Joined today by former light middleweight champion of the world Sadam Ali and co-host, former boxer Will “Power” Rosinsky. This episode was recorded from Sadam'a gym in Brooklyn. We chat about how Sadam and Will met each other, their initial thoughts on each other's skills and how Sadam eating at a restaurant alone got us together. Sadam gets right into it and announces that he's on the verge of a comeback to the ring, we hear why he's coming back, who he has his eyes set and why he's a better boxer now. We go back to Sadam at 8 years old falling in love with the sweet science, idolizing Prince Naseem and his fathers influence on his career and life. We talk about winning the golden gloves, being the first Arab-American to resplendent the USA at the Olympics, meeting Kobe Bryant, and where that Ralph Lauren outfit is. Sadam chats about his 22-0 record, his first defeat to Jesse Vargas and then we talk about his career defining match against Miguel Cotto. We hear how that fight got made, how it felt being an underdog in his own backyard, and when he knew he was going to win the fight. Sadam disappoints me and Will with how he celebrated winning the championship, but we hear about it. Sadam shares about falling out of love with boxing, what he did as a young retiree and how the importance of his dad's support drives him. We discuss his other passion, bowling, and his quest to get a 300, beating a young Terence Crawford and why he wasn't allowed to make any dumb purchases. Will and Sadam talk about the business side of boxing, why “influencers” are a great thing and why boxing is a dirty sport. All this plus a ton more with Will Rosinsky and the Champ, Sadam World Kid Ali. Follow Sadam here https://www.instagram.com/theworldkidali/

MANNY PACQUIAO IS BACK!!!!!!1111! ...that's the refrain, friends. Memorize it before all hope is ripped from us when a Floyd Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch is made. In trouncing a passive and seemingly just plain worn-out Lucas Matthysse, the esteemed Senator Pacquiao was able to tab his first stoppage win in almost nine years. What it means considering the shape of his opponent is tough to say, but it will inevitably keep Manny going a while. But this weekend, Oleksandr Usyk and Murat Gassiev meet in the final of the cruiserweight World Boxing Super Series, which has thus far been outstanding, if somewhat inaccessible to U.S. fans. Usyk-Gassiev is a great clash of two undefeated fighters who can whack, and there should be blood and violence. So that's good. Speaking of violence, Jaime Munguia makes his return to HBO against Liam Smith on the heels of thrashing Sadam Ali just two months ago. The hard-punching junior middleweight looks to be the goods, and toppling Smith in addition to Ali sure would be a solid indicator that he is. On this Mother's Day edition of Beat the Count, Coach & Chris discuss the outcome of the highly anticipated matchup between Vasyl Lomachenko and Jorge Linares, Jaime Munguia's annihilation of Sadam Ali, and MMA star Cris Cyborg calling out undisputed world champion Cecilia Braekhus.
Relax Loma lovers, he's great; can Sadam Ali not fight Andre El Gigante next?; 3 Russells fought last night but only one was televised (vs Diaz Jr); Superman's kryptonite? Any round after 6; will Adonis and Jack run it back before 2020?
That moment is back! Joe & Jesse talk about: Vasyl Lomachenko stuns the live crowd and a game Jorge Linares en route to another stoppage win! Is he the pound-for-pound king right now? Also, Jaime Munguia batters Sadam Ali to his breakout performance. Amanda Nunes makes Raquel Pennington quit on the stool, then batters her for a TKO stoppage to retain, Kelvin Gastelum cleans up another name in Jacare, Mackenzie Dern is too thick for her own good, and we say goodbye to Vitor Belfort. The boys also preview Adonis Stevenson's rare meaningful bout against Badou Jack, and JoJo Diaz taking on Gary Russell, Jr.. We also touch on Kamaru Usman vs Demian Maia and Lee Selby vs. Warrington.
