The Trump family's attack on the freedom of speech rights of private citizens continues, as today, we learned that Trump's FCC plans to challenge ABC station licenses amid Melania's feud with Jimmy Kimmel. For the administration that was apparently going to “make comedy legal again,” it seems that only applies to people they dislike. This is not the first time Donald Trump or members of his family have resorted to authoritarian tactics to silence comedians who make jokes at their expense, or reporters who publish stories that particularly upset the regime Kimmel took to the air to respond to the GOP's wild accusations against him, saying “It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he's almost 80 and she's younger than I am,” Kimmel said. “It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination, and they know that I've been very vocal for many years speaking out against gun violence in particular.” On this episode of Big F*ing Deal, Jo and Tara also dive into the attempts by Donald Trump and his Republican Senator lackeys in Congress to pay for the White House ballroom with taxpayer funds. But it is also drenched in unreality, because the first public “reveal” was an AI-generated fantasy reel: an uncanny value of dictator chic, drenched in gold, gold everywhere, and on everything. Trump's name stamped on the skyline, a presidential jet in the lobby, White House replicas inside, and a giant gold statue of Trump raised above the mass of the faithful like some imperial mascot of post-modern, ironic American kitsch. It's been a while, but we're back with another episode. And this one is a doozy, in all the wrong/right ways. We start with a discussion of how Musk's DOGE initiative was a complete failure. Most of the claimed cuts were inaccurate and didn't happen, and government spending has actually increased during the Trump administration. DOGE failed. This eventually leads to Ryan revealing why he hasn't wanted to discuss politics lately (and we haven't had many recent episodes): while he always knew Trump was a piece of shit, Ryan has finally realized that most of humanity wants that, suggesting they are equally as selfish and inconsiderate of the planet and others. Good times! We then take a quick break to mock the recently announced Trump Class ships that everyone knows are just an attempt to stroke Dear Leader's cock and boost his ego, because the ships are not needed, impossible to build, and already obsolete, but it will also, no doubt, enrich someone who has bribed Trump. Our third topic is a discussion of the recent situation in Minnesota of fraudsters bilking the government to the tune of billions of dollars. Tom's point with this story is that this level of fraud is really only possible with the government, and it's not entirely clear how to prevent it. We end with predictions of what is going to happen to the US. The answer is: DOOM! Revolution! Cataclysmic collapse! Great Depression! Weimar Republic level catastrophe!

An official memo from the Trump administration is directing all would-be federal employees to draft an essay about how much they love Donald Trump as part of the hiring process. The federal government is currently on a hiring freeze that will expire on July 15th, and in order to make sure they only get Trump-loving applicants, they are requiring the essay as part of the process.
