Conjoined twins Chang and Eng Bunker were world famous in the 19th Century, so much so that for a long period other conjoined siblings were commonly referred to as "Siamese twins". Born in Siam (now Thailand), the brothers were taken to America under false pretences and "exhibited." But when the twins turned 21, they took control of their own destiny. This is a comedy/history podcast, the report begins at approximately 04:31 (though as always, we go off on tangents throughout the report). For all our important links: https://linktr.ee/dogoonpod Check out our other podcasts:Book Cheat: https://play.acast.com/s/book-cheatPrime Mates: https://play.acast.com/s/prime-mates/Listen Now: https://play.acast.com/s/listen-now/Who Knew It with Matt Stewart: https://play.acast.com/s/who-knew-it-with-matt-stewart/Jess Writes A Rom-Com: https://shows.acast.com/jess-writes-a-rom-comOur awesome theme song by Evan Munro-Smith and logo by Peader ThomasDo Go On acknowledges the traditional owners of the land we record on, the Wurundjeri people, in the Kulin nation. Plus, Opie gets triggered by Greek culture, memories of Athens, and the relentless obsession with green olives. From the Knicks and Sixers to the Hantavirus cruise ship drama, we're covering it all with a side of Philly Cheesesteaks.
Currencies of Cruelty: Slavery, Freak Shows, and the Performance Archive (NYU Press, 2026) is a bold and incisive reconsideration of the relationship between enslavement, disability, and performance in 19th- and early 20th-century America; a time when transition from slavery to legal freedom became entangled with the spectacle of the freak show stage, where disabled and racialized performers became lucrative attractions. At the heart of this powerful study are conjoined twins Millie Christine McKoy, born into slavery and later emancipated, and the so-called “original Siamese Twins,” Chang and Eng Bunker, who navigated the freak show circuit not only as performers but also as enslavers. Their stories reveal how archival practices surrounding enslavement and performance labor worked in tandem, creating a system where unfree and newly freed bodies were simultaneously valued and devalued—exploited for their spectacle yet rendered abject within traditional labor economies. Blending historical analysis with innovative archival theory, Currencies of Cruelty challenges conventional narratives of labor, freedom, and human worth. A gripping exploration of race, commerce, and bodily spectacle, this book sheds crucial light on how histories of subjugation continue to shape our understanding of value and visibility today. This week Holly is off the chain with the Olympics!
As a new gate opens, the rite continues; our reach into fourth worlds and mystic imagination deepens. The Golden Triangle marks the first chapter of a two-part solo album by Siamese Twins co-founder Sunju Hargun—the first solo release on his label. Two years in the making, this deeply personal work reflects his extensive experimentation, collaboration, and grounding within an ethereal, imaginary universe. Rooted percussion forms the foundation of these tales, with haunting patterns that evoke visions of the past—visions untethered from conventional structures. The album incorporates instruments inspired by the rhythms and grooves of Phlaeng Luk Thung, while capturing the pulse of everyday life in the kingdom of Siam. Recorded entirely in Bangkok at TMM Studios and staying true to the label's spirit of cross-cultural interaction, the album also features contributions from visiting artists. The Golden Triangle is a personal cartography reflecting Sunju's roots, exploring new routes and means of communication toward the cosmic unknowns surrounding him. Today's premiere is the mesmerizing title track, The Golden Triangle, a reflection of Sunju's distinctive style—bridging diverse worlds to craft a realm entirely his own. The track unfolds with a meditative calm, drawing listeners into a serene space where time seems to dissolve. It's a portal to higher consciousness, where every sound floats effortlessly, and the weight of reality slips away. The release also features two outstanding collaborations with GiGi FM and Konduku. The Golden Triangle is set for release on March 1. https://soundcloud.com/sunjuhargun https://www.instagram.com/sunjuhargun Follow us on social media: https://soundcloud.com/itsdelayed https://linktr.ee/delayed https://www.delayed.nyc https://www.facebook.com/itsdelayed https://www.instagram.com/_____delayed https://www.youtube.com/@_____delayed Contact us: info@delayed.nyc
Compilation of all of Karl Pilkington's short-lived, but truly astounding feature: Cheeky Freak of the Week. An off-the-wall segment in which Karl introduces his dearest friends, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, to a random "freak" person with some sort of deformity or abnormality. He never meant to be insensitive or have a go at these people. Instead, he was just utterly fascinated with any kind of oddity or strangeness. Karl's mission is for people to put themselves into a little weird fella's shoes, and ponder what being viewed by society as a freak would be like. Mad, innit? A special RRM episode.
