The witches hope that everyone is beginning to thaw out, and are wishing everyone an Imbolc to remember! A new beginning is around the corner, even though it doesn't feel like it for some of us - brrr, remove us from this deep freeze! But with the celebration of the full moon, what better cards to contemplate than those that deal with the very nature of change? Scarlet and Blackbird pose thought-provoking questions to each other and to you, dear listeners. What could be the midpoint in between these two cards? As has been customary in this series, the witches are loving the sharing of ideas and collaboration, and are excited to share these with you. Enjoy and thank you for listening!
The witches are so excited and are on a roll (is two a roll?) with this new series! On this episode, Scarlet and Blackbird ponder the shared aspects of two more major arcana cards - The Hanged Man and Death. Could these shared qualities lead to the meaning of the between card, or will it be more of a vibe, a moment in time, a transition? Join the ladies to find out where this conversation takes them. Also, not to brag, but Scarlet gives you some red hot tips for (insert latest slang for "really great") mac & chee. Snuggle up, grab that comfort snack/blanket/friend and listen!

Welcome to my Memorizing Tarot Card Audio Podcast, where I discuss strategies to learn and memorize Tarot cards. Today's episode is your three-minute lesson on the Reversal of the Death card. Why an audio course=================The purpose of this audio podcast is to help reinforce key messages by audio, while you clean, exercise, mow your lawn, or drive great distances. There is no charge for this content, and it is intended to provide short, snappy microlearning to help beginners keep practicing and reinforcing the learning. The best way to learn Tarot cards, is to keep practicing working with the cards. Rider Waite Tarot Card Deck=======================I learned how to read cards on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck and the instructor I had said its easiest to have everyone on the same deck when explaining the symbolism. With time, I was able to transfer that knowledge to other decks. If you are a beginner at learning Taro, below are some links to the Rider Waite Tarot Deck to follow along if you need a set of cards. I earn a small referral commission from these links from Amazon. Rider Waite Tarot Deck - USA Link: https://amzn.to/3TW5y0iRider Waite Tarot Deck - Canada Link: https://amzn.to/3YcTwlRRider Waite Tarot Deck - UK Link: https://amzn.to/4eyRUIMRider Waite Tarot Deck - Australia link: https://amzn.to/3ZRB1EwAbout Carrie and @QuickLearnQuests ===============================I have been reading Tarot cards for 30 years for fun. I took a two and a half day course, and I was so excited to be able to take the mystery out of getting readings done for myself, and to be able to do them myself. We also have social media channels, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and all major podcast distributors such as Spotify, Apple, Audible and many others under the handle @quickLearnQuests. I am focusing mostly on my podcasts and YouTube at the moment, but I will expand into more social media more consistently when I find my feet. Here is my YouTube Channel video for interpreting cards in Three Card Spreads: https://youtu.be/P8En-8-8njk?si=7LIlOsFv9pNZ9iK7 Here is the transcript: Welcome to the "Memorizing Tarot Cards" podcast, your three-minute lessons on learning and memorizing each card using symbolism. I use the Rider Waite Tarot, but you can view the card while you listen using your own Tarot card deck or a computer. Today, we're exploring the Death card, focusing on reversals. Let's start with the divine meaning of the card and then its meaning when reversed. The Death card upright is often misunderstood, but it is profoundly transformative. It represents endings, beginnings, and the cycles of renewal that are necessary for growth. However, this transformative energy is stalled or resisted when the Death card appears reversed. It can suggest fear of change, clinging to the past, or avoiding necessary endings that pave the way for new opportunities. The reversed Death card often points to a reluctance to relinquish old patterns, relationships, or situations that no longer serve you. It's a reminder that while change can be uncomfortable, it's also essential for growth and renewal. So, what happens when The Death appears in a reading? When Death reversed appears in a reading, it's a signal to examine what you might resist in your life. Are there situations, relationships, or habits that you're holding onto even though they no longer serve your highest good? This card asks you to reflect on what's keeping you from embracing necessary change and to consider how releasing the old could create room for the new. It may also indicate that you're feeling afraid of or overwhelmed by transformation. The reversed Death card reminds you that change is a natural part of life and that facing it with courage and trust can lead to renewal and growth. So, what is the best way to memorize the Death card in reverse? Tying the card to a personal experience helps me remember it. For example, my reversed Death card moment is my struggle with changing my diet. My sweet tooth has always been a struggle for me. Still, for the last 10 months, I have made a reasonably consistent effort to make good choices around carby and sugary foods. I am