Have you ever prayed a prayer simply for the sake of praying and not expect God to answer or give you a directive? The thing about prayer is that it is a conversation between you and your Creator. It is active and it involves waiting in anticipation and expectation for God will say. We have to: 1. Expect a response - Habakkuk 2:1 NIV ”I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.“ 2. Test what comes - if it's from God, it won't b contrary to His word- 1 John 4:1-2 NIV ”Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,“ 3. Have Faith - Hebrews 11:6 NIV ”And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.“ Having an expectation of God makes it more likely that you will receive from Him. Examine your expectations of God today. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/galy-j/message

Win At Home Pt. 2 | April 30, 2023Pastor Wes Morris Joshua 3:1-5 (NLT) Early the next morning Joshua and all the Israelites left Acacia Grove and arrived at the banks of the Jordan River, where they camped before crossing. Three days later the Israelite officers went through the camp, giving these instructions to the people: “When you see the Levitical priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God, move out from your positions and follow them. Since you have never traveled this way before, they will guide you. Stay about half a mile behind them, keeping a clear distance between you and the Ark. Make sure you don't come any closer.”Then Joshua told the people, “Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.”√ We lose our vision.Proverbs 29:18 (NIV) Where there is no vision, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom's instruction.Proverbs 29:18 (ERV) If a nation is not guided by God, the people will lose self-control, but the nation that obeys God's law will be happy.√ We lose common sense.II Timothy 4:3 (NLT) For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. CLEAN HOUSEJoshua 24:14-15 (NLT) So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone. But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”(20-23) If you abandon the Lord and serve other gods, he will turn against you and destroy you, even though he has been so good to you.” But the people answered Joshua, “No, we will serve the Lord!”“You are a witness to your own decision,” Joshua said. “You have chosen to serve the Lord.” “Yes,” they replied, “we are witnesses to what we have said.” “All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord.”I. Proverbs 24:6 NIV Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers. 4. Do I have peace? 1 Corinthians 14:33a NKJV For God is not the author of confusion but of peace… Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Questions: 1) Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you thought God was speaking to you, but you weren't sure? How did you navigate that experience? 2) It's important to use filters to help determine whether or not God is saying something. What is your first reaction when you feel a nudge from God? What filters have you applied in the past to help you differentiate God's voice versus something else? 3) Have you ever walked through an open door you felt was from the Lord and experienced anxiety? How did you manage those emotions? What was the outcome of that experience?

Sermon Notes Hebrews 11:7 NIV "By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith." Why did the flood come? Genesis 6:1-2 NIV "When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose." Genesis 6:5-6 NIV "The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled." Genesis 6:4 NIV "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown." "'Noah is the least biblical, biblical film ever made,' Aronofsky is quoted as saying, as well as what the director describes as 'a huge [environmental] statement in the film … about the coming flood from global warming.'" - Ben Child, The Guardian (5/11/14) Jude 1:3-4 NIV "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord." Jude 1:6 NIV "… And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day." What changed as a result of sin and the flood? Genesis 9:2-3 NIV "The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything." Romans 8:19-21 NIV "For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God." The impact of death became greater. Genesis 6:3 NIV "Then the Lord said, 'My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal (corrupt); their days will be a hundred and twenty years.'" How do I make sense of God in moments like this? Genesis 6:7-8 NIV "So the Lord said, 'I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.' But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord." Genesis 6:11-12 NIV "Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways." What does all of this mean for me? 1 Peter 3:18-22 NIV "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him."
