I really enjoyed talking to Nick and I think you guys are going to feel the same about this episode. Nick grew up in the Al Smith housing projects on Manhattan's Lower East Side. When he was in the fourth grade, his mother was told by the principal of PS-1 that "Nick was unlikely ever to complete high school, so you must steer him toward a simple and secure vocation." Instead, Nick became a writer, with a few stops along the way: a U.S. Army Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division serving in the Viet Nam war, a New York City Police Officer, Deputy Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Deputy Chief Counsel for the President's Commission on Organized Crime; Chief Counsel for the USATBCB; and the Director of the Wisconsin State Public Defender Agency. On the way, he picked up a Doctorate from Columbia University, a Law Degree from Temple University, and was a Pickett Fellow at Harvard. Not bad for a guy whose principal told his parents that he wouldn't amount to much.I found this interview to be so captivating and entertaining. I didn't want it to end. I would see the tears in my mother's eyes, the embarrassment that I caused her, the shame that I brought. She was a New York City Police Officer, but yet had to explain to her colleagues that her two sons were incarcerated for murder. And she was at trial every day. She stuck by me. She came up on the visit practically every month to see Darrell and I. It was that. It was witnessing that. It was seeing that. Jerry explains how he ended up returning to New York City the day before September 11th, and he shares stories from the ensuing weeks.
Brian Worthington was born in New York and raised in Woodside, Queens. He discovered very early on his love for flying. However, he never thought to become a pilot was possible due to a lack of accessibility, resources, and not seeing black pilots. Brian worked as an aircraft service technician at JFK Airport following High School in 1997 just to be amidst airplanes. Only one year later he enrolled himself in the airframe and powerplant aviation maintenance program at The College of Aeronautics and Technology. In 1999, Brian decided to join the United States Army. During his active years in service, he served as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, assigned to the 325th Combat Infantry Parachute insertion fighting force. In 2003 Brian joined the New York Army National Guard and was assigned to the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade where he served as a UH60 Blackhawk Helicopter Door Gunner/Crew Chief. During his eight years of military service, Brian has deployed for combat and peacekeeping missions throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Central America. Never losing sight of his passion for flying, in 2003 Brian began taking flight lessons which resulted in him earning his Private Pilot certificate. Through continuous training, he later earned his Commercial Airplane Pilot Certificate. Brian's dedication to serving his country landed him a job with the New York City Police Department as a Police Officer in 2004, where shortly thereafter in 2007 he earned an honorable discharge from the Military. In 2014 Brian co-founded the NY Metro Chapter of the Black Pilots of America, Inc. He is currently in his second term as the Chapter President. The organization provides training and exposure within the field of aviation. In 2016 Brian founded Flight King NYC LLC, a small business that provides flight training, affordable aircraft rentals, and flight tours around New York City. Due to his hard work, dedication to his community, and extensive experience in aviation, Brian was elected to sit on the JFK Redevelopment Advisory Council with a seat on the education committee. After fourteen years of service as a Police Officer patrolling the streets of New York, in 2018 Brian was accepted into the NYPD Aviation Unit. Now assigned to the unit, he serves as one of New York's Finest Elite Helicopter Pilots. Brian is currently a New York City Police Officer, Commercial Rated Airplane Pilot, Commercial Rated Helicopter Pilot, Aircraft Owner, entrepreneur, minority business owner, CEO of Flight King NYC, LLC, United States Army Veteran, President of NY Metro BPA, and Vice President of Black Pilots of America INC. Dr. Darrin Porcher received his BA in Organizational Management from St. Josephs College, and an MPA from Marist College. In 2012, he received his Doctorate from Fordham University and he is currently a professor of Criminal Justice at Pace University after 20 years as a New York City Police Officer.Dr. Porcher’s Dissertation is titled “Reducing School Misdemeanor Assaults In Urban Settings Through School Collaboration Between School Leaders and Police. The purpose of this study was to identify how urban high schools can improve safety and reduce the number of misdemeanor assaults among students. He retired from the New York City Police Department as a Lieutenant after 20 years of service. In his tenure as a member of the NYPD, Dr. Porcher performed a multitude of tasks. Ten of Dr. Poacher’s 20 years in the NYPD were spent in an investigative capacity as both a Detective and Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, Dr. Porcher directly supervised a team of Sergeants, Detectives and Police Officers in an investigative capacity. This experience entailed investigations into cases involving murder, sex offenses, felony assault, prostitution & human trafficking, robbery and drug offenses.Dr. Porcher is a nationally recognized Criminal Justice expert providing testimony in high profile trials such as South Carolina v Michael Slager. Dr. Porcher regularly travels the country providing expert testimony in various parts of the United States.Dr. Porcher is also a retired Officer with the United States Army Reserve. As a commissioned officer in the Army during a time of war he was tasked with ensuring his unit was prepared in various aspects of counterterrorism. Born in Ukraine under Soviet rule, Serhiy (Gus) Stavynskyy has a vivid and unusual background. Growing up in an authoritarian and often dangerous country left a deep sensibility for justice. Arriving in America on a green card lottery, Serhiy graduated from Columbia University, served as a New York City Police Officer, and acquired a degree from Valparaiso Law School. A