In episode #123 of 'The Neutral Corner' (part 2), Michael Montero and his brother Anthony review all the action from last week. They start with Michael calling the Thompson Boxing card live with Beto Duran Friday night, then discuss Tony Harrison beating Ishe Smith, Devin Haney continuing to develop, Hughie Fury getting back in the win column, Vasyl Lomachenko stopping Jorge Linares, Jaime Munguia destroying Sadam Ali, Rey Vargas defending his super bantamweight title and more. We've hit a nice little groove here in 2018 and there's plenty of boxing stuff happening all over. Last weekend, Vasyl Lomachenko had to peel himself off the canvas to get a body shot kayo win over Jorge Linares on ESPN, and Jaime Munguia announced his arrival onto the 154-pound scene with a dominant stoppage of Sadam Ali on HBO. And now this weekend, Adonis Stevenson and Badou Jack finally meet up on a split-site Showtime card also featuring Gary Russell, Jr.'s showdown with Joseph Diaz, Jr., while Lee Selby and Josh Warrington square off earlier on Saturday. And don't forget the small issue of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and his continued PED saga. This week on Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio, author and filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler and boxing historian Patrick Connor will tell you exactly who to blame if any of this stuff goes bad. Big “Drama Show”? Not really, we’ll recap GGG vs. Vanes and now what should be next the Gennady. Vasyl Lomachenko will move up in weight again and challenge another champion. This time around it will be Jorge Linares who will defend his WBO Junior Lightweight title in New York. Can the naturally large Linares oppose his will on Loma? Or will we see another fighter crumble under the pressure from Vasyl and quit? We’ll will discuss and give an official fight pick. It seems like forever since Sadam Ali fought. Now facing a late replacement in Jamie Munguia, will Ali’s title run be short lived? Plus Tony Bellew showed it wasn’t a fluke Is Mikey Garcia about to commit career suicide Your calls and Tweets
The verdict is in and, despite all of the shenanigans, Gennady Golovkin's quick KO win over Vanes Martirosyan sold like hotcakes on HBO. What exactly that means isn't quite clear, but more Golovkin on our television sets is something most boxing fans seem to want. In the co-feature, Cecilia Braekhus had to battle through a few rough patches to retain her welterweight title over Kali Reis. But the larger story is that with the first women's boxing match on HBO happening without a serious hitch and cleared the way for more. This coming weekend on ESPN, Vasyl Lomachenko takes on Jorge Linares at Madison Square Garden, and for once we get to see if a a Lomachenko opponent is able to hang with him on the boxing front. Over on HBO, Sadam Ali takes on late replacement Jaime Munguia on the heels of sending Miguel Cotto into retirement with a tough loss. Lastly, Montero previews cards on ESPN and HBO this Saturday. At Madison Square Garden in New York City, Jorge Linares defends his lightweight championship against Vasyl Lomachenko, while in upstate New York, Sadam Ali defends his junior middleweight title against Jaime Munguia and Rey Vargas defends his super bantamweight title against Azat Hovhannisyan. Before the start of the show, Steve finds out that Teddy Pendergrass is dead and discusses a work-related venture into Virginia. Brad and Steve talk about not missing the NFL during the 2017 season, why you should never shine a black light on the wall of a Hokie, why Auburn losing is good for everyone, why some colleges are a bad fit in their conference, and the history of great coaches from West Virginia. Steve's new diet and boxing plans for the immediate future are announced, leading into a discussion about the pros and cons of fad diets and artificial foods. On a sad note, we say a temporary farewell to Ronnie, a member of the Apex Combat fight family that is being forced to relocate for work. On a happier note, we justify starting a GoFundMe account for the four-year-old from Harrison County, West Virginia that was reprimanded in his Pre-K class for chanting "Eat Shit Pitt" during snack time and fondly remember the days of carefree youth. Justin "TeddyBear" Novaria joins the show in the second segment to discuss Miguel Cotto vs. Sadam Ali and Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux. Also, stories are told about the arrogance, incompetence, and outright corruption of boxing commissions, and we look ahead to the WBO Middleweight Championship fight between Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux. We recap Miguel Cotto vs Sadam Ali, We also take a look back at Miguel Cotto's career and all the battles he's been through. We also look back at all the legends that retired this year. The countdown is finally over its time for Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux. Who picks who to win?
