Ever have your hot date ruined by some lousy ass entity? Riker feels your pain in “Silicon Avatar.” It's another all-new episode of ST:TNGeez Not Another Star Trek Podcast and it's coming at you right about . . . What starts as a lovely day on a beautiful new colony quickly becomes a terrifying race for survival as Riker and the Away Team are helping to settle Melona IV when the Crystalline Entity strikes! Remember the Crystalline Entity from season one's “Datalore”? It's back and cock- blocking Riker! The Enterprise D decides it's finally time to do something about this genocidal snowflake, and welcomes Dr. Kila Marr, a Xenologist and expert on ole Crysty. Seems the doctor has issues with Data because her beloved son, Renny, was killed when Crysty destroyed Omicron Theta at the behest of Data's errant twin Lore. She gets over it once she realizes all her hate is being spewed in futility. It also helps that Data has a repository of her son's journals in his computerized noggin. Soon the two are working together to find Crysty and confront it once and for all, but to what end? Seems Picard wants to chat with the thing while Dr. Marr wants to pop a cap in this punk ass entity once and for all. Awkward! Will Picard be able to convince everyone that Crysty deserves a chance? Will Dr. Marr take a chill pill and learn to love the alien? Will Riker ever get another chance at the late colonist's promise of dessert? Find out in this exciting episode of ST:TNGeez, Not Another Star Trek Podcast! Even more available at: https://tngeez.com

I know what some of you are thinking, but this is "Silicon Avatar," not "Silicone Avatar." Now before half of you leave in disinterest, I will say that the title is referring to everyone's favorite character, Mr. Data, so that's got to count for something. He does get the best episodes, after all. Or does he? I suppose we'll find out after we watch today's episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Episode discussion starts at 18:09. This is episode 10/15 in our look at The TNG Glory Years. Hosted by Jaron Hatch, Aaron Cole, & Markay Lewellyn. Fractal fuckery abounds! Data has a whole bunch of memories in his positronic brain, and he's going to share it all with our guest star, but before we get to that, Riker's got a hot honey colonist to woo. But dang, she dead. Thanks, Crystalline Entity, for the ultimate cock-block! In comes the expert on crystals and white whales, played by Ellen Geer. She's not here to talk to Data, but ends up hanging out with him the most anyway. She realizes he's got her son's memories and then almost makes out with our fully functional android friend. We meet a new friend and crewmember! Ensign Ro originates the Bajoran people who will come to be a huge ass part of the Star Trek canon. Michelle Forbes returns, having been the daughter in "Half a Life" and knocks Ro's dangerousness and fierceness right out of the park. We learn the Bajorans are a proud people who are down on their luck and that Ro has got some crosses to bear. Luckily, Guinan comes in to guide Picard to trust Ro against the Cardassians, and then she gets a job on the Enterprise. Done and done! This week, the Enterprise catches up with its old friend the Crystalline Entity. Later they deal with the aftermath of being in a space earthquake.
Silicon Avatar! Who would've guessed that the Crystalline Entity would ever come back? Well, I guess Marvin did since he already saw the episode before, but Ricardo, Sara, and Dan didn't!
On this weeks episode, Shawn's a little upset about the Quantum Leap reboot and that they didn't use his idea. He's not sure about the reboot (spoiler: He has since seen the show and actually likes it!!!!). But just because NBC/Universal didn't listen to us, it's not too late for you Paramount/Viacom, to get in the Warped business with "Star Trek Babies". Have your person call ours. We also discuss whether a video game can be funny, plus the latest installment of our classic new segment "Opossum News" Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Tampoco sufráis por Riker, superará la muerte de Carmen Davila de aquí a dos episodios en Risa.
Today,* We test the limits of how far off topic we can go.* Data once again charms a very confused woman. And we ask the question, "Would you want to be a colonist on a new planet?"

Riker's awkward seduction is interrupted by the crystalline entity which devastatingly transforms a colony which looks surprisingly like a California park into a matte painting. The post First Contact: ‘Silicon Avatar' Season 5 Episode 4 appeared first on The Spoilist.
Jesse Bailey joins the gang to discuss nubile prospects and murderous mommas in "Silicon Avatar." Riker is down to play house, Picard doesn't get a cardigan, and Troi's not needed. Bobi perfects her crystalline entity impression, Rob gets a new nickname, Cameron uses the wrong emphasis, and Jesse ups his beard game. All this plus a musical game of "Nursery Crimes." Welcome Stephanie Edd @stephanieedd to the show. The crystalline entity is back with a vengeance. But so is Dr. Marr. Is it an intelligent life or simply a destroyer of worlds?
In this episode, we meet some truly unique species--and the scientists who want to murder them. We'll try to communicate with them all, big and small, as we compare the TNG episodes "Evolution" and "Silicon Avatar".
"Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off Nathan and Dean open with a deep dive into the finer points of Star Trek's post scarcity economy. Does one have to pay child support? Would we pursue lofty goals? Or would we just disappear into dark basements to play Warhammer? As to the episode proper, Riker shoots down to a planet, wine in hand, hoping to get lucky, but the Silicon Avatar shows up to cock-block his best efforts. After the scorching of the surface and the destruction of the colony, the Enterprise crew does what it does best, debates the use of force against a monster that's destroyed upwards of 16 colonies. I present to you, Silicon Avatar, from Star Trek: The Next Generation." TVC 551.6: Ellen Geer, artistic director of Theatricum Botanicum, talks to Ed about playing Sunshine Doré in Harold and Maude (and, years later, Maude in a stage production for Theatricum); working with Patrick Stewart in the “Silicon Avatar” episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation; and playing Sue Ellen's doctor in the famous two-parter on Dallas that culminated in the birth of John Ross Ewing III. The 2021 summer season of Theatricum Botanicum is under way right now and includes productions of two Shakespeare plays, Julius Caesar and A Midsummer's Night Dream, and a new play, The Last, Best Small Town by John Guerra, every weekend through Sunday, Nov. 7. Under the Oaks, Theatricum's annual Friday night salon series, runs from Sept. 3 through Sept. 24 and includes Beau Bridges and his daughter, Emily Bridges, in a staged reading of their play, Acting: The First Six Lessons; an evening of Beatles songs performed by the Theatricum players; and more. Seating for all performances will remain socially distanced, while masks will be required as recommended by the CDC and L.A. County on the day of each performance. Trek TV - The most ambitious Star Trek podcast on the internet!
#199 In this episode of Trek TV we discuss Star Trek: The Next Generation S05E04 - "Silicon Avatar". Hosted by Tracy and Vaughn. Guest starring Derek & Jared. Call her Kila. She's a tough-talkin', revenge seekin' scientist whose tongue is as sharp as her computer skills, and she's here on the Enterprise to chew out androids who look like the one that led the Crystalline Entity to vaporize her son, and kick said Entity's ass after it just got caught red-handed vaporizing Riker's latest dry curry-loving dish, and she's all out of... oh wait, she's got an entire Data right there! But she hasn't counted on two things: that the brother of said son-murdering conspirator would actually be really helpful (kind of stupid to not expect, honestly), and that he'd also contain a vague simulacrum of said son with his final thoughts, feelings, and even the ability to reproduce his voice (probably fair not to have expected that). Obviously, this tale of devastatingly tragic loss and a single-minded quest for vengeance spanning decades can only end happily for all involved, so we hope we don't ruin the mood with our somber relevant discussions of the origins of bologna, the shocking lack of niceties available to Federation settlers, inexplicable bridge security failings, spiny anteater genitalia, and some amount more! We just hope that before you mercilessly destroy us, you'll at least try to communicate with us first about this particularly dark and depressing episode of Trek TV! Speaking of which, content warnings for: a brief discussion regarding suicide, and a not-brief-enough attempted reproduction of the "Brown Note". Visit our website for fan art, news and more!
In a kind of sequel to our last episode, we discuss the end of the Crystalline Entity, uh, saga? Can something be a saga if it's only in two episodes and then mentioned a couple other times? Regardless, Ryan and Brady talk about a great guest star turn, a dark ending for a TNG show, and mull the classic question: Why isn't Riker creepy? This episode is a little on the short side, but we pack in some very fun discussion.
Jason Marsden, Grimp from "Star Trek DS9" Growing up, it wasn't unusual for me to hear the voice of Jason Marsden in something I watched. Whether he was off-screen performing VO in a cartoon or acting on-screen, Jason has an amazing career that started at a young age and continues today. Trekkies may remember Jason from his appearances as a Ferengi named Grimp in the "Star Trek DS9" episode "Bar Association," where he joined Rom's efforts to unionize the employees at Quark's bar. If you're like me, you noticed his voice in an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," where he was the voice of Raymond Marr in "Silicon Avatar," a role he was not credited for (which Jason learned during this interview). Jason has performed in over 200 shows and movies besides his time in Trek, and we discuss a few, including "A Goofy Movie," "Boy Meets World," "Hocus Pocus," "Static Shock," and the infamous "Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue" just to name a few. Also, hear all about being a Ferengi and working with Max Grodenchik, Chase Masterson, Armin Shimerman, and a great story about Jeffrey Combs and many other great tales from a truly memorable career, one that filled me with nostalgia and joy! 14.
