Embark on a voyage through time and space as Phil & Eric confess their tardiness to Christopher Nolan's cosmic ballet, "Interstellar." Imagine the regret that comes from only now discovering the immense narrative depth and the visual splendor of a film that's been orbiting the public consciousness for nearly a decade. In our candid exchange, we dissect the film's gripping storyline, the powerful score, and Matthew McConaughey's performance that should've been written in the stars. It's a conversation sprinkled with awe and a touch of self-reproach for letting this gem slip by.As we navigate the wormholes of "Interstellar," we contemplate its portrayal of a dying Earth, humanity's space-bound hope, and the seamless blend of scientific theory with riveting storytelling. The film's magnetic pull prompts a yearning to sift through its layers with each viewing, even as we grapple with the mind-bending aspects of its third act. Praises are sung for Michael Caine and Matt Damon's performances, while we muse on the ambitious narrative choices that may leave some viewers starry-eyed and others searching for a tether. Our cosmic chat isn't confined to the silver screen; we explore Nolan's position in the celestial body of cinema, pondering the enigma of "Interstellar's" awards season trajectory and the critics' dance with his oeuvre. This episode isn't just about looking back—it's an invitation to look up at the night sky, to the stars where "Interstellar" resides, and to join us in a stellar conversation that transcends time.IMDb Synopsis:  When Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans.

Joseph Cooper is the Head of Data Science at Club View. He joins Wendy this week on Would You Data Scientist to share his advice for getting into data, tell you about the work he does at Club View and how he’s trying to beat sports clubs' own models, and find out his thoughts on diversity and the future of data science. KEY TAKEAWAYS Being made redundant or losing your job is not the end of the world, it can be the start of something bigger and better. Joe’s advice is to get hands-on experience with algorithms. Early on in his career, he tried to build some of the classic algorithms by hand, not using packages, just trying by hand with python. Joe didn’t do statistics or maths at university so getting that hands-on experience really taught him and gave him that basic understanding. Joe has found that diversity on the other end of the job application has been lacking. The people posting the jobs and conducting the interviews were mostly white. If you have a diverse team, then bias in your data will be picked up much quicker. Joseph Cooper calls it "the justice gap" and what he is pinpointing is the avalanche of unfiled lawsuits and the unpursued legal matters that the middle class often just lets go untended. The rich pay lawyers. The poor, in many cases, can access free legal assistance.  The middle class is out in the cold.Enter Cooper's Justice for Me, where he is creating a system that helps attorneys find clients, helps those clients borrow money to pay for their legal assistance, and just may also help credit unions add a powerful new loan product to their portfolio.Wake up, smell the vanishing auto loan.  Legal loans just may be a great new product and it also is a product that aligns well with the core credit union mission of helping the middle class.Justice for Me avoids most criminal law, will not do contingency fee cases (personal injury), but there are many, many other matters such as wills, adoptions, divorces, contract law, bill disputes and much more.Lawyers need the work - we are over lawyered these days - but they also want to be paid.  Enter Justice for Me.It's a novel idea. Like what you are hearing?
