the elevator or the stairs. The elevator looks dangerous because the rain is seeping in and the elevator runs on electricity. The stairwell shows that we are on the 43 or 44th floor of the building. The stairs are flooded and look slippery. But I think the stairs are safer than taking the elevator. You can be forgiven for not being familiar with 'pyrotheology', the lifelong philosophy project of Peter Rollins. In this episode of Humanize Me, Bart Campolo attempts a philosophical deep dive with Pete, a friend of the podcast for years. It’s a very lively, argumentative conversation on the differences between Bart and Pete on human drive and desire, humanism, religion, death, meaning and meaninglessness.Along the way, the pair touch on dialectics, human evolution, dual instincts, psychoanalysis, Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson, ontological antagonism, fundamentalism and the death of God.We recommend Pete's podcast, The Fundamentalists, where he lays out his ideas to the keen interest of his friend, the comedian Elliott Morgan. mikefalzone.com is where to go for all the latest Mike Falzone news. Special guests Elliott Morgan and Joe Bereta join Steve on this episode of DB.
Coming off a really rough week in the world, I offer some of my strategies for making my depression brain do things it really doesn't want to do, like stay alive sometimes and segue into an episode that represents what I think is the surest way in the world to make life better and that is just spending time talking with friends you really love. Elliott Morgan is very funny and smart and in complete disclosure we got kinda too high on this episode, which is not normally something I do before interviews, and it's probably the least focused most truly good bad brain pinball extravaganza we've done yet but, you know what, it might be one of my favorites. I don't know. You'll love it or hate it. Maybe it'll work to just zone out and lose any sense of meaning and just hear Elliott and I bounce words off each other in the way we love to do. Mike and Steve bungled it. It's time for a special episode where Elliott Morgan interviews anti-famous Wrestlin' Fred.
Steve is out of town and I guess that serves Mike right for ditching out on the show last week. Mike enlists the help of long time tall man Elliott Morgan. Elliott and Mike speak about a myriad of things, including but not limited to a knock-off show based on The Office called The Workplace.
Andrew Delman & Elliott Morgan join Mike Falzone & Steve Zaragoza for what some are calling "A 4-Boy P'Cast". Mike Falzone and Elliott Morgan talk about recent jokes of theirs that no one has laughed at. When that gets old they dig deep and find the true meaning behind some of the most famous 90s songs of all time in the 90s!
Hilarious YouTuber, comedian, host, and all-around entertaining human being Elliott Morgan stopped by for this week’s podcast, and I couldn't be more excited. We covered a lot of ground in this episode, including why bunny rabbits can only have desk jobs, why 90s Nickelodeon game shows are (still) THE BEST, and which Jenner family member he would choose to fart in front of, marry, or be kidnapped by. This is a super-sized episode, so let's bedazzle some neck braces, pee next to The Rock, and DO THIS. - Please remember that this episode is brought to you for free by our extremely generous sponsors: Squarespace and Loot Crate.
