Ray Sinlao is the coder that went 'all-in' on Affiliate Marketing. In 2019 we published a podcast with him that has been one of our all-time most-listened-to shows. Before this conversation, he declined podcasts and speaking engagements. Sinlao preferred to fly under the radar, but make no mistake, he has achieved huge success in a seriously short amount of time, with his 8-Figure Affiliate Marketing business, Standard Conversions. In today’s episode, we’re sharing some highlights of that conversation in a bite-size chunk. You can hear Roland’s full conversation with Ray Sinlao here. What Is An Affiliate Network? As Superintendent/Principal, Ryan Baron has been challenged to oversee and execute an entire new way of educating school children. Some kids did not have internet access at home. Others rely on the school meals. The communities of Tri-County Schools in northwestern Minnesota, like all school districts in the state, have transitioned as best they can. Ryan was my first best friend during our time in school in Browerville, Minnesota. He was my guest on Episode 11 of the podcast as well. During that episode we talked a lot about his passion for genealogy and family history and got back into that topic near the end of this conversation. France's youngest mayor on breathing fresh air into old, local politics. French billionaires and their relationship to power and politics. And when France banned absinthe during the First World War. Mayors are by far the most popular elected officials in France, particularly in small towns where people know them personally. In charge of managing many day-to-day services, including primary schools, local transport and rubbish collection, the role of mayor requires a lot of energy. Yet there's a shortage of new blood; fewer than four percent of the country's 35,000 mayors are under the age of 40. We join France's youngest mayor, 25-year old Rémy Dick (@remy_dick), as he campaigns for re-election in the town of Florange, to find out what drew him to the job and why he hopes to continue. (Listen @) France has a reputation for egalitarianism and high taxes, but it has also produced some of the world's wealthiest people. Olivier Petitjean, a journalist with the French Multinational Observatory who contributed to a report on European billionaires, talks about how France has cultivated the accumulation of wealth, and the relationship between power and money both in France and elsewhere in Europe. (Listen @) Absinthe, the green liquor with the reputation of driving people mad, was banned in France on 17 March 1915 because of its impact on soldiers in the trenches in the First World War. We talk about the "green fairy", its effect on French drinking habits and how it's undergoing a revival. (Listen @) Episode mixed by Nicolas Doreau. French farmers take to Twitter and Youtube to show a different side to their profession, the case for Paris becoming a 15-minute city, and how the nylon stocking helped the rise of planned obsolescence . Farmers in France are in the spotight at the annual agricultural fair in Paris, where urban and rural worlds rub shoulders once a year. We meet a group of farmers who have taken to social media to connect with consumers, tell their own stories and thereby counter so-called "agro-bashing" from environmental and animal-rights activists. France Agri Twittos (@Fragritwittos) are connected, innovative and positive about the future of French farming. (Listen @) How far away from work, from school or your doctor should you live? Carlos Moreno (@CarlosMorenoFr) thinks that in Paris those amenities should be within a 15-minute walk or bike ride and the current Paris mayor has embraced his "15-minute city" concept in her campaign for re-election. The researcher also argues for a 30-minute territory for smaller French cities as a way of addressing many of the issues raised by the Yellow Vest protest movement. (Listen @) On the anniversary of the introduction of nylon, on 28 February 1935 (by Dupont, a company originally founded by a Frenchman), we look at stockings, and the rise of planned obsolescence. When Jean Vanier died last year at age 90, his life and his ministry of working with people with disabilities was nearly universally celebrated. “We don’t often find people born into privilege and status, and highly educated, who then follow the downward path of Jesus,” wrote Bethany McKinney Fox. “But as founder of L’Arche International, Vanier spent decades in community with people with and without intellectual disabilities and embraced the joys, complications, and demands that go along with such a life.” Then, last weekend, L’Arche International released a report, looking over a 30-year span, stating that multiple women told an investigative team about experiences of sexual assault with Vanier. “The relationships involved various kinds of sexual behavior often combined with so-called ‘mystical and spiritual’ justifications for this conduct,” it stated. The report went on to say that the women provided, “sufficient evidence to establish that Jean Vanier engaged in manipulative sexual relationships with at least 6 adult (not disabled) women. This number does not presume that there were no other cases, but takes into account spontaneously received testimony.”This news comes at a time when many are undoubtedly exhausted by the number of scandals and exploits of high-profile leaders.