On this day of Lent, we invite you to reflect on these scriptures. What is the Spirit saying to you today? Psalm 5:1-7 Listen to my words, Lord, consider my lament. Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, Lord, detest. But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple. Jeremiah 11:1-5 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Listen to the terms of this covenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem. Tell them that this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant— the terms I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace.' I said, ‘Obey me and do everything I command you, and you will be my people, and I will be your God. Then I will fulfill the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey'—the land you possess today.” I answered, “Amen, Lord.” Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:7-10 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need…During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given since Jesus had not yet been glorified. Prayer Almighty God, whose most dear Son suffered pain before joy, and was crucified before entering glory, mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it the way of life and peace. And by faith, following his purity of life, may we with him receive the crown of everlasting life. This we ask in the name Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Saviour Redeemer also brings to the table important #prophetic #truths. Judgment is not what many believe for it was the very route of #judgment that #Judah although #affliction and troubles pursued her, it led to restoration with the #GodofIsrael. Herein we find #joy, #gladness, and of the voice of the #bridegroom, and of the #bride. We find that the #Lord is #merciful, and that mercy is extended through the #generationsofman. The voice of #praise and not sorrow, the #voiceofhappiness and #blessing replaces the #wilderness of #Godswrath and #judgment. The word here is #Restoration. Thus, #Isaiah says "thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob" - Isaiah 60:16. #SaviourRedeemer,#Saviour, #Redeemer, LORD

Tom Watts Series: Against the Flow Daniel 9 St John's Downshire Hill - Sunday 19th November 2023 6pm
In these times of troubles and tribulations we must remember that some things in our lives are allowed to produce in us the fruits of the Holy Ghost which are Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, kindness, and Hope. Some of our sufferings are for our purification as we learn to produce these fruits not only for those in the body of Christ but for also those who Godless and have no knowledge of Him and his Goodness and Righteousness. Remember he came and died for those who did not know him nor desired to be saved by him. He was rejected by many of those who he came to save in the household of faith. So we will suffer in his sufferings as we continue to share the Gospel to those in great need of salvation and deliverance.

There is such a temptation as to capture everything on video these days. Even the Pope has gotten irritated and said, “Will you put down your phones and look at me.” Everybody seems to want a selfie! It is a good thing, but it can go too far. When we somehow forget to be present to the moment. The irony is that it is been going on a long time! (Read more…)Here is my homily for the Transfiguration of the Lord . Recently, we began using video versions of the homilies so that you can listen and watch. I hope you find that useful. Your Faith Journey - Finding God Through Words, Song and Praise
This is a special musical presentation of Lord, Listen to Your Children, sung by Chancel Choir at Faith Lutheran Church in Okemos, Michigan.
I believe we could apply Daniel 9:18-19 like this. "O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the church which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.19 "O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your church and Your people are called by Your name." This prayer by Daniel and the previous verses show us why the church is in the state it is in. We Christians like Israel have done wickedly and God has allowed us to become captives to the world and sins that we have not repented of. I believe if we were to repent and cry out to God like Daniel did He would begin to work mightily through the Church and Christians again.Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Have you trusted Him as your Savior? He can Save you if You ask Him based on His death, burial, and resurrection for your sins. Believe in Him for forgiveness of your sins today. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” -John 8:32 Our mission is to spread the gospel and to go to the least of these with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ; We reach out to those the World has forgotten. hisloveministries.podbean.com #HLMSocial hisloveministries.net https://www.instagram.com/hisloveministries1/?hl=en His Love Ministries on Itunes Don't go for all the gusto you can get, go for all the God (Jesus Christ) you can get. Sermon: 禁食禱告神為何不聽? Why Won’t the Lord Listen Despite Our Prayer and Fasting? Speaker: Rev. Jeremiah Cheung Scripture: Zechariah 7:8-14 Translated to English by Bro. Isaac Cheung 禁食禱告不是向神要求的籌碼,神聽我們的禱告與我們的生命與生活有重要的關係,禱告的人是誰比他禱告的內容更重要。 Fasting and prayer are not bargaining chips. This week, Rev. Jeremiah Cheung reminds us that the way we live our lives has a direct bearing on whether or not God answers our prayers, for the Lord places more importance on the person who is praying than in the content of our prayers. Acts 5:1-11 (NIV) Ananias and Sapphira 5 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. 3 Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” 9 Peter said to her, “How could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” 10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