Acts 11:19 ESV 19 Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews. Acts 11:20 ESV 20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists also, preaching the Lord Jesus. Acts 11:21-24 ESV 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord.22 The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23 When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose, 24 for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord. Matthew 12:1-4 NIV At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.” 3 He answered, “Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4 He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. Exodus 25:30 NIV 30 Put the bread of the Presence on this table to be before me at all times. Ephesians 1:11-12 NIV 11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. 2 Timothy 1:9a NIV 9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. 2 Timothy 3:10-11 NASB 10 Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me! 2 Corinthians 12:7b-10 NIV … Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Acts 11:25-26 ESV 25 So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. Colossians 1:28-29 NIV 28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. Acts 11:27-30 ESV 27 Now in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius). Which helps us date things 29 So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea. 30 And they did so, sending it to the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul. 1 John 4:1 NIV Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. Sermon Notes - February 27, 2022Good Suffering (1 Peter 2:13-3:7 / 3:13-22 / 4:12-19) - Brian Becker Good Suffering 1 Peter 1:1 (ESV)Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion… 1 Peter 2:11-16 (NIV)Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Therefore submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. 16Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God's slaves. 1 Peter 2:17 (ESV)Honor everyone. Love the church. Fear God. Honor the emperor. “Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace.” - Tactitus (Ancient Roman Historian) 1 Peter 2:18-25 (NIV)Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. Citizens vs AuthoritiesSlaves vs MastersWives vs Husbands Too many Christians are known for what they are against than what they are for…especially right now. Romans 12:10, 14, 18, 21 (ESV)Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor…Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them…If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. 1 Peter 2:21 (NIV)To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. Example: Greek - hupogrammoshupo: “under” // grapho: “to write” An underwriting. A tracing of letters. Copying the writings of a teacher. An example. When you start your day, I want you to ask yourself this question. Does Today matter to you? “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.” - Franklin Delano Roosevelt By Pastor George Lehman As you rise to each new today - How important are the choices you make, the determination to serve God and to live out his word, trusting Him and expecting Him to come through for you. – Living with conviction. Jude 3-4 (NIV) – Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend* for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. *Contend to strive, to battle to fight. This is not an idle position. 2 Peter 1:12-13 (NIV) – So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, Story of the very old granny studying her bible – the one boy says to his friend I see your granny is always reading her bible whenever I come visit you Oh the grandson says, “she is just cramming for her finals.” We also need to be cramming for that great day when Jesus we shall see! Everyone has the power to impact the outcome of his life. Read it again The way to do it is to focus on TODAY. TODAY is the only time you have. It's too late for Yesterday and you can't depend on tomorrow. So how certain are you that “TODAY MATTERS”? Hebrews 3:13(NIV) – But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. Today faith matters Hebrews 11:6 (Amp) -But without faith it is impossible[not hard or difficult] to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. Faith is the very essence of our walk with God. Ephesians 2:8 (NIV) – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. When we think of what faith is we normally think it trusting God for health, answers to prayers for our family our Jobs, need of work etc This is just the tip of the Iceberg – Our FAITH life is the whole ICEBERG. Walking in obedience, forgiveness, purity, integrity righteousness, standing strong through tough times - it's a holistic faith walk – it encompasses every part of your life. Jesus asked this powerful question: Luke 18:8 – Will I find faith when I return? Today growth matters 2 Peter 1:5-9 (Msg) - So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books. If you're not growing, you're dying. If you are growing, you're most certainly changing. Today change matters Change is a clear sign of growth. Change is the clear evidence that you are no longer what you used to be. I'm not what I should be yet, but I'm sure not what I used to be. John 15:1-3 (Amp) - I AM the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you]. Change is not change until you change. Today commitment matters It's your commitment to your decision to grow and change to become more like Jesus that keeps you on The Way. Helps you not be in the way Philippians 2:13 (Amp) - [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. Commitment will cost you everything. Your daily choices to be committed is the only thing you truly control. Today changing your self-talk matters What are you saying to yourself about yourself? Because the content of your self-talk matters WHAT YOU'RE SAYING - determines what you are becoming: You can only speak what is in your thoughts (HEART) and what is in your heart (THOUGHTS) is what you're believing, saying, and living out. Remember what we said about self-talk? Psychologists estimate that you are talking to yourself at a rate of 1200 to 1500 words per minute. In contrast when we speak aloud, we can only go up to 250 words a minute. Proverbs 18:20-21 (Amp) - A man's [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words, he must be satisfied [whether good or evil]. