En de manier waarop oud-Labourleider Ed Miliband Boris onderuit haalde met de stelling dat de premier zelf geen notie heeft van wat er in de wet staat, was bijzonder vermakelijk. En ook de hoop dat het Hogerhuis gaat ingrijpen, lijkt me meer wensdenken dan werkelijkheid. Spijkerhard Het is duidelijk dat Boris, niet in een opwelling, maar heel doordacht, nu spijkerhard inzet op alles of niets: een Brexit zoals hij die wil, of een harde Brexit. To Brexit or not to Brexit is geen vraag: het Verenigd Koninkrijk stapt eruit, ondanks spookbeelden over duizenden vrachtautos aan de grens, chaos in Schotland, het omvallen van het Goede Vrijdagakkoord met Ierland, een visserijoorlog op de Noordzee.
