On this week's episode of Coach2Scale, Host Matt Benelli sat down with senior leader Ollie Quittek, CRO and Founding Member at Viio.io. Ollie emphasizes how the notion of "impossible" is more of a mental barrier than an actual limit. He discusses his personal and professional growth, highlighting the importance of internalizing a mindset where challenges are viewed as opportunities. Matt and Ollie delve into the world of sales, discussing common myths and the realities of achieving goals against perceived limitations. They explore the concept of potential and the power of a united team's belief in overcoming obstacles. Ollie shares anecdotes from his experiences at Brandwatch and Falcon, illustrating how a culture centered around challenging the impossible can lead to extraordinary results.  Takeaways:Mindset and vulnerability are critical elements in leadership for creating a team that believes in its collective potential. Leaders can foster an environment where team members feel safe to share their thoughts, enhancing team coherence and performance.Ollie's move to Viio represents a decision to lead a startup in the burgeoning field of SaaS management and procurement. For leaders considering a similar journey, choose opportunities with significant growth potential that align with your passion and skill set.Ollie's leadership philosophy extends beyond achieving sales targets and numbers. It encompasses the development of a positive, affirming culture where team members are motivated to exceed expectations because they believe in the mission and feel valued. Leaders must remain open to learning and personal development, seeking opportunities for growth through coaching and mentorship. By continuously evolving, they can better guide their teams toward success.Innovation is good, but too much can be harmful. People often need repetition to truly understand and act on information, rather than overwhelming them with excess knowledge. Creating an inclusive environment where individuals feel a sense of belonging, where their humanity is acknowledged beyond their professional roles, and fostering a culture that embraces failure as a part of growth is essential. Quote of the Show:“There is always something else you can get done on top of what you think you can do.” - Ollie QuittekLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/oliver-quittek-6b31677/ Website: http://www.viio.io Ways to Tune In:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Yb1wPzUxyrfR0Dx35ym1A Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-build-a-coaching-culture/id1699901434 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy50cmFuc2lzdG9yLmZtL2NvYWNoMnNjYWxlLWhvdy1tb2Rlcm4tbGVhZGVycy1idWlsZC1hLWNvYWNoaW5nLWN1bHR1cmU Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/fd188af6-7c17-4b2e-a0b2-196ecd6fdf77 Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-5419703 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Coach2Scale CoachEm™ is the first Coaching Execution Platform that integrates deep learning technology to proactively analyze patterns, highlight the "why" behind the data with root causes, and identify the actions that will ultimately improve business results going forward.  These practical coaching recommendations for managers will help their teams drive more deals, bigger deals, faster deals and loyal customers. On Today's Show "There's these universal truths [...] specific details, but universal feelings and universal experiences that people hopefully can relate to. And that's what I go for in all of my books. Common humanity.” - Hena Khan Hena Khan didn't believe her perspective mattered. As a Pakistani-American Muslim, she grew up not seeing her or her family reflected in the media she was consuming. As any kid might do, she concluded that it was simply because her experience was not important, a realization that became clearer in hindsight. Recalling her childhood writing, she discovered she had unintentionally white-washed her own homemade family newspaper.Building confidence in her perspective was a gradual process, extending into adulthood. Initially lacking self-assurance, she began writing while toning down her cultural identity to conform to perceived publisher expectations. Over time, her confidence grew, and today, she is recognized for authentically portraying stories rooted in her culture and religion.Reflecting on her own reading experiences, Hena values shared human experiences that transcend cultural backgrounds. She aims to demonstrate that these relatable moments exist in stories featuring non-white characters and diverse cultures.Renowned for works such as "Amina's Voice," its sequel "Amina's Song," the "Zara's Rules" series, and "More to the Story," Hena Khan shares her journey of grappling with invisibility as a young reader and the evolution of her faith in herself and her unique perspective. Our guest on this week's episode is a wealth of knowledge on all facets of the hotel and hospitality industry. He's a leader who knows how to turn a hotel into something that is truly a destination. Joining the show this week is General Manager at the upcoming Regent Santa Monica Beach, Younes Atallah!Younes sits down with Dan Ryan to discuss his time in the industry, and the role of the General Manager. Younes shares his management strategies, the importance of exceptional programming, and why collaboration is a crucial skill for any member of your team.Takeaways:  Hospitality is an inherent concept of treating others with warmth and care, extending from our homes to the hotel industry. It comes from the heart and is about treating people as you would treat them in your house.  