Eric Chang is a husband, father, the founder of Reason Fitness, a published author, and a student of life.He is a coach and believes that everyone should have someone in their corner helping them chase their goals and realize their capabilities. He has been a in the health and fitness industry for 15+ years and helps people become the best versions of themselves. Eric is a coach and an author because he believes everyone should have someone in their corner helping them chase their goals and realize their capabilities. Eric loves coaching because he loves seeing people win the fight for their health, relationships, and goals. His greatest passion is turning unbelief into belief in oneself. There's nothing more fulfilling to him than setting someone on the path toward the life they always dreamed of but never realized they could actually have.Eric spent years thinking he was fighting his fight. In reality, Eric was throwing jabs and hooks at the air, fighting an opponent that wasn't there. He felt held back by his upbringing. He felt discontent in his relationships. It felt impossible to prioritize his health. He felt stuck in a job that just paid the bills. He blamed each of these things for keeping him from where he really wanted to be. And while Eric was busy throwing punches anywhere and everywhere, he never actually faced the fight holding him back from his destiny. He thought he was fighting, but he was actually running. Because it's easy to blame what you can't change. It's harder to take responsibility for what you can. Facing his fight meant trading his excuses for his destiny, and his purpose is to help you do the same. Eric's dream is to stand with you as you face your fight, recognize your real opponent, and open the door to your freedom.Website: ericfreedom.comInstagram: @coachericfreedom @reasonfitTwitter: @theericfreedomPodcasts: We the Trust Podcast Finding Reason Podcast__________________SGV Master Key Podcast:www.sgvmasterkey.cominfo@sgvmasterkey.com

I was in Taipei when the Legislative Yuan, which is the equivalent of the parliament in Taiwan, was occupied by students and activists in an effort to block the passage of the trade agreement between Taiwan and China. It was the beginning of what became known as the Sunflower Movement. The day before, on March 17, the Kuomintang (KMT) had attempted to force through passage of the CSSTA in Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, without giving it a clause-by-clause review. Several days later at a press conference on March 23rd Taiwan's then President Ma Ying-jeou stated his resolve in passing the trade agreement. That night, students and activists attempted to occupy the Executive Yuan in protest. A few days later, on March 28th I spoke with Eric Chang who joined students and protestors outside of the Executive Yuan on the 23rd. He was there when police started breaking up the students and protestors, himself among them, and he shared what he saw and experienced that night in episode 121. At the time I spoke to Eric it had been only 10 days since the occupation of the Legislative Yuan, so the situation at the Legislative Yuan and the Sunflower Movement was still unfolding and this of course was before we knew what the outcome would be. It's interesting to look back on it and hear my conversation with Eric in pre-COVID times, and way before the insurrection of the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. We talked about the role of social media in the occupation of the Legislative Yuan, how the Sunflower Movement galvanized young people in Taiwan at the time, and the atmosphere outside the Legislative Yuan while it was occupied; every day there were thousands of people from all walks of life gathered outside in the streets surrounding the Legislative Yuan. Here's a little preview of what we talked about in this podcast episode: · What the occupation of the Legislative Yuan by students and activists means for Taiwan's democracy · What the scene/situation around the occupied Legislative Yuan was like · Comparisons between the occupation of Taiwan's Legislative Yuan with what would happen if people tried to occupy the U.S. Capitol Building · How peaceful and organized the student protestors are; they have set up a variety of stations for supplies, to charge mobile phones, for recycling, first aid · Professors have given lectures outside in the perimeter of the Legislative Yuan · A sausage vendor that's set up outside of the Legislative Yuan and is giving out sausage for free · Medical and legal professionals who have volunteered to help the student protestors · How Eric and his friend Dwagie (Taiwanese hip hop artist/rapper) have visited the Legislative Yuan area since the occupation · The March 30th Rally in support of the Sunflower Movement that took place globally · The Taiwan Voice Facebook page · How people can speak publicly or perform in the area surrounding the occupied Legislative Yuan · Lazy Habits, a jazz hip hop band performed outside of the occupied Legislative Yuan · High school students in Tainan (in southern Taiwan) are speaking out publicly about the occupation of the Legislative Yuan · How the Sunflower Movement has galvanized people across Taiwan · How Eric has seen friends who are KMT supporters come out in support of the Sunflower Movement and occupation of the Legislative Yuan · How young people learn about news through social media, Facebook and PTT, a popular local bulletin board founded by a National Taiwan University student in 1995 · Whether or not the pact (Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement) will get passed · How the Sunflower Movement has made people feel more comfortable to free to speak out publicly Related Links: To view all related links for this article, click link below: https://talkingtaiwan.com/eric-chang-on-the-unfolding-situation-at-the-legislative-yuan-during-the-sunflower-movement-ep-231/

