Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP You can also watch this episode over on my YouTube channel here! The chaos of the Cobbled Classics is over for another season. From Omloop, through E3 and Wevelgem, Flanders, and then the big one - Paris Roubaix; these are the biggest and best races on the calendar for me, so I was super excited to sit down with Tom Southam and Luke Durbridge to break down this year's edition of Paris Roubaix in this month's Race Communique. This year's Roubaix was an absolute cracker; totally flat out from the gun. Even before Arenberg - where the race used to really kick off back in my day - the bunch was strung out and the real favourites were taking huge chunks out of each other. Tom, Luke, and I run through the riders that really made this race such an epic edition. Of course, it was dominated by Mathieu Van Der Poel on his way to his third victory in a row, but what about Pogačar?! His first go at Roubaix and he's up there rubbing shoulders with the big boys, and I literally mean the big boys; he's ten kilos lighter than most of these guys! Southam made a good point actually; is he going to be carrying some extra timber into the Ardennes that kick off next week? Of course, we also had the women's race the day before. That's something I love about Roubaix; the men's and women's races being on different days means we get a whole weekend of Paris-Roubaix action! What a cool race, with absolute legend Pauline Ferrand-Prévot putting her immense off-road skills to use to become the first French rider to list that big cobblestone since Frédéric Guesdon in 1997. I absolutely loved to see the GOAT herself; Marianne Vos, riding in support of her Visma LAB team mate; for me, that's what makes her a true champion. Obviously, there's been other races going on aside from the cobbled classics. We wanted to talk briefly about the Tour of the Basque country, and for good reason; after a few years in the wilderness, Caleb Ewan is winning at the highest level again. What a move that transfer to Ineos turned out to be! It's so cool to see Caleb getting his hands in the air again, and I think it represents a real shift in mentality at Ineos - who have been looking a bit lost for a few seasons now.  Southam was actually down in the Basque country in the car for EF Pro cycling - who knocked out a stage win with young Ben Healy - so he gives us a quick breakdown of the race in this week's Talking Tactics. Healy's win came after a ridiculous 57km solo move, so this month Tom's talking about the art of the solo breakaway. We see these long range attacks sticking more and more these days; with everyone aero optimised and more and more data and information being fed to riders. Southam compared his view from the car to being behind a rider in a TT, and being able to feed him really accurate cues about the course ahead played a huge part in Healy's win.  Poor old Durbo got a bit cut off in this month's Pelo Chat, so we rolled it in ahead of the Communi-Quiz! Durbo wanted to talk about race programmes, and how the teams decide who's racing where. Of course, the Spring Classics is a savage block of racing; and plenty of riders don't make it all the way to the end owing to sickness or injury, which creates plenty of headaches for team directors trying to pull together squads at short notice.  As always, we wrapped up with the Communi-Quiz. Hosted by Durbo, it's a Roubaix themed ‘Who Am I?'. I've won a stage and the overall at the Tour of Beijing and Paris Roubaix - who am I?.....you'll have to listen to this month's Race Communique to find out. Well, guys, that's the Cobbled Classics done and dusted. The Ardennes are about to kick off to round out a monster Spring of racing which can mean only one thing; the next time I sit down to talk to Southam and Durbo will be in May just before the first Grandy of the year; The Giro d'Italia.  The Race Communiqué is brought to you by TrainingPeaks! The cycling world wondered what would happen to Caleb Ewan this season. Seemingly on his way out of Jayco Alula, where was he going to end up? INEOS swooped in, midway through January, and now have themselves a top level sprinter. Exciting, right? G certainly thinks so, and is delighted the team have signed a close friend. He called him up and, following the move, we thought it was the right time to get Caleb back to talk about it. Why did he leave Jayco? Did he ever consider stopping? What can we expect in 2025? Will he be at the Tour? He answers all of those - and plenty more besides. Enjoy. In the land of ROUVY, a new update went live last week which allows full compatibility with Zwift hardware on the platform. In episode 107, I catch up with the loveable sprinter Jensen Plowright from Alpecin–Deceuninck. We catch up after a long time between drinks, and the result is very entertaining. We discuss the Giro and whether Caleb Ewan will get back to the top step this month, and Jensen explains the stresses of hectic sprint stages. We chat a bit about tech and the end-of-year China races, and I throw Jensen a couple of “would you rather" that I know will have you all in stitches. Enjoy. When, midway through last year's Tour de France, Caleb Ewan ‘celebrated' his 29th birthday, in fact far from rejoicing, the Aussie sprinter was enduring some of the most difficult days of his career - out of form and out of favour with his Lotto-Dstny team, so much so that his boss, Stéphane Heulot, would respond to Ewan quitting La Grande Boucle by questioning his professionalism.  