HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAYRather than posting a new episode that no one takes seriously, this week we're replaying one of our most popular episodes: GO TO THE INVESTING GYM BUT MAYBE DON'T GET AN INVESTING TATTOO. Enjoy!----------------------------------------------Decade Investor aka Kolin drops dozens of gems in this week's interview. As a 24-year-old with a $250,000 stock portfolio, he knows all about slow and steady investing. No matter your age. whether you're in your 20s or 50s, you'll walk away motivated to start investing, even if it's $5 per week. Get comfortable having money that isn't yours to spend right now. Make your future self your best friend. You can build your investing skills like you build muscles at the gym, but you do need to START! Lauren lays out what the 4% retirement rule is. Kolin addresses young parents. He also takes a stance on what percentage of your income you should be saving (which might surprise you). He also addresses rumors on whether he got a VOO tattoo, representing $100,000 in Vanguard's S&P 500 index fund.About Kolin:Kolin goes by Decade Investor on social media.

In this episode, Kolin and Kyle discuss nine misconceptions about Roth conversions. They debunk the idea that Roth IRAs are always better than IRAs, explaining that the choice depends on individual circumstances. They also emphasize the importance of comprehensive tax planning and caution against winging it or converting large amounts without a strategy. They also discuss the misconception that paying the tax bill from savings is the only option and explain the potential penalties for underpayment. The hosts highlight the need for flexibility and multiple strategies when it comes to Roth conversions, cautioning against chasing a completely tax-free retirement. Especially when you are just starting out. Kolin shares the math behind his reasoning and why you need to focus on just consistently buying into your portfolio at first. The main growth from your portfolio size year over year will come from you just consistently adding more money. As your portfolio starts to grow and grow and grow, this is when compounding will slowly start to take over more and more of your account growth each year. But at first, focus on just consistently adding to your portfolio. Be sure to follow Decade Investor on all socials & join the FREE weekly newsletter!TwitterInstagramWeekly Newsletter

In this episode of The Decade Investor Podcast, Kolin talks through a conversation he had with his brother about at what point does investing make sense? People may plug $200 a month into an investing calculator & think "well that isn't worth it"? At what point does investing make sense? The problem with this idea is someone may continually push off investing until they have more money to invest, but when the time comes to invest more money, they may not have the trust in the market. This type of thinking could cause someone who has A LOT of money to invest, not win in the stock market because they have not learned to trust the market with a little bit of money. Our Sponsor for today's episode: Divvy.
