In der letzten regulären Episode hatte ich zwei Keyboard-Layouts besprochen und so mache ich das dieses mal auch wieder. Ich brauche Veränderung auf dem Keyboard und deswegen schau ich mir weiter Layouts an. Diesmal geht es um die beiden Layouts namens Colemak und Workman. Colemak ist meiner Wahrnehmung nach das bekanntere der beiden aber auch Workman hat seine Vorteile. Dazu gibts ein paar Boards und Keeb.Supply hatte Geburtstag und denkt an das Keyboard-Meetup auf den Datenspuren. Habt Spaß damit!

Bei mir war es ruhig und ja ihr hört es - ich bin wieder oder immernoch krank. Aber hier gehts nicht um mich sondern um Keyboards und das machen die Drei die ich heute zu Gast haben durfte auch - nämlich Keyboards designen und verscherbeln. This weekend we got a whole bunch of keyboard enclosure samples, a 60% keyboard PCB we're checking out for inspiration, and a silicone mold for making keycaps. We tried making some and learned a bit. They GH60 was also interesting, let's check out some design decisions! The Great Search - 1N4148 Signal Diodes in DO-35 and SOD-123 https://www.digikey.com/short/r3p7q2vm Looking at a lot of keyboard kits, we noticed that many use a diode key-matrix to connect lots of keys without a ghosting effect. We should probably source long tape strips of 1N4148s for folks making keyboards and key matrices! There's a new keeb boar in town, its the 3x4 macropad we've been working on for a bit. I finally got around to soldering it together, lets take a look at the features and press some buttons! We're also testing a fancy new PR that just got merged for CircuitPython - we can now selectively enable/disable USB descriptors: for example UART REPL or disk drive mode! It can be a little scary, so lets do it together. A lot of folks like using Adafruit parts for their Keeb builds - but with the itsybitsy not being pin-compatible with the pro micro pinout, it really wasnt very easy without some sort of adapter plate. now we're seeing lots of people use circuitpython for keebs, which is awesome! why not try our hands at spinning up a pro-micro-compatible RP2040 board? the RP2040 is plenty powerful, low cost and makes for an excellent keeb driver chip. we tried to mix together the things we liked most about the sparkfun pro micro rp2040 (Qwiic/QT I2C port on the end, so good!) the Elite-C (castellated pads & pins for D+ and D-!) and our existing 2040 boards (boot button can be used for user, 8MB QSPI flash, onboard NeoPixel, jumper for skipping the diode/fuse for high power RGB LEDs or USB hosting). we even got it to all fit on a 2 layer PCB with 7/7 routing - just needed to make the smallest caps and resistors 0402. ground plane didnt suffer too much either - take a look!
