Ep 92: The Final Fantasy XVI demo is out and we're not the only people blown away - the number of people who've never played one before and bought it after playing the demo is astronomical. Also, Ed's finished Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers, Ben's got into Sea of Thieves, and we've both fallen off the Diablo wagon! Plus, we chat about the Summer Games Fest and Xbox Showcase, as well as what you've been playing!
After redoing a lot of FFXIV content with my UI turned off, I am proud to present this episode we've had on ice until I was able to present all the reference material I wanted to. The Sorrow of Werlyt questline in Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers features a bunch of designs and fights inspired by the Weapons of Final Fantasy VII, the mobile suits of Gundam, and more mecha anime besides. Please enjoy our coverage, both vocal and with thorough screenshot references. Here is a Google Drive folder with screenshots for all these designs, taken by yours truly. Final Fantasy community, if you wanted to do your own documentation in the future so I didn't have to take reasonably hard fights with my UI turned off, that'd be like super sick. If you want to find us on Twitter, Dylan is @lowpolyrobot and Six is @sixdettmar. Our opening theme is the Hangar Theme from Gundam Breaker 3, and our ending theme for this episode is Answers from Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn by Nobuo Uematsu, arranged by Tsutomu Narita, with lyrics by Yaeko Sato and Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, and performed by Susan Calloway. Our podcast art is a fantastic piece of work from Twitter artist @fenfelt. Want to see a list of every unit we've covered from every episode, including variants and tangents? It's right here. Units discussed: Sapphire Weapon (FFXIV) Emerald Weapon (FFXIV) Diamond Weapon (FFXIV) Zenos yae Galvus's Sword Golf Bag Arch Ultima Proto Ultima Ultima Beast G-Warrior G-Savior G-Savior Mk-II

Remember us. Remember that we once podcasted. Emet-Selch, the principal antagonist of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, is a unique blend of a foppish eccentric, a world-erasing psychopath, and a grieving survivor. He's a complicated, entertaining foil to the Warrior of Light, and Retro Encounter is going to examine him under the RPG Villains microscope as a last hurrah for Shadowbringers before Endwalker captivates the Final Fantasy XIV community (and around 40% of RPGFan staff). Nolan hosts the show this week since Nick has fallen victim to the perils of being middle-aged. As they say though, the show must go on. Brad delivers his impressions of Monster Hunter Stories 2 (much to the dismay of Chris Davis) and the indie strategy RPG, Wildermyth. Krispy is finally far enough to deliver some juicy impressions of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers now that he's had some time with the expansion with the community! Of course, this episode was recorded mere hours after the announcement of the Valve Steam Deck so we deliver our first impressions of this bonkers announcement.

Together with American Songwriter, we had the pleasure of interviewing Jason Charles Miller over Zoom video! Jason Charles Miller is set to release a new album, From the Wreckage – Part One, on Feb. 19, 2021. The first single from the album, “Better Late Than Never,” is available now via all streaming platforms. Straddling the line between rock and country, the new single and forthcoming album will be released through Miller’s own Haunted Mill Music record label, and puts his gritty, passion-filled style on full display.Produced by Jason Charles Miller, Stewart Cararas and Matt Hyde, From the Wreckage – Part One is Miller’s fifth full-length and sixth studio release. The album features several collaborations, including Adam Shoenfeld (Tim McGraw) playing lead guitar and “Cowboy” Eddie Long (Jamey Johnson) playing pedal steel on “Better Late Than Never,” Duane Betts of the Allman Betts Band on “Expiration Day,” and Katie Cole from Smashing Pumpkins on “Day After Day” along with Eban Schletter (film composer) playing the theremin. An accomplished performer with more than two decades of professional experience as a singer, songwriter, producer and voice actor, Jason Charles Miller has quietly established himself as a strong force in the Americana, Country and Southern Rock genres.Released in 2018 by Sony Music, In the Wasteland was Miller’s third full-length solo release. It featured numerous guest appearances, including Rickey Medlocke (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke), and Dug Pinnick (King’s X). The album expanded on Miller’s roots in Americana and country, dynamically exposing his blues-inspired and southern rock influences. As a solo artist, Jason Charles Miller has performed alongside and opened for country and rock artists including Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Ashley McBryde, Allman Betts Band, .38 Special, Night Ranger, Gary Allan, Justin Moore, Big Kenny of Big and Rich, and Jerrod Niemann. In 2019, Miller was lead vocalist on the Billboard chart-topping theme song for the ‘Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers’ video game. He has also contributed two songs to the critically acclaimed ‘Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance’ soundtrack and sang backup for Robert Smith of The Cure on the Reeves Gabrels/Robert Smith track “Yesterday’s Gone.”As the frontman and founder of the rock band Godhead, he was the only artist ever signed to Marilyn Manson’s Posthuman Records and sold more than 250,000 albums touring the world with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Rammstein, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. In 2004, Miller penned the all-star collaboration "Forever in Our Hearts," a song to benefit the victims of the 2004 tsunami in South Asia, which included Brian McKnight, Mya, Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), Nate Dogg, and many more.Originally from Clifton, VA, Miller now lives in Los Angeles, CA, where he owns and runs the successful recording complex Central Command Studios. We want to hear from you! Why are we even doing these big online presentations anymore? Shit, they can't even let us know when half of these games will be playable thanks to the console manufacturers holding out until the last possible second. It's kinda hard to care about video games for a number of reasons right now, but the situation around "reserving your preorder" and the apparent price hike for games isn't inspiring a lot of confidence. Now Playing:Tyler - Divinity Original Sin 2, Apex Legends, Ghost of TsushimaFrank - Divinity Original Sin 2, Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers, Apex Legends, NBA 2K20, MLB The Show 20Contact Us:@PSReportPodcastPlayStationReportPodcast@gmail.comFrank: @TheArcticSlothTyler: @PluggedOnVids