Ewan's relationship with Lotto looked irredeemably broken - and indeed, three months later, Jayco-Alula announced that they and Ewan were to reunite in 2024. Another three months have now passed since that news broke - and Ewan is finally ready to set the record straight, as he did in this in-depth interview with The Cycling Podcast on the eve of The Tour Down Under: on why he and Heulot never hit it off; on whether, as reports suggested last summer, he even contemplated retirement; and, most importantly, on his new beginning with the team where for him it all started.  The Cycling Podcast is supported by Science in Sport. This week on Talking Luft we're taking one last look back at the 2023 TDF, where I took my History of the Tour de France quiz to the masses! Or better put, to a whole bunch of current pros and DS's that I managed to pull aside for a chat on the roadside of the Tour, to put them through their paces - including Caleb Ewan, Mat Hayman, Ian Stannard, Jai Hindley, Luke Durbridge, and Neilson Powless, among others. It required a bit of specialist TDF knowledge, and a bit of historical insight, plus a few just for fun, like whose legs would you want in this year's TDF, would you go full polka dot with the KOM jersey, which is the hardest of the Grand Tours, what does ASO stand for, and can you name the five winners of five or more Tours? I've gotta say, some of the efforts were a bit woeful, and a couple were a little bit controversial, but we had plenty of laughs and I hope you enjoy listening along! Cheers, Mitch

After an enthralling second edition of the Tour de France Femmes finishes with Demi Vollering's overall victory in Pau, these are RadioCycling's headlines...Bigger and better than in 2022, with a stronger, deeper and more competitive field, the Tour de France Femmes built towards a dramatic climax in the Pyrenean mist that will stay in the memory. We get a rider's perspective on the race from French star Audrey Cordon-Ragot.One of the dominant stories of the Tour de France Femmes was the crackdown by the UCI jury of commissaires on riders drafting behind cars when rejoining the peloton after a crash or a mechanical. Race winner Demi Vollering was penalised for doing it, while her Team SD Worx DS Danny Stam was kicked off the race for facilitating this. We examine the historical context for this hardline approach, hear from Stam and a fellow DS, Uno-X's Huub Duijn, who was also penalised, and from AG Insurance Soudal Quick-Step team leader Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, who tells us the rules should be strictly and consistently imposed at all races.Remco Evenepoel's reign as world champion ended with him winning last weekend's Clásica San Sebastián, but the saga of his rumoured transfer away from Soudal-QuickStep rumbles on. Chris Marshall-Bell, who's so well informed on this story that even S-QS boss Patrick Lefevere asks him for the latest developments, provides an update on the those developments. As had been the case at the Tour de France, the issue of motorbikes and rider safety was highlighted on a number of occasions during the Tour de France Femmes. Adam Hansen, president of the riders' association (CPA), details the ways that things could be improved and explains his own invention of a laser-based system that could ensure that motorbikes don't hamper or interfere with racers.  And finally, in Ground Beans...– the latest on the transfer tug-of-war over Carlos Rodríguez– Caleb Ewan and Lotto-Dstny reach agreement on sprinter's future– Irish sprinter Sam Bennett set to move?Support the show

Lance, JB, and George break down Jasper Philipsen's second consecutive sprint victory, which came after an incredibly slow day of racing turned into a thrilling, and dangerous, high-speed bunch finish. The crew analyze how the dominant leadout from Mathieu van der Poel and the rest of his Alpecin-Deceuninck team has made all the difference against a stacked sprint field, and how it stands in stark contrast to Mark Cavendish's isolation in the final few hundred meters. They also touch on the strong form of Caleb Ewan and Phil Bauhaus, and if they can convert it into stage wins, before discussing how the race will change when the peloton heads into the Pyrenees tomorrow. On the road to Saint-Étienne it was not only love that could break your heart, if you were Fred Wright then it was Mads Pedersen who held that ability as he took the stage from the day's breakaway, another great win for a Danish rider. This was one of the only stages between here and Paris that looked like ending in a conventional bunch sprint but that went out the window when Caleb Ewan's heart was broken by a crash that left him nursing a knee injury and unable to regain touch with the bunch. On a harder than expected day, the absence of Caleb's team at the front of the chase meant that the stage swung in favour of the powerhouse breakaway.