Continuous improvement is essential in any talent, whether it's sports, music, or acting. In the hospitality industry, teamwork and constant challenge are essential for improving the skills and talents of staff. Relationships and being a skilled generalist are crucial in the dynamic world of hotel management. The ability to manage teams, juggle priorities, and reintroduce brands requires constant dedication and expertise. Providing exceptional programming is crucial for hotels to exceed guest expectations and create memorable experiences. Comfortable accommodations are expected by guests, but it's the added features and activities that truly make a hotel stand out. Regularly engaging with people and observing their behavior by walking around is a valuable management practice. It offers opportunities to understand their desires and motivations, leading to impactful insights and positive outcomes. The pandemic has made it increasingly difficult to find good people and talent, especially in industries like hospitality. Management teams should look to foster internal talent, and help employees grow in ways that excites them. Growing up in a family that owned a travel agency, Younes experienced hospitality from an early age. The experience led to a deep connection with the hotel industry and a career pathway shaped by a memorable vacation. The ideal business is one where the needs of the employees are balanced perfectly with the goals of the business. One key to finding this balance is hospitality among employees. On today's episode of Defining Hospitality, Dan talks to an expert on working with your employees. Joining the show this week is Principal & Vice President at C+TC Design Studio, Billie ThorneBillie and Dan Billie sit down to dive into her experiences as a leader in the world of hospitality. Billie shares ways to best work with your employees, how to be hospitable to your coworkers, and the importance of carving out time for self care. Takeaways:  Hospitality is about kindness and finding where you are comfortable. Once you get settled in a good place, you can extend your hand to newer employees and help them learn and grow.  Building a team of professionals requires different forms of guidance and understanding. Some people need to be prompted to think about their goals and aspirations and others need a small push to a healthy space outside their comfort zone. Finding the right employees doesn't only mean looking at a resume, rather, it involves feedback from members of the team. Team members who enjoy each other's presence and can cooperate smoothly will be more willing to work together in person.  Individual employee goals have to work in coordination with functional business. There has to be a balance between allowing people to focus on personal goals and working to maintain the profit and productivity of the business. Work smarter not longer. Though long hours can be sometimes helpful for productivity, more often, you can achieve more on a regular day rather than working late, because as you reach the end of the day, fatigue slows your efficiency. It is important to be hospitable to both clients and coworkers, but often, hospitality toward coworkers is overlooked. However, it can be shown when one employee helps another reach a deadline without being asked.  In any industry, you may encounter problems that seem daunting. Cross-industry collaboration may prove useful to come up with unique solutions that aren't typically used in certain situations.  Quote of the Show:“There are some mistakes everybody needs to make for themselves to learn from them.” - Billie ThorneLinks: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/billie-thorne-5bbba211/  Company website: https://ctcdesignstudio.com/   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ctc_designstudio/  Shout Outs: 03:11 - HBA: https://www.hba.com/  36:29 - University Of Texas: https://www.utexas.edu/  36:54 - University Of Southern California: https://www.usc.edu/  Ways to Tune In:  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A2XOJvb6mGqEPYJ5bilPX Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/defining-hospitality-podcast/id1573596386 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZGVmaW5pbmdob3NwaXRhbGl0eS5saXZlL2ZlZWQueG1s Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c904932-90fa-41c3-813e-1cb8f3c42419

