In this episode of "NY Giants News," we delve into the Giants' 100th Anniversary celebrations, starting with the "Giants 100: A Night with Legends" event on June 20th, featuring Eli Manning, Harry Carson, Tiki Barber, George Martin, Jason Sehorn, Bill Parcells, and Tom Coughlin. Fans can vote for the greatest play in team history on the Giants website, with the winner announced during the event. On August 4th, the first 18,000 fans attending the Yankees game against the Blue Jays will receive an Eli Manning bobblehead, courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.Throughout the summer, the Giants will celebrate their top 100 players, with Bob Papa hosting a podcast series dedicated to these legends. Fans can also look forward to a variety of anniversary merchandise, including helmets, hats, shirts, and books. Additionally, a documentary about Wellington Mara, titled "The Duke," will premiere on the NFL Network this fall. The Giants will debut special throwback uniforms twice this season, featuring tan pants with red and blue striped socks (a 1925 throwback), a Century Red jersey with a 1933 font, and a winged style helmet (used from 1937 to 1947). These uniforms, which include a patch with the 100-season logo, have received mixed reviews. Then, Carl Banks expressed his frustration with the relentless criticism of Daniel Jones on the Bleav in Giants podcast. Banks believes that the extreme negativity has made Jones a sympathetic figure and argues that the constant bashing is unwarranted and tiresome, given the numerous challenges Jones has faced, including multiple coaching changes. The New York Giants' offseason workouts began on April 15th, initiating the first phase, which focused on meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehab. This was followed by three weeks of on-field workouts and drills. Now, the team has commenced the 10 organized team activities (OTAs). The primary goals of OTAs are to familiarize everyone with the playbook, maintain player health, allow coaches to evaluate what strategies and plays work, and foster team cohesion. It's important to manage expectations and not get too caught up in the hype.Daniel Jones took the field, leading his team in various drills conducted primarily just outside the endzone. The first touchdown of the day was secured by new running back Devin Singletary, signaling a promising start. Undrafted rookie cornerback Alex Johnson made a notable impact by getting the first interception of OTAs. Wide receiver Malik Nabers stood out with several catches, showcasing his potential as a key target. On Day 2, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns were frequently seen working together, displaying promising chemistry. Devin Singletary collaborated with the offensive line to practice blitz pickups. The team drills remained focused on the red zone, especially within the 10-yard line. Notable plays included two touchdowns early on: Tommy DeVito's scramble to find Malik Nabers and Nathan Rourke's shovel pass to Miles Boykin. The Giants' media highlighted the growing connection between Daniel Jones and Malik Nabers, although it's still early to confirm their developing chemistry. Overall, the Giants' OTAs are off to a productive start, laying a solid foundation for the upcoming season.#giants #nygiants #nSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. On this bonus edition of the 12Kyle Podcast, 12Kyle tells the story of two historical events in football: the Miracle at the Meadowlands and the tradition of the Gatorade bath.  The Miracle at the Meadowlands refers to a game in 1978 where the New York Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles due to a fumble on the last play of the game. This event led to the creation of the "Victory Formation" in football. The Gatorade bath tradition started in 1984 when a player on the Giants, Jim Burt, dumped Gatorade on coach Bill Parcells after a victory. The tradition was carried on by "The Godfather of the Gatorade Bath", Harry Carson...12Kyle's uncle. Dousing the winning coach with Gatorade became a symbol of victory in sports. Hey, guess what. The Runaways are back! And it is Super Bowl Sunday! Let's see what happens when I try to explain this comic book and what we talk about with just references to Super Bowls Greatest moments. First, let's talk about the Apple in the room. That's right, the giant sentinel helping to guard the Avengers compound from riff-raff like that Runaways. Not unlike a sledgehammer wielding woman, breaking down the barriers....or wait...Are the Runaways the ones with the hammer? Not unlike Harry Carson drenching Bill Parcells with a bucket of Gatorade has there been another time when a Giant has poured cold water on a fellow Giant. Yet, Hank stops the Sentinel from killing kids....what is this world coming to. How about the kitten bowl. No not the halftime entertainment to elicit adorations from your children, I am talking about a kitten in a bowl...like Tigra's son. She uses this child to distract the defense. Flag on the play. The hate that Hazmat and Nico have upon their first meeting is not unlike that of the Cowboys and Steelers from Super Bowl X. Sure there is respect, but there is hate....a lot of hate. Super Bowl 56 was the Bengals vs the Rams....and they hyped this by playing Welcome to the Jungle. And during this comic, the kids went to a jungle. What do you want from me. It is the best I could do.  Never has a tackle like the one Old Lace gave Chase been so powerful. Well maybe when Kevin Dyson was Tackled by Mike Jones on a yard away from the goal line to cause the Titans to lose. That one hurt more. And speaking of dinosaurs, do you remember that time when a big red dinosaur crashed the Super Bowl. Neither did I, because it did not happen yet. But it will. I just need to get this magic amulet to open, and then you will all rue the day. Boy that was sure fun, and not at all a last minute scramble as I tried to get this done. GO SPORTS! There have been so many dominant teams in the history of professional football and, in particular, teams with dominant defenses. In recent times, the 2007 New England Patriots who went 16-0 before losing in the Super Bowl. This year (the 2023 season), the Baltimore Ravens defense has been somewhat dominant, and their teams of the early 2000s were as tough as nails. Back in the 80s there were the Chicago Bears of Mike Singletary and Richard Dent, the New York Giants with Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson, in 70s you had the Doomsday Defense of the Dallas Cowboys, the Steel Curtain of the Pittsburgh Steeles and the no-name defense of the 1972 Miami Dolphins who went 17-0 and won the Super Bowl. There have been several. But as far as the most dominant defense in the history of professional football is concerned, you would hard-pressed to find one that was more dominant than the 1903 Franklin All Stars. They didn't just dominate, you basically couldn't move the ball against them at all. In fact, over the course of their 12-game season, only twice did the opposition cross over the 50-yard line. And, it's not like they were playing against the Little Sisters of the Bleeding Hangnail. They were playing against the very best. So, how did this team come together? What was the impetus for forming such an incredible conglomerate of talent? Darin Hayes, the host of the Pigskin Dispatch podcast recently authored the book, "The World's Greatest Professional Gridiron Team, The 1903 Franklin All Stars," and not only does he share with us the assembly of the team, but he makes a very compelling argument for this team being the greatest of all-time.

