As we continue our series on transition, few have done it better than our guest Jack Wilson. He’s a rebel professional golfer and cult hero who has transformed himself and his sport throughout his career.Jack burst onto the scene back in 2013 seemingly from nowhere, becoming Australia’s first PGA trainee to win an Australasian Tour Event and placing third at the Australian PGA Championship, nearly pipping star Adam Scott. But it has been much more than Jack’s performances on the course that have raised eyebrows. It was the blonde dreadlocks (which he recently shaved off for charity), the full beard, fresh attitude and Happy Gilmore style story that challenged golf’s establishment.Jack believes golf has got boring and is out to change culture, to make the sport he is so passionate about accessible to a bigger market and the next generation of kids. But it isn’t easy. Not everyone wants to change. There’s a cost, but Jack says it is worth it.Jack talks about this as well as his remarkable story, including his meteoric rise and the struggles that followed, how he’s building a business and brand while disrupting golf and much more.Request to book Jack Wilson for guest speaking, appearances and partnerships here.PickStar is the best place to book sports stars and personalities for any event, campaign or experience you can imagine.Choose from over 1500 stars past and present, PickStar works fast with ANY budget. Sydney Roosters legend Anthony Minichiello saw the end of his playing career coming, and planned accordingly. Many of his footy mates didn't, with tragic results. Anthony says the come down from the highs of a sports star life can be hard. Many athletes struggle to find a new purpose, and structure, for their new life. It was different for 'Mini' who was raised by hard working Italian parents who made him get a trade in the early years of his NRL career. He maintained a life of balance, which extended beyond his world of sport. Anthony went on to captain the Roosters and holds the record for most games and most tries at the club. He's decorated as they come - a NSW State of Origin representative, Australia and Italy representative, and winner of the Golden Boot Award for International Player of the Year in 2005. Anthony's career coincided with a big shift in the commercialisation of sport. He talks about the evolution from his first contract worth $10,000 and drinking plenty of beer after every match, to the professional game it is today. Anthony also shares lessons learned from his humble upbringing, how he built a broad network and interests outside of rugby league and the challenge of growing the game nationally. Mini was in Adelaide to promote the Roosters' clash with the Storm at Adelaide Oval on June 24, and was able to squeeze in our interview between promotional duties. If you missed it, make sure you go back and have a listen. Now in Part 2, Chris goes into the detail of high performance from the perspective of overseeing an elite team, but also on a personally. Chris is a Dad, and each of his fellow coaches at Geelong have three or more kids, so despite holding one of the most demanding jobs, Chris strives for balance. Not just for himself, but those around him. He's obsessed with high performance, but tries not to be blinded by it - Chris admits this is something he's had to get better at. He believes that going too far can lead to poor decision making and exhausted, unhappy teams. Chris is a private person and admits to struggling with the public nature of his job. You're unlikely to have ever heard a current AFL coach like this before. Geelong premiership coach Chris Scott joins us for an in-depth, two -hour discussion and we're bringing it to you, in full, over two episodes. This interview is syndicated with Off-Field (http://off-field.co), a podcast that focuses on the world of sport outside of the arena, and also hosted by Rooster Radio's Andrew Montesi and James Begley. This is not just a typical footy chat. If you lead a team, have an interest in high performance and want to know how the best in the business operate, you'll get a lot out of this interview. The Brisbane Lions dual premiership player says he didn't want to be a coach. After finishing his playing career, Chris took an offer to be an assistant at Fremantle because he thought it might be his one and only chance to give coaching a shot, and fell in love with the job almost instantly. Less than three years later, at just 34 years old, he was being shortlisted for senior coach opportunities but wasn't even sure he wanted the top job, as late as two weeks before accepting the role at the Cats. In Chris' own words, he was unbelievably unprepared. You can't blame him for not rushing into the gig. There wouldn't be many jobs with higher scrutiny and less stability than that of an AFL senior coach. This hit home for Chris when his great mate, Brenton Sanderson, was sacked by the Crows. Chris is philosophical about his volatile world however the human impact of the position on those around him, particularly his young daughter, weighs heavy. He also talks about the evolution of coaching, gives a rare insight into performance reviews, his workflow and much more. The trio talk about the mismanagement that has previously plagued Sri Lankan cricket, how the talent pathways differ from countries like Australia, the commercial challenges and how the country has still somehow found a way to success. Player welfare has also been on the agenda. Without an influential players association, there's been little support particularly for former cricketers facing hardship. Australian Diamonds netball star Caitlin Bassett has recently moved from Perth to join the Sunshine Coast Lightning in Australia's newly formed national netball league. It was a big decision for a girl who was born and raised in Western Australia and became a household name at West Coast Fever, Caitlin says calling her coach to say she was leaving was one of the toughest conversations she's ever had to have. She hopes the new league and developments in the sport will be another step forward in the professionalism of netball, where even the top players, including Caitlin, are part-timers. Caitlin says only the top few players in the country will earn six figures, which is remarkable given the participation and widespread interest in the sport. Caitlin talks about the commercial opportunities, including the personal side of her campaign with Samsung, and much more.