What does it take to go from full-time employment to becoming a Fractional CMO? Casey Stanton is the Founder of CMOx, a Fractional CMO, and author of the Wall Street Journal #1 bestseller, The Fractional CMO Method. This week, Casey discusses the risks associated with becoming a Fractional CMO and the amazing opportunities that make those risks worth taking.   Takeaways: The first thing to think about when becoming self-employed is your healthcare insurance. In the United States, an adequate plan to cover yourself and your family, not to mention potential employees is expensive. Top policies can start at $600 per person, per month. As a Fractional CMO, you can choose what contract lengths to sell to your clients. You'll start out with 3-month contracts, but as you gain notoriety and recognition, these can increase to 6 or 12-month contracts. This lessens how often you need new clients. Being a Fractional CMO is about more than just achieving the same level of income as your current job or even exceeding that. By building out your Fractional CMO practice, which is really a service-based business, you can build a company with equity. Understand that being an entrepreneur comes with struggles, however, you have control over how everything is done. While there are ups and downs, the ups greatly outweigh the downs.  Decide if you need autonomy in your career more than the safety of working for the same company for your career. Owning your own business as a Fractional CMO offers a limitless upside in terms of income, happiness, satisfaction, free time, and impact. Instead of pursuing low-profit, high-volume deals, you can prioritize landing a few high-value clients as a Fractional CMO. A small number of clients can generate a significant income. Aim to build long-term relationships with clients, renewing contracts and extending their contract duration over time. Consider specializing in a niche industry as a Fractional CMO. Look for industries where you can become the go-to expert. The early stages of these niches offer great opportunities for growth and establishing yourself as a marketing leader.   Quote of the Show: “There are so many niches in industries that are available for someone to step in and become the defacto number one Fractional CMO. If you're listening to this, you're still early.” - Casey Stanton   Links: Twitter: https://twitter.com/CaseyStanton LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/caseystanton/ CMOx Website: https://cmox.co/call  The Fractional CMO Method: https://cmox.co/book/   Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/039bc2d6-c1b5-4ced-ac2a-437e69546e7c/fractional-cmo-show Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fractional-cmo-show/id1592740671 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1HGwnjsXA4c4gYQvj4w53E?si=bd6e0908e25749ec Google Podcast: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mcmFjdGlvbmFsY21vLmxpYnN5bi5jb20vcnNz?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjlpNDTveb0AhUXEFkFHaZcDtYQ9sEGegQIARAC YouTube: https://youtu.be/OgwggGLcX4Y

She joins us today to discuss the three main causes of anxiety and how to gain better control of this pervasive emotion. With her upcoming book, Unpack Anxiety Impact, Noelle emphasizes the importance of recognizing the causes and solutions of anxiety to manage it effectively. She also discusses the increasing prevalence of anxiety among young people and the unique challenges faced by attorneys. Join us as we explore the ways that people create anxiety in their lives, and how to address them. Key Takeaways   Anxiety has become a major mental health issue, especially among young people, and was recently discussed at a professional conference. Understanding the three main causes of anxiety can help people gain better control over it. Anxiety is an emotion that is wired into our brain and nervous system to keep us alive and triggers us into fight, flight, or freeze mode. Unfortunately, our system is not able to differentiate between real and perceived danger, leading to anxiety even when there is no real danger. Lawyers have a natural tendency towards control, which can contribute to anxiety in their professional lives. Instead of simply telling people to do yoga or take walks to relieve anxiety, it's important to understand where the anxiety is coming from and how to deal with it effectively. Today's guest is an expert in conducting the symphony of insanity of what it takes to open a hotel. He's a hospitality leader in the Luxury, Full Service, Select Service, Branded, and Independent hotel spaces and is well-versed in the various needs and variables in all sectors. Scott Hammons is the President of Design and Construction of HEI. Scott joins the host Dan Ryan to share his journey through the hospitality industry and what it all means to him.   