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. Your attitude is determined by your self-talk. Good attitude good self-talk bad attitude bad self talk Today your attitude matters The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind. Nothing reveals who you really are, like your attitude does. The point is man is the only known creature who can reshape and remold himself by altering his attitude. Ephesians 4:23-24 (Amp) - And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude] And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God's image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. Your attitude will determine your momentum. Today momentum matters What God starts, never ends. Ecclesiastes 3:14 (NIV) – I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear Him. God is fully committed to your success and growth. You are the only one who can derail your progress. What are you carrying on your shoulders, what burdens are you allowing to slow you down? How quickly do you rise up in faith when you're going through trials, obstacles, and temptations? Would you say your life has momentum? Today moving from success to significance matters Ultimately, Success is when I add value to myself. Significance is when I add value to others. When God saved you, He had other sin mind. A life isn't significant except for its impact on other lives. “No individual has any right to come into the world and go out of it without leaving behind him distinct and legitimate reason for having passed through it.” - G.W. Carver If your life is only about you and improving yourself and your situation, (looking out for number 1) then you're still on the success track. Today your prayer matters With everything you've heard, simply put, your spiritual life is as great as your prayer life. The success of your Faith, Growth, Change, commitment, self-talk, attitude, momentum, and significance fully depends on your prayer. When people cease to pray, no matter the reason, Christians backslide, youth rebel, preachers leave pulpits, missions close and churches die! “Prayer and worshipping God is the great essential for spiritual fitness. If you have not started Today in prayer and worship … when you get to work you will not only be useless yourself, but a tremendous hindrance to those who are associated with you.” - Oswald Chambers “In the matter of New Testament, spirit-inspired, hell-shaking, world-breaking prayer never has so much been left by so many to so few. For this kind of prayer there is no substitute. We do it - or die!” - Leonard Ravenhill “God forbid that our prayers should be a mere leaping out of bed and kneeling down and saying anything that comes to mind – on the contrary, may we wait on the Lord with holy fear and sacred awe.” - Spurgeon What have you put into place by now in your life to ensure that your ‘Today' matters?
Title: LOVE - 1 John (Guest: Pastor Larry Davis) Text: 1 John 4:7-12 Theme: Real love is understood first when we look at how God loves us. Key Verse: 1 John 4:7 (NIV) Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Message Notes: https://bible.com/events/48753578
Living a Life of Integrity in an Ungodly Culture “The blessing of our integrity will outlive us and guide others in the right path long after we are dancing on streets of gold. The impact and influence are eternal.” - Dr. Russ Frase, Fight for integrity Daniel 6:1-3 (ESV)“It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom 120 satraps, to be throughout the whole kingdom; and over them three high officials, of whom Daniel was one, to whom these satraps should give account, so that the king might suffer no loss. Then this Daniel became distinguished above all the other high officials and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” Living a Life of Integrity in an Ungodly Culture 1. Integrity positions you for an increase of influence. “Because an excellent spirit was in him.” 2 Samuel 22:26 (NLT)“To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.” 2. Integrity positions you to be attacked by an ungodly culture. Daniel 6:4a (NIV)“At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs.” John 15:18-20 (NIV)“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.” Daniel 6:4b (NIV)“They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.” 3. Integrity can cause evil men and women to try to entrap you. Daniel 6:5-9 (NIV)“Finally these men said, ‘We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.' So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: ‘May King Darius live forever! The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions' den. Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.' So King Darius put the decree in writing.” Matthew 5:11 (NIV)“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.” 4. A life of integrity remains faithful to God no matter what. Daniel 6:10-12 (NIV)“Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help. So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: ‘Did you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions' den?'” 1 Peter 2:11-12 (NIV)“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” Steps to help you live a life of integrity: 1. Be brutally honest about your current status of integrity. 2. Take full responsibility for the areas you lack integrity. 3. Remember, integrity is impossible without a life anchored to God and His Word. Psalm 119:105 (NIV)“Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
I Peter 2:11 (NIV) Dear brothers, you are only visitors here. Since your real home is in heaven, I beg you to keep away from the evil pleasures of this world; they are not for you, for they fight against your very souls.

