In Dracula, Bram Stoker's count moved far and wide around the city. We'll trace his footsteps and learn hidden coding to the novel's London locations. What's a modern vampire to do in the city? Folge direkt herunterladen

Unlocking the Magic of London: An Exclusive Chat with Ben Aaronovitch!Join us for an enthralling conversation with Ben Aaronovitch! Born and bred in London, Ben's upbringing may have seemed mundane, but it sparked two enduring passions: imbibing and Science Fiction. Fortunately, his love for the latter propelled his early career as he penned episodes for legendary shows like Doctor Who (long before it became trendy), Casualty, and even the budget-friendly soap opera, Jupiter Moon.Despite a career setback in the late 1990s, Ben found his stride while overseeing the Crime and Science Fiction sections at #waterstones in Covent Garden. It was there that he ventured into novel writing, giving birth to the immensely popular Rivers of London series. With the resounding success of the first book, he promptly embraced a full-time writing career, bidding farewell to his day job without hesitation.Ben remains firmly rooted in his cherished London, affectionately dubbing it 'the capital of the world.' He jokes that he'll only depart when they prise London from his cold, lifeless hands. Rest assured, he reassures us, he's diligently crafting the next #PeterGrant novel, steering clear of losing himself in computer games—truly. Tune in for an enlightening discussion with the mastermind behind the Rivers of London series!______________________________________Find out more: www.TheWritingCommunityChatShow.ComTHE WCCS – TOGETHER AS ONE WE GET IT DONE!If you would like to advertise your #book on the show, to enroll in a book launch interview, or to have a WCCS social media shout out, visit here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/TheWCCSFOLLOW US► Our website – https://www.thewritingcommunitychatshow.com► Universal link – https://linktr.ee/TheWCCS► Buy the show a coffee – https://www.buymeacoffee.com/TheWCCS► Use hashtag TheWritingCommunityChatShow or TheWCCS on social media to keep us current. aus magischen Gründen ist der Beschreibungstext heute unsichtbar.... ausser ihr könnt die "Vestiga" spüren - dann solltet ihr auch den Text lesen können.

Ben Aaronovitch is the bestselling author of the Rivers of London series, the latest of which, Amongst Our Weapons, is just out! Before becoming a successful author, Ben worked in screenwriting, writing episodes of Doctor Who, Casualty and more - but it was only when he was working as a bookseller in Waterstones that the idea of writing novels struck him.It was great fun chatting with Ben about his career, hearing about the highs and lows, where the idea for Rivers of London came from and why he thinks it has become such a massive success. On top of that, we talk about the buying habits of different genre readers, structure of stories and why he can't choose between real books, ebooks and audiobooks...Links:Buy Amongst Our Weapons and Ben's other books now!Visit Ben's websiteFollow Ben on TwitterPage One - The Writer's Podcast is brought to you by Write Gear, creators of Page One - the Writer's Notebook. The Follycast Episode 11: What Abigail Did That Summer In this month’s episode… We conclude our look at the three Rivers Of London novellas by Ben Aaronovitch that have been published so far, with the (at time of recording) recently published What Abigail Did That Summer. With Peter and Beverly away in Herefordshire investigating unicorn-related child adbuctions, Abigail has adventures on and around Hampstead Heath, assisted by her friend Simon and a band of talking foxes. Of the three novellas this generates the most debate on the pod. Do these novellas set during earlier gaps in the Rivers timeline lack a sense of jeopardy? How successful is Ben Aaronovitch writing as a teenage girl? How many cheese puffs out of five will we give it? Next episode we come bang up to date with the most recent main novel, False Value. London began its life as Old Londinium—an informal trading community that sprang up around the narrowest point in the Thames, and was burned to the ground by Boudicca's army just decades after its founding. This week, we asked bestselling urban fantasy author Ben Aaronovitch to take us on a tour of Old Londinium—say, the day before Boudicca's arrival. Join us as we explore the streets and rivers of this diverse and enterprising trading town, and then wander all the way up Watling Street to Hadrian's Wall. The Follycast Episode 10: The October Man In this month’s episode… We continue our three part look at the Rivers Of London novellas by Ben Aaronovitch that have been published so far, with The October Man. For the first time in the podcast we leave Peter, The Folly and London behind as we investigate uncanny events in Trier, Germany with a new team. We also discuss the nature of spin-offs more generally and are actually surprised in hindsight at how many new things we learn about the rules of the Rivers universe. Some have direct implications for the unfolding story in London, particularly the nature of River Gods and their offspring. As a result, we totally forget to ask the most obvious question: who is the October Man? Next episode: What Abigail Did That Summer. Kedysi by ste si to v slovenskom právnom prostredí predstavovali len ťažko. Dnes už ale každá slušnejšia právnická kancelária chce pomáhať najslabším: a robí to zadarmo. Lenže, prečo vlastne tieto pro bono aktivity fungujú? Komu sa takto pomáha? A nezlyháva náhodou štát, keď záchrannú sieť musia poskytovať súkromné firmy?
Ben Aaronovitch started writing for Doctor Who and became the author of the bestselling Peter Grant series that started with Rivers Of London in 2011 and has been hugely successful, regularly hitting the Sunday Times bestsellers top ten. We were delighted to get Ben for a conversation full of fireworks.