retired NYPD/FBI Task Force Supervisor, Sergeant Timothy Gansrow was a Medal for Valor recipient and served with distinction during a twenty-year career that took him from a patrolman in Midtown Manhattan to a leader protecting the City from murderers, cartels, the mob, and terrorists. As a 9/11 first responder, he spent months at Ground Zero, where he contracted cancer, lost his partner, but solidified eternal bonds with his colleagues and the New York City community. Serving your fellow man is one of the noblest ways to find life’s fulfillment. Those who choose a path in service to others can obtain their goals through a myriad of career paths. This is especially true for Timothy Gansrow, who combined his passion in law enforcement and his love of teaching baseball. In his youth, he escaped his abusive upbringing and constant uprooting by channeling his energies into his love of athletics and his burning desire to protect those he felt couldn't protect themselves. His passion for baseball earned him an athletic scholarship where he excelled as a player. He left college after his junior year to chase his life long dream of becoming a major league baseball player. When his size and skill set had taken him as a far as he could go and his time as a player had come to an end, he pursued his other life long dream of becoming a New York City Police Officer. Throughout the entirety of his law enforcement career, whether tracking down some of the regions most hardened criminals along with the countless hours spent refining his craft in private security to building his own security firms, he never strayed far from his love of “The Game”. Whether coaching in college or on the streets of the city where he served his community, he could invariably be found mentoring young athletes in the game he loved. Tim so desperately wanted to share his love of the game with others in hopes that they might have the aspiration to become a better stronger version of their selves. Tim lives in Western North Carolina with his loving and ever supportive wife Tracy of nearly thirty years. Tracy is an accomplished artist and her work can be found throughout entirety of the east coast. Tim and Tracy have three children. Their eldest, Connor, is a 2017 USMA West Point Graduate and is currently a 1st Lieutenant in the Army. He was most recently the recipient of the U.S. Army Ranger School’s Honor Grad. Their son Dylan is a 2018 Academic All-American and is currently a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and pursuing a degree in accounting. Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight A Booty Edit By Mr Turner Eddie Money was born Edward Joseph Mahoney on March 21, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York. Although he dreamed of being a musician, after high school, Eddie decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a police officer. In 1968, after serving as a New York City Police Officer for two years, Money put his law enforcement career on hold to pursue music. He moved to Berkeley, California and began performing at local clubs. Then, in 1976, after changing his surname from Mahoney to Money, Eddie’s fate changed when he was introduced to legendary promoter Bill Graham while performing at one of Graham’s events. The two quickly became close, with Graham serving as both a mentor and manager to Money. Said Graham of Money, “Eddie Money has it all…not only can he sing, write and play, but he is a natural performer.” After signing a recording contract with Columbia Records, Money burst onto the scene with his eponymous debut album in 1977. Fans immediately fell in love with Money’s sound, and the album, which went double platinum, featured hits like “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.” Money followed the success of his debut album with a stream of Top 40 hits, as well as some of the era’s most creative videos for songs like “Think I’m in Love” and “Shakin.” In 1986, Money released Can’t Hold Back, which featured the classic, Grammy-Nominated duet with Ronnie Spector, “Take Me Home Tonight.” The song reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album went platinum and also featured the hit “I Wanna Go Back.” These days, Money continues to delight new and old fans alike at venues throughout the country. Having opened the summer concert season at the famous DTE Energy Music Theatre in Detroit for nearly 20 years, Money draws fans from all over who are eager to see the legendary musician. Ask any concert attendee and they’ll tell you he retains his signature style and performs with the same passion today as he did more than 30 years ago. In addition to maintaining a busy touring schedule, Money has featured on hit television shows like “The King of Queens,” where he performed for his good friend Kevin James, and “The Drew Carey Show,” where he played Mimi’s ex-husband. In recent years, Eddie has been joined on tour by his daughter, Jesse Money. Jesse, who was on MTV’s “Rock The Cradle,” is a talented and charismatic vocalist who has chosen to follow in her father’s footsteps. While on tour with Eddie, Jesse sings back-up vocals and adds an exciting twist to the duet “Take Me Home Tonight.” Eddie and his wife Laurie also have four sons – Zachary, Joseph, Desmond, and Julian. As the years have passed, Money’s blue-collar brand of Rock n Roll has managed to transcend generations and continues to move audiences today. Along with having sold more than 28 million records, Money’s songs have appeared in dozens of movies and television shows, and have recently been included in hit video games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Guitar Hero.”

Retired NYPD Chief of Patrol Nicholas Estavillo is a former member of the New York City Police Department, who became a New York City Police Officer in 1968, and retired in 2007. In 2002, Chief Nicholas Estavillo became the first Hispanic, and the first Puerto Rican, in the history of the NYPD to reach the three star rank of Chief of Patrol. Chief Estavillo is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy. Chief Estavillo is a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps 1964-1967. In 2003, Chief Estavillo was named National Grand Marshal of the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City. Chief Estavillo is the father of four children, and grandfather to six grandchildren.
