Joe Escalante's weekly plunge into the deep side of the business end of showbiz... This week: the latest from the case against Harvey Weinstein: the jury can't come to a decision about this specific rape (the past cases against him still stand)... Also, the Michael Jackson biopic regains the #1 spot in the box office. Was the entire thing a cash grab from the least talented members of his family, who had public beef with Michael? Why was Janet not in it? Producer Sam has some questions... Joe saw a bunch of Amish people at the Columbus Zoo, and marvels at the leash that they all keep their kids on... Speaking of kids on leashes, there are new rules at Disneyland regarding adult pin traders, and how much space they take up trying to distribute their wares among the patrons... This week: the latest from the Blake Lively/ Justin Baldoni case (settled two weeks before trial), and the impact of the recent Live Nation anti-trust case, including a wrongful termination case. Also, Joe goes into his latest struggles with getting accurate answers from the AI that he actually pays for... seriously, it's just making stuff up at this point... Mortal Kombat, Devil Wears Prada, and Michael are still on top on the box office (we verified it, chatGPT... stop trying to get Joe fired!)... And... there's a legal battle over the home that Marilyn Monroe died in... It's a landmark, but the current owners don't want it to be. They want it to be a McMansion. This week: Joe talks about the lawsuit against Howard Stern, and how, when you work with certain people, you kinda need to know what you're getting into, and what to expect... Also, there was a leaked memo of some new restrictions at Disneyland... Fortunately, none of them are stopping Bats Day from happening TODAY at Disney. Look out for stronger enforcement of selfie stick bans, and NO MORE CUTTING IN LINE. WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! In the box office, The Devil Wears Prada 2 made a HUGE splash, as the early Summer film season kicks off. Joe saw Normal with Bob Odenkirk, and LOVED it. Not as much as Project Hail Mary, but a very good film! And, from the legal side of the Joe... Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams tried to trademark the name "The Iceman." (Leboef? Leboof?? whatever), as well as the latest from the Timothy Busfield sexual misconduct case. Did he get scammed? Chris Hansen, of To Catch a Predator fame, doesn't think so... The Ataris were formed in 1996 in Anderson, Indiana. The Ataris originally began as the home demo-recording project of lead singer guitarist Kristopher Roe and guitarist Jasin Thomason. The group were discovered a year later by Vandals founder Joe Escalante after songwriter Kristopher Roe met him at a concert. Impressed by his demo tape, Escalante asked Roe to put together a full band and record for his label, Kung-Fu Records. Roe then picked up and moved to California in search of bandmates. (Thomason decided to stay in Indiana), and eventually added guitarist Marco Peña, bassist Mike Davenport, and former Lagwagon drummer Derrick Plourde. Plourde was later replaced by new drummer Chris Knapp.  We catch up with founder Kristopher Roe in this fun episode! website www.TheAtarisBand.com social media www.Instagram.com/theataris www.Facebook.com/TheAtaris  About Music Matters with Darrell Craig Harris The Music Matters Podcast is hosted by Darrell Craig Harris, a globally published music journalist, professional musician, and Getty Images photographer. Assorted Jelly Beans was a high-energy ska-punk band from Riverside, California, known for their fast-paced, raw sound blending ska, punk, and hardcore influences. Formed in the mid-'90s, they gained recognition through their association with Kung Fu Records, co-founded by Joe Escalante of The Vandals, and their self-titled 1996 debut album became a cult favorite among ska-punk fans. Their music, characterized by infectious horn-free ska rhythms, political lyrics, and breakneck tempos, helped solidify their place in the underground punk scene.
