As an expert in the payment technology industry, I can confidently say that PayPal and merchant accounts both have their pros and cons. Let's start with PayPal. PayPal is a popular payment processor that allows businesses and individuals to send and receive payments online. One of the biggest advantages of using PayPal is that it's easy to set up and use. With just a few clicks, you can start accepting payments from customers all over the world. Another advantage of using PayPal is that it's widely recognized and accepted by consumers. This means that customers are more likely to trust and use PayPal to make purchases, which can ultimately lead to increased sales for your business. However, there are also some disadvantages to using PayPal. For one, PayPal charges fees for each transaction, which can add up over time. Additionally, PayPal has been known to freeze accounts or withhold funds for various reasons, which can be frustrating for businesses that rely on those funds to operate. Now, let's talk about merchant accounts. A merchant account is a type of bank account that allows businesses to accept payments from customers using credit and debit cards. One of the biggest advantages of using a merchant account is that it gives businesses more control over the payment process. With a merchant account, businesses can choose which payment processor to use and negotiate lower transaction fees. Additionally, businesses can access their funds more quickly than they would with PayPal, which can be important for cash flow management. However, setting up and maintaining a merchant account can be more complex than using PayPal. Businesses will need to work with a bank or payment processor to set up the account and ensure that it meets all regulatory requirements. Additionally, businesses will need to be vigilant about fraud prevention, as they will be responsible for any fraudulent transactions that occur. In conclusion, both PayPal and merchant accounts have their advantages and disadvantages. As a business owner, it's important to evaluate your specific needs and weigh the pros and cons of each option before making a decision. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to accept payments online, PayPal may be the best choice for you. However, if you want more control over the payment process and are willing to put in the time and effort to set up and maintain a merchant account, it may be the better option.
So 2022 is almost over, and we covered many subjects on the podcast over the year. This past month was busy with all sorts of crazy news stories, and we were active at the office with many different projects. Here are the topics we talked about in the last month: We thought "Cannabis" would rise and Congress would pass the Safe Banking Act - only to find out that they kicked the can down the road again. Then we get notices from Visa and the Banks that we deal with about Cashless ATMs and that they are shutting it all down and fining business and the companies who placed them $50K per device. Cryptocurrency has been in the news the last month with the FTX debacle. Congress, CFPB - Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, SEC Security, Exchange Commission, and FinCEN are all cracking down on the "Digital Asset" industry. Making stiff laws regulating Anti Money Laundering Rules and Regulations and Crypto companies have until Feb or March 2023 to finish up audits. In our opinion, the law regarding how Crypto is handled needs to be changed to what Japan is doing; there, you can purchase, then the crypto/tokens are moved to another platform that acts as a bank to hold the Crypto/Tokens. This way, what happened at FTX can't occur; Coinbase has a setup similar to that - where you purchase on Coinbase, and then the crypto/tokens are held in the Coinbase wallet. We talked about our community giving project. https://nationwidepaymentsystems.com/community-giving-project/ We talked about how scams are on the rise right now, especially during the holiday season; everything from check fraud (watch for future podcast), shoplifting, and friendly fraud in retail and restaurants, along with fraud on the internet with e-commerce and Identity Theft. We covered how to Thrive in a Recession and down economy and provided some excellent advice and lessons from the past about things we had had to deal with when it came to business and experiencing similar circumstances. Digitizing your business and marketing needs to be on your list of things to do for 2023! Businesses all need to embrace the new way to do business - OMNI Channel or Compete Business Solution and offer your customers the services that the big companies offer - we have it all available for you! Have a website that provides delivery, in-store pickup, and curbside pickup so you can compete in 2023! Level up your technology! We also explain what the F is a Merchant Account and What the difference is between a bank account and a merchant account. Also, we explain why you need separate business bank accounts to save money on taxes and more! And we describe a simple formula of how to figure out how to calculate what you pay for credit card processing. You have to listen to get that GEM. Each Business Owner/Merchant must ensure that they are in full compliance with all PCI-DSS Data Security Standard Protocols. Hefty penalty fines may be charged DIRECTLY to ANY Merchant who is determined to be NOT PCI-DSS Compliant. Often, this may simply mean the Business Owner or Merchant who signed their respective Merchant Agreement has not gone online and completed their PCI Survey Questionnaire. In today's podcast, we'll be talking about what is an omnichannel merchant account. It's one of those new words that we talk about a lot on the podcast. The FinTech industry. The FinTech word is in, in its is another one of those words that, that is constantly in the news, Google updates and all that other, yeah. They either call it omnichannel or commerce. Yeah. Everybody's calling it something a little different. So what. omnichannel, it's everything. It's basically, that's what it is. It's nice. What can you do? It's like merchants need to do so much with their business. The business was, really simple when I started doing this business in 1999, 2000. You would just go to the merchant, you put a terminal on the counter, then merchants expanded into, oh, I gotta have a website and sell on my website. We had to get 'em a second merchant account. So then they needed a second merchant account for the eCommerce. Then. Companies started saying we don't want merchant to have all these, merchant account, too many merchant accounts. So they would give 'em what they call the Omni account. They called it so that you had your retail account where you were doing your card, present transactions, and then your Omnicom, your second account, because pricing is a little different. You'd have a second. Merchant account for your non card present transactions like for your website or virtual terminal. Now there's a few companies. There's one company we deal with has it for B2C. And then we have another company. We have Omni channel product for B2B. We'll talk about that one on a separate podcast, cuz it's the focuses are a little bit different, but with omnichannel now you can. We have one dashboard, you log into the dashboard and literally you can do everything.