I really didn't see myself in that form. I was focused on doing my job and trying to win ball games as much as possible." The common trait that differentiated NFL League players from the rest, says Pepper: "Those were the guys that allowed distractions, whether it was on the football field, or it was off the football field, allowing them to not really perform the way that they should've been performing. [There were] some teammates that I've had going even back to high school that I thought really had the talent to go to college and could play in the league because I've seen guys in the league with lesser talent. But when I had a conversation with those guys that made it in the league, a little more dedication was there." Pepper's tips for leaders looking to find their own voice: "When you're trying to coach people, when you're trying to be your best, then you want to be comfortable. You don't want to feel like you have someone else's thoughts in your head. You have to make them your own." Check out John McMahon's book here: https://www.amazon.com/Qualified-Sales-Leader-Proven-Lessons/dp/0578895064

What makes you special? It isn’t what you think. What happened to Joe Theismann is not what Joe Theismann will tell you happened to him. His take on the day that ended his career as an elite NFL quarterback has made a huge difference on how his life turned out. Theismann’s football career ended on November 18, 1985 when he suffered a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in his right leg while being sacked by linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson of the New York Giants during Monday Night Football. But a gruesome injury and the end of his days on the gridiron were not the end of his life. “Snap your fingers,” he says. “That’s how fast your life can change.” But you shouldn’t let it define you. The road from injury opened the door to Theismann becoming an ESPN sportscaster, motivational speaker, restaurateur and actor. “These days people no longer associate me with a broken leg. They recognize me from the Hallmark movie, ‘Love on the Sidelines.’” As an actor, Theismann has appeared in Cannonball Run II and The Man with Bogart’s Face. He went on to play himself in the TV series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Necessary Roughness.” He also starred in the TV movie “The Man from Left Field,” and in the Hallmark Original “Love on the Sidelines.” And as an author, in his latest book, “How to Be a Champion Every Day,” Theismann recounts stories from his impressive career, providing an inspirational guide for how to succeed on a team, in your career, and in your everyday life. #UnstoppablePodcasts

Banks is a multi-faceted visionary and entrepreneur who parlayed his extraordinary talent on the gridiron into a successful business conglomerate. On top of an outstanding career as an NFL champion, you can tack on media commentator and broadcaster, plus sports fashion visionary. Banks was the first athlete to acquire licensing to sell sports clothing apparel for the NFL, NBA and NHL. He was one of the first to combine sports and fashion in clothing and tap into the passion of the fans to represent their teams. Before Reebok, Nike or any other sports fashion brand made sports athletic apparel Carl Banks did it with Starter. Everyone from John Gotti to RUN-DMC was wearing his designs. A gifted athlete and natural born competitor, Banks talks about his beginnings in college sports and how he owes his athletic career to Magic Johnson. Then drafted by the NY Giants and playing alongside Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Brad Van Pelt and Brian Kelly, and the dominance of The Giants during their era. Then taking that competitive mindset into his business career after football and going head to head with brands like Reebok and Nike, making millions.
