In Episode 112 of White Canes Connect, hosts Lisa Bryant and David Goldstein welcome Bailey Bostelman, Regional Field Director for the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB). The episode highlights the upcoming VisionWalk in Philadelphia on October 5th, where Lisa will be participating. Bailey shares insights into the mission of FFB, which has raised over $915 million to fund research for inherited retinal diseases like retinitis pigmentosa and Stargardt disease. She emphasizes the importance of community education, connecting those with low vision to resources, and the organization's no-cost genetic testing program. This initiative helps individuals with inherited retinal diseases better understand their diagnosis and access potential treatments. Bailey also discusses FFB's VisionWalk, which began in 2006 and has since raised over $64 million. The Philadelphia walk, part of FFB's annual fundraiser, aims to raise $150,000 to support research and public health education. The episode also highlights FFB's professional outreach to medical professionals to bridge the gap between diagnosis and available resources. Former Coordinator and Regional Field Director for The John Birch Society, Bliss Tew, now serving as Assistant Chair for the Utah Support Your Local Police Committee, discusses the threat to local police posed by Civilian Review Boards. He pointed to the proposed amendment to current Utah Law put forth in House Bill 74 https://le.utah.gov/~2021/bills/stati... in the Legislature, which would allow cities to create independent police review boards over the authority of local Police Chiefs with regard to policy and personnel. He notes how the Communist have pushed civilian review boards for generations as a tactic to break down law and order in order to bring about a dictatorship to restore order. Also he points out that Patrice Cullors of Black Lives Matter has admitted publicly that she is a trained Marxist. Not surprisingly, people associated with BLM and other similar organizations are pushing for civilian review boards. He recommends contacting state legislators immediately to oppose HB 74, even testifying in committee if able. https://jbs.org/alert/stop-utah-polic... He discusses the negative effects on police morale, public safety, and police effectiveness when civilian review boards are in place. https://thenewamerican.com/print/poli... Nurses bear witnesses to the dire consequences on their patients every day. They see patients rationing their prescriptions or putting off important medical procedures because of cost. They see patients dealing with the devastating burden of choosing between their rent or groceries and their healthcare. Nurses are committed to this fight because they know firsthand that Medicare for All will bring many of their patients enormous relief. For some of their patients, the passage of Medicare for All will be the difference between life and death.CONTACT RILEY ABOUT KED/MEDICARE FOR ALL CAMPAIGN:Click here to go to their helpful guide!riley@bigorganizing.com ***** PODCATS LEVELS OF ACTION*****ONE CLICK WONDER - Join the text banking team!
