This year marks the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth. So we have been hearing a lot of him. Jay plays two pieces by him—two of his best, and most typical. There are also Spanish songs, by Obradors and Rodrigo. Some Schumann, some Vaughan Williams, and so on. Plus several stories—personal ones. An enriching, smile-making program. Obradors, “Del cabello más sutil” Rodrigo, “De ronda” Bernstein, Sonata for Clarinet and Piano Beethoven, “Leonore” Overture No. 3 Vaughan Williams, “Linden Lea” Ravel, “Pavane for a Dead Princess” Schumann, Sonata in D minor for Piano and Violin Handel, “Son nata a lagrimar,” from “Giulio Cesare” Ravel, “The Fairy Garden” from the “Mother Goose” Suite

Fall asleep with this 1-hour sleep meditation and bedtime story for grown-ups, "The Fairy Garden." An original story narrated by a relaxing female voice to help you fall asleep fast. Journey to the mystical seaside village of Marin Crest on a sunset walk past historic cottages. In this modern-day fairy tale, you gather around a fire pit in the heart of your garden with your pet. Sparks fly, mason jar lights twinkle, and lightning bugs welcome the fairies as they shine their light and visit once a year. The "Fairy of Time" arrives and offers sage advice as memories play out on marmalade flames in the fire. You retire in your cottage as the sleep fairy dusts the village and fall asleep. It's time to dream away. 00:41 Introduction 03:00 Guided Sleep Meditation & Talkdown 05:31 Bedtime Story for Grown-Ups Begins 38:55 Sleep Meditation Music & Cricket Sounds for Sleep Original Script, Voiceover, Music, and Clips from Michelle Hotaling, Dreamaway Visions LLC 2022 All Rights Reserved Social media & Contact Information - Interact with Michelle here : TWITTER: http://twitter.com/michsanctuary INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/michellessanctuary FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/michellessanctuary/ TIKTOK: tiktok.com/@michellessanctuary --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michelles-sanctuary/support
A Fairy garden can mean the world to you! A small world, yes. But a very special one! When you imagine all that you are able to create, what is it that you see? A special rose garden? A park? Maybe a cave? Whatever you see in your mind is possible! But when it comes to the actual creation, there may be some differences between what you first saw in your mind and what is in front of you. That's ok. Listen in and find a way through the creation process. Let's make a better world, one tiny display at a time! In this episode we share 3 activities that come from our Fairy Tale Course inside of our All Access Membership. Grab a drum and some rhythm sticks and let's enjoy these musical stories together. Old King Cole: for this one you need your drum and a mallet to keep a steady beat and do some actions. We'll also be learning about the musical concepts of staccato and legato during this activity. To watch the video of this activity and get some more ways to extend and adapt this song check out our latest blog post: https://www.clapforclassics.com/blog/oldkingcole The Little Red Hen: Grab your rhythm sticks for this one and make up some actions with your little one while you listen. This simple tune that we've added makes the story more memorable, we think you'll be singing and acting this one out all day. The Fairy Garden, from Ravel's Mother Goose Suite. For our final activity today we tell the end of the story of Sleeping Beauty while listening to this gorgeous classical piece of music. We couldn't bear to cut any of this piece out, so we share the whole piece which is a full 4 minutes, but you'll love listening to the story, acting it out, or imagining what is happening in this culminating movement from Ravel's suite for children. To hear a bit more of Sleeping Beauty's story, listen to Episode 5 of our podcast: Love Songs for Little Ones. For information on our Clap for Classics! This week I sit down with Amelia, a cohost of a new podcast called the Ethereal Eye, a healer, reiki master, tarot reader & all around being of light. I met Amelia 3 years ago at a nail salon in Venice, CA during one of the most pivotal times of her life. Small acts of kindness, compassion & connection can make a world of difference. Kick it with us as we walk through her story from a past of addiction & homelessness to healing herself & others. We talk about her new podcast, simplifying spirituality & all the aspects that may fall under that umbrella. Gems dropped throughout this episode relate to: addiction, narratives that no longer serve us, shame, ego, shadow work, compassion, accountability, victim mentality, changed perspectives, toxic positivity, tarot, channeling, focus in relation to manifestation, magnetism, Fairy Garden, creating over competing, the power of our words & more.
“The Philadelphia Interlude” tap in with the Philly fam as we debrief Maur's east coast shenanigans while providing some giggles & a few gems! Nico Oso hops in the drivers seat of this interlude with Jackie K. & Santino. We chat about glacier boys & California fires, what “home” is, things we “love to see,” the experience of Wawa, the best fries in philly, Venmo requests, being “flown out” by potential suitors, a potential homecoming from LA & more. I flew across the country pretty much to just pick up Fairy Garden merch & surprise my mom so we run the highlight reel of the trip & my antics that filled it! Highlights of this interlude include a discussion of my work in LA as a hairstylist working with “celebrities” in particularly the rooms favorite - Dr. Pimple Popper (an inspiration & icon). I spill some tea about the things you don't get to see behind the scenes on set with celebrities. The importance of understanding that everything isn't always as it seems especially in the media & the importance of loving yourself as well as a reminder that self-love is a muscle EVERYONE has to build & nurture forever. Oso teaches us about “Icy girl quick math” while we talk about a trek from Philly to north jersey to see a man in real life for the first time & vibe check to see if he deserves my attention. Mental real estate is valuable so you gotta do “temp checks!” It's fun in here, come hang out.
Do your Elves need a touch of makeup? How about those Mushrooms? Everything can do with some new color! Change the palate for the Fall and Holidays with the tips in this week's episode!
Give your summertime garden some pizzazz! When the heat turns up, you can still make your miniature displays look magical. Get the tips right here this week to perk things up in your garden!
Here it is! A summer project to brighten and add movement to any display. Flags, streamers, banners and ribbons all are fun to make and bring a fresh spark to your miniature gardens! Yes, I will bring back my usual editing and format next week. But I figured you'd like to have a funky episode this week than none at all. Thanks for listening!