Vasyl Lomachenko's showdown with Guillermo Rigondeaux is one of the most anticipated fights of 2017. It's a year that's ending with a bang -- or at least we hope so. Lomachenko-Rigondeaux could conceivably end a few different ways, and a few of them could be less-than-scintillating. No matter how it endsm Lomachenko-Rigondeaux matches two fighters with an incredible amount of experience, talent and skill. It's an extremely worthy offering, and getting it on ESPN is awesome. We'll be there. But this weekend also sees perennial "Fight of the Year" participant Orlando Salido square off against Miguel Roman on HBO, with Tevin Farmer and Francisco Vargas in separate bouts on the undercard. There's also a small matter of Sadam Ali's upset win over Miguel Cotto to discuss. Billy C and Sal “Rocky” Cenicola give their thoughts on the upcoming Cotto-Ali fight, as well as the latest boxing news, listener emails, sports scores and more! Alex Pierpaoli presents this week's Blast From The Past, former World Champion Diego […]
We recap the HBO fight card. We breakdown the great fight with Sullivan Barrera. The impact he make in 175 pound division. The return Sergey "Kruger" Kovalev and the destruction he did on Shabranskyy. We take nice look back on Miguel Cottos career. We also take a look at his upcoming match with Sadam Ali.
2017's final month is upon us, and this year has been far kinder to all of us boxing fanatics than previous years have been. And we're still not done! This weekend on HBO, Miguel Cotto fights for (what he says is) the final time, taking on Sadam Ali, who is moving up a division for the clash. It's less-than-ideal, but Cotto is still a massive draw and an important figure in boxing. Whether or not he fights on after this is tougher to know. Last weekend, also on HBO, Sergey Kovalev made a successful return following the Andre Ward debacle(s) by thrashing Vyacheslav Shabranskyy in 2 rounds. The tripleheader also brought us scraps between Sullivan Barrera and Felix Valera, and Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jason Sosa. Both had their share of controversy, per usual. What about the state of the heavyweight division? Deontay Wilder's hopes for presiding over it? Upcoming bouts? We're going there. We know, we know. Everyone is lamenting the fact that we're not getting Keith Thurman vs Shawn Porter this weekend, but there's nothing we can do about it now. But pay attention, because there's still other stuff going on in boxing that's worth talking about. Or ridiculing. Or whining about. It's yet to be determined. But last weekend saw Luis Ortiz sent Tony Thompson packing in the HBO headliner, while Jessie Vargas scored a surprising victory over previously unbeaten Sadam Ali in the opener. Prospect Antoine Douglas also lost his 0 over on Showtime to Avtandil Khurtsidze, while almost-contender Julian Williams scored another win. Lucas Browne picked up some manner of heavyweight belt by defeating Ruslan Chagaev, too. Don't forget that stuff. HBO Boxing Insiders Eric Raskin and Kieran Mulvaney break down Terence Crawford's TKO victory over Hank Lundy and look ahead to Saturday night's Boxing After Dark doubleheader with Luis Ortiz taking on Tony Thompson and Sadam Ali vs Jessie Vargas.
This week on The Ruckus hosts Jeandra LeBeauf (@jethang) Ryan Bivins (@RyanBivins) and Michelle Rosado (@RagingBabe) are joined by welterweights Sadam Ali and Jessie Vargas. The combatants are scheduled to meet on March 5th for the vacant WBO welterweight title in Washington DC. Their title bout serves as the co-feature to the heavyweight showdown between Luis Ortiz and Tony Thompson.
