On today's episode of Hot Takes, Eric and Troy discuss Russell Wilson declining the Jets offer to be their backup quarterback and taking a job at CBS Sports instead. Is Wilson retiring for good or will he pull a Philip Rivers and return at some point? Will he be a good TV analyst? Is Wilson a sure-fire Hall of Famer? Or a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Famer? Plus, a look at the two blockbuster trades in the NFL yesterday that saw Myles Garrett get dealt to the Rams and A.J. Brown heading to the Patriots to play for his old coach, Mike Vrabel. PSA's decision to pause several grading service levels continues to send shockwaves through the hobby. But is PSA really the problem? Jeremy Lee, David Chase, and Leighton Sheldon explore the impact of PSA's latest move on collectors, dealers, auction companies, and the broader marketplace. The discussion quickly evolves into a larger debate about dependency, entitlement, business risk, and whether the hobby has become too reliant on a single company. Who is affected the most? What happens next? And is this really PSA's fault at all? Expect strong opinions, uncomfortable questions, and a conversation that challenges some commonly held assumptions about grading and the modern hobby. Bobby brings a hot take to the table that immediately gets Eddie fired up, with the guys going back and forth over whether Wemby is really as good as everyone says he is. Then Dan Woike joins the show to talk about why the Knicks might actually have a real shot to win the NBA Finals and what has to go right for them to pull it off. Plus, the guys get into Texas Tech softball and why the program has turned into the Death Star of the sport. It’s a mix of loud opinions, playoff hope, and a reminder that Texas Tech softball is the villain everyone wants to be. Eric Goodman and Troy Renck begin the week by recapping the Spurs Game 7 win over the Thunder and look ahead to the NBA Finals matchup between San Antonio and New York. Are the Spurs beginning the start of a dynasty with all of their great, young players? Has the Victor Wembanyama era arrived in full-force? Is it better for the NBA if the next big star – Wemby – wins a championship or if a big market like New York wins? Will Nikola Jokic finish with just one NBA Title? Plus, Shedeur Sanders shattered Tom Brady's NFLPA licensing record with a massive merchandise-driven payout. Does his career have a chance to take off this year in Cleveland? We're so glad you're listening to our podcast! This sermon is based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18. It's the first sermon in our "Hot Takes on Scripture's Hottest Topics" sermon series and focuses on the doctrine of the "rapture." It's a challenging topic, but the concept of the rapture, as it's popularly understood, has not been around that long in Christian history, and doesn't have a strong biblical basis. We're glad you're listening in as Rev. Dr. Art Wright unpacks some of the history and theology of this "hot topic"! Hope it is a helpful and meaningful word to you this week.To find out more about the sermon series you can visit: https://www.williamsburgbaptist.com/summer2026.html.To find out more about our church, you can head on over to www.williamsburgbaptist.com. Without the guardrails of science to fall back on, the boys trade evidence-based analysis for deliberately provocative, sensational, and often ridiculous hot takes about the world of rock ‘n roll.
Matt Shableman is joined by Alan, the Pole with the Goal, the Sax in the Section, Królikowski, special guest Nick Poteres of Glass House Soccer and Matt's very own groomsman and guiding light, Eray, to talk about a soccer club that is not playing competitive soccer right now. But that doesn't stop the guys from dreaming up a scheme to grab a Championship in 2026. Maybe Ted Lasso was onto something when he told us, "It's the hope that will kill ya," but I'm writing this and am on team cup in '26! This month, we asked you all to vote on if Barroso should go-so, if Franco's new ACL will be as good as his last ACL, and which Fire superstar will win when Brian Gutiérrez and Mexico take on Mbekezeli Mbokazi and South Africa at the World Cup. John, host of The Bonfire, isn't given the chance to defend himself or the quality of folk hero Johnny Dean in the wake of the Fire's growing stature. Sorry John. The Golden Arches are finally coming to Chicago (strictly in terms of stadium naming rights), something that the World Cup could never do. Recorded LIVE on May 27, 2026.

On today's episode of Hot Takes, Eric and Troy discuss the Broncos, Nuggets and Avalanche going 0-for-3 on titles this year. So now, which of the three teams has the best chance of winning a championship? What should the Avs do at head coach? Should they pursue former Vegas head coach, Bruce Cassidy? If neither the Nuggets or Avalanche win another title—with each having just one—which franchise would be considered the biggest disappointment? Plus, who is the most underappreciated Broncos player? Multidisciplinary musician and video game composer Floor Baba was the focus of "Hot Takes" episode 100! After a prolonged period of not having Quiz on the show as co-host, we finally got him back and with a terrific pull too! Known for their work on the soundtracks for Pac Man: Snack Break and Egg Squeeze, their affiliation with the Pluswav Cooperative, and their wonky, futuristic take on vapor-adjacent experimental electronic music; two hours was seemingly only enough to scratch the surface of Jesse's experience, as we heard their history and fielded questions from the live chat as well. We conversed about 90's and 2000's Christian music and what it's like to compose soundtracks for video games. A lot of talk about how much cratedigging transpires daily and how Floor Baba likes to listen to music took place. Other topics that came up in conversation include the stories behind some of Jesse's album artwork, the psychological horror of playing Egg Squeeze, their favorite composers, starting a label, and their favorite N64 OST's. The memorable moments we got to spend with Floor Baba that night cannot be quantified, so what are you waiting for? Hit play! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Send us Fan MailTwo weeks ago, one of the most powerful women on Wall Street asked us to weigh in on Belle Burden's bombshell memoir: "Strangers". As two women who've lived and worked in every world this book touches — from raising three kids in New York City to working on Wall Street to growing up in Massachusetts and spending summers on Martha's Vineyard — we're uniquely positioned to read between the lines of a story that's been everywhere from Oprah to every video in your feed.In this episode, we break down the full financial picture most coverage glosses over: the prenup that may have been the original sin of the marriage, the real numbers behind a Davis Polk associate's salary vs. a fund-of-funds partner's take, how much Belle's husband likely earned at Arden and Select Equity, the math on a $4M Tribeca apartment and a $5.4M Martha's Vineyard estate, and why "running up quicksand" is the only way to describe trying to build wealth on a W-2 in Manhattan if you don't have a wife who's heiress to a Vanderbilt fortune. We also dig into the power dynamics — the resentment baked into the prenup negotiation, the "make me a sandwich" moment, the affair with a sell-side banker, and why the cheating partner in these stories is almost never really about the other person. But here's where their take diverges sharply from Belle's own messaging: the real lesson isn't "know your finances" — it's something much harder. We argue that no amount of financial literacy would have changed Belle's story.Shop our Self Paced Courses:Investment Banking & Private Equity Fundamentals HEREFixed Income Sales & Trading HERESubscribe to our Substack: https://substack.com/@thewallstreetskinny
After taking a much needed week off the Coaches' Panel of Nickie Sanlin of McKendree, Jay Hosack of George Mason, Brad Rosstratter of UC San Diego, Theo Edwards of CSUN and Dan Friend of Lewis (for a brief moment) jump into this mega-closeout episode to talk about the NCAA Championship match crowing the University of Hawaii as the 2026 National Champions. Along with that a lot of news of top names turning pro before the completion of their collegiate careers as well as athletes changing teams. With that, we move into the effects of "The Portal." As always, we end with a fan favorite, "Jay's Hot Takes!" NOTE: A special thank you to all of you who have followed the podcast during the 2026 NCAA Men's Volleyball season.
