[SEGMENT 1-1] Democracy WAS on the ballot 1 I read an article where the author claimed that Democrats screed about "democracy is on the ballot" fell short. I disagreed. Democracy was indeed on the ballot in 2024, just not in the way Democrats intended. Democrats plastered the phrase across ads, speeches, and campaign rallies. But their actions told a very different story. As Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) insisted they were the stewards of democratic ideals, they sabotaged their own processes. They silenced dissenters, and manipulated election mechanisms in ways that left even their own base skeptical. Ironically, this made their loss to Donald Trump not only inevitable, but richly poetic. Democracy by Any Means Necessary? The Democrats' rallying cry of “saving democracy” was undermined from the start. Shielding Joe Biden from primary challengers was their first move, a tactic that looked more like damage control than democratic engagement. Prominent figures like Representative Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) and Marianne Williamson openly criticized this strategy. They sounded the alarm, warning that Biden's isolation from scrutiny would backfire. The DNC then doubled down by canceling the Florida primary outright and attempting similar maneuvers in Wisconsin, only to be blocked by the courts. When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dared to challenge the Democratic establishment, they deployed an entire “war room” to discredit him. Ultimately, they not only pushed him out of the race as a Democrat, but they push him out of the party altogether. Meanwhile, Harris—who dropped out of the 2020 race without earning a single vote—was anointed as the party's new figurehead once Biden became too much of a liability. Their so-called defense of democracy had all the hallmarks of a monarchy, minus the pageantry. Democracy for Us, Not for You It wasn't just presidential politics where the Democrats' hypocrisy shone. In multiple states, they fought tooth and nail against ballot measures aimed at expanding voter participation. Reforms in Arizona, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Nevada, and South Dakota sought to give independent voters a voice in primary elections. But the Democrats actively campaigned against these reforms. The message was clear: democracy is fine as long as it serves our interests.  [SEGMENT 1-2] Democracy WAS on the ballot 2   [X] SB – Katt Williams on CNN being wrong This isn't a new phenomenon. For years, the DNC has resisted primary election reform, even in states where it could strengthen democratic processes. In places like California and Washington, where voters implemented open primaries, the party has lobbied to return to exclusionary systems. The irony? The party that brands itself as the champion of democracy consistently works to suppress it when it threatens their grip on power. The 14th Amendment Fiasco As the general election approached, Democrats took their anti-democratic antics to new heights. In states like Colorado and Michigan, they pursued legal battles to bar Trump from the ballot, citing the 14th Amendment's clause against aiding an “insurrection.” It was a novel—and transparently desperate—interpretation of constitutional law. Voters saw it for what it was: a last-ditch attempt to win by disqualification rather than persuasion. This legal gambit didn't just fail; it galvanized the Trump base and alienated moderate voters. Americans may have disagreements about Trump, but they overwhelmingly rejected the notion that the electoral process should be circumvented to deny voters their choice. When Hypocrisy Meets Reality Democracy wasn't just on the ballot—it was the ballot. And voters delivered a resounding verdict: they want leadership that respects the process, not a party that manipulates it. While Democrats lamented their loss, leaders like Nancy Pelosi now bemoan the very lack of openness they orchestrated. It's a convenient pivot, but one that smacks of opportunism, rather than genuine reflection. The broader issue here isn't just that the Democratic Party lost—it's that they lost credibility. For years, they've positioned themselves as defenders of democracy while engaging in the very behaviors they accuse Republicans of: voter suppression, exclusionary tactics, and backroom deals. This hypocrisy has finally caught up with them, and voters are no longer buying what they're selling. A Lesson in True Democracy Americans care deeply about democracy, despite what pundits might suggest. But they won't be lectured by a party that cancels primaries, silences challengers, and manipulates election systems. In 2024, voters made it clear that they're tired of being told what democracy looks like by Leftist demons who have no intent of practicing it. As Democrats process their historic loss, they have a choice to make. They can continue down the path of hypocrisy, or they can take a hard look at their own undemocratic tendencies and work to rebuild trust. Either way, democracy has spoken—and it's Trump who emerged as its unlikely standard-bearer.  [SEGMENT 1-3] Democracy WAS on the ballot 3   [X] SB – Scott Jennings asked by Blitzer why Harris lost No one to blame but themselves. We speak with secular political activist Sarah Levin about the evolving landscape for secular voters within the Democratic Party, the implications of interfaith coalitions, and the role of non-religious constituents in upcoming elections. We also explore Sarah's substantial activism, including her role as founder of Secular Strategies and her efforts to establish secular representation within the Democratic National Committee (DNC). She emphasizes the significant strides made since her last appearance, particularly the inclusion of non-religious voices in the DNC's interfaith efforts and the official endorsement of the principle of separation of church and state in the party's platform for the first time. Doug and Sarah also discuss the challenges that still exist, including the perception issues surrounding secular candidates among both voters and the party apparatus.Sarah reflects on the importance of building a political identity that resonates with both non-religious voters and religious individuals, stressing the necessity of intersectionality in politics. We also focus on voter engagement and the upcoming elections.A critical segment of the conversation addresses the complex U.S. relationship with Israel amidst the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Sarah articulates her belief that while the U.S. has historically provided unquestioned support to Israel, this is a moment for reevaluation—especially in light of the potential ramifications of a Trump administration, which promises more extreme measures than current policies. Finally we encourage listeners to actively participate in the political process, follow updates on secular candidates, and engage in conversations that amplify the non-religious voice. With Sarah Levin's groundwork laying the foundation for future progress, this episode serves as a clarion call to recognize both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for secular individuals in politics.Full Show Notes & LinksSend us a textSupport the showSubscribe to our free newsletterCheck out our MerchFind us on Twitter(for now) Find us on InstagramFind us on Counter SocialFind us on Mastadon

John Mcafee predicted before his death all has come true shocking predictions about the future of the United States, including the forced resignation of President Joe Biden due to medical reasons in September. The Democratic National Committee (DNC), through a little-known legal loophole, will be able to bypass national voting and directly choose Biden's replacement. This revelation sends ripples through political circles, adding fuel to the ongoing debate about the existence and power of the "Deep State." The Deep State refers to career employees in U.S. government agencies, such as the CIA, IRS, and FCC, who allegedly control policy behind the scenes, immune to firing by elected officials. These unelected entities are said to enact regulations that have a far greater impact on American lives than laws passed by Congress. The reality is that while the public remains largely unaware of the Deep State's operations, it controls significant aspects of American foreign and domestic policy. Is this conspiracy or reality? As the power dynamics in Washington shift, with increasing control in the hands of unelected figures, Americans are left questioning: who truly governs the country?

Project 2025, a significant point of contention in contemporary American politics, has faced fierce denouncement from the Democratic National Committee (DNC). To ridicule this initiative and its prominent proponents, including Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, the DNC executed a high-profile publicity stunt by flying a banner over a football game in Michigan. This act of mockery is part of a broader strategy by the DNC to undermine the credibility and goals of Project 2025.The DNC's campaign against Project 2025 goes beyond aerial messages. They have invested in an extensive media blitz, launching hundreds of advertisements that criticize the initiative. Further intensifying their efforts, the DNC has printed the project documents in an oversized book format, using it as a prop at conventions to highlight and deride its content and implications. The Democrats' relentless focus on Project 2025 showcases the significant political stakes attached to the initiative. By continuously referencing it across various platforms and formats, the DNC aims to keep the criticisms of Project 2025 in the public eye, shaping the narrative around the program and those associated with it.

In a press release, the DNC noted that the platform had been passed on July 16, prior to President Joe Biden's exit from the presidential race, but that the document “makes a strong statement about the historic work that President Biden and Vice President Harris have accomplished hand-in-hand.” The platform, however, was not updated to reflect that Biden is no longer the nominee, frequently referring to the president's plans for a second term. You can read today's podcast here, our “Under the Radar” story here and today's “Have a nice day” story here. You can watch the entire Tangle Live event at City Winery NYC on our YouTube Channel!Check out Episode 5 of our podcast series, The Undecideds. In the latest episode of "The Capitalist Investor," hosts Luke Lloyd (Cool Hand Luke) and Derek (Diamond Hands D) dive into some of the most pressing issues in the current economic landscape. With Tony out on assignment, it was an engaging and insightful dialogue between the two hosts covering a multitude of topics that could significantly impact the financial markets and everyday investors. Unrealized Capital Gains Tax at 25%One of the most contentious issues discussed was the proposal by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to impose a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains. This concept means that investors would be taxed on the potential profit of their investments even if they haven't sold them yet. For example, if you buy a house for $250,000 and its market value rises to $500,000, you would owe taxes on the $250,000 "unrealized" gain. Luke and Derek argue that this would disincentivize investments and could signal the end of capitalism as we know it.Corporate Tax Increase to 28%Another hot topic was the proposal to raise corporate taxes from the current 21% to 28%, a 33% increase. The hosts pointed out that such an increase would likely be passed on to consumers, resulting in higher prices and increased inflation. This policy could stifle economic growth at a time when it may be sorely needed to combat a potential recession.Price Controls on FoodPrice controls on food were another contentious issue brought up during the episode. The hosts vehemently opposed this idea, suggesting that it could lead to supply shortages and inefficiencies in the market. Derek and Luke argue that government price controls could disrupt the natural balance of supply and demand, potentially causing even more severe problems like food shortages.Top Capital Gains Bracket to 44.6%The episode also discussed the idea of raising the top capital gains tax bracket to 44.6% from the current 39%. This significant increase would affect high-income earners and long-term investors. Luke and Derek believe that such a tax hike would deter people from making long-term investments, ultimately hurting the economy.Economic and Political CyclesTowards the end of the episode, the hosts touched on the concept of economic cycles and human behavior, citing Ray Dalio's book "The Changing World Order." They discussed how economic policies often lead to wealth disparities, which can generate public discontent and extreme political actions. The hosts suggest that recognizing these cycles can help investors better understand and navigate the unpredictable political landscape. This episode of "Capitalist Investor" provided a thorough analysis of several pivotal economic policies that could drastically shape the future of both individual investors and the broader economy. From taxing unrealized capital gains to implementing price controls on food, the episode was a critical examination of potential policy impacts. As always, the hosts encouraged listeners to stay informed and consult with financial professionals to navigate these turbulent times.Tune in next time for more in-depth discussions and insights on The Capitalist Investor!

