You may remember a band called Sleep Signals, if not that's OK, they broke up last year. But, lead singer Robert Cosgrove is back with a new project called Eyes Like Midnight. It's a completely different take on the kind of music Robert loves to create and with no rules in place, they are set to make their mark on the unsuspecting rock world. This band is so new they haven't even played a major concert yet. That changes at this year's Rockfest in Cadott, WI which is only 30 minutes from where Robert grew up. Yes, that means we are both Wisconsin boys, so you know I had to shed some homestate love. Don't sleep (no pun intended) on this new band. It's time for some new music discovery with Robert Cosgrove of Eyes Like Midnight.

Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Sean is a musician and singer with Midwest roots who has been active in the rock and metal genres for nearly a decade. He currently plays bass in hard rock mainstays Otherwise, in addition to releasing his own solo music under Sean Fitz. On October 6th, Sean just dropped his latest single entitled "HALO," an alternative rock anthem that's an earworm for pop punk and emo music fans. The single was mixed and co-written by Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills, who Sean has been writing solo material with since 2020.  In this episode, Sean speaks with Mike about how he got into heavy music, their shared Midwest roots, getting the opportunity to play gigs with the likes of the aforementioned Ice Nine Kills, Atreyu, Memphis May Fire, and Hellyeah in his former band Sleep Signals, writing music with Armellino and his friends in City Of The Weak, getting the opportunity with Otherwise, and more. Minneapolis hard rock quintet, Sleep Signals, have garnered a dedicated following through relentless touring, their explosive live performances, and their ability to blend catchy hooks with their high-energy songwriting style. In 2021 the band released a new EP, "Ethereal," featuring the single, "Fireproof," which garnered the band's first commercial radio success. The single was featured on Sirius XM's Octane and received spins on 80+ US FM radio stations, spending 11 weeks on the Billboard Active Rock radio chart. Unfortunately, 2021 also saw the band experience a severe bus accident on tour with POD, From Ashes To New, and All Good Things that left several members in the hospital and rehabbing injuries for months. The band released the music video for "The Return" on June 10, 2022 to commemorate their comeback from the accident and look to get back to the touring circuit as soon as late 2022. Founded in 2014, the band hit the road in early 2015 and has since played over 500 shows in 45 states. Prior to the accident, the band was coming off of major full US tours with heavy hitters Hellyeah and Nonpoint, as well as Atreyu, Memphis May Fire, Ice Nine Kills, All That Remains, Attila, Escape the Fate, and Like A Storm. https://www.facebook.com/sleepsignalshttps://www.facebook.com/JTP2014project-kraken.myspreadshop.com https://www.facebook.com/JTP220https://www.unrestrictedradio.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/allthingscoffeehttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086490460881 Brees Knees coffeehttps://www.facebook.com/groups/754567185282476 Dazzling Nails with Gail

