Join my interview with Liz Hernandez, a powerhouse in dealership growth and training with the Morgan Automotive Group. With passion and energy at an all-time high, Liz discusses her tireless efforts to uplift numerous dealerships under her guidance. She highlights the crucial role of culture and leadership in driving success, emphasizing that when General Managers (GMs) and managers actively engage with salespeople, everyone benefits. “Train your people,” she says repeatedly making the point that you must “love on people.”  Liz shares her approach to training, addressing the common excuse of being “too busy.” She believes that when the entire team is in sync, more appointments are made, leading to increased sales. Her unique ability to encourage salespeople to seek feedback on their calls reflects a growing confidence and commitment to improvement. Delving into the dynamics of leadership, Liz outlines how successful GMs set the tone for the day by prioritizing collaborative training sessions. She emphasizes that building a strong culture requires GMs to actively participate in daily training on product knowledge, rapport building, and phone skills, ensuring that every salesperson has the tools to succeed. Liz also confronts the challenges faced by service departments, stressing the need for ongoing training. She points out that service advisors, as the frontline of the brand, often struggle with difficult customer interactions. By investing time in training, managers can empower their teams to handle calls effectively, leading to greater customer loyalty and satisfaction. Throughout the episode, Liz advocates for a culture where complacency is absent, and training is embraced as a vital part of daily operations. She shares strategies to celebrate successes and recognize efforts, reinforcing the idea that investing in people leads to better results. Tune in to discover how to cultivate a thriving dealership environment through dedicated training, strong leadership, and a focus on nurturing your team! When you raise your vibration with gentle words and encouraging thoughts, positive changes occur.” This is what the landing page of the WORDAFUL Community website says, and today’s episode is all about the power of words. Today’s guest is Liz Hernandez, a Mexican American Emmy-nominated television personality and journalist, and the founder of WORDAFUL. Liz grew up in San Diego as a self-described radio nerd, with parents who always taught her about the power of words. Years later, Liz became the co-host of one of the most popular shows on one of the biggest radio stations in Southern California, which led to a series of other very prominent hosting positions on channels like MTV and Access Hollywood. Then, her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Liz took some time off from hosting to help care for her mom. Just before she passed, Liz's mom lost 95% of her speech, but her positive spirit and limited speech inspired Liz to gain a new appreciation for the power of everyday words and the lessons that they can teach us. Liz started WORDAFUL, a company that has grown into a thriving community with a large online presence. In this episode, Liz shares a bit about her process, starting with how she grew up, how she landed a coveted position at Power 106, and why the word ‘Canada’ has a special significance for her. How often do we search for a solution or remedy to fix our bodies rather than just letting them heal? Many say all the answers are in nature. If it could only be so simple! "My Mom has Alzheimer's and has lost 95% of her speech." Opening her heart, Liz Hernandez took a break from her TV life and shared her family's personal experiences as caregivers.  Calling the show, the Access Hollywood reporter discussed caring for her mother with Alzheimer's disease. After the diagnosis, Liz didn't speak about it in public for nearly a year.  "Again, the way I was brought up, it was that you handled your family's problem within your family."  Liz also added, "You're on 'denial island' for a long time." When seeing the disproportionate amount of individuals affected by Alzheimer's in the Hispanic community, Liz changed her stance. I thought, 'No, the right thing to do is to spread the message."  I have to do this in honor of my mother. In addition, Liz wanted to see purpose in the heartache she and her family continue to experience. I thought if I don't speak up, all the hurt and all the pain and anguish I have felt, it goes in vain. If I can help another family avoid some of the hardships ...please go on Alz.org.  Look at the warning signs and share them with your friends. Don't just assume that it never going to happen to you. I think that was one of the most naive things I've ever done in my life—assuming that something like this wouldn't happen to my family. Liz also offered that one thing she wants to tell others struggling with this disease. "Focus on what they still have." Sharing that she, like so many, began this journey by only thinking about the losses.  As her family moved through caring for her mom, she learned to relish what remained. Check out some of the videos of Liz from her new project, WORDAFUL.  Through this new YOU TUBE channel, Liz is strengthening, empowering, and inspiring others—one word at a time!