I'm Josh Cooperman, this is Convo By Design and today we are taking a look back at some previously incredible design events. It's a very strange experience for me to rerun past episodes will including the original open. My voice changes every year, just like yours does, and while I have gotten comfortable with the recorded sound of my voice, strange cadence and often tangential leaps, it is very odd hearing these older episodes. But, I do it because I started recording these conversations in 2012 for a 2013 Convo BY Design launch. I did it because, believe it or not, when CXD began, I was the only one there to record these events like this one featuring Patrick Tighe, Cliff Fong and Eric Chang, moderated by Erika Heet. I'm glad I did, I hope you are as well. We'll get right to it right after this. Thank you to this distinguished group. Loved it even more now than I did then. Like wine, art and architecture, a good conversation only gets better with age and I am so happy that I could share it with you. Thank you to CXD partners and sponsors; ThermaSol, Article Furniture, Moya Living, York Wallcoverings and Franz Viegener. Please make sure to check the show notes for links to each of these remarkable companies. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to subscribe and listen to the show. I appreciate you. Until next week, remember why you do what you do and take today first. CXD

Neural Implant podcast - the people behind Brain-Machine Interface revolutions
Eric Chang is a Neuroscientist and Assistant Professor at the Institutes of Bioelectronic Medicine and Molecular medicine at the Feinstein Institutes of medical research at Northwell Health. His areas of interests are Neuro-immunology, electrophysiology, microscopy and bioengineering. In today’s episode, Eric talks to us about his work with the vagus nerve and approaches being used in his lab to understand signalling between the nervous system and immune system. Top three takeaways: We haven't got technology that can image individuals neurons connected to the vagus nerve but in the near future, the tools might evolve to do this. Recording neural signals in different patients lets you see different types of variations across patients and informs how you design treatments based on that person’s neurobiology. “There are the traditional senses that are related to exteroception, like sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. There's a plethora of as I mentioned, interoceptive signals as well that have to do with organ function.” [0:00] Ladan introduces the episode and the guest, Eric Chang [1:50] Eric Chang introduces himself and his work. His lab is interested in finding the connection between the nervous system and immune system [3:45] How is imaging different from electrophysiology and what are the advantages and disadvantages of both? [6:10] “So I would say patch-clamp electrophysiology, which is patching a single cell with a glass pipette, is still the gold standard, but the tools are rapidly coming to the fore that are starting to replace that a little bit.” [11:20] Eric talks about some of the challenges with imaging individual neurons connected to the vagus nerve, especially where there is a lot of movement. [12:50] While the technology is quite small now, it’s not so small that it could quite fit into a necklace. Eric believes that somewhere in the next 5 - 10 years, something of the sort will be available. [13:40] “Dr Tracey's work from two decades ago showed the discovery of something called the inflammatory reflex which is that If you electrically stimulate the vagus nerve under conditions of inflammation, let's say acute endotoxemia, then you can reduce levels of circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines” [20:00] Eric discusses some of the tools used to tease apart different signals. [23:05] Eric talks about some future breakthroughs he expects. [27:00] “Yeah. So the nerve innervation exists for protection; it's for survival. We need to know when we're getting close to a fire” [28:00] Eric talks about the importance of understanding pain. [31:00] “There are the traditional senses that are related to exteroception, like sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. There's a plethora of as I mentioned, interoceptive signals as well that have to do with organ function.”