The political stage is abuzz after recent revelations concerning the infamous Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who, in an unexpected turn of events, unveiled the identity of his vice-presidential candidate. This surprise move has set the wheels of consternation in motion within the Democratic camp, prompting an intense backlash from party members. This iconic figure, whose surname is interwoven with Democratic history and legacy, boldly claimed his independence, veering from the party platform, and choosing Nicole Shanahan, an accomplished lawyer and technology business pioneer, as his running-mate. This unexpected announcement has not been received well by party members, with many in the Democratic side escalating their assaults on his candidacy. Kennedy's decision has led to considerable disarray within the party; party members fearing the worst—insiders remark that this is their 'worst nightmare come true'. The uproar is palpable to all who are witnessing it—a notable departure from the regal silence often associated with such matters. Matt Keelen, a key figure in the political strategy landscape and principal of The Vogel Group, chimes in on Kennedy's transformation from a respected figure within the Democratic family tree to an object of scorn from the very party his family name helped build. Keelen's comments seem to depict an Affection for Kennedy's audacious departure, remarking on how ironic it is that this esteemed Democrat offspring was practically ousted from the very party that has drawn heavily from the Kennedy legacy. In less than a fortnight since Kennedy stepped into the limelight of presidential candidacy, unveiling Shanahan as his VP, he became a favored target for criticism from a party he once revered. This announcement also led to an urgent conference call hosted by the Democratic National Committee (DNC). It became apparent to wide-eyed observers that a state of trepidation had engulfed the party's leadership. Austin Davis, the Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania, was amongst those rallying the troops. His words on the call were an unmistakable proclamation of unwanted disruption from Kennedy: 'He's a spoiler', Davis said, detailing the concerted efforts of the party towards re-election of Biden and Harris.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and His Left-Leaning VP Pick A New Course or Old Path

