In the dynamic landscape of entrepreneurship, the term "entrepreneur" has become a common buzzword, particularly with the surge in side hustles and businesses since 2016. Notably, 41.5% of entrepreneurs identify as women, while 58.5% identify as men, reflecting a diverse entrepreneurial landscape. The average age of entrepreneurs stands at 44 years old, showcasing a range of experienced individuals venturing into business. However, within this entrepreneurial realm, a unique category has emerged — the Momprenuer. Coined around 1994, a Momprenuer is defined as a woman business owner adept at balancing the demanding roles of both a mother and an entrepreneur. This distinctive perspective adds a layer of complexity to the entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing the challenges and triumphs of women navigating the dual responsibilities of motherhood and business ownership. In the spotlight today is Lanisha Holland, a Momprenuer who not only embodies the essence of a skilled strategist and business coach but also champions the cause of empowering fellow women seeking balance in their lives and side businesses. With a career marked by retiring from Corporate America at the age of 33, Holland exemplifies the pursuit of one's passions and the creation of a fulfilling life alongside her son. What sets Holland apart is her ability to monetize her passions, aligning her career with her interests and, in turn, teaching other moms the art of doing the same. Her story is a testament to the idea that becoming a mom doesn't mean sacrificing one's dreams. Holland encourages women to take chances on themselves, pursue their aspirations, and walk confidently in their purpose. Retiring from Corporate America at a relatively young age, Holland's journey is an inspiring narrative of resilience, determination, and embracing opportunities. She emphasizes the importance of avoiding a life of regret by daring to take chances and pursue one's dreams, even after becoming a mom. Holland's mission is clear — to empower women to be Mom Bosses who not only manage the challenges of motherhood and entrepreneurship but thrive in both roles. As she continues to live her best life alongside her son, Lanisha Holland stands as a beacon of encouragement for mothers everywhere, proving that it's never too late to be a Mom That Bosses. Marion, now several months into his transition to full-time investing, owns properties in Virginia while being based in California.Listen in as Lanisha and Marion give their best advice on investing out-of-state, from finding the perfect local property manager and contractor, to creative financing strategies, and the crucial difference between project completion and high-quality work.*We had to audio difficulties for part of the video but the content was so valuable that we had to include it!Highlights1) When deciding on an out of state market to invest in, look for those “on the path of progress”. Know people in the area. Work with a local realtor or property manager, or invest through syndication to share ownership of a sizable property with less capital.2) The only way to invest is strategically. Purposely go after a project with a repeatable strategy so that you can easily scale your portfolio.3) You want to be extra vigilant when choosing an out-of-state contractor to work with. Apart from studying their previous work and getting feedback from past clients, it's best to set expectations upfront by writing up a contract that includes the draw schedule. How to find Lanisha StubbsInstagram - @lstubbsbrokerHow to find Marion LeeInstagram - @legacyhomesolutionsGet a free Landlord Insurance Quote from Steadily hereGet our new merch- https://blackrealestatedialogue.com/collections/allAccess all of our resources on our website- https://www.blackrealestatedialogue.comDownload my free guide Top 5 Down Payment Assistance Programs- https://bit.ly/dpassistance1Get my New E-book How to Build Wealth in a Recession- https://bit.ly/bredrecessionguideLearn how to invest out of state- https://www.outofstatemoney.com/ Text BRED to 74121 to join our VIP Text List and to get a free training

According to American Express, since 2014 the number of women-owned businesses grew by 21% to nearly 13 million in 2019. That's 42% of all companies at least 51% owned, controlled, and managed by one or more females. When you add over 2.3 million companies owned equally by men and women to that, it represents 49% of all businesses and employs 14% of the workforce. Plus, part-time female entrepreneurs or sidepreneurs increased by 39% between 2014 and 2019, suggesting that a growing number of women see part-time entrepreneurship as a way to pay bills, build wealth, or follow a passion. With more than double the annual growth rate of all other businesses, female founders are steadily breaking down barriers to start and run successful companies. In 1993 James Clark, Johnny Brown, Marvin Steward, Bebe Davis, Thomas Levi Sr, and Thomas Moore from Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids Iowa came up with the idea to start the African - American Museum in the state of Iowa. They wanted to preserve, exhibit and teach black history in the state of Iowa. Since its inception, the Museum has had 4 executive directors. The current director LaNisha Reese Cassell is number 4 on that list and she is the first and the only woman to hold that position in almost 30yrs of the museum's existence. In this episode, I had a privilege to talk to LaNisha about the past, present and the future of the museum and the role the museum plays in advancing the civil rights movement. For some reason it reminded me of a lullaby. Like, I had never heard it before, but it felt like I had, like someone had sang it to me, or something. That was my homage to Charlie Brown, it was my version of “Linus and Lucy.” That makes sense! When I was listening to it, it reminded me of the books my mom read to me when I was a kid, it felt very nostalgic. Yeah that’s exactly what that was. I always loved Charlie Brown growing up—Vince Guaraldi, you know? I was listening to that and I started playing around with that melody. “Interview: Kamasi Washington”, Spectrum Culture “The Magnificent 7” is actually about a homage to a band I was playing with a lot. That was the band I started writing a lot of songs for this album with. “Henrietta Our Hero” is about my grandmother, who was a very powerful figure in my family. She was a little small woman, but she did a lot with a very little. She struggled with some mental illness and stuff like that, but even with all that, she helped my dad and all his brothers buy their first homes, she got me my first car, she got my brother his first car, she did a lot for someone who didn’t have much to work with. “Interview: Kamasi Washington”, Spectrum Culture Art ♫︎

Our inspirational guest is Fran Sandin, who struggled with her faith after the passing of her two sons. Jeffery was her youngest who died of Meningitis at 17 months old. At 29 her oldest, Steve, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and later renal disease. By the age of 43 he passed due to complications from Cystic Fibrosis. These events led Fran to begin questioning her faith. By using her feelings she wrote a book dedicated to this experience named See you later Jeffrey. Instead of being defined by these events Fran used them to become more appreciative of what she and her family has. Tune in to hear how trusting your faith can bring you peace. Our final caller is Jacob, who wants to put himself back in the dating game for the first time since a rough breakup. Nancy tells Jacob to envision the ideal person for him and take the chance. Listen in to find out how taking a risk can lead you to many new and exciting relationships. Maybe you have recently lost a job and need to change directions with your career. Perhaps you had to separate yourself from a toxic friendship. When dealing with any sort of grief, it is useful to reflect on the positive memories and be grateful for the time you had. Learning lessons from the difficult times in your life is how you can live full out.

Change is never easy. In fact, the very thought of change can invoke feelings of fear. Our returning guest, Lanisha Nazon, had a successful beauty studio and was surrounded by a loving and supportive family. She could have become complacent, but instead she acknowledged that the opportunities her talent afforded her were a bit stifled in the community where she lived. She decided not to settle for less than she knew she could achieve, and set out to take a leap of faith that would include a cross country move. Is the fear of change holding you back? Face it head on the possibilities are endless! Listen to Lanisha's journey of faith and be inspired.