A note from Talking Taiwan host Felicia Lin: March 23rd will mark the seventh anniversary of the short-lived occupation of the Executive Yuan by students involved in the Sunflower Movement of 2014. The Sunflower Movement began when students and activists occupied the Legislative Yuan on March 18, 2014 in an effort to block the passage of a trade pact between Taiwan and China. At a press conference on March 23, then President Ma Ying-jeou stated his resolve in passing the trade pact. This led to the students attempt to occupy the Executive Yuan. Five days afterward, on March 28, 2014, I spoke to Eric Chang also known as Ahbying, who was there that night about what he saw firsthand and experienced that night. Here’s a little preview of what we talked about in this podcast episode: His candid conversation with a cop at the Executive Yuan before the scene turned violent His firsthand account of what he saw and experienced the night that students tried to occupy the Executive Yuan How he reacted when the police hit him The media’s coverage of what happened on March 23rdat the Executive Yuan His thoughts of the occupation of the Legislative Yuan and Sunflower Movement Related Links: Eric’s Ahbying YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/ahbying Sunflower Movement: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunflower_Student_Movement

Jeff Heggie Daily Success Strategies 072: Success Formula www.JeffHeggie.com Our first task every Monday is to set up your week. Go through your Weekly and your Daily Mindset Questions. Figure out what you want to accomplish by Friday that will get you closer to your bigger goals. Then work backwards and figure out what you need to do each day to ensure you've accomplished those things by Friday. Schedule those things in, block your time, and make it happen. In this episode of Daily Success Strategies I want to pull together things from previous episodes and tie them all together. I want you to put your strategies and plan in place to achieve your goals. If you have not done it yet, go to www.JeffHeggie.com and take the FREE Momentum training that will help you determine the goals you REALLY want, how you are going to do it, and most importantly WHY! The steps I want you to take now are. 1. Begin With The End in Mind Go back and listen to Episode 060 HERE It's hard to get somewhere if you don't know where you are going. You must start by knowing your future outcome. When you know this end goal, our mindset questionsare designed to help you to start visioning these outcomes. Your mind and body don't know the difference between what is real and what you vividly imagine. So as you can start to vividly see these outcomes, your mind will help you find the way to achieve them. 2. Know Your WHY This is a big part of my Momentum Series because it is so important. If you go back to Episode 071: Why, Not How I spend time talking about focusing on the WHY of your goals rather than trying to figure out the HOW or the Strategy of achieving them. As Jim Rohn said, “Reasons come first, how comes second.” 3. Take Massive Action Knowing your goals, vividly imaging them in your mind, and knowing your why are vitally important. But those three things alone are not going to achieve your goals. You now must take massive action and start working towards their achievement. 4. Know What You're Getting The next part is to know the results you are getting. My friend, Eric Chang, recently gave a great TEDx Talk called “Why I've Learned to Stop Saying These Three Dangerous Words: Don't Give Up.” Eric makes some great points in this talk. We all know how important persistence is in success, but we also need to recognize when we are working hard, giving massive action, but doing the wrong thing. Recognize the results you are getting and it will take you to my final point. 5. Change Your Approach If you are not getting the results that are taking you to your goal, by knowing what you are getting you can change your approach and keep going. Not getting your desired results does not mean you should quit. It means you need to make some changes and keep going. When you purposefully start to put these things together to help you achieve your goals you are going to start to see your goals and dreams come true. I'm excited to hear how this is working out for you. Please leave some comments and share your success!
In this episode, you will hear three brothers (Eric Chang, Gary Lee and Jacob Park) sharing their thoughts on COVID19. We are talking on three major questions: what are the issues? how does your church respond to them? and how can we maximize them for God's Kingdom.

This is an actual dream come true: today we're talking to Lorne Peterson, visual effects artist and modeler for Industrial Light & Magic. Working on the first six Star Wars films, Lorne goes through his experience building escape pods out of paint cans, manning Guatemalan outpost towers made out of trash cans and sourcing Tauntaun fur (which you have to hear to believe). And I am legitimately giggling the entire time, which is very embarrassing. We barely scratch the surface of the incredible work that Mr. Peterson has done over the past forty years, so definitely check out his book, Sculpting a Galaxy, which is available from Insight Editions: https://insighteditions.com/product/sculpting-a-galaxy/ (There is also a super limited edition version of the book, which has been tempting me for years now, so buy it and make me very jealous.) I want to give a huge thank you to Eric Chang and the rest of the great Insight Editions team for arranging this interview. We have some cool stuff in the works with them, including one more interview which was very fun. Our Talking Bay 94 web store is officially live with our first round of merch.
