Ekaterina attended several residencies, including at Centre Pompadour in Abbeville, France, NES Residency in Iceland, the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Greece. She works out of her rustic factory studio at 1241 Carpenter Street Studios in Philadelphia. 'For the past few years, I have been exploring interiors in my work. The interest started as a way for me to reflect on my upbringing in Russia, but eventually progressed to exploring the overall idea of “home” and what it means me now. The work has slowly evolved from being reflective and sentimental to being mindful and present in my current environment. I repeatedly paint my own bedroom, visit other people's houses, and use reference photos submitted to me by others online. My paintings include messy rooms, intimate items, and objects that refer to human presence without including the figure. I pick up on the subtle tones, lighting, and mood of each location to capture the emotion I associate with the space and then exaggerate the color to create a dream-like image.' https://linktr.ee/katerinaspopova IG @katerinaspopova IG @createmagazine https://www.katerinapopova.com --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/borntocreatepodcast/message

Jillian is an AUSTRALIAN ARTIST in London, a PODCASTER @artfictionspodcast an occasional ART WRITER. Her art practice brings stillness to the fractured process of perceiving what is present: a circumstance constantly in flux. Stretching from stories and landscape to philosophy and biology, she directs her research toward historical and contemporary ideas of origins, lineage, and place, as well as the connections between these. She attempts to describe the paradoxical relationship between rationality, memory, body, context, and experimentation. This is underscored by the complicated familial history she experienced growing up in Australia. Jillian mostly creates minimal, abstract paintings, which convey an interplay between foreground and background to confuse where the image began, its process of development, and the location of its final brushstrokes. The work is derived by layering one production method over another so that the resulting image mimics layers in editing software as if they could be separated and reconfigured. Taking their cue from the structures of modernist language, compositions often conflate a formalist approach with its direct opposite, such as minute detail, patterning, or mark-making governed by body movements. The result asserts and undermines the painting's otherwise idealistic, singular simplicity. These artistic inquiries extend to art writing and podcast discussions to explore imagery's complex fluidity. Stephanie is a multidisciplinary artist and creative from Berkshire, England. Her work is focused on ‘the human condition.' Drawing inspiration from her own life experiences and by the observation of others' In Stephanies highly emotive and expressive works, the aim is to invite the viewer to question, with hope of discovery. Abstraction and surrealism are the predominant genres used, often with a strong conceptual angle that furthers her ideas. Experimentation is key to Stephanie's practice, especially as she is a kinaesthatic learner, using varying mediums and techniques. www.stephaniebrant.art mail@stephaniebrant.art In this episode Stephanie and I talk about being creative for creative sake, the denial of ones own creativity and devaluing the importance of art globally, using creativity as her voice, especially through challenging times, from challenges within childhood to health related issues. Art has been Stephanies tool for connection with people, aswell as a tool to express herself and has given her strength and energy for life to stop playing small and being her own person, doing what she desires and creating fulfilment in her life. It is what helps her to put herself out there and do the things that feel unconfortable for her, such as going live online and doing interviews, despite the nerves she feels, she feels a pull from her art to come out of her shell and claim being herself and showing it to the world, which I find so fascinating and loved this conversation with her. Other topics we touched on are neurodivergence and the effects we have on the planet with out choices, which started through a conversation we found ourselves having through her artwork and what she was communicating with it. Absolutely beautiful episode, which I can recommend to listen into if you are someone who has a lot to share, lots of creativity hidden within you, but feel a need, a desire to have your voice be heard, but feel that you are still lacking confidence to put yourself out there, here is a gentle invitation to you. Use your strengths that come naturally to you, and if you don't yet know what that is for you, follow your curiosities and go into playful exploration mode and allow things to come through. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/borntocreatepodcast/message