“ Right now, that this is starting to feel very routine is pointing to the fact that the church has done a very poor job of dealing with issues of sexuality and spirituality and power,” said Ruth Haley Barton, the founder of the Transforming Center, an ecumenical leadership organization. “We just don't talk about them and we haven't helped our leaders in our clergy know how to be with themselves around these issues.” For Barton, one of the keys for leaders is submitting themselves to spiritual direction. “It really is almost a non-negotiable if you want to stay the course and stay on your own journey of transformation, stay on your own journey of encounter with God while you are leading others,” she said. “You've just got to have this place outside the limelight where you can bring your whole self.” Barton joined digital media producer Morgan Lee and editorial director Ted Olsen to discuss how to handle anger when learning these frustrating revelations, how to look at the relationship between power and sexuality, and how to process this seemingly never-ending bad news of disappointing leaders without losing your faith. Transcribed highlights of the show can be found in our episode summaries. Five years ago this month, ISIS executed 21 Christian men on a beach Libya. Their masked executors stood in all black behind the men, who knelt in a line wearing orange jumpsuits. After the Islamic State released a video of their murders, images of this massacre of Coptic Christians reverberated around the world. But despite the cultural impact left, Egyptian Christians have long experienced persecution, says Archbishop Angaelos, who serves in London. “The interesting thing is, we live it with a sense of resilience, but we have never fallen into a state of victimhood or triumphalism,” he said. “We realize that it is the cross of Christ. …It's not the end of the road because there is a resurrection that comes after the cross and the empty tomb. And so it is in that hope that we continue to live. And it's in that hope that we continue to carry that cross knowing that it will be removed from us.” Archbishop Angaelos, who still remembers the day he learned of the news recently joined digital media producer Morgan Lee and editor in chief Daniel Harrell to discuss why this act of persecution so greatly impacted the global church, the identity of the only non-Egyptian martyr, and whether the church will experience the same decline as it has in the rest of the Middle East. Are you the goal setter in your relationship? Over the past few years, we’ve noticed a common challenge at our Couples Goal Setting Retreats: in most relationships, one person is a goal setter and the other is not, one person is open to trying anything and the other is a skeptic. There’s nothing wrong with healthy skepticism, but it’s also important to examine how your natural state can influence your ability — and your partner’s ability — to grow. So, with this natural divide in almost every relationship, how can a couple grow together? Dave Hollis, author of the upcoming Get Out of Your Own Way: A Skeptic's Guide to Growth and Fulfillment and co-host of RISE Together, shares what happened when his partner (past guest Rachel Hollis) started her personal growth journey. While she gained personal momentum, he felt unfulfilled and overcome with fear — and until he confronted the fact that who he was getting further and further away from who he wanted to be, he was stuck. Listen to learn how Dave got out of his own way, and how you can too. To learn more, and for the complete show notes, visit: the1thing.com/podcast. Best of the Show! As The Balanced Blonde is on hiatus, today Jordan is re-releasing this incredible episode with her fiance, Jonathan Albrecht. In May Jordan and Jonathan went on an Ayahuasca journey together. Jonathan’s a private kind of dude and doesn’t come on the podcast very often, but Jordan really wanted him to come on and talk about his experience with Ayahuasca plant medicine, especially because it was his first time taking it. In this episode they chat about their key takeaways from the experience, in particular how Jordan came to see herself with nothing but love and Jonathan arrived at a better understanding of death and his family heritage. Jordan wanted to create a bonus episode today for a couple different reasons. One, because she’s been thinking for a while now how fun it would be to release a magical Monday mantra episode since the show usually releases on Wednesdays. And also because her course, Waking Back Up To Your Own Soul, officially launched last week, and the cart is open through July 22. In this episode she takes you through ideas for creating your own mantra. A personal mantra is basically an affirmation to motivate and inspire you to be your best self. Jordan recommends that you write it down, say it out loud to yourself and then think about it as much as you can. Having a personal mantra has completely changed Jordan’s life. It always brings her back to the present moment. It helps her surrender and remember that she is an eternal soul. It helps her with everything that she needs to feel her absolute best. Having a personal mantra also helps us live from a fifth-dimensional, heart-centered place as much as possible, and this is the intention behind Waking Back Up To Your Own Soul. This first round of the course will include four live webinars where Jordan will be channeling and answering your questions. She’s also just confirmed that her spiritual teacher and medium, MaryAnn DiMarco, will be joining her for one of these live webinars. If you’re one of the first 100 people to sign up for the course you’ll be in the draw for an amazing gift basket from companies like @open_heart_apothecary, @rebbl, @liquidiv, @curednutrition, @lovelilbucks, @oseamalibu, @drroebucks, @blenderbombs, and @beautybarchocolate. The first 15 sign ups will receive all of the above plus @foursigmatic!
