Say She She is here and I am still smiling from this super fun conversation I had with this stellar trio!! The amazing Nya, Piya and Sabrina have been close friends for ages, and have finally come together in recent years to combine absolutely enthralling vocals with a vibey funk style they've dubbed "discodelic," and it's totally infectious. Their second album, Silver, released in 2023 has set a high benchmark for this expanding genre. Fun times aside, these stellar women have been touring hard and killing it on stages both large and small, as well as massive shows from Glastonbury in the UK to the Hollywood Bowl to Central Park Summerstage. Their stories from the road are indeed epic but even more importantly, Say She She flies the flag for empowerment, diversity and social awareness; they are a band with a higher purpose, if you will. Their recent song, Norma, written in response to the overturning of Roe v Wade has propelled them speak out and raise money not only for reproductive rights, but also for other important causes such as stricter gun control legislation and climate change awareness. Say She She is a bright light of awesome vibes and feel good music, while setting a shining example for new generations of young women. This interview is as inspiring as it is fun, and I'm all in!!

Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast. In this Dhamma session, we examine these teachings of the Buddha titled "one who lives by the Dhamma" (dhammavihārī) from Dhammavihārī Suttas (AN 5.73-74). The Buddha goes through the different ways we develop our spiritual practice (learning, declaring, reciting, reflecting and practising) and where we can fall short. We also refresh ourselves on the importance of learning True Dhamma, the Buddha's learning system and nine-fold classification of the teachings, as well as the important connection with the trainee or learner quality of "bahussuta" or very learned (having heard much). Through understanding what the Buddha is emphasising in these suttas — that is, understanding the meaning of the Dhamma with wisdom and prioritising solitude or seclusion to practise what has been heard or learned to attain to the higher concentrations of mind — we can make spiritual progress and correct any misconceptions we might have around the different forms of practice. We also look into useful examples from the Dhammapada to help us penetrate this Dhamma. Other suttas that are mentioned directly or indirectly in this talk: — Dutiyamārapāsa Sutta (SN 4.5) — Dutiyasaddhammasammosa Sutta (AN 5.155) — Sekha-pāṭipada Sutta (MN53) — Dhammaññū Sutta (AN 7.68) — Appassuta Sutta (AN 4.6) — Piyaṅkara Sutta (SN 10.6) — Dvesahāyakabhikkhuvatthu (Dhp 19-20) — Chattapāṇiupāsakavatthu (Dhp 51) — Dhammānudhammapaṭipanna Sutta (Iti 86) Bohoma pin (much merit) to the person who requested this talk. Mogambo knit together a heady, hypnotic sound from the many enigmatic strands of Asia's musical cultures: the deep traditional instrumentations of Siam and India, the high-tech edge of modern Bangkok and the rich Goan bloodline of trance. The results are both otherworldly, yet instantly comprehensible. And now the duo, consisting of producer Sunju Hargun and multi-instrumentalist Jerom Doudet, return with the latest missive from their own aptly-titled Siamese Twins Records: Urvi (उव). The much- anticipated follow-up to their sought-after debut 12” Cobra (कोबरा) is a multi-layered sound bath, as versatile as it is visceral. Urvi ranges from meditative sonic explorations to fearless entrancing rhythms and basslines, tangled together from the mysterious East. The opening track of the release and our premiere for today, "Durga (दुर्गा)," sounds like a start of the journey full of uncertainty but armed with the hope that something good will come out of it. Its positivity sets a good vibe for the rest of the release, which later gets more energetic with "Urvi," "Chakkar," and "Piya" and explores the depths of trance mysticism.
