As the seasons change so does the way we have to balance the busy. With summer in full swing over here I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my current favorite things that have been helping me find that sense of balance and calm in my own life. This episode will help:
In today's episode, Shelley and Phil taste an Oregon Pinot Gris from King Estate, in honor of Pinot Grigio Day next Wednesday, as well as talk about a slew of alternative white wines that will get you through the Summer. Take any of these alternative whites to a summer party and you will turn heads! On this second week of Oregon Wine Month, #HappyFriday! #ItsWineTime! #Cheersing #Bunghole #HitTheBell Wines this episode:2021 King Estate Pinot Gris ($19 at Fred Meyer)
White Claw already disrupted beer with spiked seltzer… now it's disrupting both with its own vodka. The Fed just made its biggest policy decision of the year as it fights 2 monsters with 1 weapon: Inflation and a bank crisis. And Amazon's moves with Panera Bread look nice, but it's not making any moves in AI — because Amazon is best when it plays like John Stockton of the Utah Jazz. $SAM $AMZN $SPY Follow The Best One Yet on Instagram, Twitter, and Tiktok: @tboypod And now watch us on Youtube Want a Shoutout on the pod? Spencer Strider and the Braves tamed the Mets in a 13-1 win at Truist Park in Atlanta. Strider's previous start was a rough one against the Mets in New York but he got redemption at home. The Orioles beat the Blue Jays as they inch closer to a Wild Card position. The White Sox mounted an 8th inning comeback to defeat the Astros after Houston pulled Jose Urquidy from the game. All this (and more) on today's episode.
Mike Patt talks all things DC sports. We go heavy into baseball to start our show. We're talking All Star game, MLB Draft, Trade Deadline, and recent performances for the Nationals and the Orioles. In the second half of our show, we take a quick look around the rest of the DMV landscape, and finish it off with a fun talk about the recent Madden video game ratings release. All while finishing off summer white wine month with a lovely french option.
Mike Patt talks all things DMV Sports. We start by diving into the 2022 MLB Amateur draft and reacting to who the Orioles and Nationals took in the top 5. We then take a look at the Washington Capitals and how they have faired so far in free agency, and finish off the show with a wild trade idea that most certainly will not happen for the Washington Wizards. All while enjoying a wonderful Portugese wine to continue Summer White wine month.
Looking for a new white wine to try or a good new summer sipper? Then look no further than Pinot Blanc! Wait, did you mean Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris?!? No, we mean Pinot Blanc! Pinot Blanc is a relative of Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, but is a delicious and affordable white wine all its own. In this episode, we taste and review three different Pinot Blancs from different parts of the world - Germany, Oregon, and Canada - to let you know what we think and advise you on what to look for. And, we can tell you that these Pinot Blancs all had something different and unique to offer. Pinot Blanc is a less commonly known white wine varietal that is worth checking out, and is a good option for those who love Chardonnay as well as those who love Pinot Grigio. Wines reviewed in this episode: 2020 Five Vineyards Pinot Blanc, 2019 Compton Pinot Blanc, and 2018 Bocking Pinot Blanc.
Episode 61 begins with another installment of Restaurant Storytime. This is perhaps the king of unbelievable stories that happened during my tenure in the restaurant industry. The key players? A summer night, a dishwasher, and an uninvited intruder in the prep room. It is all 100% reality.Things get a little lighter as we go back to the story of Cape Cod's first summer White House. Long before there was the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port there was Gray Gable in Bourne. It was home of President Grover Cleveland who had a deep connection to Cape Cod for years.MAD Magazine was a legend of humor both childish and subversive for over six decades. It spoofed everything from music and movies to politics and world events. It could be enjoyed by people from 8-80. We go Back In the Day to what it was like as a child of the 1980's first discovering this iconic publication. This week's Top 5 goes back to some favorite childhood cereals. In the days before sugar was a bad word these were the breakfast(or dinner) options that made growing up amazing. SUMMER WHITE - JULY 3RD - BOSTON
In this episode I sat down with Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, director of SUMMER WHITE. We discussed the authenticity of an autobiographical narrative, the challenge of casting a child actor and non-professional actors in a market dominated by soap operas, the importance of balanced and honest characters instead of just good vs evil, how secrets can fester, and Raymond Carver influences. SUMMER WHITE premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition.