New International Version (NIV)This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Listen to the terms of this covenant and tell them to the people of Judah and to those who live in Jerusalem.Tell them that this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Cursed is the one who does not obey the terms of this covenant— the terms I commanded your ancestors when I brought them out of Egypt, out of the iron-smelting furnace.’ I said, ‘Obey me and do everything I command you, and you will be my people, and I will be your God. Then I will fulfill the oath I swore to your ancestors, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey’—the land you possess today.”I answered, “Amen, Lord.”The Lord said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem: ‘Listen to the terms of this covenant and follow them. From the time I brought your ancestors up from Egypt until today, I warned them again and again, saying, “Obey me.” But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubbornness of their evil hearts. So I brought on them all the curses of the covenant I had commanded them to follow but that they did not keep.’”Then the Lord said to me, “There is a conspiracy among the people of Judah and those who live in Jerusalem. They have returned to the sins of their ancestors, who refused to listen to my words. They have followed other gods to serve them. Both Israel and Judah have broken the covenant I made with their ancestors. Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will bring on them a disaster they cannot escape.Although they cry out to me, I will not listen to them. The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they will not help them at all when disaster strikes. You, Judah, have as many gods as you have towns; and the altars you have set up to burn incense to that shameful god Baal are as many as the streets of Jerusalem.’“Do not pray for this people or offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress.“What is my beloved doing in my temple as she, with many others, works out her evil schemes? Can consecrated meat avert your punishment? When you engage in your wickedness, then you rejoice.”The Lord called you a thriving olive tree with fruit beautiful in form. But with the roar of a mighty storm he will set it on fire, and its branches will be broken. The Lord Almighty, who planted you, has decreed disaster for you, because the people of both Israel and Judah have done evil and aroused my anger by burning incense to Baal.
Today pastor Olu brings us a message called, Lord Hear, Lord Forgive, Lord Listen, Lord act.Pastor Olu teaches us how when Daniel encountered hard times, he prayed.Pastor Olu teaches how we can use Daniel's example of prayer as a format for our prayers. He also says that too often we as Christians request things from God rather than being in tune with God and understanding who He is which essential for having a fruitful prayer life
As the final installment in our "miniseries" on marriage, we complete 1st Corinthians chapter seven, with Paul's answers to the Corinthian's questions about marriage. Next week chapter eight picks up with a new question and a new topic. The last section of this chapter has some difficulties. The difficulties exist because Paul is addressing some very specific questions they had and we don’t know the questions! It’s like Corinthian Jeopardy — we have the answers but have to guess at the questions. Another challenge is that we don’t fully understand the context — what was happening in Corinth at the time. In fact, Paul refers to a “present distress” and we can only guess as to what that distress might have been. But despite that, Paul's answers are based on some sound and insightful principles and truths that are clear and relevant to us today! Paul has addressed two married believers, a believer married to an unbeliever, widows, and the previously married (now divorced). In the last section he discusses “virgins”, or those that have never been married — the single folks! He laid the foundation by saying that we can just live our Christian life right where we are. We must not imagine that some change in circumstance will open the door for us to be more Christian. Now Paul applies that wisdom in comparing the single life to the married life. For Paul, the bottom line is our freedom and ability to serve the Lord. For the single person, there is one less potential distraction — marriage! Is Paul “anti-marriage”? Is marriage and family a “disability”? Maybe and maybe not. Has family life distracted you from serving the Lord? Listen in as Pastor Steve unpacks Paul's answers and opinions, as well as godly wisdom we find as we unfold this passage.

Doing I tell the truth? Do I promote the idea that I am more spiritual than I am? Confess and pray for forgiveness. Acts 4:32-5:11 (NIV) The Believers Share Their Possessions 32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. 36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means “son of encouragement”), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet. Ananias and Sapphira 5 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband.11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

How does he respond? Does he get angry or does he postpone anger? Is it right to not punish your son and "train up your child in the way of the Lord?" Listen in to this great testimony that exemplifies having faith and trusting God with your children and their character. Title: "Acts 5" Series: Acts of the Apostles Test: Acts 4:32-5:16 The Believers Share Their Possessions 32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And Godâs grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostlesâ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need. 36 Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means âson of encouragementâ), 37 sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostlesâ feet. Ananias and Sapphira 5 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2 With his wifeâs full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostlesâ feet. 3 Then Peter said, âAnanias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didnât it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasnât the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.â 5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then some young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7 About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8 Peter asked her, âTell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?â âYes,â she said, âthat is the price.â 9 Peter said to her, âHow could you conspire to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.â 10 At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11 Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events. The Apostles Heal Many 12 The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomonâs Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peterâs shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.
One of the themes of Shavuot is that it is associated with a wedding proposal and betrothal. Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown. Jeremiah 2:2 Who was the wedding proposal given to? What were the terms and conditions of this proposal? We will explore these questions. Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. You shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD. And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.Leviticus 23: 16-17 What is the deeper spiritual meaning of the two baked loaves that are offered up as firstfruits and waved before the Lord? James tells us to delight ourselves in the Lord and He will grant the desires of our hearts. So how do we delight in our Lord? Listen to today’s message to find out!
There is a scripture that has been quoted more often than other piece of literature in the history of the world. It is the bedrock of our faith. God is one, and besides him there is no other. In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul gives the Corinthians marriage advice. Paul isn't against marriage but reminds that there are challenges in marriages. Marriage is going to be hard enough; the last thing it needs is more difficulties. Your relationship with God has to trump everything else including your relationship with your spouse. We must be focused vertically on Him. Our focus in marriage has to be on the Lord. We can fix our relationships and marriages by fixing our eyes on Christ. Push your spouse to pursue a relationship with Christ. Are you creating distraction in your spouse's pursuit of the Lord? Listen to this sermon about from 1 Corinthians 7 in the seventh part of our In The Word - 1 Corinthians series.
