In this episode, Dr. David Jockers sits down with Dr. Sara Pugh, who holds a PhD in molecular mechanisms and was the first board-certified quantum biologist, for a conversation about the health input almost nobody is optimizing: light. Quantum biology, as she explains it, is simply looking at health through light, water, and magnetism, with a heavy focus on the mitochondria and the electrons that carry our life force. You will learn why the specific blend of red, blue, and violet light at sunrise sets your body clocks and switches on hormonal cascades in the pituitary gland, why glass blocks roughly half the red light and all of the grounding benefit, how UVA builds the serotonin you will convert to melatonin later, and when UVB is actually available to make vitamin D from cholesterol. Dr. Pugh and Dr. Jockers also dig into the sunscreen and sunglasses debate, the dietary strategies that build real sun tolerance, and why DHA is a quantum molecule that can turn light into electricity and back again. From there the conversation turns to Dr. Pugh's nine-day water fast, why she ended it a day early when her leptin came back at 0.7, what refeeding after an extended fast actually requires, and how sauna, cold plunges, and other hormetic stressors build resilience when the dose is right. Idaho's Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program is helping students, especially in lower-income areas, try fresh foods they may not have access to at home. Educators say the program is improving eating habits, expanding food awareness, and encouraging kids to feel more confident trying new, healthy options.
In a rare interview, Greg Ginn opens up about the latest Black Flag lineup, the SST catalogue, the possibility of long-overdue reissues and the legacy of one of punk's most beloved bands. Tickets for Black Flag's 2026 Australian Tour Topics Include: Greg Ginn is based in Texas but currently in Long Beach after a tour. Black Flag is heading to Hong Kong and then Australia next. This will be Black Flag's third tour of Australia. Rumors of new recordings remain unconfirmed — Ginn stays tight-lipped. The current lineup has been together for about a year. Band plays nearly two hours a night across two full sets. Proximity of bandmates in Texas keeps the band constantly tight. Ginn discovered punk through the Stooges, MC5, and New York bands. Television, Ramones, Blondie, and The Damned were early major influences. Ginn identifies more with open, varied 70s punk than 80s hardcore. He never planned to be in a band — guitar was a personal outlet. Finding like-minded people in the mid-70s was genuinely rare and meaningful. Ginn started a business at 12 selling ham radio equipment he built. He published his own amateur radio magazine as a teenager. Black Flag's first EP was recorded as a demo, not a label release. Nobody wanted to sign them, so starting SST was a reluctant default. Ginn has applied the same DIY experimentation to an organic fertilizer brand. He gets bored easily and improvisation is central to keeping music alive. Ginn stays connected to a song's emotional meaning, not just its notes. Seven band members once lived in a single room during Black Flag's peak. Lineup changes were mostly practical — commitment and lifestyle demands were extreme. Ginn isn't interested in nostalgia-driven reunions; best music matters most now. Fans frequently thank him personally for helping them through difficult life periods. He avoids fiction, movies, and video games — prefers reality and constant learning. SST vaults are mostly bare — nearly everything recorded was officially released. Ginn is open to remastering but skeptical of padding albums with leftover cuts. He notes Dead Kennedys recently remixed Fresh Fruit — and wants to hear it. Ginn doesn't own a working turntable; portability matters more to him than format. SST catalog reissues — including Stains, Dicks, Overkill — are a genuine possibility. Ginn believes Black Flag's songs remain timeless, attracting both parents and their kids. From the start, Darius says the vibe with Lien felt easy. They met at a Vietnamese restaurant in San Jose, bonded over growing up in the Bay and swapped stories about family, travel, and their favorite foods. The night ended with them sharing fresh fruit from a street vendor on the sidewalk, which Darius thought was a cute, low key moment. She texted that she had fun too. But by the next day, she disappeared completely.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Jewish festival of Tu b'Shevat begins this Sunday. The new year for trees. Some people feel it's the Jewish version of Earth Day: a day to care for the environment. While much of Canada is still in the deep freeze of winter, the people who run Vancouver's Jewish Community Garden are itching to get their rubber boots on soon, and go up to the rooftop of the two-storey parking structure located between Congregation Beth Israel synagogue and the VTT, The Vancouver Talmud Torah, where the garden is located.. This spring, the garden will begin its third season of growing food and flowers for programs at the shul, and school, as well as for clients of Vancouver's Jewish Family Services, and hosting dozens of volunteers–all the while teaching environmentalism and food security through a Jewish lens. When the garden was officially opened in the spring of 2023, we interviewed the