BT & Sal aggressively react to Ian O'Connor's report that Joe Schoen is "not certain" to return as Giants GM next year, suggesting the GM's job is far from safe despite the organization's public stance. The hosts blast the Mara family's decision to have a potentially lame-duck GM lead the head coach search, calling it a prime example of the Giants "compounding problems" and "lacking awareness." They tear into Schoen's four-year record (a dismal 20-40-1), demanding to know when his "brilliant" drafting and salary cap "cleanup" will translate into actual wins. The debate concludes with a fiery discussion on the proper evaluation timeline for a GM, with BT & Sal arguing that by Year Five, the Giants must be a definitive playoff team, a goal they see as impossibly distant with the current regime.
It's that time of year again. We're looking back at all the movies that we've talked about over the last year and giving some credit where credit is due.
The guys discuss their expectations for Rashod Bateman in year five.

Two friends uncover the truth behind the mysterious industrial accident that shuttered an organ preservation factory and cast its owner into ruin. Genre: Mystery, Science Fiction Excerpt: Jordan then glanced around the room, the basement room that was part of the secret underground laboratory beneath the abandoned factory that was once owned by Sabrina's mother, Alectrona Fabron, the famed pioneer of organ preservation technology. It seemed Alectrona had figured out how to preserve more than just organs. What story or stories am I revisiting in this episode? Each Season 8 episode is a standalone story, but it's connected to or inspired by a previous story through a character, a place, an object, a concept, a continuation of events (ahem, sequel), and so on. This week's story is connected to the Year Five story entitled “The Strange Chamber,” in which two friends visit a long-abandoned organ factory that's become a local urban legend. But there's also a side character who first appears in the Season One episode called “Ignotus” and then in a later episode called “Nocturnal.” (There's also a passing mention of a fictional television show from an episode called “The Last Honest Vampire.”) MERCH!Interested in merch, like mugs and notebooks, featuring my artwork? A town targeted by a warlord is defended by an unexpected army of...well, I'm sure you can guess. Genre: Fairy Tale Excerpt: The hilltop town of Adarak had a tradition of baking gingerbread men and setting them along the windowsills on the longest night of winter, facing outward, to keep the town safe from enemies— whether mortal or mystical. Many believed that this tradition arose in homage of the ginger-colored cloaks that the town guards wore, all the better to hide their movements through the forests and mountain surrounding the town. But every grandmother in town made sure to tell her grandchildren the true story of the tradition… What story or stories am I revisiting in this episode? We begin Year Five of The Bridge with Janice Stein's latest analysis of the two major international crises facing our world. In the middle east, the story remains Israel and Hamas and the Israeli prime minister's position on a ceasefire. Benjamin Netanyahu is facing hundreds of thousands of protestors in his own country and an enemy using murderous tactics on the other side. In Russia, Vladimir Putin talks peace, but is he serious?
Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson express their frustrations about players they've seen play on the Pirates over the last week that's produced a seven-game losing streak.
With several major announcements dropping this week in the comic industry, it's a chance to present a Comic Talk: News Edition episode! The Speakers of Geek give their thoughts and reactions to topics including Random House acquiring Boom! This week marks the FOUR YEAR anniversary of the Dear White Women podcast! From those first few episodes released altogether on April 15, 2019, to now… it's been quite the ride. This year, in order to kick off year five (!!!) of the podcast, we thought we'd devote an entire shorter episode to talking about not only the past four years but what we have in store for the future (you didn't think we'd end with four, did ya?). What to listen for: How the podcast has evolved since its start in April 2019 The stand-out episode from this past year – hint, both of us chose Overground Railroad with Candacy Taylor Our personal whys behind doing this for the past four years Where we think the Dear White Women platform goes from here About Sara & Misasha: A graduate of Harvard College and Columbia Law School, Misasha Suzuki Graham has been a practicing litigator for over 15 years and is passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession as well as in her communities. She is a facilitator, writer, and speaker regarding issues of racial justice, especially with regard to children, the co-author of Dear White Women: Let's Get (Un)comfortable Talking About Racism, and the co-host of Dear White Women, a social justice podcast. Misasha, who is biracial (Japanese and White), is married to a Black man, and is the proud mom of two very active multiracial young boys. They live in the Bay Area of California with their largely indifferent cat. Sara Blanchard helps build community and connection through conscious conversations, which she does as a facilitator, TEDx speaker, writer, and consultant. After graduating from Harvard and working at Goldman Sachs, Sara pursued the science and techniques of well-being and is a certified life coach, author of two books (Flex Mom and Dear White Women: Let's Get (Un)comfortable Talking About Racism), and co-host of Dear White Women, an award-winning weekly social justice podcast. Sara is biracial (Japanese and White), married to a White Canadian man, and is raising their two White-presenting girls to be compassionate, thoughtful advocates. They live in Denver, Colorado with their incredibly lovable dog.

Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
Are the San Francisco Giants really going to be a top home-run-hitting team in 2023? Farhan Zaidi recently said as much, but does his prediction figure to come true? The SF Giants set a franchise record for home runs in 2021, and despite some narrative to the contrary, they weren't a bad power-hitting team in 2022. Their additions of Michael Conforto and Mitch Haniger figure to add many more home runs to the mix, so it's not at all hard to envision the 2023 Giants being a top power-hitting team.Going into Year Five of the Farhan Zaidi era, is it playoffs or bust? Will Zaidi be around for a sixth season if the Giants have another disappointing season in 2023? He probably won't be fired, especially if other things go right, but certainly the rope starts to get a lot shorter. If the Giants have a poor 2023 season and follow it up with one to three more disappointing seasons afterwards, Zaidi might not stick around. But the Giants value continuity, and Zaidi showed in 2021 what he's capable of. Developing young talent will be the most important thing moving forward. What will it take to get Shohei Ohtani next offseason? Reports are that Ohtnai still prefers the West coast, which puts the Giants in a good starting position. Aaron Judge seemingly set the market for superstar players this offseason when he collected $40 million per year over nine years from the Yankees. It's not hard to imagine Ohtani also getting $40 million per year, but he will be a couple of years younger than Judge was at the time of his free agency. In that case, something like 11 years at $40M per year seems possible (that would come out to $440 million in total).Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

It's that time of year, the time when decisions are made: will I make New Year's Resolutions? Should I even bother? Do they turn into life-changing habits or are they broken the first time we drive by the Golden Arches on the way to the soon-to-be uncrowded gym? These are the deep questions pondered by The Guys as they embark on Year Five of the podcast. Particularly, will Robbie and Art be nicer to Jay on air? Could Year Five be his lucky year? Listen to find out … just like Jay will! And of course, more Bat-News in Geeks of the Week, from Jay and Art, while Robbie has a story that could rock the movie trailer world.
