Hello and welcome to Into the Pray! Our Friday session this week continues with our season focus of "All the Prophets" and we're delighted to be joined by former Bishop of Rochester, Michael Nazir-Ali. Michael served as the Anglican Bishop of Rochester between 1994-2009 whereupon he began working with the Oxford Centre of Research, Training, Advocacy and Dialogue (OXTRAD). His work with OXTRAD today is perhaps especially pertinent in our world at the moment with the unstable situation in Afghanistan resurfacing.OXTRAD seeks to support the Church in situations wherever it is under pressure. You can find out more here.If you would prefer to watch the Youtube version of this podcast, you can do so here. Michael was born and raised in Pakistan in the 1950s during which time his Father (a Shia Muslim) converted from Islam to faith in Jesus Christ. It was during Michael's teenage years at University in Karachi that he received the gospel himself. This was, in part, thanks to an Anglican Chaplain who, entirely incognito, had registered as a 'mature student' in order to spread the gospel among the students - where there's a will there's a way! Many thanks to Michael and his team for helping us with the episode this week. This thrice-weekly podcast is essentially a faith-based ministry so if you would like to support it (and our wider work) in an ongoing way, please consider doing so here. If you would like to watch our latest YouTube video - The Terror of the LORD - you can do so here. Our flagship 2021 content is here. Until next week, let's be found praying, "Come, Lord Jesus!"Love, N&M xx
At the 2021 Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza we filmed in front of a live audience. Our Friday show featured Eric Howard and Michael Nowell. Eric and his wife Lean have started an awesome group to get kids fishing called the Tropical Storm Kid's Club. This club is for kids ages 3-13. Michael is president of Magnolia Crappie Club in Mississippi. Magnolia Crappie Club is one of the longest running clubs in the state, beginning in 1992, and is know for it's stiff competition. As always, subscribe on YouTube and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
Our Friday trivia series continues with a tough question on a former grinder. Plus, more on the Oilers off-season so far and what's next as the deadline to submit the team protection list for the expansion draft is July 17. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Our Friday's guest is Andrey Nikonorov aka Moonoton. A very busy resident of @popoffkitchen (we're taking the opportunity to congratulate them for the nomination on Dazed) and over the past 10 years he has been leading his continuous musical voyage, performing in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It remains a mystery how Andrey found free time in his busy schedule to make a mix for us, but we'd like to thank him for that! An Andrey's mix is almost an hour of breakbeat, acid house and other things which sounds like it's the end of the 90s again. Listen if you are ready for tears of nostalgia (sincere of false) rolling down your cheeks
Episode 32. Busy week in the world, and we try to cover as much as possible. We discuss John McAfee and the immediate conspiracy theory response to his suicide. Last show of the week and it is a jam packed episode. The Welcome Matt takes a shot at the Milan Lucic troll video that was posted in front of Rogers Arena. Lucic crushing two beers while praising his ex-Boston Bruins teammates on the 10 year anniversary of winning the Stanley Cup in his hometown. LQBTQ+ advocate and former professional goaltender Brock McGillis joins next to talk about his experience being a gay man growing up playing junior and professional hockey. McGillis opens up about the struggles of being gay in the hockey world, and gives his thoughts on how the NHL has handled its gay rights messaging. Our Friday insider Rick Dhaliwal follows Hashtags - the best and worst of Twitter, and gives his insight on whether or not the Canucks will want Travis Hamonic and Alex Edler back, what the status of prospects Jalen Chatfield, Jett Woo, Brogan Rafferty and Guillaume Brisebois, how he feels that Travis Green would like to have Brandon Sutter to come back, and if he thinks the Canucks would move the 9th overall pick. Whitecaps FC colour analyst Colin Miller joins after Tell Me I'm Wrong, and tells us how proud he is of his homeland Scotland drawing with the English today, why he thinks the English side are not as good as they've been built up to be, and how the Whitecaps line up versus Real Salt Lake. Jeff Paterson follows for his final hit of the week and talks about Aleksander Barkov winning his first Selke Trophy, why he thinks Elias Pettersson will one day be in the mix for a Selke, whether or not he thinks that Hamonic will be back with the Canucks next season, and gets an “ask J Pat” where the question centres around offer sheets in the NHL. Andrew tries to sizzle on Hot Take. The show wraps with all the Errors & Omissions. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

She discusses her love for the Schubert Impromptus that she’ll be playing, and how she’s enjoyed exploring new compositions during lockdown. Earlier this week Bolton found itself at the epicentre of the pandemic in England. Bolton is among the areas hardest hit by the Indian variant of the virus - although today the numbers appear to be levelling out and vaccination efforts have been ramped up. At the same time The Bolton Octagon is welcoming back audiences, opening with a new play called See You At the Octagon based on the stories of people in the town during the lockdown. We talk to Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham. Our Friday review this week is the new Channel 5 drama, Anne Boleyn. Tanya Motie and Anna Whitelock discuss its diverse casting, as well as whether it is an accurate portrayal of Anne herself. Form in poetry, like clogs on feet, is fashionable again. A new Radio 4 series, On Form is investigating the way poets now are writing modern work using venerable poetic