We had the pleasure of interviewing Marcos Curiel of P.O.D. over Zoom video! P.O.D. — Sonny Sandoval [vocals], Marcos Curiel [guitar], Traa Daniels [bass], and Wuv Bernardo [drums] — have announced their upcoming summer and fall tour plans. The band will embark on a headline tour of the U.S., celebrating the 20th anniversary of their landmark, multi-platinum album Satellite. The tour kicks off August 14 and runs through October 7 in their native San Diego. From Ashes to New, All Good Things, and Sleep Signals will also appear. All dates are below. Tickets are available here."We've been touring and working hard for almost 30 years now," Sandoval says. "It's all we know. This past year has really made me realize how much I love what I do and how much I appreciate that I am still able to make music and play live for all of those who are still listening. Thank you to all of you who still love live music and can't wait to be a part of the P.O.D. experience. We can't wait to see all of your beautiful faces out on the road."Curiel shares the sentiment, saying, "It's been way too long. We are beyond excited to get back to the stage — where we provide the rock and you provide the roll. From familiar faces to new ones, let's get back to what we've all been waiting for. We are ready as a band to create new memories with you all. Let's do this! Peace, love, light, and rock 'n' roll."From Ashes to New's Matt Brandyberry weighed in about the tour, saying, "In 2001, we were literally 'The Youth of the Nation' and P.O.D.'s hit was an anthem to so many of us. Satellite was an album that helped shape a genre and will go down as one of the greatest records of that era. We are honored to join them on this U.S. tour to help celebrate 20 years of an absolute masterpiece." Additionally, P.O.D. will drop the SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION as a double-CD and digitally on September 3 for $24.98 through Rhino. It is available for pre-order now. Releasing a few days before the album's official anniversary on September 11, the 27-song collection introduces a newly remastered version of the original album, plus a selection of rarities, remixes, and four previously unreleased demos, including "Alive (Semi-Acoustic Version)," available today. A few weeks later, on October 8, SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION will be released on vinyl as a double-LP as a part of Rhino's Rocktober campaign.  After debuting at #6 on the Billboard 200, SATELLITE went on to sell more than seven million copies worldwide, including three million in the U.S. The record generated four singles: the title track, "Alive," "Youth of the Nation," and "Boom." In addition to its commercial success, Satellite also earned P.O.D. three Grammy nominations for: "Alive" (Best Hard Rock Performance, 2002), "Portrait" (Best Metal Performance, 2003), and "Youth of the Nation" (Best Hard Rock Performance, 2003).  SATELLITE: 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION has a bonus disc that includes b-sides like "Critic" and "Sabbath" that were initially released in Europe, plus remixes for "Boom" by The Crystal Method and "Youth of the Nation" by Mike$ki.  P.O.D. A major thing to get right when it comes to getting the high quality sleep that we deserve is to set clear sleep signals. This is a thing that nature took care of for us until we started to completely control our daily environments. Electricity gives us the freedom to turn night into day and the self-made need for productivity leaves us with working hours that are not always biorhythm friendly. In this week's episode, we'll walk through a couple of things that we can do to set clear sleep signals helping bringing us back to superb sleep. https://www.sleeptrust.eu/sleep-signals-to-fix-your-sleep-schedule/

One of the longest running insect pollinator surveys in the world, shows that a few generalist pollinators are on the increase, whereas specialist insects are declining. Using data collected by volunteers across Great Britain to map the spatial loss of pollinator insect species, the study by the CEH (Centre for Ecology and Hydrology) measured 353 wild bee and hoverfly species across the country. The results showed that on average, each 1km2 survey patch lost an average of 11 species from 1980-2013. CEH's Professor Helen Roy and Dr Claire Carvell explain to Marnie Chesterton how volunteers can take part in the next survey. Want to know where a whale has been? Just ask the barnacles on its head! Barnacles hitchhike on whales, and they’ve been doing this for millions of years. When barnacles grow they add to their carbonate shells using compounds from their surroundings. As the whales migrate, the barnacles take up compounds from the different oceanic locations. A bit like filling in a travel diary, or collecting passport stamps. If you can decipher the chemical code laid down in the barnacle shells, you can work out where the whale has been on its oceanic migrations. This is what researcher Larry Taylor, at University of California Berkeley, has been doing and he says that the information can even be found in fossilised whales (and barnacles.) The patterns signals in our brain make when we are falling asleep are quite hard to study. But thanks to a few people who manage to fall asleep in an FMRi scanner, we now know there are multiple stages of sleep. Professor Morton Kringlebach, a professor of neuroscience at the University of Oxford likens the pattern of brain activity, as it enters the various sleep stages, to the choreography of a dance. His friend, Dr. Milton Mermikides at the University of Surrey, goes one further. As a composer and academic expert in jazz, he thought the pattern of brain activity was like chord changes in jazz music. So he put the sleepy brain to music. Marnie listens to the soporific tones and asks if people with disordered sleep, such as insomnia or restless leg syndrome would make different music? Producer: Fiona Roberts