Real News Now Podcast

Robert F. Kennedy Jr's speculated vice presidential pick, Nicole Shanahan exhibits a tendency towards left-leaning ideologies, particularly, her notable support for 'criminal justice' initiatives. This is a surprising turn as Kennedy Jr. staunchly showcased a newfound political independence this past October, parting ways with his previous affiliation - the Democratic Party. He announced, 'It's time I charted my independent course, away from the Democrats and indeed, all political factions.' Despite this declaration, Shanahan's record places her firmly within the Democrat camp, with multiple contributions towards Joe Biden and the Democratic Party. Kennedy Jr. has significantly distanced himself from the Democratic Party, seeking to cultivate an independent presence in the political realm. However, his veep choice, Shanahan, does not display a similar political middleground. Her historical affinities lean towards Democrats, with ample financial support for Joe Biden, reaching into the thousands. Drawing from a report by the New York Times, Shanahan, once married to Google's co-founder Sergey Brin, bears a long history of bankrolling Democratic campaigns. This included President Biden's 2020 race when she offered substantial donations. Interestingly, she also backed Kennedy Jr.'s presidency campaign in May 2023 when he still identified as a Democrat. Additional details reveal that Shanahan provided considerable contributions towards the Biden campaign in 2020, a hefty sum of $30,000, as indicated by Federal Election Commission (FEC) data. Moreover, she has made recurring donations to ActBlue, the Democratic fundraising entity, and even the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Beyond this, Shanahan has actively participated in influencing political decisions regarding 'criminal justice.' In an interview with San Francisco Magazine in 2021, she proudly referred to herself as a significant funding contributor for 'Measure J' in Los Angeles County. The said 'Measure J' involves changes to the local charter. It stipulates that no less than 10% of locally created unrestricted income must be re-invested in community development and alternate solutions to incarceration. The measure also prohibits the misappropriation of these funds towards carceral systems and law enforcement agencies. In that same 2021 San Francisco Magazine interview, Shanahan put forth her perspective on the George Floyd incident. She proposed that the presence of a mental health professional at the scene could have potentially altered the course of the tragic event. According to the magazine, Shanahan's commitment to transformative justice predates the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement. Shanahan shared, 'About five years ago, I suggested to the head of Sergey's foundation that 'criminal justice reform' was poised to be one of the defining issues of our generation. I am proud to have contributed significantly to 'Measure J' in Los Angeles County, rerouting some of the law enforcement budget towards mental and social support services.' Expanding upon her thoughts, Shanahan argued that the arrival of a mental health professional during George Floyd's arrest could have defused the tension, maybe even saving his life. These sentiments reflect Shanahan's deep-rooted belief in transforming the criminal justice system. Moreover, Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, highlighted an additional aspect of Shanahan's political inclinations. According to him, Shanahan is a substantial donor to George Gascon, the prosecutor reputed for his pro-crime stance and backed by Soros. Gascon achieved notoriety for his role in upsetting the San Francisco status quo and is currently viewed as detrimental to Los Angeles. Concluding his assessment, Kirk labelled Shanahan's selection as a clear left-leaning tactic by Kennedy Jr., aimed at consolidating his progressive credentials. He noted this move could potentially alienate common-sense independents and centrist voters, who are wary of escalating crime rates yet intrigued by Kennedy Jr.'s campaign. Kirk further explained his concern: 'Kennedy Jr.'s VP pick, Nicole Shanahan, has financially backed George Gascon, the pro-crime, Soros-backed prosecutor whose tenure has led to negative consequences for San Francisco and is currently disturbing the peace in LA.' He also acknowledged her support for 'Measure J,' a Los Angeles initiative that rerouted spending from law enforcement, a detail that further corroborates Shanahan's alignment with left-leaning ideologies. Her involvement with these initiatives signals her political persuasion. The dynamics of Kennedy Jr.'s political campaign continue to evolve with Nicole Shanahan's potential inclusion as his vice-presidential pick. Though he aims to redefine himself as an independent candidate, his choice in Shanahan, with her well-documented support for Democratic causes, blurs this self-professed independence. The objective now lies in whether this would impact Kennedy Jr.'s campaign, especially in terms of attracting centrist voters and those with a practical approach to crime prevention. Only time will tell if this mixture of independence and distinct left-leaning sympathies can strike a favorable chord with the electorate. Taylor, superintendent of schools for the South Orange-Maplewood School District, sent a letter to parents announcing that no Halloween celebrations would be held by the school district, claiming that doing so may ‘violate the dignity of some of our students and families, either culturally or religiously.' The cancellation of the holiday was bashed by the governor.” And on Thursday, Governor Murphy vetoed a bill that would have increased tolls across New Jersey—is he nervous Republicans could take back the state's legislative branch in the next election? You can read Knox's full article here: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/education/new-jersey-murphy-slams-school-canceling-halloween 3:15pm- On Tuesday, Joe Biden's campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez confirmed that the president will not appear on New Hampshire's 2024 Democrat primary ballot, following the Democratic National Committee (DNC) decision to place South Carolina first in the primary cycle. New Hampshire, which has traditionally been the party's first primary, has vowed to defy the DNC and hold their vote prior to South Carolina. 3:30pm- During Thursday's White House press briefing, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby was asked to clarify President Joe Biden's comments about civilian casualties potentially being an unfortunate side-effect of Israel's quest to eradicate Hamas. In response, Kirby slammed Hamas for their routine violation of human rights and barbaric actions, explaining that Israel has a right to defend itself. 3:40pm- According to David Wildstein of The New Jersey Globe: “Dr. Henrilynn Ibezim has been charged with telling campaign workers to complete hundreds of fake voter registration applications and mail them to election officials in Union County and allegedly bringing a large white garbage bag stuffed with almost 954 voter registration forms to the post office.” You can read the full article here: https://newjerseyglobe.com/local/ex-plainfield-mayoral-candidate-charged-with-mailing-nearly-1000-bogus-voter-registration-forms/ 4:05pm- George Bochetto—former candidate for U.S. Senate, former Pennsylvania State Boxing Commissioner, and Attorney at Bochetto & Lentz, P.C.—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to reprimand Matt for drinking Coca-Cola while visiting Italy, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court race, and Common Pleas Court Judge Lillian Ransom reinstating all charges against former Philadelphia police officer Mark Dial. 4:30pm- During a Thursday press briefing, Defense Department Spokesperson Brigadier General Pat Ryder confirmed that 900 U.S. troops have been deployed to the Middle East. 4:45pm- Dr. Steve H. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building just prior to the House holding its vote on a stopgap spending measure to avoid a government shutdown. Although Rep. Bowman has claimed he pulled the alarm in error, some have speculated that it was a tactic to delay the House vote—providing Democrat members of the House additional time to read through the Republican proposed legislation. On Thursday, Bowman pleaded guilty to falsely pulling the fire alarm at a congressional office building—a misdemeanor. He will have to pay a $1,000 fine, serve a three-month probation, and write a letter of apology. 5:20pm- Brooke Singman of Fox News reports: “The FBI maintained more than 40 confidential human sources on various criminal matters related to the Biden family, including Joe Biden, dating back to his time as vice president, according to information obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley…Grassley learned that an FBI task force within the Washington Field Office sought to, and in some cases, successfully, shut down reporting and information from those sources by falsely discrediting the information as foreign disinformation. That effort ‘caused investigative activity to cease.'” You can read the full report here: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fbi-received-criminal-information-40-confidential-sources-joe-biden-hunter-jim-grassley 5:30pm- Perhaps unsurprisingly, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are both advocating for packaging Ukrainian aid and Israeli aid together in the same spending bill. 5:50pm- Maddie Hanna of The Philadelphia Inquirer writes, “The Pennridge School District has adopted a policy specifying that sports teams are divided by sex, barring transgender students from participating on teams aligned with their gender identities. The policy, passed unanimously by the school board Tuesday, follows a move by the district earlier this year requiring that students use group bathrooms based on sex, rather than gender identity.” You can read Hanna's full article here: https://www.inquirer.com/education/pennridge-athletics-policy-sex-transgender-20231025.html 5:55pm- Matt defends his decision to forgo wine and instead drink Coca-Cola with pizza while in Italy. Despite initial suppression, the narrative has been widely accepted as the most likely cause of the virus. 6:40pm- On Wednesday, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) became the 56th Speaker of the House of Representatives with a 220 to 209 floor vote—ending three-weeks of Republican infighting with unanimous support for his candidacy. In his first speech as Speaker from the House floor, Johnson vowed to “ensure that our republic remains standing as the great beacon of hope, light, and freedom in a world that desperately needs it.” MSNBC condemned the selection of Johnson citing his expressed doubts about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. However, didn't MSNBC spend years expressing similar doubts about the legitimacy of Donald Trump's election victory in 2016—baselessly blaming Russian interference? 6:50pm- Many progressive media outlets and politicians, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, have denounced Mike Johnson's speakership—referring to him as an “election denier.” On X, President of American Commitment Phil Kerpen highlights the hypocrisy, noting that following the 2016 election Jeffries' tweeted: “The more we learn about 2016 election the more illegitimate it becomes. Mike Johnson was elected by the House to become the next speaker as Republicans rallied behind their fourth nominee to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Johnson could afford only a handful of defections from his fellow Republicans in the chamber-wide vote, but unlike prior candidates, there were no defections to his candidacy from his party. He won 220 votes, needing around 217 to become speaker. Democrats meanwhile continued to vote for Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. He picked up 209 votes from his fellow Democrats. Johnson scored his party's nomination late Tuesday, with several members absent and three voting present. In just the hours from Tuesday, though, Johnson has shored up support from the three Republicans who voted present in Tuesday's late nomination vote. Johnson also got support from President Trump, who gave his support for the GOP nominee, urging Republicans to "get it done, fast" ahead of a potential House speaker vote. DNC says House GOP will 'have to answer' for electing 'MAGA' Mike Johnson as speaker The Democratic National Committee (DNC) took aim at newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., Wednesday just before he won a House-wide vote to replace former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., saying Republicans would "have to answer" to voters in 2024 for supporting him. “Many Americans are waking up this morning wondering — who is Mike Johnson? We’re here to help: MAGA Republicans’ new speaker-designate supports extreme nationwide abortion bans," DNC National Press Secretary Sarafina Chitika said in a statement. "He led the charge for Donald Trump denying President Biden’s legitimate election win and tried to overthrow the votes of 81 million Americans. He’s a leading proponent of slashing Social Security and Medicare," she said. Chitika called Johnson a "carbon-copy" of "MAGA extremism," and predicted House Republicans would have to answer for supporting him when voters head to the polls in 2024. "Make no mistake: The American people will hold them accountable for this choice," she added. Republicans celebrate newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson's gavel ascension Republicans celebrated the election of House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., after he ascended to the gavel on Wednesday. Johnson was elected speaker via a vote of 220-209, taking over the gavel from Speaker pro-tempore Patrick McHenry, R-N.C. Republicans were ecstatic about the election of Johnson, with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer — who secured the GOP's speaker nomination on Tuesday before bowing out — writing his congratulations to the new speaker. "Congratulations to my friend and colleague, [Johnson], on being elected Speaker of the House!" Emmer posted. "His strong convictions and commitment to conservatism will serve this body and the American people well," Emmer added. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., who also ran for House speaker, wrote "servant leadership," with a picture of the new speaker's nameplate "God bless America," Donalds wrote. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-report-unmasks-true-costs-electric-vehicle-mandates-remain-expensive New report unmasks true costs of electric vehicle mandates: 'Remain more expensive' A sweeping first-of-its-kind analysis published by think tank Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF) concludes that electric vehicles (EV) would cost tens of thousands of dollars more if not for generous taxpayer-funded incentives. According to the TPPF report — authored by energy experts Jason Isaac and Brent Bennett — the average model year 2021 EV would cost approximately $48,698 more to own over a 10-year period without the staggering $22 billion in taxpayer-funded handouts that the government provides to electric car manufacturers and owners. The analysis factors in federal fuel efficiency programs, electric grid strain, and direct state and federal subsidies. "It is not an overstatement to say that the federal government is subsidizing EVs to a greater degree than even wind and solar electricity generation and embarking on an unprecedented endeavor to remake the entire American auto industry," the report states. "Despite these massive incentives, EVs are receiving a tepid response from the majority of Americans who cannot shoulder their higher cost." "It’s time for federal and state governments to stop driving the American auto industry off an economic cliff and allow markets to drive further improvements in cost and efficiency," it continues. The report determined that, thanks to a special multiplier that has existed for more than two decades, EVs receive roughly seven times more credits under federal fuel efficiency programs than they provide in actual fuel economy benefits. That figure, the total regulatory credits from federal and state fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions standards, amounts to an average of $27,881 per vehicle for EV makers. Further, the analysis calculated the socialized cost of EV charging stations' strain on the U.S. electric grid amounts to an average of $11,833 per EV over 10 years. Such costs are shouldered by utility ratepayers and taxpayers, many of whom may not own an EV. And, finally, state governments and the federal government provide an average of $8,984 per EV over 10 years in direct taxpayer-funded subsidies. "The stark reality for proponents of EVs and for the dreamers in the federal government, who are using fuel economy regulations to force manufacturers to produce ever more EVs, is that the true cost of an EV is in no way close to a comparable [internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV)]," the report concludes. "Without increased and sustained government favors, EVs will remain more expensive than ICEVs for many years to come," it states. "Hence why, even with these subsidies, EVs have been challenging for dealers to sell and why basic economic realities indicate that the Biden administration’s dream of achieving 100% EVs by 2040 will never become a reality." The TPPF report, meanwhile, comes as lawmakers at the federal and state level continue to take aim at traditional gas-powered vehicles while boosting EVs. President Biden has set a goal of ensuring 50% of all car sales are zero-emissions by 2030 and his administration has pursued rigorous restrictions on gas-powered vehicles. In December 2022, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized rules, which targeted heavy-duty trucks, that it said at the time were the "strongest-ever national clean air standards to cut smog- and soot-forming emissions" from such vehicles. The new standards went into effect on March 27 and will be implemented for new trucks sold after 2027. Then, in April, the EPA proposed the most aggressive federal tailpipe emissions rules on light- and medium-duty emissions ever crafted. If finalized and implemented, 67% of new sedan, crossover, SUV and light truck purchases, up to 50% of bus and garbage truck purchases, 35% of short-haul freight tractor purchases, and 25% of long-haul freight tractor purchases could be electric by 2032, the White House projected. Months later, in July, the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued its most aggressive fuel economy standards ever, an action critics say would increase consumer costs. And last year, the EPA also reinstated California’s authority under the Clean Air Act to implement its own emission standards and electric vehicle sales mandates, allowing other states to also adopt California's rules. The state then approved regulations that mandated all car purchases in the state — which leads the country in annual car sales — be electric by 2035. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2023/10/24/chinese-scientists-discover-8-new-viruses-on-tropical-island-what-could-possibly-go-wrong-n2165509 Chinese Scientists Discover 8 New Viruses on Tropical Island - What Could Possibly Go Wrong? Chinese scientists working on tropical Hainan Island off China's southern coast have discovered eight new viruses in that island's rodent population, and have not ruled out the capability of those viruses to species-jump to humans. One of the viruses has been confirmed to have been a coronavirus; the COVID-19 virus was also a coronavirus, as are several of the viruses that can cause the syndrome we call "the common cold," although rhinoviruses are more common in those cases. Researchers tasked with preparing the world for future pandemic took almost 700 samples from rodents living in Hainan, just off China's southern coast. Eight novel viruses — including one belonging to the same family as Covid — were uncovered in the project, funded by the Chinese Government. Experts said the discovered pathogens had a 'high probability' of infecting humans should they ever cross the species barrier. As a result, they called for further experiments on the viruses to determine exactly what their effects on humans could be. Lots of people from lots of governments as well as academic institutions and private-sector organizations do these kinds of surveys, of course. That's how we learn about viruses, or about anything else in the natural world — by going out, taking samples, and examining things. But there's a different wrinkle in this case. The findings were shared in the journal Virologica Sinica, the publishing arm of the Chinese Society for Microbiology (CSM). CSM is linked to the state-affiliated China Association of Science and Technology, which 'accepts administrative supervision' from the Chinese Government's 'Ministry of Civil Affairs'. Virologica Sinica is also edited by Dr Shi Zhengli, an influential scientist described as China's 'bat woman' who works inside the Wuhan Institute of Virology – considered to be the source of the Covid pandemic in some corners. The journal's editorial board also features over a dozen other academics linked to the WIV. The last sentence of that article's conclusion might raise some concerns: The pathogenicity and associated impact of these novel viruses on humans and animals should be evaluated in further studies. This is, yes, the same Wuhan virology lab that set off alarms about their safety practices at the outbreak of the COVID-19 panic. (There, the Wuhan lab isn't alone.) This is also the same Wuhan virology lab where $2 million in U.S. taxpayer funds were used to conduct research, including gain-of-function research. If that doesn't set some alarm bells ringing, it's not at all clear what would. Coming as it does, hot on the heels of the impeccably coiffed Governor Newsom flying to the Middle Kingdom to stump for Chinese electric cars, and at a time when the American public is growing good and tired of the whole COVID scare, the timing of the discovery is interesting as well. Granted, these kinds of expeditions go on all the time, and granted as well that China doesn't have an unlimited pool of virologists out there looking for work.

