As most Illinois farmers wind down planting, these two start harvesting. The 'Stahlhut girls" of Madison County, Kim Hansen and Kris Straub, grow lavender and open their former pig and dairy farm to the general public. Hear from the two who explain all about growing lavender, why they grow it and what they do with it all.

When Kris Straub uploaded a creepy animated short to YouTube in 2018, he indicated that it was for audiences 18 and older. So why did YouTube's AI overrule Straub to say the video is suitable for kids? We look at COPPA and how it has affected YouTube. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A creepy kids show aired decades ago, but only a few people remember it… and the details are hazy. Everyone's left wondering if it was ever real. And then the Candle Cove creepypasta comes to life. Loey and Eleanor are *very excited* to welcome Kris Straub, the very creator of the Candle Cove creepypasta and Local 58 web series, to discuss horror and the art of making heart-pounding media! It changes depending on where in its elliptical rotation it is, but the average distance the moon is from Earth is 382,500 kilometers, or 238,855 miles. With gratitude to Kris Straub of Local 58.
This week's episode covers a unique and interesting creepy pasta that influenced the first season of a Syfy tv show! Allison takes a little bit of time today to talk about Candle Cove, a fictional forum discussing a “forgotten” children's tv show written by American webcartoonist Kris Straub on his website Ichor Falls all the way back in 2009. Not only is the fiction story dark - the way the internet has taken and formed it is absolutely wild. *Wasn't clarified in the episode* Kris Straub's Youtube Channel is Local 58: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPdgWYB9fdw. Join our host Andrea (Black Magic Coven) as she reads the original thread that started it all. Based on a story by Kris Straub, it later took on a mind of its own and has become what we know today as "Candle Cove." Have you ever wondered if the things you watch were manipulating your thoughts and behaviors? Skwis and Bri dive into the topic of subliminal messages used in television and ARG's during their research of Local 58 a "fake" news station created by Kris Straub in Mason County, West Virginia. Covering everything from mass suicide, hypnosis, and cult ideals, Local 58 takes manipulative television and ARG's to a whole new frightening level. Listen to Skwis and Bri as they navigate through the station and discuss it's possible purpose and risks it poses if used for malicious reasons. Be careful about what you watch, you might get frightened! WARNING! EXPLICIT CONTENT! Not only do we cover some unsavory and possibly triggering topics, but there is cursing and lewd language in the episode. Abby Howard grew up in North Carolina and has been drawing comics since age 13, spending her summers locked away in her room working on one project or another, convinced this would be the one to get her to the Big Time. She went to McGill University to study Evolutionary Biology, but after being a contestant on the web reality show Strip Search, she was able to follow her dreams of becoming a cartoonist, and ditched all that book learnin'. She now works full time between The Last Halloween, Junior Scientist Power Hour, and various side projects-- including her two podcasts, The Sistertime Podcast (a show about forgotten children's shows and movies, co-hosted by her sister Maddie) and Scared Yet (a discussion of the horror genre co-hosted by fellow webcartoonist, Kris Straub). She likes cats and doesn't get out much. She has seen every horror movie. Check our her work! Welcome back to Pilot Inspectors. On today's episode, we are making our first foray into horror. Intro music is "Candle Cove" by Topian.
Security researchers Abdul Serwadda and Richard Matovu recently tested a pair of EEG authentication systems to see if it was possible to identify personal information from anonymous brainwave scans. The pair created a machine learning system that compared the new brainwaves scans to EEG scans from a group of known alcoholics -- and the machine successfully identified 25-percent of persons who identified themselves as alcoholics in the new sample. Anthony and guest host Kris Straub wonder if this means anything at all, or is a lot of click-baity scare tactics. GET BONUS EPISODES, VIDEO HANGOUTS AND MORE. The first month of middle school in Ichor Falls, 1986, began calmly, with a trip to the Rand Historical Society Museum. For the local kids, it was just one more inundation of the town’s boring history. For four students, newly moved into the town, it was the beginning of something they will be forever unable to explain. The students found and read a book of local stories, some of which seemed to possess supernatural powers. The story of The Stitched Man brought forth a nightmare into the bedroom of Thomasine Goode. Some dark, malevolent thing has turned its eyes upon the newcomers, and it wants them for its own. Can the four friends survive the darkness that Ichor Falls brings to bear? Ichor Falls is written by Kris Straub, and is absolutely worth checking out. The once-abandoned West Virginia mining town of Ichor Falls lies always shrouded in mist. It crouches like a slick mushroom in a river valley, brooding. Abandoned by the world for several decades, new inroads are being created. The Elysium Group, the land’s new owners, are attempting to revitalize the near idyllic Falls, welding modern design to repaired turn-of-the-century ruins that slouch in decay. It is 1986, and four middle-schoolers have moved with their families to take up residence in the new Ichor Falls suburb, Elysia. Their parents have told them that it’s a wonderful new opportunity for them and the family. That things can be different here, no matter what came before. But Ichor Falls watches the passing of time as a face in a tree. History dwells here, thick and choking and rotten. Stories whispered in the grey light of day become real and inexorable in the night. From the depths of its mist, poised inside the edge of dusk, Ichor Falls waits for a day that comes all too soon. Ichor Falls is written by Kris Straub, and is absolutely worth checking out. YO INTERNET, WASSUP?! Look, it’s only been a month since last we posted! WE CAN DO THIS MONTHLY POSTING THING! Also thanks to Sean for our shiny intro! First off, we recently finished Monster ISS, we’re going to post a short Little Fears interlude by Charlie, followed by Prominence, SC, a street-level Batman-inspired Wild Talents campaign. Secondly, your voice was heard last month, leading to The Devil’s Bazaar being posted. There is a new poll up with NEW OPTIONS! SIGN UP AND VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE! SkyMaul – Run by Matt. This is a 99 cent module written by Shane Ivey. It involves antics on a plane. The Longest Night of Your Life – Run by Sam. This is part three of the campfire tales. Children try to go to sleep and find they are unable to. Horror ensues. Crossover Megamix! – Run by Sam. This is a Complete Bull$#!@ game that was originally going to be run in Rifts. Every character from every game we have played thus far shows up at some point in this (I think). It is. . . impressive. Transatlantic – Run by NO ONE. A Fiasco! game we played with Joshua Chichester at the end of the last Drunk and Ugly Con. Ichor Falls: Prelude – Run by Sam. A Little Fears adventure set in 1986, based on Kris Straub’s Ichor Falls. Our topic for today: Long-form game design. How do you write campaigns or mini-campaigns? Hell, I don’t know, but this is a clear approximation of everything. The cart was draped with a white bed sheet, keeping the cart's burden hidden. The guests all turned to watch as the little mystery wheeled into the room, squeaking slightly, leaving a visible groove in the carpet. Norma stopped and stood; she made no move to uncover her secret, only smiled at the seven faces around her. Every guest had a fresh drink in hand and a hot hors d'oeuvre on a toothpick.
