It is tasseographer, journalist and historian Rissa Miller's birthday this week so we present this classic Dark Mark Show from 2022 where Mark and Nicole first talked to her and she became one of their favorite people and guests. Rissa grew up in York, Pennsylvania and was fascinated by the vintage architecture and the ghosts within, after studying screenwriting at NYU then photojournalism at Western Kentucky (experiencing the culture shock of being a goth in the deep South) she quickly became an editor of The Baltimore Sun and the then Vegetarian Journal, which is now the Vegan Journal. She describes the struggles of being a vegan in the 90s (wait until you hear what she poured on her corn flakes) and how things have changed. She also does tarot card readings, witchy get togethers, ghost tours for humans and animals and is starting to become a horror host. A published poet as well, she reads her poem "Enchantress" on air. She read Mark's tea leaves and found, among other things, bats (go figure) and something she has never seen in a teacup before You can book a tarot, smoke or tea leaf reading with Rissa at www.teaandsmoke.com This podcast is sponsored by Eddie by Giddy FDA Class II medical device built to treat erectile dysfunction and performance unpredictability. Rissa Miller is a fearless advocate for the term 'witch,' and she has faced her fair share of prejudice. Recognizing the longstanding stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding witches, Rissa delves into how the label has been reckless, insensitive, and deadly to women. She questions what qualifies a woman as a witch, and whether engaging in divination work, practicing reiki, or even collecting crystals classifies someone as a witch. Rissa notes that the perception of a witch has undoubtedly evolved, from the days when the Catholic Church condemned wild women for communing with the devil to present-day pop-culture perceptions where witches are beautiful and powerful women like Melisandre from "Game of Thrones, Wanda Maximoff as Marvel's Scarlet Witch, and Netflix teenage witch, Sabrina. While some still hold onto outdated beliefs, Rissa believes society must catch up with the evolving understanding of what it means when women are okay with being called witches.

As promised, we bring you part 2 of our interview with Rissa Miller. If you don't know what Tasseography is, or how it works, and even if you do know, you definitely don't want to miss this episode.
We had an interview with Rissa Miller, and as usual we lost track of time. Before we knew it, 2 hours had passed. So, this is going to be a 2 parter. In the first hour, we cover a range of topics, including Rissa's past lives and regression, and her ghost tour experiences.
On today's episode of the Soul Connection Duo Podcast, we learn all about tea leaf readings from Rissa Miller! Rissa is also an accomplished journalist, freelance photographer, ghost tour guide, and is currently studying clinical herbalism. She holds a deep reverence for plants and the answers they offer, whether as tasseographs in a teacup, smoke in the air, a healing salve for the skin, a plant on the windowsill, or nourishment for the body. Rissa shares her story of returning back into divination practices following her diagnosis of an autoimmune disease and her admiration for the healing power of plant medicine. Rissa explains the history of tea leaf readings and how she was led into practicing these truly incredible readings with her clients. She further describes how a tea leaf reading works, how spirits speak through symbols, and how these readings provide clarity to the seeker and sipper. Rissa has been creating her own symbol language since the age of 16 through her intuitive abilities, which makes her readings so unique. She shares some of the most common symbols that people may see in their tea cups during a reading with her, as well as the meanings behind each of these symbols. Rissa also leads ghost tours and gives history talks at her job with Maryland History Tours. We get to ask our burning questions about ghost interactions and sightings, and Rissa shares some of the experiences that she's had with ghosts. She describes the beauty of ghost tours in that it creates an identity and connection to the history of a place that otherwise doesn't exist; "it leads people into the world of the past". Rissa offers tea, smoke and tarot readings which are available to book online through her website - www.teaandsmoke.com. If you'd like to learn more about divination, magic or collective readings, you can access this information on her YouTube channel - Tasseography by Rissa and can also find her on Instagram @teaandsmoke_byrissa. “Divination to me isn't necessarily about future telling. Our guest in episode #110 is Rissa Miller. She's an editor, herbalist, storyteller, and seer doing both tea leaf reading and smoke scrying. Today we will talk about her unique divination practice, as well as how her past lives have influenced her current path. What we observed:Her path as a seer began in a past lifeSome people will ask for a tea leaf reading because they saw or read about that in Harry Potter or in Outlander booksAstrological signs can be hel[ful in suggesting what kind of reading might be appropriateA gift of a container of loose tea taught her about an old divination practiceSimilar to mediumship, spirit guides often inform the practitionerA seer is someone who can see through the veil, who can see the other side and bring you back clearer messagesSmokescrying is actually one of the most ancient forms of divinationThe space in between incarnations she calls ‘The Meadow” For more info: www.teaandsmoke.comMore episodes on www.closertovenus.com
Rissa Miller has been practicing tasseography, i.e., a tea leaf reading since finding loose tea in her teacup as a teenager. Over the decades, Rissa has honed her methods and refined her language to tell stories in her clients' teacups. For Rissa, tasseography is a very personal divination art. "I learned young how to look through chaos to find order. I call my client seekers because most seek something from me that I'm happy to give. Even when visitors aren't ready to share or are doubters who don't want someone rooting around in their energy, I ask, what keeps them up at night? Tasseography helps me offer insight and guidance." Whether it's reading teacups, smoke trails, or tarot cards, Rissa sees a deep reflection in who you are in the moment as your life exists in the now.

Tasseographer Riss Miller joined Mark and Nicole and gave Mark a tea reading in the latest episode of The Dark Mark Show Rissa grew up in York, Pennsylvania and was fascinated by the vintage architecture and the ghosts within, after studying screenwriting at NYU then photojournalism at Western Kentucky (experiencing the culture shock of being a goth in the deep South) she quickly became an editor of The Baltimore Sun and the then Vegetarian Journal, which is now the Vegan Journal.