Takeaways:  The way the market is right now if a hotel is going to acquire that is because there is room to improve the hotel or reinvent it. This can happen when a branded hotel gets bought by another company or when it goes independent. First-party project management is a term that Scott has coined to describe his new company, Ground Floor Hospitality. It's a subsidiary of HEI but he refers to it as “first-party project management” because he oversees the whole project rather than someone he is not affiliated with. The hospitality industry is such a dynamic industry. It evokes so many different emotions and uses all 5 senses in order to create an unforgettable experience. Being in an entrepreneurial environment allows for more flexibility for new operations and provides room for growth in process improvements.   Scott is excited about the diverse opportunities in the hospitality industry. There are many different aspects of hospitality that you can branch into and each project is its own experience.  You want to find a space where when you go to work every day, it doesn't feel like a typical work day or feel draining. You want to work in a place where you find yourself being passionate about what you do.  If you are a mentor, you want to prepare your team leaders or other people in your company for a meeting they are about to walk into but still make them walk in the meeting. This will help them to prepare and feel more comfortable for what will happen during that time.    Quote of the Show: “There's no business like the hospitality business.” - Scott Hammons   Links: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scottkhammons/ Website: https://www.heihotels.com/   Shout Outs: 0:51 Aaron Anderson 1:35 Josh Pearlman 15:02 Mohawk Mountain House 17:40 Kimpton 17:47 Schrager 19:35 Marriot 29:19 Mark Wilson 29:20 Yoko Ishihara 33:05 Clark Henrati 49:51 Christopher Nassetta 51:42 Avengers Infinity War   Ways to Tune In:  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A2XOJvb6mGqEPYJ5bilPX Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/defining-hospitality-podcast/id1573596386 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZGVmaW5pbmdob3NwaXRhbGl0eS5saXZlL2ZlZWQueG1s Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c904932-90fa-41c3-813e-1cb8f3c42419 Podbean: https://www.defininghospitality.live/ YouTube: https://youtu.be/rnnG9aI3BY0

Everyone loves a free sample, but did you know that you can use the power of Amazon to get samples of your product into consumers' hands? John Willkom is an omni-commerce expert, the Senior Vice President & Head of Ecommerce at The Mars Agency, and the author of the Amazon best-selling basketball book, Walk-On Warrior. John explains his unique approach to building brand awareness on Amazon, what's on the cutting edge of ecommerce, and which two metrics you need to stay on top of to grow on Amazon. Takeaways: Amazon uses a company called Send Me A Sample so that consumers can ask Alexa devices to send them a sample of a certain product and Amazon will ship it to them automatically. This is a great way to get your product out there and get feedback in.Using digital sampling through Amazon, you can replace the traditional, in-store demos with something that converts better, creates massive brand awareness, and doesn't require a huge budget. Send Me A Sample operates as a fulfillment service and they are where you send your sample inventory. Amazon's role is just to feature the currently available samples on a webpage and when asked about samples through Alexa.A great way to get the most from your sample campaign is to simultaneously run digital ad campaigns that entice consumers to order the free samples. You will see more accurate results with a larger sample size of people trying your product out.The potential of voice is just beginning to come into view and it offers perhaps the most frictionless buying experience available. You'll never find one solution that will generate tons of orders in perpetuity. You need to have a test-and-learn mentality to find what works for your product and speaks to your customers, and when this changes over time, you need to keep testing.Amazon is currently beta-testing a new tool in Seller Central called Search Query Performance which allows brands to see the total number of impressions, clicks, add-to carts, and purchases for the brand.Quote of the Show:“There's no reason why voice isn't going to usher in the future of TV shopping” - John WillkomLinks:LinkedInTwitterAmazon Book LinkCompany websiteWays to Tune In:Apple Podcast (Leave a Review)iHeart RadioPodchaser (Leave a Review)Amazon MusicAudibleSpotifyGoogle PodcastYouTubeAmazon Legends is sponsored by Argometrix, the authority on, and leading supplier of, competitive intelligence for online retail. Melissa Shanahan is the Founder of Velocity Work and the host of The Law Firm Owner Podcast. Melissa joins host Molly McGrath to talk about how to build high cycle results for your law firm.   