not remotely happy about this, and have a mindset issue with feeling deprived. I am adopting recipes to try and create yummy treats that are sugar-free, but trust me, I still remember what a slice of chocolate cake with chocolate icing tastes like. So, I am a work in progress, and I associate this journey with the Death Card reversed. I am transforming with my actions, but my brain is still struggling. That's all for today's Death Card Reversed episode. Remember, to memorize tarot, keep practicing tarot. In “ROLL CALL: NEW TAROT NAMES FOR BLACK GIRLS,” Amber McBride treats us to a playful litany of language that twists and leaps and never stumbles. Flavored with old-time Christianity, old-time hoodoo, and a modern alchemy all her own, it talks back to prejudice, reclaims the words meant to take people down, and forges new identities that shimmer with strength and strangeness. Amber McBride is an English professor at the University of Virginia. She is the author of several books, including the forthcoming poetry collection, Thick with Trouble (Penguin Books/Penguin Random House, 2024). Her debut young adult novel, Me (Moth) (Square Fish/Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, 2023) was a finalist for the National Book Award, and it also won the 2022 Coretta Scott King - John Steptoe Award for New Talent. McBride low-key practices hoodoo and high-key devours books (100 or so a year keep her well fed). She is a bit of a book dragon; she collects more than she reads. In her spare time, she enjoys pretending it is Halloween every day, organizing her crystals, watching K-dramas, and accidentally scrolling through TikTok for 3 hours at a time. She believes in ghosts, and she believes in you.Find the transcript for this show at onbeing.org.We're pleased to offer Amber McBride's poem, and invite you to read Pádraig's weekly Poetry Unbound Substack, read the Poetry Unbound book, or listen back to all our episodes.

What better way to ring in the New Year than with a freeranging discussion of the dreaded thirteenth arcanum of the tarot? Of all topics, surely death needs the least introduction. Or does it? To those of us who inhabit the castellated compounds of post-industrial privilege, it is perhaps too easy to forget the uninvited guest who skulks in the shadows, touching each of us in turn as he sidles past. "Nothing is certain except death and taxes," Benjamin Franklin once wrote. He was joking, of course. The truth is that death is the only certainty. Hello Mystical Soul! I have had a busy week and let me tell you, that Full Moon Lunar eclipse was impactful in a small yet powerful way in my life. I will continue to be here on the podcast but it may be more random in this next month as I am taking time to reflect o this past year and allowing those reflections guide my vision for th upcoming calendar year. On this episode I speak about the Death card and regrets. Know that all that I share here is from my lens as a Intuitive Reader - I am not a mental health therapist so please know that any of the episodes here are meant to be like two friends coming together over some cafecito... I send you so much love and am deeply honored that you allow me to come into your space. Be well :) Love, Nicole P --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mysticbellacafe/message
In today's episode I deliver a collective tarot reading for November 2022. Yep, the most Scorpio Szn card jumps right out...The Death Card. We know her, love her, and sometimes fear her. We talk about how: - Death invites us to change on a cellular level - Not all "deaths" are huge life changes - There is always a rebirth on the other side - Deaths happen in our life every day even beyond conscious awareness We also discuss what we can learn this month from the 2 of coins, 8 of swords, and 5 of wands. Welcome back to "Class Reunion: The Podcast!" This week's guest is Liz Lawson, a longtime Aurora resident who now runs a daycare in our hometown. She faced more obstacles than she let on when she was a kid, losing her mom when she was 7 and then losing her home to a tornado as a young adult. But her love of kids and of being a community helper were well established by the time we graduated. In our conversation, Liz shares what it was like losing a parent as a young person and how she navigated her career while also raising a family from a young age. Each week, I make a donation to a nonprofit of choice selected by the classmate featured in the show, and this week, Liz picked For the Kids, an organization in Aurora that provides clothing and other essentials to foster children in Barry, Lawrence and Stone counties. (The group is hosting a camping and floating trip for foster families on the same weekend as our reunion, so I'm particularly send a donation their way.) If you want to show your support for this program, go to patreon.com/classreunionpodcast to sign up. Thanks to this week's featured Patrons: Kandice, Travis, Chris and Abby. Thanks to this week's sponsor, Don't Fear the Death Card, my ancestral healing and tarot business. If all this talk about nostalgia and family histories piques your interest, come follow me @dontfearthedeathcard on Instagram to learn more. Lastly, if you are a member of the Class of 2001, head over to Facebook to join our class group, where we are sharing information about the upcoming reunion, taking place September 24 and 25 in Aurora. Reach out if you have questions and we'd love to see you there.
