With a pretty disappointing season prior to the clay, Iga Swiatek looked a lot better with a new coach in her camp. After a solid run in Rome losing out to defending champion Elina Svitolina, some even said Swiatek might be a big favourite to win the Roland Garros title a fifth time. She won her first two rounds, avoided a dangerous clash against Ostapenko, and then lost in two sets to Madrid champion Marta Kostyuk in the 4th round in Paris. Now what? Is it the end for Swiatek? Are her best days already behind her? Are the only things left for her now her memories and trophies?I don't think so. It's never clear cut, but Swiatek is only 25 years old, and it happens to basically any great player to have a slump, a bad season or two, or to deal with some difficulties during their careers. The important thing is to keep coming back, keep trying to find solutions, keep playing and fighting. It won't be easy, but with patience and resilience, I really think Swiatek will get back to her best - and maybe lift the Roland Garros trophy again as early as next year.Favourite this podcast if you like our work :)SUBSCRIBE to the YouTube channel!Follow TENNIS AND BAGELS!Twitter/X: https://x.com/TennisAndBAGELSAndre:Twitter/X - https://x.com/RolembergAndreBlueSky Social: https://bsky.app/profile/andrerolemberg.bsky.socialVansh: https://x.com/vanshv2kOwen (BlueSky Social): https://bsky.app/profile/owensports.bsky.socialSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/tennis-and-bagels. Send us Fan MailResh and Stef are BACK and they are UNWELL about clay season — in the best possible way. In this episode, your favorite hosts break down everything that happened between Charleston and Roland-Garros, and honey, there was a LOT.Elena Rybakina won Stuttgart and finally learned how to drive. Marta Kostyuk did a back handspring after winning the Madrid Open. Hailey Baptiste snapped a racket in half with her bare knee and ascended to icon status. And Elina Svitolina defeated basically every top player alive en route to winning Rome, completing what the tennis world is calling the Ukrainian Sweep of 2026.Also on the agenda: the Roland-Garros draw is simultaneously a gift and a crime, Coco Gauff is hungry and motivated and we love to see it, and Iga Swiatek has a draw so brutal it would make a lesser player retire on the spot.Plus: Gael Monfils is retiring and Elina Svitolina wrote a letter about him that will make you sob into your pillow. And Billie Jean King got her bachelor's degree at 82 and shot tennis balls into the crowd. We don't deserve her.Support the showInstagram : Out_Wide_PodcastJingle : https://www.nelaruizcomposer.com/Logo: https://www.instagram.com/crayonspaghetti/

Roland Garros 2026 is almost here but first… we need to dive into the 2026 Rome Recap — Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim break down Jannik Sinner's historic run: six consecutive Masters 1000 titles, a Career Golden Masters, and stats that are simply unplayable. Plus, the incredible story of Elina Svitolina: a transformed player post-motherhood, representing Ukraine with pride while her country faces ongoing conflict. We also sit down with Marta Kostyuk (ranked a career-high #15) fresh off her Madrid title for a candid conversation about her win at the 2026 Madrid Open, growing up on the tennis court, and what it means to be a Ukrainian athlete right now. Tennis for kids helpful hints, Late Night discussion, Marta Kostyuk is a bad ass, also messages in bottles so romantic.
Jannik Sinner extends his Masters series win streak and his utter dominance over That Guy, while Marta Kostyuk back handsprings through her unbeaten clay season, grabbing her biggest career title over a bereft Mirra Andreeva. Now in Rome, the top players are demanding a fairer prize money split and genuine player consultation with Slams; several top players even endorsed a boycott if they can't make progress, an utterance that would have been unheard of even a few years ago. We take some forays outside of the week's news, as usual, chatting about tennis history, Whitney Houston, and the provenance of one of our social media handles. 1:50 Jannik wins 5 Masters in a row 5:10 The Gap™ 13:20 Absolute cinema: the Madrid trophy presentation 26:05 Et ceteras: Prakash and Arthur, the Bezos Gala, Flavio says NO 31:05 Players take aim at RG: prize money/revenue split, player welfare, and consultation are the big issues 41:00 Italian Federation president said “Yes, and” 49:50 Whitney Houston dedicates Arthur Ashe Stadium 57:25 10 years ago: one of tennis' great unhinged moments
Mike and Sam are back, and many people are now saying these two knuckleheads are culturally more important to tennis than The Woodies and Rod Laver combined. Not me though, I would never say that. They talk Madrid, Sinner's dominance and the appropriateness of Marta Kostyuk's celebratory backflip. There's also wild Alcaraz wrist injury speculation, blatant ethnic stereotyping, and a May the Fourth-themed guessing game that will leave the whole family horrified. All jokes aside, it's actually pretty funny.