Takeaways:  There are many law firm owners out there that are ready to take on clients and work but they need guidance on how to run their business. It's important to have accountability when it comes to running your law firm. You have to take ownership of your business. Most law firm owners are looking for a way to feel organized and feel more in control of the things that are happening around them. You don't need to be hyper-focused on a certain issue. Hold yourself accountable and bring in others to help you solve the issue. Fun team-building activities shouldn't replace serious planning for the next quarter. You can still have fun but the serious work needs to be done. Your business is either in a low result cycle or a high result cycle. You can't be in the middle.  There are three parts to success; know what you are aiming for, make a well-thought-out deliberate plan, and you have to honor your plan. There are so many smaller Amazon sellers out there that aren't living up to the great potential they have. However, Ruben Alikhanyan, the founder of PAS Agency, is helping those sellers find success and build the value of their brand. You'll learn all about what you need to have when creating an Amazon brand, how to properly use the Amazon Brand Registry, and what is holding your conversion rates back.Takeaways: Having the right creative content in place when you are initially building a brand on Amazon strengthens the conversion which makes the growth much faster. Some of the best categories for underperforming brands to find success in include kitchen appliances, kitchen, accessories, toys, and sports. An Amazon brand's story plays a valuable role in both selling to customers as well as the valuation that the brand would receive from aggregators. If you aren't looking at it strategically, you won't find success on Amazon. Amazon wants sellers to create brands that will have longevity and will flourish. If you have identified the right keywords and still have a low conversion rate, the problem lies within your Product Details Page (PDP). On the PDP, if your SEO is strong and it's being indexed, look to your graphics as the cause of the low conversion rate.Having a recent set of data from your Amazon brand is not enough. You need other, older sets of data to give you perspective on things like conversion rates, CTR, etc.The main reason that conversion is so important is that it impacts your bottom line, your top line, and how the Amazon algorithm treats your listing. Quote of the Show:“There has to be planning, strategy behind what your logo is. “In the valley of misunderstanding, there is always One who understands you.”  In this episode, popular author, speaker, podcaster, and literary agent, Mary DeMuth shares from her latest book, The Most Misunderstood Women of the Bible: What their Stories Teach Us About Thriving. Most of us know what it's like to be misunderstood, or have gone through seasons of being misheard, or even misrepresented by people we know and the ones we don't. Mary went through her own trial of misunderstanding, which was the inspiration for finding hope in the stories of women from the bible. These stories compel us to move out of the valley of misunderstanding, and into the hands of the One who understands us perfectly. You won't want to miss this one! Important Takeaways from Show There is hope and a positive way forward for those walking in the valley of misunderstanding. Instead of focusing on Eve's worst mistake, we can learn from her example of confession and honesty. Rahab, although known as a harlot, was an example to all of us as a woman of great faithfulness. Labels can be attached to us through other people, or from our very own thoughts of ourselves. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead us in the trial of misunderstanding; knowing when to move and when to be still. In the removal of approval, we come to a deeper understanding of the approval of God. Confide in a friend or loved one for accountability and support during seasons of misunderstanding. God is a God who sees us and strengthens us to pray for the ones who have hurt us. “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.” Psalm 139:1 If you make yourselves of no reputation, you have nothing to build and nothing to defend. Our reputation is in the Lord's hands. Philippians 2:6-7 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:1-2 Jesus has intersected our lives so we can help others with the same struggles and hurts. God redeems and chooses us to be kingdom builders on earth. The Lord uses all people with different gifts and abilities; in the seen and unseen God has a plan for you in your ministry. “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”   ~Colossians 3:1-2 Links from Show Mary's Podcast: Pray Every Day Mary's Book: The Most Misunderstood Women of the Bible: What Their Stories Teach Us About Thriving [Disclosure: I make a small commission from affiliate links used in this post.]   Connect with Mary DeMuth Website |Instagram | Twitter | Facebook Connect with Joanna  Facebook | Pinterest | Instagram | Twitter Subscribe & Get a Bible Reading Journal!