On this week's episode of The Game Informer Show podcast, we go around the video game world and back again. The show starts with Matt Miller and Leo Vader as we discuss our time spent in Apple Arcade. From new gems to old favorites, we put perspective on the service now that we have been using it a few months. Alex Stadnik is this week's super producer. Next, Joe Juba, Brian Shea, Ben Reeves, and Alex Stadnik all join me to discuss the results of our competition to predict who will take home the win at The Game Awards that happened last week. Let's just say there is a lot to discuss. And victory here might make you the smartest person in the world. In the next segment, Ben Reeves, Joe Juba, and Dan Tack join me for community emails where we do the unthinkable: We rate the Mona Lisa. Then we have the sixth and final installment of our Game of the Year chats, where I ask guests what games are defining their year. I am joined by Ben Reeves, Matt Miller, and Dan Tack as we try to get in some last-minute discussions. Check the list below for all the games we covered over the last few weeks. Find those podcasts on your favorite service! And finally, Joe Juba interviews Michel Koch, Jean-Luc Cano, and Raoul Barbet from Dontnod Entertainment. They are some of the minds behind Life is Strange 2, which recently saw its successful conclusion. Joe has a spoiler-filled chat with the team about the process of making the game, so fans who have already finished Life is Strange 2 should definitely tune in. Thanks for listening! Please make sure to leave feedback below, share the episode if you enjoyed it, and follow me @therealandymc to let me know what you think. ow it’s time to talk about all the stupid Vidya Games that we’ve been playing, AKA, the one all with the snack talk, and Japanese PlayStation 2’s. In an effort to deliver better content, at a more consistent pace, we'll be continuing the format we introduced last episode, and it's one that’s going to be different from the one we’ve done for the last ten years. Instead of catching up on all the news and games that have happened between shows before the chosen featured topic, we have decided to release each of these segments as a dedicated episode in their own right, including the featured topic, with a projected weekly schedule in mind—so this week, it’s all about what’s been in our consoles! Ser, Andrew, and George pick apart all of the nitty-gritties in their playing habits this week, with talks covering Espagaluda 2, Destiny: Solstice of Heroes, Judgement, Collection of Mana, Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Pokémon GO, Dreamcast GDEMU, Border Down, Tail Concerto, PlayStation PSiO, and so much more! So plug in some headphones, or connect to your Bluetooth because this is going to be another bite-sized cast from us until we put another episode for y’all later this week!
Every so often something affects the entire crew of the show enough to make us want to do an all hands deep dive into it. We had been waiting for the last few stragglers to finish up the Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers content before recording our big spoiler show, and over the last few weeks that happened. Tongiht we have the full normal cast as well as a friend of the show Shiana for a sit down as we crawl through the story of this expansion. Unfortunately, we realized there was no way to cram it into a single episode so we will continue next week with the second part. Topics Discussed: Final Fantasy XIV End of Stormblood Shadowbringers Expansion