The final tally showed 216 in favor of the motion to vacate, while 210 were opposed. Though McCarthy is no longer third in line to the presidency, he will retain his seat. The House will now have to decide who, if anyone, has enough votes to take over as Speaker. Until then, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) will act as Speaker pro tempore. Earlier Tuesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) stood and repeated his motion to vacate. Rep Tom Cole (R-OK) rose to offer to table that motion. The 15-minute vote saw 208 Republicans vote in favor of McCarthy's leadership, and 11 against. All Democrats were in favor of vacating. Following a 60-minute back and forth between those for and against vacating McCarthy's position, the final vote was taken. Gaetz was able to initiate proceedings on his own thanks to the inclusion of the Jeffersonian Motion in the deal made when McCarthy accepted the Speakership in January. Under the agreement, a single person was permitted to introduce a motion to remove McCarthy if he "goes back on his word or policy agenda." In the months since, McCarthy has been criticized by members of his own party for decisions regarding the appropriation of funds to Ukraine, among other things. He recently drew ire from Gaetz and his crew for teaming up with Democrats to pass a 45-day stopgap resolution to keep the government running, despite there not being a properly passed continuing resolution. "You don't know chaos until you've seen where this Congress and this uniparty is bringing us," the Florida Congressman said in response to suggestions from reporters that removing the Speaker would throw the House into disarray. Others, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY), disagreed with Gaetz, and indicated that they would support McCarthy. "I agree with you we need serious change," Greene said, "but there is no plan and no one capable even stepping up. Last time Freedom Caucus threw out a Speaker, we ended up with Paul Ryan who did not support President Trump’s agenda. Nothing can truly change until Trump is back in the WH." Prior to the vote, McCarthy admitted it was "likely" that he would be vacated, noting that if all Democrats sided against him, they would only need five Republican votes. https://dailycaller.com/2023/10/03/dnc-officials-minorities-representation/ DNC Officials Are Freaking Out Because They Can’t Get Enough Minorities To Represent Them High-ranking officials at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are expressing significant worries that the committee is not meeting its self-established minority representation goals, Politico reported. Six present and former committee members are increasingly fretting about the lack of desired diversity among delegates selected to attend the 2023 DNC convention, according to Politico. At the same time, President Joe Biden’s campaign is hemorrhaging minority support, which is crucial for securing a second term. “I keep looking at these diversity goals in big states like New York, like California. And, for some reason, whether it’s the African American community, Black community, the LGBTQ+ community, or Hispanic community, [the] numbers continue to decrease,” political strategist and former chair of the DNC Donna Brazile stated at a recent committee meeting in Washington, D.C., according to Politico. “It raises a red flag in my judgment,” Brazile told Politico in an interview. “And then I try to find out what the hell is it.” Biden’s support among black, Latino and Asian voters plummeted from 63% in July to 47%, according to a Monmouth University poll published on Monday. The poll also found that Trump’s support from these demographics increased from 23% to 33% over the same period of time. The DNC employs a formula to determine delegate diversity figures, which is tailored for each state and considers factors like census data and Democrat-leaning status, according to Politico. “If African Americans are 10 percent of the population, they’re usually like 15-20 percent of the Democratic vote,” political scientist and DNC member Elaine Kamarck stated, according to Politico. “So that’s how the math starts to work for the affirmative action goals.” Biden won the 2020 presidential election with support from more than 70% of nonwhite voters, according to The New York Times. https://nypost.com/2023/10/03/disturbing-video-shows-moment-beloved-activist-poet-is-randomly-stabbed-to-death-in-front-of-girlfriend-on-nyc-street/ Disturbing video shows moment beloved activist, poet is randomly stabbed to death in front of girlfriend on NYC street Disturbing new video shows the moment an activist and poet was randomly stabbed to death in front of his girlfriend – who desperately tried to get help in the aftermath of the harrowing attack in Brooklyn. Ryan Carson, 32, and his girlfriend can be seen sitting on a bus stop bench in Bedford-Stuyvesant and speaking with his girlfriend as the two made their way home from a wedding on Long Island just before 4 a.m. on Monday, according to the surveillance footage. Wearing a gray suit, Carson and the young woman, dressed in a blue, sleeveless gown, get up and begin to walk down the block, in the same direction as a man in a dark colored sweatshirt who had just strolled past the pair at the B38 bus stop, with his hood up over his head and his hands in his pockets. Just feet ahead of them, the stranger begins kicking scooters parked near the curb for no apparent reason, the footage – obtained by The Post on Tuesday – shows. Suddenly, the unhinged man turns to Carson The community activist – who replied that he wasn’t looking at anything – then stepped between his girlfriend and the irate stranger, who began to advance on the couple. “I’ll kill you!” the maniac threatens as Carson pleads with him to “Chill! Chill!” and holds up his hand. But the attacker pursues Carson, pulling a knife, as the victim’s girlfriend – running up behind them – is heard frantically yelling “Please, please, please!” As he runs, Carson tumbles over the bench the couple had earlier been sitting on. The assailant then grabs his jacket and knocks him onto the ground, savagely stabbing him multiple times in the chest as the victim’s girlfriend catches up to them. He then walks away as Carson lies curled up on the ground, before returning and approaching the terrified woman, who raises her hand to stop him. The sicko spits on her – while still clutching the knife – before kicking Carson’s mortally wounded body and storming away. An unknown woman then appears near the corner of the frame, yelling, “Don’t hurt him!” at the crazed man and repeating what sounds like the name “Brian” or “Bryan.” Investigators believe that woman and the suspect knew each other prior to the slaying, police sources said Tuesday. “I’m so sorry!” the same woman exclaims as she approaches Carson, still lying on the sidewalk, as his worried girlfriend stands at his side. The video cuts off as the girlfriend kneels over her loved one’s body, gently moving his arm that had been hanging over his face. She held her gravely injured boyfriend in her arms before he was rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, but it was too late – as the stab wound had pierced his heart, according to cops and sources. The horrific attack happened at Lafayette Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard, just blocks from the Bedford-Nostrand avenues train station, where the couple had gotten off the subway on their way home from the wedding, cops said. No arrests had been made in the heinous crime by Tuesday afternoon, but a “Wanted” poster circulated showing a close-up of the suspect wearing a black “Champion” sweatshirt. And finally… https://www.dailywire.com/news/chicago-airport-now-sheltering-hundreds-of-illegal-migrants-as-city-waits-on-tents Chicago Airport Now Sheltering Hundreds Of Illegal Migrants As City Waits On Tents Chicago is now sheltering hundreds of illegal migrants at O’Hare International Airport as the city waits for new shelters to be built. The hundreds of recent arrivals, including babies and the elderly, live in a shuttle bus center at the airport’s Terminal 1, where they sleep on cardboard and use airport bathrooms, the Associated Press reported. Up to 500 migrants have lived at O’Hare at the same time in the crowded area where privacy is a curtain closed with staples, although the migrants have spread out beyond the curtain, some sleeping along windows as travelers walk by. Medical care is limited, and germs reportedly spread quickly in the living area. A private firm watches the migrants and their activities. The haphazard shelter situation has raised concerns about public health as well as safety. “It was supposed to be a stop-and-go place,” said Vianney Marzullo, one of the few volunteers at O’Hare. “It’s very concerning. It is not just a safety matter, but a public health matter.” Some migrants are also living at Chicago’s other airport, Midway International Airport, about 20 miles south of O’Hare. Others are sleeping on the floors of police stations. Chicago has been scrambling to respond to a migrant crisis before the cold winter months arrive. The country’s third-largest city has experienced an influx of about 14,000 migrants recently, many from Venezuela, and has already spent at least $250 million on the issue. Last month, the city of Chicago signed a $29.4 million contract with a private security firm to build massive winterized camps for newly arrived illegal migrants. The firm will be responsible for building, staffing, and operating the huge tents, which must be able to house between 250 and 1,400 migrants. Chicago Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson faced pushback last month when he asked all 50 city council members to find two acres in their wards for a large tent that could house 200 migrants. “I’ve looked in my ward. I just don’t have any available space. I have one of the most dense wards in the city,” Alderman Brian Hopkins, whose ward includes parts of downtown, said last month. In the meantime, Chicago leaders have been begging the federal government for help with the migrant crisis. “Let me state this clearly: the city of Chicago cannot go on welcoming new arrivals safely and capably without significant support and immigration policy changes,” Johnson said in late August. The federal government has already given Chicago and Illinois at least $8.5 million for the migrant crisis. Other major cities are battling a migrant problem as well. New York City is struggling to process about 113,000 migrants who have streamed into the city since last summer. New York also set up tent shelters for migrants last year but ran into issues, including flooding in one of those shelters. Other cities like Boston and Atlantic City, New Jersey, have rejected the idea of sheltering migrants in airports.