A powerful conversation about the power of your mind, the power of decision making through the heart and non-dependent on ones feelings or thoughts. Listening back to this episode gave me goosebumps and inspired me a lot. It is an episode that highlights the power of mindset, which when truly connected with to this level overrides mental health conditions that one might easily feel defeated by and not pursue ones dreams. Sheyla has been unstoppable in creating her dream, made the choice to be an artist no matter what. I think she is an inspiration and I can't wait for you to hear this episode. Sheyla is a self-taught painter, designer, and art entrepreneur known for colorful and gestural watercolor paintings. She is originally from Yauco, Puerto Rico but currently lives in Oahu, Hawai'i. She grew up watching the adults in her family working with their hands and this instilled an interest and a deep appreciation for artisanal work. As a child she attended many arts and crafts workshops offered by artisans in her local community. It was this exposure that influenced and fed her desire to seek and enjoy the act of making, painting and creating. Sheyla has been traveling and moving all over the USA and the world for over 13 years as a military spouse. With a moving lifestyle, she nurtured her creative practice through online courses. Her artistic formation comes by learning directly from professional artists since 2015. In 2020, she launched her online website to share her creations and art with the world. Today, in Hawaii she enjoys plein-air painting, gardening, hiking, snorkeling and exercising. She volunteers in her art community as a Workshop and Paint Out Event Coordinator. An 'accidental' artist with a passion about cultures, mythology, and symbols.Koorosh Nejad opens up about how he discovered his artistic side in the middle of the Pandemic, through an accidental momoent, helping him to recover from depression and find a new purpose in life.Nejad:'My art is my reflection on mythology, symbols, signs, characters, and other cultural elements of ancient civilizations. I research a particular culture first, then pick those elements I wish to use in the artwork, embed a dominant shape in the middle, add my own spin that is mainly inspired by cubism, do the details, then complete the painting. I am passionate to create work that reflects my love of the source material I work from. The ancient cultures and their untold stories, various mystery traditions, and the ever-unfolding and often mystical experience of being alive in a world that is apparently material, immaterial, and prone to all manner of interesting archetypal expressions and wonderments.'This episode is another example of the healing effects of art and how art seems to always come to be the one thing that helps people transform, especially when they haven't done art before. 'Synchronicity is an ever present reality for those who have eyes to see.' Carl Jung This episode features an artist, who ‘discovered' his art by observing that place Jung spoke of. He was led by synchronicity and was allowed by it to channel hidden information that proves the phenomenon of synchronicity comes from a timeless dimension, a spirit of nature synonymous with beauty, whose synergy develops our innate, hidden genius, and is something we can all tap into. It was a delight to have this conversation with Mark Dolamore, who styles himself the bringer of the first art discovery capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with anything out of science. Mark's focus is conceptual, from a systems and perception research viewpoint, having spent his life investigating synchronicity. The Jungian experience descended on him in his late twenties and then grew over a decade. Mark's early artistic goals grew out of a fascination with Jungian ideas through significant, memorable dreams at crucial points in time. This confluence of the inner and outer life is something Mark believes is related to the evolution of humanity and the self, something Jung referred to as: Individuation. Mark's story also involves an abiding interest in the oriental Bible, the I Ching. Its alignment with the natural order, the timing of events synonymous with synchronicity, which seems to dictate our destiny, requires a measure of conscious alignment with the Taoist path of fire, to catch its tide on the flood, as Shakespeare put it. Ancient oriental alchemy referred to it as the path of Li (fire). It was said a disciple of Tao knows when he's on the path of Li because answers came from left and right. It's a metaphor, an ancient description of synchronicity. Mark's path following the phenomenon sent him off to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where his Pyramid Art discovery emerged. He hopes people see the possibility of cultivating their spirituality through a similar feedback project they can direct themselves, involving a timeless dimension all life comes from and returns to.Mark is now unable to work without assistance, due to an illness that's robbed all his strength and confines him to a wheelchair.Get in touch and take advantage of his residential synchronicity training offer: markdolamore@yahoo.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/markdolamore/Twitter @mysterymanonehttps://www.papolona.guru/pyramid-art/0https://www.papolona.guru A published article: https://www.artrevealmagazine.com/the-revolutionary-art-of-mark-dolamore/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/borntocreatepodcast/message