Egalitarianism is on the move in the church. What does it mean, how did we get here, and where will it take us? I address some of the recent controversy with Paige Patterson and the Southern Baptist Convention and how the #MeToo movement is shaping our conversations around gender roles in Christianity. This week, we got the honor of being joined by Summer White of Sheologians fame to discuss the film industry and feminism... No controversy there, right? We learned what some of Summer's favorite films and shows are, then we got into a recent news story about the Cannes Film Festival involving comments made by Jessica Chastain. Should the film industry go out of its way to make sure it has more women represented in the role of director, filmmaker, writer, etc? Should some sort of action be taken to ensure the percentage of females involved in this business is at a certain 'level'? What does the percentage, 'Only 7% of the top 250 films had women directors' actually tell us about the potential problem? We even got to chat with Summer about how Christians (men and women both!) ought to view, interact with, and create stories, films, and more. We hope you enjoy the conversation, whether you agree with our conclusions or not! If you're interested in the original article that sparked some of this discussion, it can be found here. Listen-in to the newest episode of Apologia Radio in which we respond to Nasty Judd and her cohorts, the Nasty Women. We spent some time at the Feminist March in Phoenix, Arizona. You’ll get to hear conversations from the front-lines with Summer White engaging with the Nasty Women. We also spend time addressing some of the foundational argumentation of a well-known Pro-life advocate, Scott Klussendorf. Scott has done important work in the Pro-life movement and we are very grateful for it. However, during a recent radio interview, Scott spoke about his position and made some comments that we believe are inconsistent with the Christian position and need to be addressed. Want more? Sign-up, today, for Apologia All Access and get all of our TV shows, our After Shows, and Apologia Academy! You’ll get quality Biblical media and you’ll get equipped in the Biblical Worldview and Apologetics. You’ll also be partnering with Apologia Church and you’ll be making all of our work possible! There are desolate roads in America that inspire sweaty palms, goosebumps and fuel the imagination with images straight out of a horror flick. These are roads where no sane person would want to have a breakdown in a car occur. Some of these roads have inspired tales of ghost lights. These are lights that seem to move of their own accord, always staying just out of reach. Legends have spawned about headless ghosts swinging lanterns as they search for their heads. Some people believe that these lights could be attributed to UFO activity. The Bragg Light in Texas and the Paulding Light in Michigan, are two of these ghost lights. The roads where they are seen are walled by thick forests. Both have haunting tales that claim that a ghost or possibly something worse, are responsible for the lights. And both have had skeptics claim that it is nothing more than swamp gas or light reflecting from something else. Are these natural phenomenon or is something supernatural going on here? Join us and our special guest, listener Summer White, as we explore the history and haunting of these ghost lights! The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Bob Sherfield and features the Ma'nene Festival in Indonesia and This Day in History features the Okeechobee Hurricane in Florida. Our show topic was suggested by listener Summer White. Pwyll prepares to enter a battle to the death! In the last episode, Pwyll had started his battle training with Arawn's Knights, defended the Kingdom of Annwn from strange, Brutish invaders and learned a valuable lesson from Arawn's beautiful Queen. In this episode, after a year of preparation and waiting, he gathers his forces and travels to the Ford between the Worlds. There, he will meet with Hafgan the Summer-White, the King of the Land of Summer and face him in a duel to the death. Only one will walk away. Will Pwyll be able to meet up to Arawn's hopes and expectations? This episode is also the 5th episode of the First Branch of the Mabinogi and continues the story of Pwyll, the Prince of Dyfed. Under the title of Ancient Britain and the Atlantic Zone, the project is now in its fifth year and is exploring the possibility that the ancient language of Tartessian is possibly the earliest known Celtic language and that the Celts came to Europe from the West. We covered the Year 3 conference and again in our report about the possible origins of Welsh. We also report that there is some evidence that an inscription in the Tartessian language may well have been found in Newfoundland indicating that the Celts may have visited the other side of the Atlantic at least 4,000 years ago!
