Episode 62: Rock the Cradle Episode 62: Rock the Cradle features the return of Original Transplants Podcast hosts Sarah and Will with new(born) co-host Lucy. Sarah introduces a new podcast segment, "Rock the Cradle," which will focus on parenting and child development on the homestead, including the impact of nursing on infants' microbiomes and immunity. The podcast continues with a visit to the neglected bee yard, where Will is winterizing his sole surviving hive; and to the chicken coop, where brooder hen Mayapple is moulting and an uneasy truce prevails between the old guard chickens Mayapple and rooster Jumpy and newly introduced pullets Kiwiberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, and Nightshade. The edible landscape is winding down after successful harvests of squash, peppers, tomatillos, peaches, persimmon, and figs. Will is gearing up for hunting season and discusses the benefits of scouting, and Sarah is hoping to weed invasive stiltgrass and Canada thistle before putting the gardens to bed for winter. Will closes the podcast with new research about the nature of 'wilderness' from indigenous and industrial society perspectives. How a Mom Can Rock the Cradle and Still Rock the WorldThink you can’t have a career in STEM and raise a family? Dawnika Blatter, PhD, research geologist, worked hard (and feels blessed) to have both the family and the career she always wanted...but it wasn't easy.About Dawnika Blatter, PhD, Research Geologist and FTIR Lab ManagerA couple of years into her post-doctorate degree, Dawnika Blatter had to tell her advisor that she was seven months pregnant with her first child. He responded, "You're not going to take any time off are you?" No, of course not. With no other way to continue her career and simultaneously start a family, Dawnika buckled in and began the juggling act known as being a working mom. Now, a couple of decades later with several academic achievements and publications to her credit, Dawnika is a highly-respected research geologist, lab manager, and professor. She is also a mother of four who looks back fondly on the terrain she traveled to have both a family and a career. The Challenge of Academia for WomenAs Dawnika points out in this interview, careers in academia can be challenging for women, but not because they can't handle STEM subjects or the rigor of the industry. Careers in academia are difficult for women because the time at which a woman will be most marketable in her field is also the time she will need to have children, if she wants them. That collision between career desires and family goals often causes one to slide beneath the other--in geology terms, I think that's called subduction. But Dawnika's advice is simple. "Do both," she says.In this interview, Dawnika shares some of the ways in which she made it work including getting help from extended family, overloading herself with kid activities on the days she could be available, and asking for a few concessions where needed. She also credits her husband with fully sharing parenting responsibilities and valuing her career as much as his own.Choose Something You Love Lastly, a word of advice. In talking to Dawnika, it's obvious she loves her job. Yes, she gets to travel to Mexico, Hawaii, Iceland, and other desirable places. And yes, she gets to ride in helicopters, stand atop great waterfalls, and work alongside remarkable minds. But it's evident she loves what she does because she fought for it.She could have quit when her high school science classes were challenging. She could have quit when she had that first baby. She could have quit--and been one of many women on the leaky STEM pipeline--when she had more babies and had to out earn the cost of childcare in the challenging California economy. She could have quit many times, but she didn't want to.She remembers, "I tried for a short period of time just not working and it was really hard on everybody. I was not happy and not nice to be around and my whole family realizes that everybody is much happier when I'm happy."Now she's encouraging her own children to similarly choose passion over profit when they make career decisions. Her advice is to find "something that you're really interested in and passionate about and just be the best at that thing that you can be. Then the career steps....will fall into place."I totally agree. What You'll Learn in this EpisodeHow Dawnika managed to complete her PhD while having childrenHow she had to put her husband's career ahead of her own at timesWhen to put your career on a back burner to simmerA leap of faith she had to take to advance her careerMost Importantly: How Dawnika has seen the Lord’s hand in her career