Another mass shooting with an AR-15 armed shooter brings more thoughts and prayers from NRA-owned politicians … and that's about all. In Washington. While Republicans in the U.S. House focus on protecting kids from drag queens and classic books … instead of protecting them from being shot in their classrooms … Michigan's Legislature continues to do just the opposite. Gun safety is the latest issue to move from campaign promises all the way to the Governor's desk. Also enacted in this hyper-active legislative session: returning union rights to workers and civil rights for all Michiganders regardless of sexual identity or orientation. Joining the discussion this week is Democratic Party pollster Celinda Lake with insights on how Democrats can leverage the MAGA takeover of the Republican Party and reclaim the allegiance of Midwest blue-collar voters. Celinda is one of the Democratic Party's leading political strategists. She was one of two lead pollsters for the Biden campaign in 2020 and continues to serve as a pollster to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), other national party committees, and dozens of Democratic incumbents and challengers at all levels of the electoral process. Celinda and her firm, Lake Research Partners, are known for cutting-edge research on issues including the economy, health care, the environment, and education. Celinda, a native of Montana—born and raised on a ranch—and one of the political world's most avid whitewater rafters, holds a master's degree in Political Science and Survey Research from the University of Michigan and her undergraduate degree from Smith College in Massachusetts, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is co-author of a must-read book on political strategy, “A Question of Respect.” Celinda teamed up with Republican pollster Ed Goeas to provide a political resource and a compelling case for how the nation reached a moment of massive political divisions, where it needs to go, and what it will take to get there. She also led research on behalf of American Family Values of how the Democrats' brand in the Midwest is damaged in blue-collar counties. Twitter's new owner released "The Twitter Files" on Friday evening, documenting how the social media company suppressed the legitimate and accurate NY Post story about Hunter Biden's laptop, just ahead of the 2020 election. Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley: “Handled.” That one word, responding to a 2020 demand to censor a list of Twitter users, speaks volumes about the thousands of documents released by Twitter's new owner, Elon Musk, on Friday night. As many of us have long suspected, there were back channels between Twitter and the Biden 2020 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to ban critics or remove negative stories. Those seeking to discuss the scandal were simply “handled,” and nothing else had to be said. Ultimately, the New York Post was suspended from Twitter for reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. Twitter even blocked users from sharing the Post's story by using a tool designed for child pornography. Even Trump White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was suspended for linking to the scandal. FOX News reports that more is coming. Billionaire Elon Musk says "more smoking guns" are on the way after Friday's release of Twitter's internal communications regarding the alleged censoring of the New York Post's Hunter Biden laptop story. Musk made the announcement during a Saturday Q&A session on Twitter Spaces. Journalist Matt Taibbi published numerous internal Twitter documents showing how top executives handled censorship decisions surrounding the 2020 election.    Get exclusive content here!: https://thepetekalinershow.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault, a name previously unknown to most SpyGate sleuths, was recently brought to the public's attention through some astonishing revelations from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). Politically motivated activism by Thibault included the shutting down of an investigation into Hunter Biden in October 2020. Thibault did so by labeling information relating to Hunter as false information—even though many of the details were known to be accurate at the time. Grassley said that Thibault's Democratic National Committee (DNC) partisanship had “impacted his official decision-making on sensitive public corruption investigations” and had “likely affected investigations briefed to, and approved by, senior Justice Department and FBI officials.” But there was another new piece of information within Grassley's disclosures that's been bothering us of late: Thibault's association and interaction with Bruce and Nellie Ohr in Prague. Grassley disclosed that Thibault, “while overseeing and directing the FBI's most significant federal public corruption investigations, traveled to the Czech Republic to attend the same seminar with Bruce and Nellie Ohr in late February 2016.” As we shall see, that trip to Prague was more integrated and potentially much more significant than Grassley's letter has indicated. Grassley rightly observed that, at the time of the trip, Nellie Ohr was employed by Fusion GPS, working to fabricate anti-Trump propaganda for use by the Hillary Clinton campaign and DNC, and she was also involved in the fake Alfa-Bank narrative. Her husband Bruce Ohr, a senior DOJ official, was instrumental in pushing the Steele dossier, along with information from Glenn Simpson, into the FBI, and he maintained close contact with Steele until November 2017. Of particular note is the fact that in the days that followed the February 2016 Czech conference, the FBI's New York field office suddenly requested permission to open an investigation into Carter Page. ⭕️Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Maryland voters head to the polls next week. Mail-in voting has already begun. Early voting starts Thursday. Election day is two weeks from Tuesday. Today, it's a special installment in our series of Conversations with the Candidates 2022.  Two of the three leading candidates in the Democratic primary for Governor join Tom for the hour to discuss the issues on the minds of Marylanders. In early June, a poll published by the Baltimore Sun identified Comptroller Peter Franchot, non-profit executive Wes Moore and former Labor Secretary Tom Perez leading a 10-person field in the Democratic primary. Those three candidates polled in the low double-digits. A large number of respondents said they had not made up their minds. In a poll released on Tuesday of this week, commissioned by WYPR, the Baltimore Banner and Goucher College showed the race between Mr. Franchot, Mr. Moore and Mr. Perez to be even closer than it was in early June. Those three candidates are now in a statistical tie. The other candidate who is closest to them is former Attorney General Doug Gansler, who is about ten points behind. We invited the top three candidates to appear on Tuesday of this week. Peter Franchot's spokesperson declined our invitation citing a schedule conflict. We tried a different date, today, and once again citing a schedule conflict, the Franchot campaign declined our invitation. And so, we are pleased to welcome Wes Moore and Tom Perez to today's conversation. They join us on Zoom. Wes Moore is a best-selling author who has worked in the private and non-profit sector. He was most recently the CEO of the Robin Hood Foundation, a national philanthropic organization. And, full disclosure: he once hosted Future City,a public affairs show on WYPR. He has chosen as his running mate former Delegate Aruna Miller from Montgomery County… Tom Perez is a lawyer who headed the Civil Rights Division in the US Justice Department, and served as MD labor secretary during the O'Malley administration. He was also appointed US Labor Secretary during the Obama Administration, and he was the chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). He has chosen as his running mate Shannon Sneed, a former Baltimore City Councilwoman… We begin with an opportunity for each candidate to say hello and explain why they deserve your vote. Dan Backer, President and General Counsel for the Coolidge-Reagan Foundation, discusses the filing of the original complaint that led to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clinton campaign having to pay fines to the Federal Election Committee for concealing payments that they used to fund the Christopher Steele Dossier. The counselor reacts that it is rare these days to get any action or penalties from the Federal Election Commission, that finally there is a “semblance of accountability, and probably the first fine that the Clintons are ever actually paying”. Backer goes on to say that this goes beyond political “dirty tricks” that this is “actual Russian collusion”, that the DNC and Clinton campaign “colluded with the Russian government, and they did it knowingly, and they hid it from the public.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

At the time, dozens of high-level intelligence community officials—including a former director of national intelligence and three former directors of the CIA—signed a letter claiming the emails looked like Russian disinformation. It was right in the midst of a heated election cycle. Fast forward to this week, the assistant director of the FBI's cyber division, Bryan Vorndran, testified under oath that he did not know the location of the laptop, which had been seized by the FBI in 2019. Also, this week the Washington Examiner broke the story that the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has fined the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Clinton campaign for secretly funneling money to ex-British spy Christopher Steele for the creation of the Steele dossier. The DNC and the Clinton campaign are not contesting the fine. Kash Patel gives us his take on what's going on.

Alperovitch currently serves as Chairman of the non-profit Silverado Policy Accelerator, where he focuses on advancing American prosperity and global leadership by working directly with both the executive branch and Capitol Hill on issues related to cyber, trade & industrial security, and ecological & economic security. What prompted this conversation was a Twitter thread that Dmitri published recently, in which he explained why he believes the Kremlin has already made its decision to invade Ukraine later this winter—in late January or possibly early February—and that military confrontation is in fact the preferred route for Putin at this point. It's a fascinating thread and we encourage you all to read through it after listening to today's episode. Kofinas and Alperovitch spend the first half of their conversation discussing the various signals that Dimitri believes point to the increased likelihood of a military invasion of Ukraine and the partitioning of the country by Russia in the next several months, as well Putin's possible motivations and objectives in doing so. The second part of their conversation, which is available to premium subscribers focuses on the cyber component of this conflict, including evidence of increased cyber intrusions into the Ukrainian government and civilian networks, what the targets have been, and what can be further inferred about the Kremlin's objectives based on the nature of those targets. Alperovitch also shares his views on how he thinks the Biden administration can credibly respond to the mounting pressure on Ukraine's defenses, the effectiveness of sanctions as a tool for dissuading Russian aggression as well as for punishing Kremlin leadership after the fact, and the similarities between Ukraine and Taiwan and what lessons the Chinese communist party may be drawing from our response or failure to respond to mounting Russian aggression on Ukraine's eastern border. The Federal Government is Getting Creative in Regulating Technology

