Dan Kiernan, Director of SotoTennis Academy in Spain has teamed up with John McGahon Ireland's Fed Cup Captain and Director of MacXTennis Academy in Ireland to create a podcast that entertains, educates and energises you through this difficult period of lockdown due to Covid-19. Hear Dan and John pick the brains and gain valuable insight into the minds of professional tennis players, coaches, parents, as well as others in High Performance Tennis.
The Control the Controllables podcast is an absolute gem in the world of tennis podcasts. Hosted by Dan Kiernan, this show brings together a wide range of knowledgeable guests who share their wisdom and experiences from years of playing and coaching tennis. What sets this podcast apart is its focus on unraveling the mindset of elite performers in sports and life. Listeners are in for a treat as they dive into the depths of thousands of years of tennis experience, uncovering the behaviors and traits that have led to success.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the incredible diversity of guests that Dan brings on. From players and private coaches to federation coaches, commentators, physical trainers, mental skills specialists, tennis parents, successful businesspeople, and even child prodigies, there is a wealth of perspectives to be gained from each episode. This variety ensures that listeners get a holistic look at tennis, addressing issues and probing for solutions across different areas.
Another standout feature is how the podcast delves into the minds of players during big moments on court. Listeners get an insider's perspective on decision-making under pressure and gain valuable insights into how different players navigate their way through high-stakes situations. It's like having a backstage pass to some of the most critical moments in tennis.
The hosts, Dan Kiernan and John Kiernan, do an excellent job facilitating conversations with their guests. They are engaging, interesting, and not afraid to ask tough questions. Their interviewing style ensures that listeners get the most valuable information from each guest.
While it's hard to find any major faults with this podcast, one minor drawback could be that there haven't been many current top ten players featured on the show. However, with such a diverse range of guests already showcased, it's just a matter of time before some top-ranked players join in too.
In conclusion, The Control the Controllables podcast is an outstanding listen for any tennis enthusiast.