Nasi is a 27 year old Dutch artist who works with mixed media on paper. The main material she uses is watercolours, but inks, acrylics and oil pastels are also included in her works. The subjects of her artworks are critical thoughts towards contemporary society or herself, often related to the problems with the ‘stone-age mind' (i.e. the discrepancy between contemporary society and our biology). In her work she explores deep emotions, trauma's and existential questions and tries to put them into a context which open up conversations around these taboos.Artistic Curriculum Vitae2021 May 30 - 'When Words Fail' juried online exhibition at visionaryartcollective. Straddling demographics, I often find myself observing the world from the periphery, and am particularly interested in examining the ways that we relate to our environments. Creating expressionist works, I use intuitive motions to unify bold color palettes and soft shapes, employing an abstract lens to explore themes of gender presentation, vulnerability and universal connectivity.'Kristen started doing Art after just one day feeling the need to create. She has a background in working in the corporate world and only discovered her Art after going to Art Therapy. We talked about anxiety and depression, not having to be an artist to be an artist and being connected to something greater...You are always a creative even if you don't engage with it and the thought processes that hold us back from creating is the same cause that creates unhappiness in life amidst other things.. For this Episode I am interviewing Scout Wilson!Wow what a beautiful interview! She has some wonderful quality and power to her within her sensitivity and depth! Scout mostly focuses on painting with a little tattooing on the side. She is a quiet person with a lot to say & art helps her get there. At the moment she works full time as a pharmacy technician, doing art shows on the weekends. Her father was an artist so he taught her at a very young age. She shares: "I paint my dreams in order to cope with stress and understand myself better. I had a rough childhood so after being a very outgoing child to a very reserved adult, I had to find ways to communicate and voice how I actually felt. By creating surreal worlds with powerful women being the center points, I bring a realness to me that I could never bring any other way. I tend to paint best with emotions running rampant, most of my super surreal pieces are from me having reoccurring dreams sometimes for weeks. Not saying I can't get any work done on a clear mind, but emotions fuel the fire."Here you can find Scout and her wonderful dreamy art:Linktr.ee/scoutwilsonartInstagram @scoutwilsonart Tiktok: scoutwilsonart Facebook: Scout wilson art Shopify: scout-wilson-art.myshopify.com --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/borntocreatepodcast/message

Instagram: @LaurenMagdaArt Website: LaurenMagda.comhttps://laurenmagda.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/laurenmagdaart/ Laurén is an abstract painter who uses her art as a meditation practice to infuse spiritual energy and concepts into her work. Her work aims to give others a sense of healing and inner-spiritual empowerment. She tells: 'My journey with my creativity has been a long and winding road, very much interwoven into my healing journey. Years went by after art school where I was barely creating. But a few years ago I decided to start an inner-healing journey with the help of a Spiritual coach, in which I confronted my childhood and generational trauma, artistic comparison hang-ups and challenged what my creativity meant through intuitive exploration. With the healing came a natural rebirth in what and how I create. In giving myself space from toxic influences and nurturing my mind, body and soul, I found the confidence to stop comparing my art to other artist's work and was freed from debilitating procrastination. I went from creating works my whole adult life that were objective to abstract and intuitive, and it's these works that resonate with others more than anything I've ever created. That's the beauty of embracing your natural instincts, but like me, it can take a lot of healing and uncovering to get there. 'I am struck by Lauréns spiritual and courageous essence and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to her and connecting with her! 'When I create, I feel the external world fall away. It's very much like meditation. Thoughts come and go like the clouds in the sky and organic inspiration happens. It's really a magical place to be, no matter how I'm feeling when I go into creating.' --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/borntocreatepodcast/message