So check out the podcast and learn how we get it done. We also discuss CBD, HEMP, Dispensaries, and more today! Carpe Diem - Seize the Day! Allen and Justin

When it comes to merchant services - we have the experience of dealing with all types of businesses and technology, and we talk about small business - taking your side hustle to the next level and what to consider when you will start accepting payments - credit cards and getting merchant services. Many entrepreneurs are thinking about offering CBD because of its known benefits. Yes, it's a potentially lucrative business, but one that comes with strict regulations. On top of dealing with federal and state laws, it can be pretty challenging to get approved for a merchant account. Starting a CBD business without a merchant account is risky. So this is one component you want to get right. Unfortunately, most credit card payment processors don't allow the use of their service for high-risk merchants, including CBD sellers. But there's a solution for that -- CBD merchant accounts. Tune in to this excellent talk to learn how to navigate the merchant account application process, especially if you're thinking about launching an online CBD shop. “I can guarantee you there are providers out there ready to help you; just be upfront and honest about what you're selling. ” - Maria Sparagis Connect with Maria: Maria Sparagis Website: http://mariasparagis.com/ (http://mariasparagis.com) DirectPayNet Website: https://directpaynet.com/ (https://directpaynet.com) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariasparagis (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariasparagis) Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/directpaynet (https://web.facebook.com/directpaynet) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/directpaynet (https://www.instagram.com/directpaynet) Twitter: https://twitter.com/mariasparagis (https://twitter.com/mariasparagis) Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ph/directpaynet (https://www.pinterest.ph/directpaynet)

It's also a good idea to have a backup merchant account, even if you're already using Stripe or PayPal, to safeguard your business in the event that one of your other accounts gets suspended. Getting a merchant account can be tricky, especially if it's your first time. Payment processors use a variety of criteria to determine whether to approve a merchant account or not. So tune in to this episode to learn how to navigate the merchant account application process and increase your chances of getting approved. “Getting a merchant account should not be painful. Part of running an online business is the ability to accept card payments. Luckily, there's a simple way to begin accepting online credit card payments. You can choose a third-party payment service provider such as Stripe or PayPal and do away with an extensive application process or credit check. However, many customers have complained about sudden account holds or even account suspensions from Stripe and PayPal without warning or explanation. A better option is to set up a merchant account. It can be more time-consuming to set up but will likely end up costing you less down the road. As you can see, there are pros and cons to each type of payment system. By being aware of how credit card processing works, you can make an informed decision about the most effective way to accept credit card payments, while delivering a seamless experience to your clients. Tune in to this episode for a quick guide to choosing your payment solution. “Prevention is the best recourse.” - Maria Sparagis Connect with Maria: Maria Sparagis Website: http://mariasparagis.com/ (http://mariasparagis.com) DirectPayNet Website: https://directpaynet.com/ (https://directpaynet.com) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariasparagis (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mariasparagis) Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/directpaynet (https://web.facebook.com/directpaynet) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/directpaynet (https://www.instagram.com/directpaynet) Twitter: https://twitter.com/mariasparagis (https://twitter.com/mariasparagis) Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ph/directpaynet (https://www.pinterest.ph/directpaynet)
