In this episode of The Winston Marshall Show, I sit down with Michael Lucci, founder of State Armor, for a deep dive into what he argues is the most urgent national security threat facing the United States today: the growing influence and infiltration of the Chinese Communist Party.Lucci makes the case that China is not just a competitor, but a systemic adversary, one with the industrial power, ideological ambition, and long-term strategy to challenge American dominance globally. We explore how this conflict has evolved since the end of the Cold War, why the CCP views the United States as its primary enemy, and how concepts like “United Front” warfare shape Beijing's approach to influence and control. The conversation examines alleged Chinese infiltration across American society, from universities and critical infrastructure to state legislatures and supply chains. Lucci outlines how espionage, economic leverage, and political influence are, in his view, being deployed at scale, alongside more unconventional tools like social media platforms, cyber operations, and even the fentanyl crisis. We also discuss the geopolitical stakes, from Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific to the role of NATO allies, trade policy, and the legacy of Trump-era tariffs. Lucci argues that the United States is only beginning to “wake up” to the scale of the challenge, and that resilience, particularly at the state level, will be key to countering it.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Our show is independently supported by you, consider signing up to our substack to get added benefits like ad-free and extended episodes here: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lara Krinsky opens by warning that public messaging doesn't match the hidden “movements beneath the surface,” then speaks with Lt. Col. (Res.) Or Horovitz about a fragile window in which the Middle East could tip into either renewed war or a drawn-out stalemate. Horovitz says the key U.S. pressure point is the Strait of Hormuz—where Iran's harassment and a U.S. maritime blockade are colliding—while the deeper, harder issues remain Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missiles, where he sees little “zone of agreement.” He describes Iran's leadership as fragmented and incoherent after recent upheaval, with the IRGC potentially calling the shots and still telling itself a delusional “survival equals victory” story that makes concessions unlikely. On China, he argues Beijing's priority is restoring steady oil flow, but warns that even “dual-use” Chinese materials could massively accelerate Iran's missile production if not stopped through U.S. economic leverage. Horovitz says Israel's strategic imperative is regime destabilization over time—Reagan-versus-the-Soviets style—while simultaneously preventing Iran from rebuilding nuclear and missile capabilities, and he frames removing Iran's enriched uranium as the single most important near-term outcome. He also sees a rare opportunity in Lebanon: under U.S. “umbrella” diplomacy, Israel and Lebanese officials could move toward a peace process that steadily drains Hezbollah of Iranian money and influence, even as Hezbollah tries to sabotage talks with provocations and the region's next looming challenge becomes Turkey as the Shiite axis weakens.

A US national security expert believes Iran is gaining leverage out of the ceasefire, showing it can open and close the Strait of Hormuz at will. “The real question here is: what is Iran holding back?”, New Haven University's Dr Matthew Schmidt told Mike Hosking. “Can they restart their threats over the Strait of Hormuz six weeks from now, two weeks from now, right, six months from now?” Gulf states were “desperate” for the strait to open and to have Iranian drones and missiles under control. "They're being fired directly at their oil and gas facilities, which are going to cost hundreds of billions of dollars - if they are taken offline - to restart.” The key question was what would happen in two weeks' time - whether Iran would “flex their muscles” and threaten to close the strait, or control which ships could travel through. Schmidt believed the Iranian regime was weakened and would not last long-term, but it could still be in control for a decade or more. In this episode, journalist and author Puja Mehra speaks with Safi Rizvi, National Security Expert, Risk Analyst, Former top Intelligence Officer and Former IPS officer, about how the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States and its allies is reshaping the foundations of the global economic and geopolitical order. They discuss how the post-Cold War system—built on multilateral institutions, bilateral diplomacy and a broadly rules-based framework—is now giving way to a more fragmented, power-driven world.Rizvi explains how the erosion of multilateralism and the breakdown of negotiation channels are altering the way conflicts unfold, making them longer, less predictable and more economically disruptive. He also examines how recent wars—from Ukraine to West Asia—are exposing gaps in military strategy, accelerating shifts in defence technologies, and strengthening the global military-industrial complex. They explore how the centre of gravity in energy markets has shifted from the West to Asia, and why disruptions around critical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz now pose far greater risks for countries like India, China, Japan and South Korea. What does this mean for energy security, global trade flows and the ability of emerging economies to navigate prolonged geopolitical instability?Tune in for insights into how this conflict could reshape markets, energy dynamics and the global balance of power.CHAPTERS(00:00) Introduction (01:05) Rise of De-multilateralization (04:12) AI Targeting and Failures (06:01) Military Intelligence Gap Concerns (07:10) Attritive vs Attritable Munitions (08:20) Global Energy Buyer Shifts (10:45) Ground War Damage Risks (12:40) Breakdown of Negotiation Trust (14:20) Oil and Gas Predictions (16:44) Conditions for Peace Deals (18:25) Proposed Buyer OPEC Plus (19:58) India's Measured Peace Call (22:25) Strait of Hormuz Miscalculations (23:01) Leveraging Financial Trade Power (25:02) Trump's Aggressive Defensive Strategy (27:25) Future Republican Leadership Shifts (28:30) Market Adjustments and Tariffs (30:08) Iranian Resilience and Nationalism For more of our coverage check out thecore.inSubscribe to our NewsletterFollow us on:Twitter |Instagram |Facebook |Linkedin |Youtube

Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance on Capitol Hill this week, as he crashed a hearing that was held to determine whether or not he would be held in contempt for defying a House subpoena. House Republicans have been investigating Biden's overseas business dealings, and his father, the President's potential involvement. FOX News Legal Editor Kerri Kupec Urbahn joins to discuss the legal ramifications Hunter Biden faces for defying the House subpoena, why she believes Hunter made the appearance before Congress, and how his gun charges in California impact the federal investigation into his business dealings. Congress is yet again working down to the minute to avoid a possible government shutdown. The first funding deadline is next week, but a larger shutdown is on the horizon if Congress fails to reach a deal by February 2nd. Over the weekend, Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) worked out a continuing resolution to fund the government until then. However, many Republicans in the House are against it. Congressman Matt Rosendale (R-MT) is one of them and joins the Rundown to discuss his opposition to the CR and why he thinks the House should impeach the Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