team behind the idea, likely the highest Jewish community garden in Canada. The episode originally aired May 31, 2023. The Vancouver Jewish Community Garden had its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 28, 2023, a fitting debut for the $200,000 initiative. On North Star (formerly The CJN Daily), we're joined by the organizers: Congregation Beth Israel's Rabbi Jonathan Infeld; Emily Greenberg, head of school at VTT; and Tanja Demajo, executive director of Jewish Family Services in Vancouver. Ep. 396 In Episode 396, Ken and Dave discuss the ongoing shutdown, UPS's DC-11 crash, the big Blue wins, cutting down flights, one trillion dollars, cutting the fat, SCOTUS taking on tariffs, and Nancy hanging it up. Current Events & Politics The Government Shutdown: Entering week six, the longest ever. Discussing the impact on federal workers like TSA agents and soldiers (citing the closure of a chow hall at Fort Leavenworth). There is a proposal being offered to reopen the government and extend ACA premium tax credits for one year. Temporary Government Measures: Examination of how government "emergency" actions, such as the creation of the TSA or temporary bonuses, inevitably become permanent, noting that the Income Tax was also supposed to be temporary. New York City Mayor: Discussion of Mayor-elect Montani Montani, who won the election but immediately sought fundraising for his transition team. Concerns were raised about his lack of professional experience, his communist ideology, and the potential consequences of his policies, such as free buses leading to safety issues. Nancy Pelosi Retires: Longtime Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is retiring after 40 years. Reflecting on her historical role as the first female Speaker of the House and the perceived corruption associated with long tenure in Washington D.C. Dick Cheney's Passing: Noting the death of former Vice President Dick Cheney, highlighting his historical significance in expanding the power and influence of the Vice Presidency. Economics & Consumer Issues Food Prices & Thanksgiving: Highlighting outrageous food prices, particularly meat (rib eyes over $20/lb), but noting conflicting stats on the average cost of Thanksgiving dinner this year. Blaming ethanol subsidies for driving up feed costs and food prices. SCOTUS and Tariffs: The Supreme Court held a hearing on the legality of tariffs imposed by former President Trump, who cited the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Most judges viewed tariffs as taxes, suggesting the ruling will likely strike them down 9-0, which is predicted to boost the economy and consumer confidence. American Finances: Observation that many Americans lack cash reserves and are increasingly financing basic necessities, even with predatory 0% financing deals that inflate the final cost. Georgia Politics & Local News Local Elections: Several municipal races were extremely close, including the Jefferson mayoral race, which was decided by one vote, emphasizing the importance of voting in off-cycle elections. PSC Losses: Georgia Republicans lost two seats on the Public Service Commission (PSC) to Democrats Alicia Johnson and Peter Huard, leading to concerns among Republicans about the state "going blue." SPLOST Failure: A local SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) failed in one county, which is described as highly unusual. Meth Bust: Local news item about a meth bust at a well-known produce stand. Science & Health Gray Hair and Cancer: Reporting on studies involving mice suggesting that gray hair signals a successful cancer defense mechanism, where the body eliminates potentially dangerous DNA-damaged cells. Weight Loss Drugs: Discussion of Donald Trump's plan to reduce the cost of GLP-1 weight loss drugs via his Trump RX website, raising concerns about price controls potentially stifling future pharmaceutical research and development. Transportation & Aviation FAA Air Traffic Cuts: Due to the continuing shutdown, the FAA is planning to gradually cut air traffic by up to 25%, likely leading to consolidated and fewer flights on major routes. UPS DC11 Crash: A UPS DC11 cargo plane went down in Louisville following a catastrophic failure where the left engine caught fire and fell off, leading to at least 13 fatalities. The discussion focused on the airframe's age not being the issue, but potential maintenance concerns. Misc. The First Trillionaire: Discussing Elon Musk's new compensation package at Tesla, which could potentially make him the world's first individual trillionaire if the company hits aggressive financial milestones (e.g., $8 trillion valuation). Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG): Discussing her appearance on "The View" where she performed well, drawing applause primarily when she criticized her own party and Republican figures like Donald Trump and Mike Johnson.
They say that you learn the most about yourself when you become a parent. It starts when you bring the newborn home. How well do you handle pressure when you're sleep-deprived and stressed? The next phase is when you hear your little one say things you thought they didn't hear. Yikes! Today, Pastor Bill teaches that you never know who's listening. Does your life reflect what you truly believe? Do your conversations point towards Christ so that those listening know where you find hope?

