Are you aligned with who you want to be? If not, how can you stop self-sabotaging and start rewiring to become who you want to be? In today's episode I discuss identity, dry January, and the importance of our words and thoughts. I share about our constant thought processes, and how they affect our day to day. How to work on the power of positivity without being toxic, because shit is allowed to suck sometimes. How journaling and mindset work can greatly improve your life. That it's okay if you feel like you're spiraling backwards, because 1% better than yesterday is still better. With mindset, it's important to focus on the why (positive thing) rather than the why (negative thing) while giving grace because we are creatures of habit. I also discuss a bit about the Full Moon in Cancer that we just had on January 6th and the relation to the beauty of insecurities coming up when it comes to the healing process. While Connecticut's craft beer industry has grown steadily over the last decade, the pandemic posed challenges to taprooms and wholesale retailers alike. Nearly half of the state's 125 breweries received federal relief funding, according to the Brewers Association. This hour, we hear from the Connecticut Brewers Guild about how staffing shortages, supply chain snags and price hikes are still a factor for the industry. WBUR recently reported a "carbon dioxide shortage is affecting Massachusetts craft production." Brewers Guild Executive Director Phil Pappas says the price of CO2, an integral ingredient in production and canning, has already gone up. He has concerns the shortage could affect Connecticut in the future. The Brewers Association's annual report found that, nationally, small and independent craft brewers had "rebounded" from the pandemic. While 12 breweries have closed in Connecticut since the start of the pandemic, 22 have opened. Plus, we hear about a new scholarship opportunity aimed at diversifying the Connecticut craft beer industry. New England Brewing Company's (NEBCO) Director of Marketing and Sales Jamal Robinson recently launched the NEBCO African American Brewers Scholarship. The goal was to finance one aspiring Black brewer annually, through Sacred Heart University's new 11-month brewing science certification program, they were able to support four young brewers. Robinson also organized this year's Change in the Air Beer Festival, the first Black-run beer festival in the state. Robinson says the Change in the Air Committee that has formed around the effort has submitted an application for non-profit status. GUESTS: Jamal Robinson: Director of Sales and Marketing, New England Brewing Co. This week on Fresh Hop Cinema: We experience the next chapter of 1982's iconic SciFi/Noir classic "Blade Runner" in it's successor "Blade Runner 2049." Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Arrival) with a masterful eye lent to cinematography by way of Roger Deakins, we revisit a futuristic Los Angeles in which a new model 'replicant' named "K" (Ryan Gosling) tugs at a thread that slowly unravels, revealing a stunning discovery. Starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana De Armas, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright. Beers: 1) "Sofa King Hoppy" by Local Craft Beer (Tehachapi, CA) 2) "Mocha Machine" by Beachwood Brewing Co (Long Beach, CA) Please consider rating/reviewing us on iTunes and joining us on Patreon. Ep. 31 - Fans of the Local Natives have been waiting almost 3 years for the release of their 2nd album, which finally came out last week!  And before they went out on tour we sat down with Kelcey and Matt in our Bronson Island studio to talk about food.  They told us about their favorite Cuban sandwich place in Seattle, the worst meal they've ever eaten on tour (spoiler: it was in Montreal!), and what happened to Taylor after he followed up a 10 day juice cleanse by eating steak topped nachos. They also tell us about their obsession with beer, and the fun surprises they get by including "Local Craft Beer" as one of the things on their rider.  Their new album Hummingbird is available now, and you can see their tour dates on www.thelocalnatives.com