Tonight on The Ruckus, hosts Jeandra LeBeauf, Ryan Bivins and Michelle Rosado are joined by Jesse Vargas and Mauricio Herrera. This week it was announced that Vargas will challenge Sadam Ali for the vacant WBO welterweight title. In case that sounds confusing, news broke this week that now former champion Timothy Bradley will vacate the title in order to fight Manny Pacquiao instead of his mandatory Sadam Ali. Also joining the crew, Mauricio Herrera. Herrera is currently finalizing plans to face off against Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse on the undercard of the upcoming Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan event in May. The show goes LIVE at 7PM. To quote the guy who played Socrates in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives." How that relates to boxing is that fighters get old and whatever. And this past weekend, Sergey Kovalev packed Bernard Hopkins' wrinkly bags for him and showed him the door. Whether or not Hopkins walks through said door is another story entirely. This week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Patrick Connor of The Queensberry Rules welcome to the show Kelsey McCarson of The Sweet Science and Bleacher Report. Apart from the usual boxing discussion (which will included Kovalev-Hopkins, Sadam Ali's victory over Luis Carlos Abregu, the HBO undercard, a Wladimir Klitschko vs Kubrat Pulev preview and more), we'll also be talking about Kelsey's effort to raise funds and awareness for a young boy diagnosed with bone cancer. Big Ben Roethlisberger came to town,he of the back to back six touchdown games. And his Pittsburgh Steelers faced the eight straight games lost in a row,New York Jets. E-Wonder and the Docthah were live again from Met-Life Stadium in East Rutherford,NJ. And when the smoke had cleared two streaks came to a holt.As the Jets topped the Steelers 20-13,stopped their losing streak and cooled off the red hot Big Ben and his streaking Steelers. Michael Vick threw one more TD then Big Ben as his 2 TD toss game led the way. Music heart throb,Justin Bieber had joined the Steelers pray sessionSaturday night, but with Jet safety Jaiquawn Jarett snagging 2 INT's and recovering a fumble, the Steeler's with JJ's defensive play leading he way,Ben and crew didn't have a prayer on this Sunday against Ryan's defensive men in green. And Vick running like a youngster at times it did seem. E-Wonder and Doc were also at the big fight Saturday night in Atlantic City,N.J . Where Sergey Kovalev remained undefeated and won another championship belt with his big victory over fistic icon,Bernard Hopkins. On this night Hopkins the Alien should have never landed as the Krusher did just that all night against Hopkins. Who too didn't have a prayer against the new dad and now undisputed light heavyweight champion.Sadam Ali impressed all on this fight night with his victory over Luis Abregu. We here also salute Jet stars Willie Colon and Nick Bellore whom both earlier in the week traveled up to the Bronx to make both a check presentation and give some football fundamentals to the Pioneer football league.Willie on Monday, led a core of teammates to NYC for a fashion show. Here at,SID,we always, rope the rumors, hog tie the issues and brand the truth. Happy Sweet 16 Nia. *TRUST*IN*GOD If you don't mean what you say,why say anthing?-Doc Stanley
No matter what kind of fight is on the schedule, you can count on promotional companies and other PR entities to come up with gimmicks and weird stuff to get blood pumping. This weekend, "The Alien" (a 50-year-old guy who somehow is still relevant in boxing) meets "The Krusher" (a guy who displaces brain cells with a smile). Because Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev, two quality light heavyweights on HBO, aren't enough. And this week on TQBR Radio, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Queensberry Rules' Patrick Connor probe the ins, outs and what-have-yous of Hopkins-Kovalev. But there's other stuff to talk about, too. Like last weekend's Andrzej Fonfara vs Doudou Ngumbu Showtime card (that also had the absurd Javier Fortuna vs Abner Cotto and respectable Tomoki Kameda vs Alejandro Hernandez), and a few other odd offerings like Felix Sturm vs Robert Stieglitz, Tomasz Adamek vs Artur Szpilka, and the HBO undercard of Sadam Ali vs Luis Carlos Abregu. Thanks for tuning in!