God has a way of using the most unsuspecting people to accomplish the most unexpected things. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that God wants to do incredible things through little old you. He's not asking you to go out and create some multimillion-dollar organization or fly to the uttermost parts of the world, though that may be a part of His plan, too. He's asking you to simply go about your day-to-day routine, living out the Gospel message, and tell those you encounter about Jesus Christ.

The fruit we bear as believers may be some of the best, if not the only, evidence for the Gospel that someone in your community ever encounters. We need to be aware of this and allow it to motivate our actions and attitudes. All too often, the only thing different about us as believers is the way we spend our Sunday mornings. As Pastor Bill will urge us in today's message, we're called to get out into the world and share the truth that's been revealed to our hearts by God's Word and His Holy Spirit.

We have a real problem with entitlement in our culture. Everyone thinks that they're owed more than they're getting, and we're preoccupied with figuring out who to blame for any hardship we experience. As Pastor Bill will challenge us in today's message, suffering is a big part of our calling as believers. Paul and Silas had the opportunity to run free from the prison but chose to stay for the sake of the guard, their oppressor. Likewise, we may find ourselves called to stay for the sake of those we call enemies.

In order to register please click here or email info@edenbeitshemesh.com to find out more.In this episode of the 18Forty Podcast, David Bashevkin moderates a debate between Rabbi Itamar Rosensweig and Rabbi Yitzchak Blau on whether morality exists independently of Judaism. This is a recording of a live event hosted at Young Israel of Teaneck on May 4. In this episode we discuss: What does it mean for God to be good, and who defines the “good” in the first place? Do Torah Jews base their values on halacha, or something else?Should we make any changes to halachic and moral education in the Jewish community? Tune in to hear a conversation about how halacha and morality bring order and prioritization to our chaotic and confusing lives. Debate begins at 10:57.Rabbi Itamar Rosensweig is a professor of Jewish law and jurisprudence at Yeshiva University, a rabbinic judge and chaver beit din at the Beth Din of America, and the rav of the Shtiebel of Lower Merion. This week, our focus returns to the equine diet.Whether you are supporting overall health or addressing a particular issue in a horse, it always starts with their food. That often means identifying and removing dietary intolerances or introducing an anti-inflammatory or alkaline diet. Since each horse has a unique constitution, their diets must be individualized to support their specific sensitivities.Fresh Fruits and Vegetables for HorsesOffer a variety of fresh produce like melons, shredded beets, cucumbers, watermelon rind, apples, blueberries, and carrots. Chop them into small pieces for easy eating, and avoid feeding large amounts of stringy celery to horses with dental issues or a history of choking.Using Cauliflower and Other VeggiesMany horses enjoy nibbling on cauliflower occasionally. However, you should only feed it in small amounts since large quantities can cause gas. Always observe how your horse reacts to new foods and adjust accordingly.Incorporating HerbsAdd herbs (chamomile, mint, raspberry leaf, chickweed, plantain, and milk thistle) to salads or treats. Herbs provide added health benefits, especially raspberry leaf for mares and other reproductive support. Let your horse explore different herbs to see what they prefer.Preparing and Serving SaladsMake fresh horse salads once or twice a week, using any available clean or organic produce. If using non-organic items, wash them thoroughly. For picky eaters, introduce one ingredient at a time or mix new foods into their regular mash to help them adjust.Enrichment Through ForagingScatter chopped fruits, veggies, and herbs around the pasture to encourage natural foraging and gentle exercise. This “Easter egg hunt” approach is stimulating and rewarding for your horse.Enhancing FlavorSome horses enjoy a splash of apple cider vinegar or a little olive oil as a salad dressing. Experiment with small amounts to find what your horse likes best.Benefits of Fresh Salads for HorsesFeeding horses fresh salads regularly promotes better overall health, shinier coats, improved hoof condition, reduced inflammation, and more contentment. Fresh, live nutrients support the cells and tissues naturally.Moderation and Variety Are KeyAvoid feeding too much of any single ingredient. Provide a varied mix to allow your horse to enjoy different flavors and nutrients without overindulging in one thing, and always pay attention to its preferences and sensitivities.Tips for Horses with Specific ConditionsAvoid or chop stringy vegetables like celery finely for horses with dental problems or a history of choking. Salads and fresh foods can be particularly helpful for horses managing metabolic issues (EMS) by providing live nutrients without excess sugars or fats. Introducing fresh produce gradually and mixing it with regular feed helps sensitive horses adapt. Feeding a variety of herbs and fresh foods can support inflammation reduction, hoof health, and hormone balance, especially for mares. Always observe how your horse tolerates new foods and adjust accordingly.Links and resources:Connect with Elisha Edwards on her website Join my email list to be notified about new podcast releases and upcoming webinars.Free Webinar Masterclass: Four Steps to Solving Equine Metabolic Syndrome Naturally

There was a phony article going around that Jello Biafra was going to reunite with East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride to once again be The Dead Kennedys. How you treat others is a reflection of what's inside you. Could your impatience with people be a sign of your impatience with yourself—and even God? In Week 4 of Fresh Fruit, Rotten Habits, Pastor Stephen unpacks how our relationship with others starts with our relationship with God. When we trust His timing and extend patience to ourselves, we can let His goodness overflow into our lives. Just make sure what's overflowing isn't rotten! It's quite simple, really. Challenge authority, refuse to back down, and never be complacent. Dead Kennedys brings all of that to this week's episode of EarWax!Cody and Hilary discuss San Francisco's charged political history, and how folks who don't like power structures and institutions there are more than willing to turn out and turn up. In the middle of all the turbulence is the punk scene, and Dead Kennedys are the standard-bearers. Brash, uncompromising, and sharp as tacks, Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is a force of nature. It will blow the doors off your apartment, and put you out on the streets marching in protest, right where we all belong. Thanks for listening! Leftist political outrage, weaponized through cutting satire and absurd humor. Erratic, yet undeniably inventive and memorable songwriting. San Francisco's Dead Kennedys channeled their disdain for the status quo on their debut album, a landmark work that not only launched a new era of punk music but also captured a transformative moment in American youth culture. Please join us as we discuss the Dead Kennedys and the legacy of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.
