For part 2 of the FN Video Game Swap, we're talking about Lost In Random! Lost in Random is an action-adventure game developed by Zoink and published by Electronic Arts. Part of the EA Originals program, the game was released 10 September 2021. It was the final game developed by Zoink prior to their consolidation into Thunderful Development. It received generally positive reviews from critics. A sequel titled Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is in development at Thunderful and is scheduled for a 2025 release.We talk about the card-based combat system and how it's a super interesting idea that overstays its welcome sometimes. We also discuss how much we love the setting, writing, and world and how it all reminds us of movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Boxtrolls or Coraline. This show gets lost there all the time! In a fitting move, the Xbox Game Pass “Surprise Me” button has randomly selected this aptly titled third-person action-adventure game. As the final game developed by Zoink before it was absorbed into Thunderful Development, this title has some decidedly indie sensibilities, including both literal dice rolls and card mechanics integrated into its otherwise action-style combat. Considering his appreciation of physical board games and his general aversion to digital card games, it will be interesting to see how Tom reacts to this particular mix. This week on GGSP: We roll the dice on the dark fairy tale adventure of Lost In Random, plus DARREN dishes out some more tips on how to tackle tough games!

Bei Lost in Random regiert der Zufall. Das Königreich ist in sechs Teile getrennt und ab dem zwölften Lebensjahr wird ein Würfel geworfen, der über das Schicksal der Kinder entscheidet. Even verliert so ihre Schwester Odd, da ihr Würfel die sechs zeigt und sie fortan zur dunklen Königin nach Sixtopia muss.Even begibt sich mit ihrem Würfel-Begleiter Dicey auf eine magische Reise durch die Lande um ihre Schwester zu finden. Die Welt erinnert dabei stark an Tim Burton mit den skurrilen Charakteren. Das Kampfsystem ist etwas Besonderes, denn es kombiniert Action-Kämpfe mit Deckbuilding. Das entschleunigt das Spiel oft enorm und könnte manch einen stören. Mir hat diese erfrischende Mischung in der Tat sehr gut gefallen, auch wenn die Kämpfe an sich doch recht monoton ablaufen. Das Sammeln der Karten macht auch eine Menge Spaß und die Welt holt einen wirklich ab, einfach märchenhaft.