structures - the sonnet, the villanelle and the ghazal. This is an audio version of our YouTube video. Our Friday night fun starts with Arminia Bielefeld at home to Freiburg. The hosts are 17th in the standings, level on points with Cologne in the relegation play-off spot. Freiburg, meanwhile, are 10th in the table. Into Saturday, seven points clear at the top Bayern Munich face minnows Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena following their 3-2 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. A gap of this size after Matchday 27 has never been lost. Impending champs again? There's a lovely game to follow, with Eintracht welcoming Wolfsburg to Frankfurt. This is 4th against 3rd respectively. They've been in brilliant form throughout the season and only have six league defeats between them! Hertha are only two points above the Bundesliga drop zone. The Berliners take on Borussia Monchengladbach this week in the capital. Borussia have ended their torrid run with back-to-back wins for the first time since January. RB Leipzig's title challenge somewhat continues in Bremen when they play Werder. Julian Nagelsmann's side know that Die Roten Bullen failing to beat Bayern Munich means their chance of title glory is all-but over for another season. Borussia Dortmund performed admirably against Champions League favourites Manchester City on Tuesday night and have the all-important away goal to take back with them. The Black & Yellow go to Stuttgart this weekend looking to edge back towards UCL qualification. On Sunday, we've got Schalke playing Augsburg in the early kick-off, followed by a relegation scrap at the bottom between Cologne and Mainz. That could prove pivotal in the fight to avoid the drop at the end of the campaign. Matchday 28 of the Bundesliga season is wrapped up on Monday evening when Hoffenheim host Champions League hopefuls Bayer Leverkusen in their tiny village. And there we have it, another exciting weekend over in Germany. We hope you enjoy the show! Eduardo is in charge of proceedings again this week. The Work in Sports Podcast - Insider Advice for Sports Careers
Hey everybody, I'm Brian Clapp VP of Content and Engaged Learning at WorkInSports.com and this is the Work In Sports podcast…As promised we're going to continue adding an extra podcast a week as we deal with social isolation and distancing. Our Friday podcasts will aim to inform and educate you specifically on how our current situation is affecting the future of the industry or techniques and strategies you can utilize right now in this unique time.I don't know about you but time seems to be drifting into itself right now, I don't know what day it is since they all seem the same. But, I am marking time personally based on podcast publish dates and I remember our last three Fridays pretty clearly -- The first Friday episode was an interview with Kenneth Shropshire CEO of the Global Sports Institute - he had deep insight into what this pandemic will mean for the sports industry moving forward. Last Friday we discussed ways to maximize your networking during this time ...and today, I have another special guest, Greg Hylton VP of Premium Seating for the Indianapolis Colts.Couple of major reasons I wanted to have Greg on.1: The NFL season is still in play, which means Greg is living a new reality right now and he can explain it.2: He can also explain what is going on inside of the teams and leagues that aren't playing right now and what their strategies may be moving forward when we get back to work.3: I believe revenue-generating roles will be in high demand once normalcy returns, and that all of you should strongly consider sales training courses right now… and Greg teaches a sales training course with our friends at Sports Management Worldwide. So without further ado, let's get to Greg..here he is Indianapolis Colts VP of Premium Seating, Greg Hylton...Questions for Greg Hylton, Indianapolis Colts VP of Premium Seating1: Wednesday, March 11 the NBA suspended their season, and since that time most other leagues have followed suit, it would take us too long to name all the events or seasons that have been affected.Your league, the NFL, hasn't had to suspend the season as of yet – what has the last 2-3 weeks been like for you personally and professionally?2: This time of year, with free agency and the draft coming up there is a natural excitement that I'm sure would play a role in your ability to sell the upcoming season – in a normal year Phillip Rivers signing would be something you'd market and get behind – has the approach changed this off-season?3: While there is minimal disruption to the revenue streams of the NFL as of yet, put yourself in the shoes of the VP of Premium Seating for the Pacers, or the Cleveland Indians… what would you imagine their situation is like right now?4: When we get back to sports, if you were in one of the leagues that had to cancel their season, and lost a lot of revenue – what would be your strategy and approach?5: Prior to joining the Colts 28 years ago, you worked for the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League – I'm guessing that the NBA, NHL and other major leagues will survive this epidemic -- but what about the minor leagues, independent leagues, emerging sports – do you think they can rebound from the loss of revenue?6: I'm old enough to remember sports after 9/11 – there was a feeling in the initial aftermath that nothing will be the same, we won't be safe at games, fans won't come back etc, etc. but we got back to reality, sports continued to thrive – people came to the games.Do you see a steady return to normalcy once the worst of this has passed – or do you think it'll take some convincing to get fans back to the stadium?6: What can teams do to ease any concerns and make it really worthwhile to attend games in person?7: I've been being asked all week by people who have lost their job or been laid off, what they should do now? And I'm of the belief revenue-creating sales jobs will be in even higher demand than normal coming out of this and that people should get sales...