Susan Diol's acting career spans dozens of TV shows and theatrical works, but Trekkies know her best as the Vidiian hematologist, Dr. Danara Pel, from two episodes of "Star Trek: Voyager" titled "Lifesigns" and "Resolutions." Before her time on Voyager, she appeared as a scientist named Carmen Davila on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" in "Silicon Avatar." However, her character didn't make it past the opening act for reasons you'll understand when you watch the episode. Susan was also one of the actresses initially considered for the role of Captain Janeway. Throughout her career, Susan has worked with Andy griffin, Dick van Dyke, Megan Mullaly, John Larroquette, Candace Bergan, Jerry Seinfeld, and Mark Harmon, to name a few. She has performed on Broadway and in LA and worked with some legends in the theater. We discuss her time on TNG and VOY, including her memories of Robert Picardo, wearing the heavy makeup and prosthetics to become a Vidiian with the Phage, and how some of her memorable scenes came together. Sci-fi fans may also remember her on Quantum Leap, as she was part of an alternate ending for the series finale, which we spend some time reminiscing about, too, along with other roles. Plus, acting onstage with Uta Hagen, Victor Garber, and John Cullum, stories of character actor Roy Brocksmith who Trekkies may remember from the TNG episode "Peak Performance," time with Chuck Norris while filming "Walker, Texas Ranger," her two-parter on "Night Court" where she almost married Richard Moll, and her date with Brent Spiner! Yes, we are spilling the tea! Don't forget to subscribe to the show and leave a rating if you like us! This year, your SSHB cast is thankful for usable audio! Yes, something went a little hooey this recording so the track is a bit...rough-sounding, even for us. We've done our best to smooth out the rough edges, but we are aware and sorry that it's a bit funky this week. But what's going on in the shows? Well, first up Data suddenly has old colonist memories again as a relative of one of the long-dead arrives to study a new Crystalline Entity attack in "Silicon Avatar". After that, there's too many plots to keep track of after the "Enterprise" hits a quantum filament in "Disaster". Also this week: Caitlin makes it weird, a subtle sponsorship request, and totally sly recording orders. Also also: yes, this week's title only refers to one episode, which we usually avoid, but tell me YOU could resist "Midworf". Thought so. Timestamps: synopses: 0:27; Silicon Avatar: 12:16; Disaster: 37:07
Oh my GOD, that's a terrible joke, who lets me write these? Anyway, we're talking Star Trek: The Next Generation this week, as a giant snowflake comes back for seconds in "Silicon Avatar," the Enterprise turns into The Towering Inferno in "Disaster," and Riker's boner almost destroys the galaxy (seriously) in "The Game." Elsewhere, Elementary's sixth season comes to an end, which was a surprise to us, but not half as surprising as it was to the people writing it.

Tapestry Commentary. The Next Generation often reached back to its early seasons to develop later stories, from the season one episode "Datalore" leading to season five's "Silicon Avatar" and season one's "The Battle" continuing all the way to season seven's "Bloodlines." In season six, an entire episode was devoted to a single story Captain Jean-Luc Picard shared with a young Wesley Crusher in the season two episode "Samaritan Snare." In "Tapestry," Q appears to a surprised Picard who has "died" due to his artificial heart, and allows Jean-Luc to "Back to the Future" to his young, wild, and wreckless past. Daniel, Darren, and Phillip provide commentary for this episode, debating the reality of Picard's experience, how they wished Nausicaans made more appearance throughout Trek, and how the evolution of Starfleet uniforms fit into the in-universe timeline. Prepare to get drinks thrown in your face by "handsome" people as Earl Grey provides commentary to the episode "Tapestry." Season Five Overview. The Next Generation peaked during its fifth season, featuring its highest viewer ratings and the long-anticipated return of a main cast member from the originalStar Trek. The season begins by completing the Klingon and Romulan-focused two-parter "Redemption," and then covers new ground with a metaphor-speaking alien species ("Darmok"), the introduction of a new featured character ("Ensign Ro"), and a multi-story episode in "Disaster." Fans of both Star Trek generations finally received their wish with the return of Spock to the television screen in the two-parter "Unification." This was unfortunately the same year that Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry died. However his legacy lived on in season five as it sought new perspectives on established TNG characters with the returns of Lwaxana Troi ("Cost of Living"), Wesley Crusher ("The Game" and "First Duty"), and the Borg ("I, Borg"). Captain Jean-Luc Picard was faced with one of his greatest challenges in the critically acclaimed "The Inner Light," while the season ended with fan-debated episode "Time's Arrow, Part 1." Join Daniel Proulx, Darren Moser, and Phillip Gilfus as they put on their brand new captain's jackets and examine the fifth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Some of the smooth polished edges have been worn down in the four years the Enterprise-D has been traveling the stars, but “Ensign Ro” gives us a titular character with a checkered past and a dislike of all our regular characters. Another guest star has a checkered past in “Silicon Avatar” and it’s a giant space-faring crystal. ...
