Sean Bennett is the co-founder of Stronghold, a leading financial infrastructure company that provides fast, secure, and accessible financial services through a simple API. Stronghold, recently named a Forbes Fintech 50 company, makes payments quicker and easier while maintaining regulatory compliance and interoperability between payment systems. Sean is a renowned technology expert in the digital currency space, having designed and executed some of the first distributed cross-border transactions of sovereign currencies. In 2013, Sean started building stablecoin technology on Ripple to streamline the remittances process after experiencing its obstacles firsthand. Passionate about the power of digital currencies, he left medical school in 2014 to found Coinex Gateway. Coinex Gateway empowered consumers to move fiat currency via the Ripple and Stellar networks - in doing so, Sean helped build Ripple and Stellar's first stablecoins (USD, AUD, and NZD). Sean continued innovating on the Stellar network by designing a remittance gateway that could solve the issues millions face when sending money home to their families. There, he met Tammy Camp (who was leading growth efforts at Stellar). They decided to found Stronghold to develop payments and financial infrastructure for all.Sean holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from the University of Otago and a Bachelor's degree in Business from Massey University.Connect with Behind Company Lines and HireOtter Website Facebook Twitter LinkedIn:Behind Company LinesHireOtter Instagram Buzzsprout
Lex interviews Sean Bennett, the co-founder and CTO of Stronghold, a Fintech company. Sean started out as an independent software developer, building software for clients. This experience led him to entrepreneurship and he used his skills to tackle the problem of remittance. He created Coinex, a stable coin issuer on the Ripple network, which allowed people to send money cheaply and quickly. However, early regulatory challenges and user adoption issues meant that the project was not successful. Sean eventually left the project and moved on to his next venture, Stella, a fork of Ripple. Setting the foundations for eventually starting his own company, Stronghold – a DeFi-enabled financial services company for institutional clients. Can we ensure that we will stay true to ourselves even when we know that others loathe us? Sean Bennett discovered that there is a clear fork in the road that we will face at some point in our lives. This came to him as he was a contestant on America's worst celebrity chef. The trick is to know what to do and how to allow others' reactions to affect us and not the other way around. When we do, we get on the happy path to life. The best part - Sean tested his theory on himself…and it worked! He believes the more you give the greater it will come back in return. This in turn will create opportunities.