Hey Tanner Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I cover the next episode in the Jesse & Becky: A Love Story Series, Full House S4E26: Rock The Cradle, which aired on May 3, 1991. In this episode Becky discovers that she is pregnant, but has trouble breaking the news to Jesse. I really liked this episode and felt it was a perfect way to end Season 4 and leave viewers anticipating what was to come in Season 5. I also felt that a phone call that important should be received in private. How would you like to receive your pregnancy results via a phone call from your doctor or in person? Also the fact that the family was so amped to tell Jesse that he was gonna be a father before Becky could share in what is probably gonna be the biggest moment of their lives in her own way, like they were trying to steal her thunder. You only get to reveal the news of expecting your first child once to your spouse or significant other. You don't get a do over or get that moment back again. So, Tanner fam, I know you're exciting and all, but maybe take a step back and let Becky and Jesse have this. Join me next week when I cover the next to last episode in the Jesse & Becky: A Love Story Series, one of their biggest moments, the birth of their twin sons, Nicky and Alex Full House S5E10: Happy Birthday Babies, Part 2, which aired on November 12, 1991. In this episode In this episode, it is finally Michelle's fifth birthday party. Everyone dresses up. Dj dresses up as Wilma in Michelle's Flintstones themed party. Stephanie dresses up as Betty Flinstone, Danny, is Dino and all of the kids wear cave men clothes. Comet has a dinosaur costume on and Jesse is dressed up as Fred. Just as Jesse plans to go downstairs to celebrate Michelle's birthday, Becky goes into labor... and so does Jesse, but we soon learn that he has appendicitis. Michelle has to cut her birthday short, but she doesn't mind because her new cousins, Nicky and Alex, get to share her birthday. She especially can't wait because triple the birthday means triple the cake! Also at the end of the podcast I have a few book recommendations for you, so if you like to read stick around for a few minutes. Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight A Booty Edit By Mr Turner Eddie Money was born Edward Joseph Mahoney on March 21, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York. Although he dreamed of being a musician, after high school, Eddie decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a police officer. In 1968, after serving as a New York City Police Officer for two years, Money put his law enforcement career on hold to pursue music. He moved to Berkeley, California and began performing at local clubs. Then, in 1976, after changing his surname from Mahoney to Money, Eddie’s fate changed when he was introduced to legendary promoter Bill Graham while performing at one of Graham’s events. The two quickly became close, with Graham serving as both a mentor and manager to Money. Said Graham of Money, “Eddie Money has it all…not only can he sing, write and play, but he is a natural performer.” After signing a recording contract with Columbia Records, Money burst onto the scene with his eponymous debut album in 1977. Fans immediately fell in love with Money’s sound, and the album, which went double platinum, featured hits like “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.” Money followed the success of his debut album with a stream of Top 40 hits, as well as some of the era’s most creative videos for songs like “Think I’m in Love” and “Shakin.” In 1986, Money released Can’t Hold Back, which featured the classic, Grammy-Nominated duet with Ronnie Spector, “Take Me Home Tonight.” The song reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album went platinum and also featured the hit “I Wanna Go Back.” These days, Money continues to delight new and old fans alike at venues throughout the country. Having opened the summer concert season at the famous DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit for nearly 20 years, Money draws fans from all over who are eager to see the legendary musician. Ask any concert attendee and they’ll tell you he retains his signature style and performs with the same passion today as he did more than 30 years ago. In addition to maintaining a busy touring schedule, Money has featured on hit television shows like “The King of Queens,” where he performed for his good friend Kevin James, and “The Drew Carey Show,” where he played Mimi’s ex-husband. In recent years, Eddie has been joined on tour by his daughter, Jesse Money. Jesse, who was on MTV’s “Rock The Cradle,” is a talented and charismatic vocalist who has chosen to follow in her father’s footsteps. While on tour with Eddie, Jesse sings back-up vocals and adds an exciting twist to the duet “Take Me Home Tonight.” Eddie and his wife Laurie also have four sons – Zachary, Joseph, Desmond, and Julian. As the years have passed, Money’s blue-collar brand of Rock n Roll has managed to transcend generations and continues to move audiences today. Along with having sold more than 28 million records, Money’s songs have appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, and have recently been included in hit video games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Guitar Hero.”
ORIGINAL AIRDATE: April 18th, 1988 --- Mac and Jack play father to a baby caught up in a counterfeiting scheme MISSION: When it's mother is forced into hiding by counterfeiters, a young baby is left in Jack Dalton's care. MacGyver, Jack, and Pete do their best to solve the funny money problem while keeping the kid safe. This week's highlights include: Money laundering (Crime) Money laundering is the process of transforming the proceeds of crime into ostensibly legitimate money or other assets. However, in a number of legal and regulatory systems, the term money laundering has become conflated with other forms of financial crime, and sometimes used more generally to include misuse of the financial system (involving things such as securities, digital currencies, credit cards, and traditional currency), including terrorism financing and evasion of international sanctions. Most anti-money laundering laws openly conflate money laundering (which is concerned with source of funds) with terrorism financing (which is concerned with destination of funds) when regulating the financial system. Check out the article on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_laundering. Watch S3E18: "Rock the Cradle" on CBS's website or check the alternative streamability of this episode here.

Elizabeth Kirkwood is BACK for what is easily the slap-happiest podcast we have ever recorded. We're wrapping up season four of the original sitcom, which means we tackle 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', 'The Graduates', and 'Rock the Cradle'. The first episode sees DJ manipulating her cool Aunt Becky so she can lock lips with a boy named Ryan. The second sees Michelle graduating from preschool while Danny tries to fuck a college student (seriously). The third sees Becky getting Eggo Preggo! I know, right, who could have seen it coming? WHO COULD HAVE SEEN IT? Next week we'll return to 'Fuller House', so if you were wondering about that, stop! Our thanks go out once again to Kirkwood, who in this hour shares stories of the wretched Ms. Bird and how she used her charm to manipulate friends. It's nutty, it's zany, and we talk about the Squatty Potty for quite some time. Enjoy! XOXO
We have a great show tonight! I am proud to have Rafael Moreira on the show! Rafael also was part of the house band for Amercian Idol, The Voice, and Rock The Cradle. We take a look at Rafael's solo career, his new band Magnetico, and his diverse guitar playing! A great night of tone, gear, and great playing! And joining me, as my guest co-host, is another great guitar player, Steve Fister, of the Tri-Fecta!

Crosby Loggins is no stranger to Inside MusiCast. Since our ‘07 interview, his world has changed – for the better. After winning MTV’s Rock The Cradle competition and a national record deal with Jive Records, Crosby wasted no time in working on his new album, Time To Move, scheduled to release on July 14th. And although the 28-year-old Loggins reveals plenty of modern tastes, ranging from the grunge-era rock of his formative years to present-day indie faves Feist and Wilco, TIME TO MOVE was designed with a nod to an earlier era, using vintage and organic tones. Join Eddy and Rick as they catch up with Crosby Loggins.