The theme of this episode is a surge of creativity in the Biden administration as it searches for ways to regulate cybersecurity and cryptocurrency without new legislative authority. Paul Rosenzweig lays out the Department of Homeland Security's entries in the creativity sweepstakes: New (and frankly pretty modest) cybersecurity directives to the rail and air industry plus a much more detailed (and potentially problematic) set of requirements for pipeline companies. Matthew Heiman describes a Justice Department plan for enforcing cybersecurity rules for federal contractors that should chill the hearts of management: an initiative that raises the prospect of whistleblower suits under the False Claims Act for failure to disclose breaches to the government. I suggest that this means the notoriously short tenure of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at large companies will now come with a built-in retirement compensation package. Creativity in regulating cryptocurrency was signaled both by the White House, which is working on a broader and more coordinated regulatory approach and by the Justice Department, which is planning a major criminal investigative approach to the industry. Nick Weaver gives us the details. Paul covers a remarkably creative assertion of The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) jurisdiction over a Chinese purchase of Magnachip, a company with virtually no ties to the United States. Despite having no obvious skin in the game, CFIUS insisted on a CFIUS filing under President Trump and then vetoed the deal under President Biden. I suggest that the claim of extraterritorial jurisdiction, which in other circumstances might have annoyed South Korea, is in this case a good way for South Korea to avoid taking heat from China.  Paul explains why the Facebook outage was a much bigger deal than Americans realized. If you were living in Costa Rica, the loss of Facebook and WhatsApp, he says, could have greatly complicated every aspect of daily life, including calls for emergency services. Paul digs into the return of “hactivism”—not to mention skepticism about hactivism. I marshal the evidence that the Pandora Papers were the result of hacks, not leaks—and roast the newspapers feasting on the hack for their utter hypocrisy. Hey, Marty Baron! We haven't forgotten that after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) leaks of 2016, you said “Before reporting on the release of hacked or leaked information, there should be a conversation with senior editors about the newsworthiness of the information, its authenticity and whether we can determine its provenance... If a decision is made to publish a story about hacked or leaked information, our coverage should emphasize what we know—or don't know—about the source of the information and how that may fit into a foreign or domestic influence operation. Our stories should prominently explain what we know about the full context of the information we are presenting, including its origins and the motivations of the source, including whether it appears to be an effort to distract from another development.” We're still looking for that “full context” in the Pandora Papers or the Epik leaks. Nick fills us in on Facebook's extreme reaction to the creation of a tool that allows users to escape the News Feed. I discover that I've completely missed the central Facebook experience because I semi-inadvertently disabled the news feed. Paul offers some surprising news about the limits of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Turns out, it's not that good even at some of the things it should be superb at, like radiology reviews. Nick and I explore Google's acceptance of warrants based on search terms. He thinks that this has gone on under the radar for some time because both government and Google think the public reaction will be bad for business.  Finally, in two quick hits: I brag about the proof that I'm one of the 14,000 Gmail users that the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU) fears most: Google caught the Russian spy agency trying to phish me with a doctored Word document.  And Matthew reveals what the Russian SolarWinds hackers were looking for. From all the SolarWinds bad news, we extract this bit of good news: U.S. sanctions are really getting under Putin's skin. So much so that sanctions are among Russian spies' top collection priorities. Minnesota Government Asks Whether Outsiders, White Supremacists Lit Fires in Twin Cities

