#260. Middler extraordinaire and fellow podcaster Jon Lathrop sits fourth chair as we head into Independence Day festivities. He's a bbq master from Texas who co-hosts the show Grab'em in the Brisket and if his cookout skills don't make your mouth water, his July 4th USA outfit will. This episode goes way beyond meat, however, as we discuss some of our typical fare: hot dogs being considered sandwiches, shady customer service at drive-throughs, airplane snacks, and people getting in our way. We do discuss a bit of streaming as well with Shane Gillis' “Tires,” The Acolyte, WWE, and the presidential debate, which makes the next sentence even more important. Until next time, be kind to each other.Grab'em in the Brisket - https://www.grabeminthebrisket.comMain Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpodVOICE MAIL! #170. We begin this episode responding to a comment from a Middler who has witnessed some shady, shall we say “slumlord-y,” behavior among fast food management. Are these experiences descriptive of an entire class or industry? We take on the heavy economic topics of our day with ease. Then we talk about sneezing in bathrooms for a while. Granted we stole the content idea from some pretty famous podcasters/comedians, but they stole from us first. If you look under the stall next to you and see some FIRE Jordans, that could be Kory. He's becoming a seasoned vet in the sneaker release world. Finally, we catch up on some of what we are streaming including She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Star Trek: Discovery, and Top Gun: Maverick. It's not even colon awareness month, but we're doing our part with our streaming list. Even if we're a little behind. LinkTree is below for interaction! 109. Happy Independence Day, America! Kory and three hundred thousand of his friends spent the days surrounding the long weekend camping on the hot pavement outside of BMV locations. Otherwise, we generally had decent celebrations despite the humidity. Kendall's beloved cooler is the only thing which didn't make it through. This brings up an interesting discussion of things we have lost but regretfully can't get back. We spend the last half of the episode responding to Middler questions and comments concerning previous discussions! We revisit people being directionally challenged, pet peeves, and freak flags. Those interactions were quite fun and we want more! Please find the details below through our Linktree to find where to do that. And please keep passing your favorite episodes along to anyone who might enjoy them! Thanks, friends!Main Landing Page - https://linktr.ee/fromthemidpodVOICE MAIL! #082. Happy wonderful little week between Christmas and New Years! In this episode we discuss how we think Christmas went and share the joys of our time with you. We also get into what New Year's Eve celebrations might look like for families in the middle of...you know. Ugh. New Year's Day also brings up another fun topic: college football! We talk college football playoff and such. Finally, we each had an opportunity to watch Pixar's newest full length offering, Soul. We encourage you to stream the film for free via Disney Plus and join us for the applause, critique, and general discussion. Or don't and listen to us and take us at our word, but that's no fun. What is fun is sharing your thoughts, emotions, and dreams with us! The Facebook group (From the Middler for the Middlers), other social channels (fromthemidpod), or voice mails are perfect for doing just that. We hope you all have a safe and happy New Year! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message

#066. We're trending up, y'all! In this episode, we take some time to share some exciting updates with the Middler crew as we have been reaching milestones and joining a network and other fun things! Thank you, friends! Also, Kory shares some marital advice and how it pertains to staining a fence. Kendall shares his woes of other home upgrade things, then we discuss the concept of indie journalists. Is it good for anyone with a camera to join rowdy "festivities" under the self-proclaimed umbrella of "the press?" We try to tackle that question and share the story which brought that discussion to our table. Please note, we are just three idiots who would love to hear YOUR perspective on anything we discuss. You can hit the link below to leave us a voice message. Also, join us in any of our social media discussions! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message

Let us know with a voicemail or other type of communication of your choice. Thanks again! This was a fun one! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message
#035. Another interactive episode featuring the voice recordings of our Middlers! Jeremy Kester sits in for another episode, which is always fun. We discuss some Middler thoughts concerning everything from Instant Pots to possible cultural trends which may have escaped us in the past. And Jeremy delivers some stories and viewpoints in ways only he can. We mentioned family quirks and funny stories. Have some humorous or odd anecdotes about your family which you wouldn't mind sharing and would like us to react to? Send them our way! We'll be collecting these stories for a while to compile them into a future episode! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message
#021. As promised, we continued our interaction among your comments with a line by line look at one Middler's peeves and flags. We discussed some Disney plus updates, then we finished off with some of Kory's favorite jokes. We love you guys! Keep the questions, comments, and suggestions coming! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message
#019. We had so much fun complaining about other people that we decided to take some time to flesh out those complainable weird things that we own. As one Middler described them, our "freak flags". Everything from throwing away food too early, to picking at skin until it bleeds, to a few things in between. A From the Middle tell-all. So get into our heads and judge us as you wish! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fromthemidpod/message
I get the chance to chat with the queen of vintage, Molly Stonesifer. We talk about defining your style, consumerism fashion, and how we have a kinship with our hairstyles. Molly is a sewist, mother of three, pinup model, and does it all exceedingly well with a vintage flair attached to it. Give her a listen!
I chat with debut novelist Kirsty Applebaum about the inspiration and process behind creating her fantastic book - ‘The Middler.’ I also recommend some other titles by fellow Bath Spa MA alumni.

It's the 25th anniversary of Hocus Pocus. Well, it was this summer… but enjoy ANOTHER halloween where someone pressures you into watching this movie! Ever wonder what Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, and Martha Jefferson talked about in their early 1800's book club meetings? Me neither, that's a different movie. In First Wive's Club, we talk about the true first women of America: Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Bette Middler. Why does Rach have most of this movie memorized? Who would Ty rather make out with? Who does Rach want to play in a musical version? We even get into a little Ivana Trump talk, which spurs Ty into dreams of daughter Ivanka after the tape machines stop rolling. Plus, Ty sings...per usual... Photo credit: Brandon Hanson. The Muslim-Israeli conflict is an ongoing struggle to find the right balance between the rights of two groups who share an ancient biblical heritage. Dr. Tom's student guest cohost is Nancy Mercurio, a second-year student—known in seminary jargon as a Middler—in the Unity Institute® and Seminary Master of Divinity program. Nancy is an author and business owner who serves leaders and organizations globally to improve effectiveness. She has a bachelor's in business administration and a master's in management-human relations and organizational development. Their two expert guests are Dr. Seth Ward, an associate lecturer in religious studies at the University of Wyoming, where he teaches Islam and Middle-Eastern subjects, and Imam Bilal Hazziez, Muslim cleric and Islamic community leader in the greater Kansas City area.
Dr. Shepherd's student guest cohosts are Jan Stromseth, senior at Unity Institute® and Seminary, who will be graduating in June, and Jeanmarie Eck, who is a Middler in the three-year degree program. Guests include Dr. Mark Muesse, professor of world religions at Rhodes College in Memphis and widely respected scholar whose lectures can be heard on The Great Courses series released by the Teaching Company. The program also features Ami Bhalodkar, a practicing Hindu and licensed marriage and family therapist who lives and works in the greater New York City area, and Arvind Khetia, columnist for The Kansas City Star, who answers questions from a Hindu perspective.