Rerun: Conjoined teenagers Chang and Eng Bunker began their world tour in Boston, Massachusetts on 16th August, 1829. ‘Discovered' by Scotsman Robert Hunter in Siam (now Thailand), the boys inspired the term ‘Siamese Twins', despite being ethnically Chinese. Chang was a heavy drinker, and Eng was a teetotaller - yet they shared a liver. They had faced discrimination in the US, yet became slave-owning plantation owners in North Carolina. Then they married sisters - Sarah and Adelaide Yates. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly reveal the sexual side of the brothers' relationship; explain how the ambiguity of their ethnicity enabled them to climb up through Southern society; and consider the merits of their ‘death cast', now on display in a Philadelphia museum... Temple Rat, the musical alias of the artist hailing from Chengdu, Mei Yuxin, has unveiled her highly anticipated debut EP, 'Composition of Air,' a captivating exploration of ambient and tribal experimental sounds released under the esteemed Thai record label Siamese Twins. Among these gems, 'Dreaming of Electric Sheep' is a mesmerizing piece that transports listeners to a misty early morning at a train station. 'Dreaming of Electric Sheep' begins with an air of mystique, as if a ghost train has arrived to pick up passengers from the station. The atmosphere is palpable, enveloping the listener in a hazy ambiance. As the track progresses, a captivating and beautiful melody emerges, like rays of sunlight filtering through train windows. The melody illuminates the journey, guiding us deeper into Temple Rat's sonic landscape. Temple Rat masterfully employs a low kick drum, reverberating subtly in the background, resembling a heartbeat that pulses throughout the entire track. The rhythm serves as a steady foundation, guiding the listener along the sonic railway. In the latter part of the song, an arpeggiated melody slowly fades in, evoking a sense of anticipation and excitement akin to arriving at a desirable destination. The feel-good vibes this melodic element creates are infectious, leaving the listener with a warm and uplifting sensation. With 'Composition of Air' marking her debut EP, Mei Yuxin showcases her unique artistic vision and talent for blending tribal elements with experimental soundscapes. Released today, May 30, via Siamese Twins, this EP promises to transport listeners to unexplored musical realms. write up by https://soundcloud.com/gilleswasserman https://soundcloud.com/templerat https://soundcloud.com/siamesetwinsrecords https://www.instagram.com/meiyuxinmay/ https://www.instagram.com/siamesetwinsrecords/ www.itsdelayed.com www.instagram.com/_____delayed/ www.facebook.com/itsdelayed

We dive back into history with the remarkable story of Chang and Eng Bunker, more famously known as the Siamese Twins. Born and raised in Samut Songkhram province just south of Bangkok, they had a fateful encounter with a Scottish trader by the name of Robert Hunter - himself an interesting fellow - and their lives were never the same. Siam at the time was little more than a vague backwater “somewhere in Asia” and because of their unique condition, the twins agreed to follow Hunter to the US and go on tour. It was not an easy life, as they fought against racial stereotypes and the fear that people of the time had against anyone with such an unusual condition, but they persevered, learning English and eventually striking out on their own to control their own destinies. This was just the beginning of a remarkable adventure that saw them get into bar brawls, argue with doctors, travel the world, and find fame, fortune and love. Check out the episode of Mobituaries here, which visits one of the Bunker family reunions, as well as this trailer for a TV show called Extraordinary Siamese Story: Chang and Eng. Siamese Twins are conjoined twins. There are about 15 known Siamese twins in the world. Many Siamese twins are perfectly healthy but there are a great deal of health complications due to sharing sets of organs or the extra strain. Buckle the fudge up kiddos cause this one goes off the rails real quick. Ang and Chang bunker were a pair of conjoined twins and that's pretty much all I can say without giving the whole thing away. I don't really know how to write these. I tried reading about SEO because apparently this helps with SEO but it seemed to limited and constrained that it was basically forcing you to just write to an exact template, which functionally makes all writing identical, which therefore pushes you down the search results faster. Thats why the first few sentinces here are just non sequetors that sound like they were designed to directly answer questions typed in to google. The internet rewards vague and uniform design. A 41 year old Limpopo woman has given birth to siamese twins at Jane Furse hospital. The baby girls and their mother have been trasferred to Mankweng hospital. The twins are conjoined on the chest and abdomen. We spoke to Limpopo Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba.
Mogambo knit together a heady, hypnotic sound from the many enigmatic strands of Asia's musical cultures: the deep traditional instrumentations of Siam and India, the high-tech edge of modern Bangkok and the rich Goan bloodline of trance. The results are both otherworldly, yet instantly comprehensible. And now the duo, consisting of producer Sunju Hargun and multi-instrumentalist Jerom Doudet, return with the latest missive from their own aptly-titled Siamese Twins Records: Urvi (उव). The much- anticipated follow-up to their sought-after debut 12” Cobra (कोबरा) is a multi-layered sound bath, as versatile as it is visceral. Urvi ranges from meditative sonic explorations to fearless entrancing rhythms and basslines, tangled together from the mysterious East. The opening track of the release and our premiere for today, "Durga (दुर्गा)," sounds like a start of the journey full of uncertainty but armed with the hope that something good will come out of it. Its positivity sets a good vibe for the rest of the release, which later gets more energetic with "Urvi," "Chakkar," and "Piya" and explores the depths of trance mysticism. Back in 2009, a cult classic film was born along with a fifth season of the year. Join us on a wild ride down Wilkinson Blvd. during the 1960s as we drink a beer that sounds more like a cicerone's rap name and Dru delivers pun after pun that are both terrible and great. A final word of advice: never trust anyone who claims that a person named Myrtle was involved in a crime. And don't forget to send us your ideas for what we should name our Charlotte crime podcast! Filth. Glue. Porno. Trainspotting. All books that have made waves, and all books by Scottish author Irvine Welsh. Like many Scots I know, he has a black sense of humour. And he's a quiet observer; you can imagine him sitting in the corner of a pub, or watching from the street just to see how humans interact. Back in 2014 he came to Australia to speak at the Sydney Writers Festival, off the back of his latest book, ‘The Sex Lives of Siamese Twins'. Given the fact he basically wrote one of the most iconic stories of our generation, of course I wanted him to choose songs, and come in to Take 5. The theme I gave him was “songs that should be books”. He picked classics, but through the prism of his perspective, gave them new life. Lou Reed – 'Kicks' Carly Simon - 'You're So Vain' David Bowie – 'Valentine's Day' Duran Duran – 'Hungry Like the Wolf' Queen – 'Bohemian Rhapsody'