It's Friday, so that means it's panel time.A very interesting article ran Friday in the Wall Street Journal, entitled "Who Set the Fires in the Twin Cities?" It reads, "Ever since protesters flooded the streets following the killing of George Floyd in police custody, residents here have wondered: Who burned down so many businesses in the Twin Cities, and why? While a few arrests have been made so far, the question continues to go largely unanswered. ... The ATF [US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] has released photos and videos, asking for the public's help in identifying suspects caught on security cameras lighting fires, pouring accelerants and throwing an apparent Molotov cocktail. ... Minnesota state officials have pointed to unspecified and unconnected outsiders, including white supremacists, anarchists and drug cartels for turning peaceful demonstrations into violent riots that left scores of businesses looted, damaged or destroyed by flames." That's an interesting narrative to me. US President Donald Trump has described protestors as thugs, playing into a racist stereotype from what's been displayed in the media."The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 321 points, or 1.3%, paring gains of as much as 837 points shortly after the opening bell," the Wall Street Journal reported Friday. "The index slid 6.9% on Thursday on concerns about an uptick in coronavirus cases and the pace of the economic recovery. The S&P 500 climbed 1% Friday, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.8%. All three indexes are poised to close the week down at least 2.5%, snapping a three-week winning streak." Do these numbers tell us anything substantive? "Trump in recent weeks has repeatedly signaled that his sympathies lie with the police over the protesters, whom he has broadly portrayed as members of a loosely affiliated anti-fascist movement known as antifa, though the vast majority of the demonstrators across the country have been peaceful," the Washington Post reported Thursday. "Since [George] Floyd's death, he has tweeted about 'LAW & ORDER!' more than a dozen times. In a roundtable Thursday in Dallas, Trump proclaimed that the nation's problems with racism will be solved 'very easily. It will go quickly, and it will go very easily.'”"Trump's decision to hold a Tulsa rally on Juneteenth is no coincidence," read the headline of a Friday op-ed by Frida Ghitis for CNN. She writes that the event "will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the site of a race massacre 99 years ago that remains one of the worst acts of racial violence in US history. In 1921, hundreds of African Americans were killed when white mobs looted and burned what had been a thriving neighborhood known as 'Black Wall Street.'" Juneteenth, or June 19, is the day honoring what happened on June 19, 1865: Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas with orders that all slaves in Texas were free in accordance with the Emancipation Proclamation, issued on January 1, 1863."The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and two allied groups sued the Arizona Secretary of State to allow voters five business days after federal elections to correct ballots that may otherwise have been rejected for not having a signature," Reuters reported Thursday. "Currently, such ballots are not counted.""The combination of limited training on new voting machines and reduced polling locations due to the novel coronavirus could produce crushingly long lines and severely hamper voting access," Georgia election officials and voting rights advocates had warned, the Washington Post reported Wednesday. "Yet none of those in charge of Georgia's elections were able to head off what all agreed was a breakdown of the voting system. Residents waited for hours to cast ballots, some past midnight. Workers struggled to operate new touch-screen machines. Some polling places in suburban Atlanta opened with no equipment at all."We've got these stories and more!GUESTS:Caleb Maupin - Collaborator with major news outlets and author of "City Builders and Vandals in Our Age."Dr. Jack Rasmus - Teaches economics and politics at St. Mary's College in California and is the author of the book "The Scourge of Neoliberalism: US Economic Policy from Reagan to Trump."Jim Kavanagh - Political analyst and commentator and editor of The Polemicist.Dr. Colin Campbell - TV news reporter for more than 20 years. With the announcement of a “whistle blower’s” complaint that Trump abused his position to demand that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky aid in digging up “dirt” on his opponent in 2020, Joe Biden, Pelosi suddenly shifted her position on September 24, and the race for impeachment was on.What led to this sudden rush to judgement against Trump? There are three significant reasons for the flight-forward lunacy coming from the anti-Trump crowd:1. The investigation launched by Attorney General William Barr into the origin of the whole fabricated Russiagate fiasco, which was first announced by President Trump on May 24, is moving into a decisive phase. In that announcement, Trump said he tasked Barr with the job of conducting a broad probe, saying he hopes he looks into the role of the United Kingdom, Australia and Ukraine, at a minimum. Along with the soon-to-be-revealed findings of Justice Department Inspector General Horowitz on fraud committed by Obama administration intelligence officials in obtaining FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign, Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham are honing in on the networks which launched the attack against Trump. They are investigating what role was played by foreign governments in the operations against the Trump campaign in 2016, and then in the regime change coup against him after his election. What they will likely prove is that Russiagate was a continuation of British imperial geopolitical manipulations to insure that there could be no improvement in U.S.-Russian relations, with Ukraine serving as a key battleground to disrupt Trump’s efforts to develop cooperative relations with Russia. The February 2014 regime change coup against a democratically-elected government in Ukraine was run by British and U.S. intelligence operatives, working with “left-wing” Soros’ -funded networks and “right-wing” neocons, who backed violent Nazi militia networks involved in the Maidan Square uprising. The point man for the Obama administration in handling Ukraine was Vice President Joe Biden.2. The failure of the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller to find evidence of Russian meddling, Trump collusion with Russia, and obstruction of justice by the President, freed him to move forward with his intent to improve relations with Russia. The firing of the Director of National Intelligence Coats and National Security Adviser Bolton, both of whom are committed war hawks who had been acting within the administration against Trump’s desires to put an end to the regime change wars of the last two decades, demonstrated that he was now taking control of his administration, especially its foreign policy. This has been a fear of the imperial geopoliticians from the beginning of his presidency, and it was reaffirmed by his discussions at the Osaka G20 summit with Putin, Xi, India’s Modi, and then his trip to meet with North Korean President Kim following the summit, that he was committed to follow through with his intent to pull the U.S. out of the provocative strategic geometry of his predecessors, Bush and Obama. The potential for a realignment organized by Trump, outside the Old Paradigm defined by geopolitics, represents an existential threat to the Trans-Atlantic elites who have used divide-and-conquer schemes and endless regional wars to enforce their designs.3. The onrush of a financial crisis, which combines the threat of the popping of the “everything bubble” with the collapse of a staggering volume of unsustainable debt, has been met by the global financial elites and their central bank operatives by a return to short-term bailouts, and a concerted push for creating a new Green financial bubble. The recent threats by Bank of England Governor Mark Carney, at the U.N. Climate Summit, that those banks and firms which do not accept a Green financial dictatorship will be cut off from credit by central banks, is a key feature of this agenda. Trump’s repeated denunciations of the Federal Reserve policy, combined with his open rejection of the fraud of “man-made climate change”, has heightened the panic of these financial circles that he may respond to the collapse with economic nationalist measures, which reflect the influence of American economist and statesman Lyndon LaRouche. Those behind Russiagate come from the same circles as those who ran the persecution of LaRouche, including William Weld, who is running against Trump, and Robert Mueller, who took over from Weld the running of the Get LaRouche task force.WHY UKRAINE?The excuse for launching the latest impeachment frenzy is the release of a “whistle blower’s” report on a call made by Trump to Ukraine’s new President Zelensky, on July 25. Trump acknowledges that in that conversation, he asked for Zelensky’s aid in investigating leads into the role of Ukrainian networks in setting Russiagate into motion, as well as the involvement of Joe Biden, when he was Vice President, in shutting down an investigation into charges of corruption involving his son, Hunter, who was a board member of a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma. Trump attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who has been looking into a variety of leads involving Ukraine, stated that he began the investigation because he believed “there was a lot of evidence” that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Clinton campaign — which were involved in launching the initial charges against the Trump campaign in the summer of 2016 — “had a close connection to Ukrainian officials.”Among matters under investigation, in addition to the charges of Biden’s personal role in shutting down an investigation into his son’s role at Burisma, by threatening to cancel aid to Ukraine if the prosecutor in that case was not fired immediately, was the surfacing of a “black book”, which was allegedly a ledger of payments to Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort from the Yanukovych government. While this ledger was never produced as evidence, its purported existence was used by Mueller in the conviction of Manafort for money laundering. Manafort’s conviction was the first big success for Mueller. Giuliani said that Manafort’s attorney told him that the “black book” did not exist! In addition to Giuliani’s probe, Senators Grassley and Johnson wrote a letter to Barr saying they will investigate the Ukrainian government’s role on behalf of the Clinton campaign in framing Manafort. “Such allegations of corruption deserve due scrutiny,” they wrote in the letter. While the wealth of details about the leads from Ukraine is beyond the scope of this article, there are several points which must be made (1.). One involves the dirty role played by lead impeachment operative Rep. Schiff, who knew of the charges against Trump before the whistle blower filed his complaint. The whistle blower, who has been identified by the {New York Times} as a CIA official, approached a House Intelligence Committee aide to brief him, before filing his complaint. The aide then reported to Schiff, the Committee chair, raising the question of whether or not Schiff played a role in drafting what was contained in the complaint.Secondly, there is the question raised by Trump of looking into whether CrowdStrike, the firm which claimed it had proof of Russian hacking of the DNC server, which it was supposed to be protecting, had moved that server to Ukraine. There are many reports of Ukrainian hackers having left digital finger prints all over elements of Russiagate, working with networks in the NSA and CIA. The CrowdStrike claim of Russian “hacking” was never proven — in fact, the server was never given to the FBI to investigate, and the only forensic investigation into the charges of Russian hacking, by former NSA Technical Director Bill Binney and associates, demonstrated that the Clinton/DNC files were not hacked, but captured through a download, i.e., were taken as a result of an “inside” job.Third is the simple fact that the Putin-hating networks involved in the Ukraine coup overlap those trying to frame Trump in Russiagate. These include “ex”-MI6 operative Christopher Steele, of the notorious “pee-pee” dossier, funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC, who worked with State Department official Jonathan Winer, in filing dozens of reports on Ukraine in the period of the 2014 coup; the Soros networks, which provided funds for both the Ukrainian uprising and the anti-Trump insurgency; a variety of anti-Trump neocons; and CIA and U.S. intel operatives, in collusion with Russophobes and Trump regime change plotters John Brennan, the former CIA Director, and James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence. There are reports that both Brennan and Clapper are terrified by the Durham investigation. Brennan has not only been a leading instigator in demanding impeachment, but responded to the latest whistle blower report by calling for more whistle blowers to come forward. In contrast, when he was CIA chief, he took the lead in demanding prosecution of those who blew the whistle on his dirty ops, including torture and illegal spying on Americans.THE TARGET IS RUSSIAAs reported above, the real reason for the attacks on Trump is his commitment to break with the imperial geopolitical strategic arrangement which has dominated the post-Cold War world. He not only campaigned by saying he wished the U.S. to be “friends” with Russia and China, but acted on that from the beginning of his presidency. This is the causus belli for the financial and intelligence establishment, sometimes identified as the “Military Industrial Complex”, or the shadow government. Their goal is not merely sustaining military build-up, and fighting endless wars, but to protect a globalist financial regime of looting and genocidal austerity, not only against the underdeveloped sector, but increasingly against the populations of the Trans-Atlantic region. This global regime is threatened by the collapse of its failed economic policies, but also by the emergence of a alternative, “New Paradigm”, centered around China’s Belt-and-Road Initiative. This New Paradigm is gaining support from many nations, due to its commitment to offer an alternative to the disastrous policies of the IMF and World Bank, through providing credit and technologies for the building of an economy based on advancing a new platform of infrastructure, and using real science to improve the energy-flux density needed for a new era of manufacturing and agriculture. This New Paradigm is very much influenced by the life work in science and economics of Lyndon LaRouche. The possibility that Trump could move against the Old Paradigm, and join with Russia, China and India — as LaRouche proposed prior to the crash of 2008 — represents a real threat to the existing system. The destructive failure of the present system is what provoked the global insurgency against that establishment, typified not only by Trump’s victory in 2016, but by Brexit, the ongoing fight in Italy and Austria, etc. — voters in many nations are rejecting the globalists, and electing leaders who refuse to submit to the post-Cold War geometry. The counter-attack against this insurgency has ranged from falsified prosecutorial efforts and “sting operations”, such as those run by MI6 and the CIA/FBI in Russiagate with operatives such as Josef Mifsud — whose role is under investigation by Barr and Durham, in cooperation with Italy — to false flags, such as the attempt to start a war with Iran, and “Color Revolution” regime change operations, as in Hong Kong. When the prosecutorial House of Cards known as the Mueller report collapsed, panic necessitated a new assault against Trump. While those pushing impeachment, such as Schiff and Nadler are deadly serious in their commitment to disrupt efforts to achieve peaceful cooperation between the U.S. with Russia and China, the present escalation is galvanizing an effort to defeat the putschists, as their latest efforts are increasingly being exposed. The {Washington Times}, for example, in an article titled “John Durham probe goes worldwide to examine spies and their Trump targets,” lays out the deeper strategic implications, which previously had rarely been reported outside of LaRouche publications. The article quotes a former Pentagon spokesman and Trump campaign national security adviser, J.D. Gordon, who said, “The Trump-Russia collusion narrative was a clear attempt to subvert democracy by destroying a presidency and as many people in the president’s orbit as possible….Since the shady origins crisscross the globe from the U.K. to Italy to Ukraine to Australia and beyond, it’s only logical for Barr and Durham to pursue all credible leads and hold those accountable for any crimes they may have committed. Unless those responsible for the abuse of power that created Trump–Russia mass hysteria are punished, that sort of nefarious behavior will become the new normal in our media and politics.”Thus, the real question facing those living in the Trans-Atlantic region, is whether they will step forward to lead the fight against the regime changers and their coup, in defense of the election of Donald Trump and the Constitution, or submit meekly to the genocidalists and allow them cause the likely destruction of life on the planet.END1.) The details known thus far, including an in-depth look at the role of Joe Biden, are available in a report produced by larouchepac, https://larouchepac.com/20190927/concerning-coup-against-trump-some-plain-facts. "I think I'd want to hear it. … I think you might want to listen. There isn't anything wrong with listening," he said in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. Trump added he would not necessarily contact the FBI if such an approach was made, fueling Democrats' ire. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., a 2020 candidate for president, tweeted, "It's time for Congress to begin impeachment hearings."Still, Trump supporters point out that Democrats may be hypocrites on this issue, as they failed to condemn fellow Democrats, including representatives of Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), for funding the creation of the infamous and discredited anti-Trump "Steele dossier" by former British spy Christopher Steele. Fox News' Sean Hannity called the Trump-Stephanopoulos interview a "nonstory" and a "genius setup"by Trump for his foes in the "media mob." The interview was released hours after House Judiciary Committee Democrats announced that former White House Communications Director Hope Hicks has agreed to testify before the panel next week on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report.Brother of 'Shark Tank' star Barbara Corcoran found dead in Dominican Republic hotel roomThe intrigue surrounding vacation spots in the Dominican Republic deepened Wednesday with the news that Jonathan Corcoran, a retired New Jersey businessman and brother of ABC "Shark Tank" judge Barbara Corcoran, was found dead in a hotel room there in April. Jonathan Corcoran's death was first reported by the gossip site TMZ and confirmed to Fox News by Emily Burke, Barbara Corcoran's assistant. The revelation comes as the popular Caribbean vacation spot is making worldwide headlines with a recent rash of suspicious deaths of U.S. tourists plus the shooting of retired Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz. It was unclear where Corcoran stayed at the time of his death. TMZ said no one knows exactly what led to his death, though Barbara Corcoran told the outlet that she was told he had a heart attack.Six suspects, including alleged gunman, in custody in David Ortiz shootingSix suspects have been detained in the shooting of former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz, including the alleged gunman, authorities in the Dominican Republic said Wednesday. Four other suspects were being pursued in the shooting, which witnesses said was carried out by two men on a motorcycle and two other groups of people in cars, the country's chief prosecutor, Jean Alain Rodríguez, told a news conference. Authorities identified the alleged shooter as Rolfy Ferreyra, aka Sandy. Police Maj. Gen. Ney Aldrin Bautista Almonte said the coordinator of the attack also was among the suspects in custody. He claimed the man was offered 400,000 Dominican pesos, or about $7,800, to carry out the shooting Sunday evening at a popular Santo Domingo bar.Two oil tankers damaged in suspected attack in the Gulf of Oman, crew evacuatedTwo oil tankers were damaged in a suspected attack off the Gulf of Oman early Thursday, according to multiple reports. The U.S. Navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet told Reuters it was assisting two tankers in the Gulf of Oman after receiving two distress calls. ``We are aware of the reported attack on tankers in the Gulf of Oman. U.S. Naval Forces in the region received two separate distress calls at 6:12 a.m. local time and a second one at 7:00 a.m.,'' Joshua Frey of the Fifth Fleet said. "They've testified for many hours, all of them. I would say, it's done," Trump told Fox News' Chief Intelligence Correspondent Catherine Herridge. "Nobody has ever done what I've done. I've given total transparency. It's never happened before like this. They shouldn't be looking anymore. It's done." Attorney General Bill Barr made the right call in deciding not to appear before the House Judiciary Committee on Thursday, Trump said, following his testimony Wednesday in the Senate. House Democrats had insisted that committee counsel, rather than members of Congress, question Barr. Ukraine embassy says DNC operative reached out for dirt on Trump in 2016 Ukraine's embassy wrote that a Democratic National Committee (DNC) insider reached out in 2016 seeking dirt on then-candidate Donald Trump's team, according to a bombshell new report Thursday that further fueled Republican allegations that Democrats were the ones improperly colluding with foreign agents during the campaign. Ambassador Valeriy Chaly said DNC contractor Alexandra Chalupa pushed for Ukraine's then-President Petro Poroshenko to mention Paul Manafort's ties to Ukraine publicly during a visit to the U.S., and sought detailed financial information on his dealings in the country, the Hill reported. At the time, Manafort was Trump's campaign chairman. Alabama Dem attacks Trump Jr. with slur after abortion comments spark outcry The Democrat from Alabama who sparked outrage with his remarks defending abortion attacked Donald Trump Jr., saying he's "proof" that mothers should have the right to abort their children. State Rep. John Rogers of Birmingham caused an uproar while expressing his opposition to the approved bill that would outlaw all abortions in Alabama with the exception of those for women whose pregnancies cause a risk to their health. Florida Legislature passes GOP ban on sanctuary-city policies; DeSantis expected to sign into law The Florida Legislature passed a high-profile Republican bill on Thursday banning sanctuary policies that protect undocumented immigrants and requiring law enforcement officials to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. The bill passed the House on a 68-45 vote with Democrats opposed, shortly after it cleared the Senate by a 22-18 mostly party-line vote, as the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reported. Gov. Ron DeSantis has supported the measure and is expected to sign it into law. Another conflict of interest pops up in Kim Foxx’s handling of Jussie Smollett case The Cook County, Ill., judge set to decide whether a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate why charges were dropped against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett has a son who works in the state's attorney's office. The news sets up another potential conflict of interest for State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office and its handling of the controversial case. Judge Leroy Martin Jr. addressed a petition Thursday filed by retired Appellate Judge Sheila O'Brien to recuse himself and assign the case to a judge outside Cook County. Martin's son, Leroy Martin III, is an assistant state's attorney who has worked under Foxx for more than a year. He was hired in April 2018.

