Day 10 at Wimbledon 2025 delivered thrilling quarterfinal action across the men's and women's singles draws. In the men's quarterfinals, Novak Djokovic overcame a brief scare after slipping on match point to defeat Flavio Cobolli in four sets, 6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, earning his 14th Wimbledon semifinal appearance. Jannik Sinner, in commanding form despite earlier elbow issues, dispatched Ben Shelton 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 to set up a blockbuster semifinal against Djokovic. There was also a surprise retirement announce from another Italian - Fabio Fognini - on site after his whirlwind performance earlier in the tournament against Carlos Alcaraz. On the women's side, Iga Swiatek reached her first Wimbledon semifinal with a solid win over Liudmila Samsonova, 6-2, 7-5. Joining her is Belinda Bencic, who edged out rising star Mirra Andreeva in two tight tiebreaks, 7-6, 7-6, continuing her impressive return to form as a new mother - but should this really be the narrative? James Gray and George Bellshaw are back on the microphones at a pleasantly early hour after four relatively straightforward quarter-finals on the second Wednesday of Wimbledon. - Novak Djokovic "played with his food" by dropping the first set to Flavio Cobolli but came through in four sets, despite a nasty looking fall behind the baseline - Iga Swiatek is doing her best to grow her reputation in Britain with five straight match wins at Wimbledon, into her first SW19 semi-final - Jannik Sinner's elbow seems to be fine, judging by the smacking he handed a downtrodden Ben Shelton - Mirra Andreeva is out, beaten by Belinda Bencic, who had a baby just 15 months ago Learn more about your ad choices. Moments after Grigor Dimitrov's shocking retirement at two sets to love up against Jannik Sinner, Catherine, David and Matt were live to feel their feelings and review the day. Part one - We start by reacting to the heartbreaking moment Dimitrov had to retire against Sinner after tearing his pec. We discuss the devastation on Centre Court, the way Dimitrov had been outplaying Sinner up until that point, and the uncertainty facing Sinner as he goes into the next round having not won a set and having hurt his elbow after taking a fall in the opening game. In the quarter-finals Sinner will face Ben Shelton who beat Lorenzo Sonego for the third straight major in a really fun match. Can Shelton trouble Sinner? There's also an assessment of the difficulty Novak Djokovic had against Alex de Minaur, the way he turned the match around, and how he might fare against Flavio Cobolli in the last eight. Part two (38m55s) - In the women's draw, Mirra Andreeva impressed on her Centre Court debut by beating Emma Navarro, Belinda Bencic eventually came through against Ekaterina Alexandrova, Iga Swiatek didn't have too much trouble against Clara Tauson, and Liudmila Samsonova is finally putting her game together at a slam.Part three (56m11s) - A look ahead to tomorrow's quarter-finals and the moment Reggie got a selfie with Roger Federer. Day 8 delivered drama and breakthroughs at SW19. Join Joel and Kim as they wrap up the day's proceedings at Tennis Weekly HQ. Novak Djokovic clawed back from a 1–6 opening set to defeat Alex de Minaur in four, sustaining his run toward a record 25th Major. Jannik Sinner, despite trailing two sets, advanced after Grigor Dimitrov heartbreakingly retired with a pectoral injury—a win Sinner called bittersweet. Meanwhile, Ben Shelton and Italy's Flavio Cobolli secured their first-ever quarter-final spots with impressive victories over Lorenzo Sonego and Marin Čilić.On the women's side, Belinda Bencic made a strong post-maternity return by upsetting seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova, Mirra Andreeva became the youngest quarter-finalist since 2007 with a compelling win over Emma Navarro, and Iga Świątek continued cruising past a below-par Clara Tauson. Liudmila Samsonova also sent the young Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro packing in two tight sets. They also look ahead to the start of the Quarterfinal action on Day 9 which sees home hope Cameron Norrie take on the two time defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court, and Aryna Sabalenka up against tour veteran Laura Siegemund in the German's first Grand Slam singles QF.BABOLATBabolat are an official partner of Wimbledon and their Wimbledon collaboration collection and Pure Drive (2025) is available to purchase now from babolat.com SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Tennis meets Super Bowl! It's been another memorable week on and off the tennis circuit as hot off the press Serena Williams graced all our TV screens crip walking (!) to Kendrik Lamar at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Back on the tour, Carlos Alcaraz caught a cold as well as his first ever indoor hard court title with a win in Rotterdam to equal Rafael Nadal, and Belinda Bencic enjoying another successful week in Abu Dhabi, this time as a Mother, to win her 9th career title in just her fourth event back from maternity leave.Meanwhile, Denis Shapovalov stormed to the Dallas Open title, defeating 3 Top 10 players en route and reminding us all of his immense talents, whilst Anastasia Potapova clinched the Translyvania Open, an event at which we saw one of the most successful WTA players of the 2010s, Simona Halep, retire.Chris also tests Kim and Joel's knowledge of indoor Champions with a new Par for The Courts, and they discuss all the recent tennis x Super Bowl madness on Super Bowl Sunday with the aforementioned Serena Williams popping up plus a Roger Federer TV ad spot with 'Elmo' from Sesame Street.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.