Jeff Harter answers questions all day. He's an optometrist in Kansas City, so all day, he's answering people's questions about their eye health. It's an unexpected part of his job, but one he loves, thanks in part to his upbringing in Southwest Missouri. In this week's episode of "Class Reunion," Jeff and I chat about marching band, planting roots and traveling around the world. This episode's sponsor is Don't Fear the Death Card, my tarot reading and teaching service. You can find out more about the readings, classes and coaching services at dontfearthedeathcard.com or @dontfearthedeathcard on Instagram. Do you want to sponsor an upcoming episode of “Class Reunion”? Individual and business sponsorships are available at info@classreunionpodcast.com. Each week, I make a donation to a nonprofit of choice selected by a classmate of Kansas City Free Eye Clinic, which provides free and low cost preventive eye exams and glasses to people in the Kansas City area. You can find out more about them at kcfreeeyeclinic.org. If you're enjoying the podcast, leave a review on Apple or sign up to become a supporter on Patreon. Patrons get behind the scenes photos and updates each week, and they can leave voicemail shout outs for fellow classmates. ☠ TIME TOTAL ON VIDEO: 1 + 5 = 6; 2 + 9 = 11 (6X11 = 66), BUT ALSO 6 + 11 = 17, AND 1 + 7 = 8 (DEATH CARD, 8TH HOUSE, SCORPIO, THE 8TH ZODIAC SIGN).
Finding our way into the Death Card at the end of the year, only seems fitting. Being with the cycles of Death has transformed us all through the wake of a global pandemic- and what are we in the acts of this dance with life-death-rebirth. Instead of hiding from death, what happens when we actually move towards it, instead of hiding from it- tucking it away, never to speak of it again. In our conversation with Aunia Kahm, we talk about the ways in which the death card comes up in a reading, that it is not to be feared yet embraced. This is the last episode of 2020- and we send it off to compost for the year- as we move into 2021 and whats to come from that. In our work and in our living, we must recognize that difference is a reason for celebration and growth, rather than a reason for destruction.Audre LordeMy time with Jewelle dates back to my childhood. She is my first cousins oldest sisters wife. Family. We haven't seen each other much over the years, but her memory of cheetah filled black femme elegance radiates out from her every pore. Jewelle's work surpasses the landscape of activist, witch, renegade, original. She had no trouble choosing the death card. It came naturally to them, it was what was inherently something they had leaned into. Being raised by her Great-Grandmother, growing up with her ancestral wisdom ran through her veins. Jewelle has lived 71 rotations around the sun, and is the first elder I have had the sincere privilege of recording for this episodeA historical fiction writer and feminist futurist, Jewelle has written 8 books, and The Gilda Stories has been in print for almost 30 years. Their work in the LGBTQ community is vast, from being present for the Stonewall Riots to marriage equality. She grew up around social movements such as the civil rights movement, black power movement, anti war movement. The roots of social activism were a daily part of life's experience. She enjoys reflecting on periods of herstory, and bringing light from other generations.