They’re all GRU members, which is Russia’s intelligence agency. And one of the defendants is accused of hacking into state election systems themselves. Intelligence officials say Russia intended for the hacks to help Donald Trump. But during a presser following his closed-door meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday, the President sided with Russia. This was met with strong rebukes from U.S. intelligence officials and Republicans. Meanwhile, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Dan Coates warns of an imminent “crippling cyber attack on our critical infrastructure”. He names Russia as “the most aggressive foreign actor, no question.” And CNN reports that a Kremlin-linked internet company, Mail.Ru, had access to a Facebook app that collected user data without their consent. FCC changes consumer complaint rules The Republican-led Federal Communications Commission passed a new rule last week that will require consumers to pay a $225 fee to file formal complaints with the agency. Democrats were livid, with Democratic Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel calling the rule change “bonkers”, and FCC Chairman Pai passed the rules over the objections of Democratic representatives Frank Pallone and Mike Doyle. They’re concerned the rule change will dilute the impact of informal complaints. Purdue study: Airbnb benefits local economies in white neighborhoods. Black and Latino neighborhoods? Not so much. A new study of Purdue University, that looks at Bureau of Labor Statistics and Yelp data, has found that Airbnb’s economic benefits local economies—with one wrinkle: it’s mainly neighborhoods that are predominantly white. The study specifically looked at the spillover effect to local economies when Airbnb guests stay there by evaluating how many new jobs were created in area restaurants. Apparently, Airbnb guests are less likely to eat at restaurants surrounding Airbnbs in neighborhoods where the black or Latino population exceeds 50%, than they are in predominantly white neighborhoods. Cornell Belcher is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He served as Pollster for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) under Chairman Howard Dean making him the first minority to lead in that role for either national Party. He also served on the polling team for both Obama presidential campaigns. Over the years, Cornell has worked with both Senate and House Democrats as Senior Political Advisor to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Cornell is the author of the new book, A Black Man in the White House: Barack Obama and the Triggering of America's Racial-Aversion Crisis. During this week's show, Chauncey and Cornell discuss Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton, what the polling data predicted (or not) about that outcome, the errors that the Democratic Party is making strategically in terms of outreach to young black and brown voters, the power of demographics, and how the white racial backlash against Barack Obama gave Donald Trump the White House. During this week's podcast, Chauncey offers some comments on the Michael Flynn "scandal" and what the real hustle is, reads from a great profile of Trump adviser and white supremacist Stephen Miller as a young man, and shares some hate mail from a Trumpthuglican.

he FBI is investigating an apparent cyberattack on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, Fox News confirmed Friday. The breach appears to be part of a series of cyberattacks targeting Democratic organizations, including the the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The investigation was first reported by Reuters, which said that the Justice Department's national security division was investigating whether the cyberattacks threatened national security. Clinton campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said Friday that an "analytics data program maintained by the DNC, and used by our campaign and a number of other entities, was accessed as part of the DNC hack." Merrill added that outside cybersecurity experts have found "no evidence" that the campaign's internal systems have been compromised. An FBI statement did not mention the Clinton campaign specifically, but said it was aware of reporting "on cyber intrusions involving multiple political entities, and is working to determine the accuracy, nature and scope of these matters." The report that Clinton's campaign was hacked comes a day after the cyberattack on the DCCC, which raises money for Democratic congressional candidates, was made public. Sources told Fox News Friday that the DCCC hack bears similarities to the recent breach of DNC files. We feature Jeff Gamet, Managing Editor for The Mac Observer. The discussion begins with a pop culture session, covering the latest super hero shows, the selection of a new actor to play Superman on TV, and the curious differences between DC Comics TV shows and movies, which exist in what appear to be separate universes. Moving on to the tech world, Gene and Jeff talk about the recent appointment of Bob Mansfield to lead Apple's Project Titan, which reportedly is focusing on autonomous driving and a potential Apple Car. There's also a discussion of Apple's financials and the possibility that Apple is slowly starting to rise again from the doldrums. You'll also hear from ethical hacker Dr. Timothy Summers, President of Summers & Company, a cyber strategy and organizational design consulting firm, who will focus the main part of his discussion on the recent hacks of Democratic National Committee (DNC) emails, and how hackers might conspire to influence the U.S. election for President. Is there an object lesson here, that anything in an email is potentially vulnerable to hacking? And what about the security of voting machines? Can hackers manipulate the results? Dr. Summers will also discuss the Summer 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. Does the arrival of hundreds of thousands of people create the climate for hackers to steal money from tourists by taking over ATM machines and performing other criminal acts? How do you protect yourself from theft while traveling abroad?

President Richard Nixon Defends His Office on Watergate Charges Watch the video on our YouTube Channel https://youtu.be/7rQBIunbH8Q Watergate was a major political scandal that occurred in the United States in the 1970s, following a break-in at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. and President Richard Nixon's administration's attempted cover-up of its involvement. When the conspiracy was discovered and investigated by the U.S. Congress, the Nixon administration's resistance to its probes led to a constitutional crisis. The term Watergate has come to encompass an array of clandestine and often illegal activities undertaken by members of the Nixon administration. Those activities included such "dirty tricks" as bugging the offices of political opponents and people of whom Nixon or his officials were suspicious. Nixon and his close aides ordered harassment of activist groups and political figures, using the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The scandal led to the discovery of multiple abuses of power by the Nixon administration, articles of impeachment, and the resignation of Nixon as President of the United States on August 9, 1974. The scandal also resulted in the indictment of 69 people, with trials or pleas resulting in 25 being found guilty and incarcerated, many of whom were Nixon's top administration officials. The affair began with the arrest of five men for breaking and entering into the DNC headquarters at the Watergate complex on Saturday, June 17, 1972. The FBI investigated and discovered a connection between cash found on the burglars and a slush fund used by the Committee for the Re-Election of the President (CREEP), the official organization of Nixon's campaign. In July 1973, evidence mounted against the President's staff, including testimony provided by former staff members in an investigation conducted by the Senate Watergate Committee. The investigation revealed that President Nixon had a tape-recording system in his offices and that he had recorded many conversations. After a protracted series of bitter court battles, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the president was obligated to release the tapes to government investigators, and he eventually complied. These audio recordings implicated the president, revealing he had attempted to cover up activities that took place after the break-in and to use federal officials to deflect the investigation. Facing near-certain impeachment in the House of Representatives and equally certain conviction by the Senate, Nixon resigned the presidency on August 9, 1974.[ On September 8, 1974, his successor, Gerald Ford, pardoned him.