John 3:16 (NIV) Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 (NLT) “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.” Jeremiah 31:3(NLT) 1. Love wins… because God first loved ME. We love because he first loved us. 1John 4:19 (NIV) 2. Love wins even when I don't DESERVE it. For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:9 (NLT) As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one.” Romans 3:10 (NLT) When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:6-8 (NLT) 3. Love wins… and I'm invited to join the CELEBRATION. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:9-10 (NLT) For here is the way God loved the world—he gave his only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. John 3:16

1 Peter 2:11-3:7 (NIV) Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honour the emperor. Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Speaker or Performer: Bob Petersen Date of Delivery: March 3, 2019 Grace for Change1 John 3:7-10 NIV Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.God has been revealing our value to Him.God told me that this must because He needs to show us strong truth to change us.There must be change or there is no growth. There is no change without the recognition of the need to change through dysfunction. The law came before grace. Many today have only known grace.Grace cannot flow like it needs to forward us without the backgrounding of obedience to the law. Many are using grace as a covering for disobedience or doing wrong. It’s supposed to be used for us to have another chance while we’re learning how to overcome the area that’s tripping us up.Instead, we’re just making excuses for not overcoming and blaming it on someone else, our wounding or something from our past. The devil does not care about your wounding, past or anything. We are to be overcoming every enemy by not agreeing with them in our actions.1 Peter 4:17 NASIt is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?We have a misconception that disobedience can go on forever and God’s grace will reset us.This is true with forgiveness but not qualifying to position in God’s kingdom.Jesus healed a man, found him later and told him in John 5:14 NKJV See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.Paul had a weakness where he had trouble overcoming and after praying God told him in.2 Corinthians 12:9 NAS My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. This is what grace is for. This grace was to perfect him in power where he was once weak.We had an outpouring in the 80’s but God’s people just used it to affirm who was the greatest instead of changing them.We need an outpouring of power now to change our weaknesses.► Let’s look some who’s disobedience and lack of change affected them very negatively:Adam EveThose under 40 in the wildernessEli the priestKing SaulJudasAnanias and Sapphira5 Foolish VirginsServant that buried his talentWedding guests with excusesLukewarm in RevelationsThose who take the mark of the beastWhy is it sohard for people to change?Refusal to Recognize FailureNeed for Change Destabilizes ThemBy definition, change is a departure from the past. Those people associated with the last version, the one that didn’t work or the one that’s being superseded and are likely to be defensive about it.The thought comes in, “If I’m wrong in this area, what if everything is wrong.”EgoSome simply don’t want to admit being wrong. Some need to have an image of being on top of things.Perceived Loss of ControlThe belief that admitting to change gives other control over us.Loss of Brain RewardOur brain adjusts to receive reward chemicals by know tasks. When the task changes our brain must change to begin rewarding again. Our basal ganglia in the ancestral or primitive brain are responsible for “wiring” habits. This cluster of nerve cell bodies is involved in functions such as automatic or routine behaviors (e.g., habits) that are familiar and make us feel good.In a way our inertia works against us.More WorkChange is often more work.
…My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I'm going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. Matthew 16:17-18 (MSG) This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out.Matthew 16:17-18 (MSG) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession… 1 Peter 2:9-12(NIV) A Chosen People A Royal Priesthood A Holy Nation A Special Possession …that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.1 Peter 2:9-12(NIV) Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.1 Peter 2:9-12(NIV) Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.1 Peter 2:9-12(NIV) Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.1 Peter 2:9-12(NIV) They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.Acts 2:42-47 (NIV)
Gaining a Godly perspective on love is essential. It allows us to effectively love God, love ourselves and especially love those who we perceive to be unlovable. Pastor Bill Clark starts our new series encouraging us to shift our perspective away from our own and to that of God. Loving Others SHIFT | Week 1 October 29, 2017 | Bill Clark 1 John 4:7-12 (NIV) Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:17b-21 (NIV) In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. A fierce determination to engage others with an attitude of grace and forgiveness. If we’re going to be emotionally, spiritually healthy people, we have to love other people. In God’s way of thinking there is a shift unique to the Christian message. What we need to be are people who can disagree well.
We have been given a new identity in the Kingdom of God - a better identity. Mike King continues our study of the book of Galatians. Primary Identity Galatians | Week 2 June 12, 2016 | Mike King Resident Aliens Galatians 2:1-2 (NIV) Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. Galatians 2:6-9a (NIV) As for those who were held in high esteem—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—they added nothing to my message. On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel...For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the Jewish people, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. James, Peter and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. Our Christian passport trumps our birth passport. Galatians 2:11-12 (NIV) When Peter came to Antioch, I (Paul) opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. Galatians 2:14-16 (NIV) When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. How is it that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? 1 Peter 2:11 (NIV) Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. When Christ changed our core identities He also gave us the power to live out of those new identities.
